Gearing up for NaNoWriMo

Can someone explain to me when covers became important in NaNo? Seems a new sensation to me.

I don't think it's that important, for me it was mostly the annoyance of the little blank rectangle that kept telling me to upload a cover. I made mine myself because idgaf.

Mine already had a cover from 7 years ago lol. I feel like covers are important only in the sense that they inspire you to keep going. It's much easier to stop when you don't have anything 'invested' or 'to show' for your work. But when you have a cover that either you or someone else has put time into, and it's something you can show people... That makes you want to keep writing.

All User Content originated or distributed by you shall comply with all applicable laws respecting the content of published matter (in electronic form or any other media now or hereafter existing), including laws respecting obscenity, pornography, defamation, copyright, trademark, and other intellectual or intangible property rights.

So I'd imagine that unless you have permission to use it (your own art, images that are free for personal and/or commercial use, or something you commissioned), it would be against their ToS. No idea how closely they moderate that sort of thing, though. I'd personally recommend complying with copyright.

There's a pause as the two men look over the body at their feet, the blood dripping from the baseball bat he's nervously holding in his hands. It's fresh. He's never killed in his life. He's barely holding down the taste of bile growing in his mouth. His eyes swell up as he looks warily at the corpse. How could he comprehend what he had just done? How could he accept it?

"Oh my god, what have I done?"

The man next to him shrugs, eyes as cold as the snow around them. He wrinkles his nose as he places his hand on the trembling man's shoulder. The man is taller and older, a silver cross hanging from his collar. His expression isn't kind or reassuring—but he has no intent to be.

"You've killed a man, Andrew." His tone is flat, like a deathly calm. "You've purified a wicked sinner from this godly world."

Safe to assume I've found an idea I like. On the fly.

So in the space of 6 days I've started two separate works, found a plothole in a former work, drowned my sorrows from said plothole in tea, and researched anarchical societies. Just another Nanowrimo.

Don't feel bad XD I'm writing three at once, because my muse is like "I don't like this, do this instead" every ten minutes.

I'm still behind on word count but now that I've settled on an actual chapter outline, it's much easier 8D I'm so tempted to write out of order and do all the fun scenes now... but then I know I'll struggle to do the less hyped scenes =__= and since I'm kinda pantsing this I want the characters to grow organically cause I haven't really planned everything for them >:[

I'm hoping to hit the 10K mark by the end of the week at least T__T

I'm doing alright, I reckon. I have idea, just getting them down takes a while.

I'm pretty hyped for the next two chapters though. My favourite scene so far is when my wee boy finally breaks down crying from all the sudden crap I've dumped on him. ;w; Poor babbu.
