Disaster in the Dreamscape

When the group would enter into the Dreamscape Corridors, Sandy would look around with a curious smile on his face. When given the choice to explore three different locations, right, left, and straight, Sandy would place a hand over his eyes and point down each path at least once, randomly selecting in his head which one he would choose.

Eeny, meeny, miny, moe~

In the end, the sandman's hand would be pointing in the left direction. He would then create a magical arrow out of sand, having it point in the direction he wished to go. Excitedly, he flailed his arms and tried to get the group to look at the arrow he had created, showing them that he wished at least some of them would go with him down the left path.

@Crow @Takumi @LuckycoolHawk9 @DreamscapeCorridors
Holden had enough trouble following the straight path in his life and was indecisive about his choice to go in any direction and then he looked up in the arrow in the air and nodded. " I am pretty sure that Sandy wants to go left and I put my trust in his decision. I think we should go left."

"Left it is then," Luna says.

And soon, three doors greet them.

The commanding voice had surprised and somewhat startled Jade. It seemed that, even within the realm of dreams, she could find ways to have her head lost in the clouds. In her surprise, she dropped the watering can in her hand. Fortunately, the can fell slowly enough for Jade to quickly pluck the can from its descent, avoiding major spillage. The physics of dreams can be a useful tool if used correctly.

With the watering can safely in her arms and clutched close to her chest, Jade turned towards the source of the voice. "Oh! Kriemhild! Good to see you here! No, I'm not exactly 'hiding' amongst the plants. Nemurin needs somebody to take care of all this catnip, and I was more than happy to help out. I love gardening, especially when it allows you to eat fresh fruit if all kinds!" As an example, Jade plucked a single marshmallowy fruit from its crystalline branch and stared at it, licking her lips with an appetite.

She moved to take a bite of the fruit, before deciding against it. "You know, I'm not really that hungry right now," she said before casually storing the fruit in her inventory.

Hiruko nodded as he glanced at each door in front of them before heading to door 1 with the spell circle on it.

"If these represent the individuals having these dreams...then I wonder what this one will bring?" he muttered as he tapped his shoulder gentle with Formalin.

Holden looked over at his options and looked back at his fellow dream scapers. " Whatever room we pick, we should pick it as a team. So, Sandy, what door would you like to go through?" He asked, clearly curious to what the other dreamscaper thought about where they should go. He wondered what Leo was doing.

Sandy hopped up and down excitedly, creating a tiny, magical display of fireworks with his sand that would fly above his head. This little show was his own way of saying how grateful he was that the others chose to go with him down the path he selected. So he made his way down the path, looking curiously to the three different doors Luna would point out when they arrived.

NEkT4SN.png

Immediately, he wrinkled his nose at the sight of the bat and the black blade emblems. They actually reminded him of his arch enemy Pitch Black and he honestly didn't want to explore them. He glanced to the door Hiruko had chosen, the first door with the red circle on it, and decided he liked the look of it. He gave Holden a thumbs up with both hands before pointing to the door Hiruko had chosen, showing that he agreed with the decision

@Crow @Takumi @LuckycoolHawk9 @DreamscapeCorridors

Holden looked over at the man and noticed that the man had pointed at the red door. It seemed that everyone was agreeing that they should enter the red door. Normally, he would tell Leo he was going in the dream corriders but he wasn't sure where the man was. He guessed that wherever he was going, Leo could find him if he needed too. " I am excited to see where this is going," he said, curious to where the dream door would take them. Hopefully it would be someplace really cool.

Kriemhild had rather expected Jade to eat the fruit and was curious to see whether the seemingly sentient fruit would actually feel itself being eaten, but it seemed her curiosity would have to be sated another time. Crossing her arms, a short, low chuckle escaped her. Gardening did suit her image, and she was often here. It was so fitting it was funny.

"You certainly seemed hungry though, no? Not going to find out how it tastes even?"

She didn't express anything to show she was aware of Silence Dogood's presence as she spoke with Jade.

And so Door 1 it was.

The group would be greeted by the setting of a hospital. The entrance-exit of the hospital leads back to the Dreamscape.

'Benjamin' hovers along the hospital's corridors, noting that there was absolutely no one in the hospital. The glass windows on the first floor all show a black void.

6mOOaJY.png

"Gr... (Based on experience, these rooms are empty because they aren't the focal point of this dream. Sometimes you can't enter the girl's bathroom in a boy's dream. Trust me, I've tried.)" 'Benjamin' suggests, putting length into his explanations despite the fact that few could understand his words.

"Look!" Luna points to the closing automatic glass entrance. That's odd. It was a regular hinge-based wooden door just now.

An emblem that resembled a line was shown on the entrance.

NiKPGU3.png

Luna also points to the empty reception counter. It was another emblem, resembling a long line and a short line.

"Kra... (I have doubt that you all want to climb all seven floors.)" 'Benjamin' churns as he points his trunk to a directory of sorts. "Braaa... (there's these odd symbols here. Just what do they mean?)"

"Good find, Benjamin," Luna praises the Baku. "What do they mean by this?"

Ariadne sat over a desk in The Research Lab. All around were pencils, papers, and empty Chinese takeout containers. Next to it was a wastebasket filled with crumpled up papers. She keeping up with her architecture studies and designing a new dream, just in case. A cup of coffee sat next to her. She was busy over her work, not really paying attention to her surroundings.

@Crow @Anybody
Leo had decided that he needed to do anything besides watch Holden lose at classic video game. Holding his staff in his left hand, he spun it around for a moment. After a moment, he adjusted his glasses. He wondered into the research room and noticed the mess. That meant that either Ariadne had been working on a design or someone had gotten distracted. " Hey, how are you?" He asked.

@Minerva @Research room
Ariadne looked up from her desk where she seemed engrossed in her work."Oh, I'm fine. Did I really stay in here all night?" She asked, a bit tired
Leo held his staff in his left hand and twirled it as he replied to her. " Well, you certainly never went to bed last night, so I believe the answer to that is yes," he said.

@Minerva @Research Room

Around the Research Room, there was little to see. The fish tank contained these odd organisms, swimming around in the lack of water. They certainly weren't fish, but they were swimming like them. What appeared to be a cylinder of fish food was beside the fish tank.

The refrigerator(the one not meant for eating from, if there are other refrigerators) contained some test tubes with samples of black dream mist. They were collected from some nightmares over the month.

There was a large screen and various buttons that made up a computer. I would mention other components but that just takes time.

A gothic black, laced book with a stylized 'DIARY' written on it was on a table. What was that doing there?

Holden wasn't exactly the biggest fan of hospitals and had a look of disdain on his face. It was a hospital in which he woke up from his ten year coma from the Dreamscape and to say that was the point where everything went wrong was there. " It looks like these symbols seem to be correlating with the floors. Perhaps if we combine the two symbols, we should go to 5th or 2nd floor. I am not certain about this," he said, hoping to get out of this area as soon as possible.

Leo looked around the research room and noticed that there were some fish like things and a computer. Perhaps as if instinct, he fed the fish creatures that were there and he looked over the diary on the table. " Oh, somebody left their diary here. We should find out who it belongs to. Of course, the only way to do is to read it.... would you like to do the honors?" He asked.

A look of interest crossed Hiruko's face at the way the dream was structured.

"I wonder....will this have any blood?" he muttered to himself, as he set his briefcase down and almost distractedly run his fingers gently over the curve of Formalin. A wistful sigh escaped his lips as he glanced at whatever Luna was pointing out.

Hiruko chuckled towards Benjamin, glancing towards the other Baku with a raised brow.

"You've tried entering a bathroom? For what purpose in a dream?" he asked, amused.

Hiruko's blue eyes lit up with impish mischief at Holden's disdain as his own amusement grew, but said nothing on the matter.

"An interesting method, but how exactly do you suppose that can be done?" Hiruko asked. Usually he knew how the dreams he entered operated for the most part, but with this one he knew nothing. It could only lead to interesting results for sure.

"Trooo! (Well, uh... Silence Dogood is rather particular about looking through every nook and cranny for clues. That does include bathrooms. It's always important to investigate.)" the Baku responds nervously.

HWmNoNy.png

"The second or fifth floor," Luna ponders, "what does everypony else think? Personally, I don't believe it's a combination of the two symbols of the choice truly was F2 or F5. The symbols each have a line of equal length, and one of them having a line half the length of each. If Holden's reasoning holds any weight, then the most qualified symbol of choice would logically be F6."
@Crow @LuckycoolHawk9 @Klutzy Ninja Kitty @Takumi @TheDream

Holden looked over at the symbols again and then back at Luna. " That may actually be the solution to the problem. I can only judge based on what I learned in school... and I kind of missed everything passed the 7th or so grade and it has been a while since I have merged things. I wonder what we are going to find on floor 6," he said, nodding, not even mad that he was being corrected. What a team player Holden was.

"Hah. How amusing." Hiruko replied, before studying the strange symbols. They were gonna head for floor 6 then? Reaching out the Baku carefully brushed his fingers along the symbol for the floor as well as the floor number. He wondered if something would happen from this action.

"School?" Hiruko questioned, going as far back as he could remember, digging up some unpleasant ones as well to try and think of if he ever went to school. Shaking his head gently when nothing like that could be remembered shortly afterwards. All he remembered, when thinking back to his old self was all of the pain and hopelessness he felt. Letting those thoughts come to a screesching halt he went back to focusing on the task at hand.

"Hopefully we find something interesting...and maybe bloody on that floor. Though we can only find out hm?" he smirked, trying his best to bury those dark memories into a dark corner where they belonged.

"Well, you see, sometimes I can find it hard to eat when I'm being watched." The hair on the back of Jade's neck stood on end. Somewhere in the canine aspects which had mixed with her own powers, there was this instinct as a predator to know how to watch and to know when you were being watched. Jade lifted her nose to the air and perked up her ears. Even with sensitive ears, Jade could hear nothing aside from the beating of her own heart. It appeared that Silence Dogood was true to her name. However, there was one characteristic that couldn't be silenced: scent. Jade picked up on the smallest hints of Silence Dogood's smell and smiled once she had identified the spy.

"You know, maybe I could eat if Silence would come out and say hi instead of hiding in the shadows. I don't really like getting stared at."

Out-of-Character
The Dreamscape, a place that held the dreams of all who thrived in every possible reality, percieved by those who have access to it as a meadow of clouds and swirls that hosted many doors, each door leading to the dream of an individual. It is an alternate dimension linked to the slumbering minds across other realms. It was once in balance, but one day, strange things happened, slowly but surely.
Imbalance, to be precise.
The number of nightmares started to outnumber the gentler, calmer dreams, at a rate more than alarming. However, that wasn't the problem. A good fraction of these nightmares were most odd - they had the ability to repaint memories, making those who have them believe that these nightmares are their true lives, and slowly, be pushed into a horrid slumber where they would be tortured in the World of Dreams forever.
In kinder words, the memories of these nightmare-induced victims have been miscoloured.
It is up to the Dreamscapers to deal with these ghoulish nightmares. Originally started by three founding members as what was supposed to be a temporarily alliance to bring balance to the increasing nightmares - Silence Dogood, Princess Luna and Nemurin - their numbers began to grow as the issues with the increasing nightmares got worse. Over time, these three guardians of dreams met other guardians of dreams that protected their own sectors.
In the past, they could do their similiar tasks individually. But as the threat increased, they discovered that teamwork was a must. The alliance grew from a trio to great faction - a faction out to bring balance back to the Dreamscape.
What are our Dreamscapers up to now? That is a question for another time.
By another time, I mean now.
K77kwUD.png

Prologue

Earlier on...
It was yet another day in headquarters of the Dreamscapers. It was an odd building in an odd place. The place in general was physically impossible by earthly standards - it appeared to be made from a cottony or woolly substance based on the walls and ceiling, yet it is fully capable of supporting everything and anything that laid upon its textures. The building was attached to a crystalline-looking ground that had no parallel sky.
Once someone's humble abode, it has been repurposed into headquarters.
Mva8DrI.png

"I'm heading out for a bit," a petite maiden greets group. This was Nemurin, the leader of the alleged Dreamscapers. She didn't seem very leader-like, but she was one of the very first members, and had a very high affinity for the realm of dreams.
HWmNoNy.png

"Have a good trip. Going to train Masked Wonder again?" an equinoid being asks Nemurin. This was Princess Luna of Equestria. She has an affinity for the night and its elements, one of these elements encompassing the dreams of those young and old.
"Well, I've got lots on my plate, on top of leading the team," Nemurin smiled, "best to clear it before it stacks, then I can sleep my worries away. Bye~"
And so, Nemurin leaves by the door, before vanishing almost instantly, as if utilising teleportation.
KEhG7lr.png

"You know," a young lass, clad in gothic lolita dons, appears next to Luna. "I doubt that Nemurin is going to train Masked Wonder today. I'll go-"
Luna spreads a single wing, blocking the young lass' path.
"Silence Dogood, it's best to trust her words."
"Well, her words didn't mention anything about training Masked Wonder," the lass, Silence Dogood, says. "Her wording is a little odd though..."

Elsewhere...
VpTqZUI.png

"So... you're Nemurin? Don't make me laugh."
EENP4Bc.png

"I don't think that's an option for me, because my goal is to make everyone laugh~ hee hee~"

Now...
KEhG7lr.png

"She's taking her own sweet time, now isn't she, Benjamin, Franklin?"
wDulBhh.png

"Grrrroink," a chimerical, quadrapedal being, responds. Silence Dogood has dubbed this being 'Benjamin'. It is recognised by many here as a Baku, a dream-eating spirit in Japanese folklore. It seemed to be a more 'traditional' incarnation, as most 'modern' depictions are indistinguishable from a certain modern-day animal.
r8ZvmXA.png

"Krrt Krrt!" a spider-like spirit that utilised a dreamcatcher as a hoverboard responds to Silence Dogood. This being was dubbed by Silence Dogood as 'Franklin'. Silence Dogood had previously said it was an Asabikeshiinh, a type of spirit worshipped by Native American cultures.
IiEAN1T.png

"Silence Dogood, good things comes to those who wait," Luna assures, "it has been less than an hour, after all.
"Fine," Silence Dogood sighs.
"Well, since we're all currently resting, it's a good time to interact with everyone here," Luna places a hoof on Silence's shoulder, "I know how it feels like to be lonely."
"I'm not lonely, I've got my familiars," Silence replies.
Luna simply smiles.
Most of the members of the Dreamscapers are now in the Living Room, with a bunch of cloudy sofas to sit on. Silence Dogood, signified by her gothic lolita dons, and Princess Luna, the purplish-blue winged unicorn, as you can visually percieve, are in this room. Perhaps you could mingle with them, or others.
Some members may be found in the Research Room, built for the purpose of certain members wanting to research dreams, how to manipulate them, and the like. It should've been called the 'Research Lab', but that isn't too important right now.
Since this is repurposed housing, there's a Spacious Kitchen, and if you take the stairs to the second floor - a garden and Nemurin's Room. I don't recommend that last one. The only bad thing that could possibly happen from it, however, is the guilt of privacy invasion. Not like this team is a hundred percent goody-two-shoes, am I right?
Right next to Nemurin's Room is an Oddly Empty Room. Maybe you could spar here without disturbing anyone.

Kriemhild Lebenstein passed through the gardens. She may not have been an official member here, but unexpectedly she'd found herself hanging around the place rather often. It wasn't so much that she was desiring company, or adored their ideals, or anything like that. But certainly, something here greatly interested her.

What she saw in the garden was not that thing. Though despite that, her stride took a pause.

thumb_1426_char12.jpg

"Hiding amongst the plants?" She called out, her voice having a commanding quality to it.

@Mason Moretti @Crow @garden
The Garden was defined by a canopy in the middle and short fields of grass that surrounded it. The most noteworthy plants were catnip, which covered most of the area and could be found in cuboid pots placed over the area. Nemurin must really like catnip. That, or catnip is a very important resource in the Dreamscape.

Trees with purplish crystalline bark and cloud-like leafage grew on large pots around the area. The trees were about one and a half times the height of a tall human at best. The trees bore odd fruit that seemed sentient, and edible in the context of marshmallows, but I don't recommend doing so. On one of these cloud-like, crystalline trees, there was a wooden birdhouse hanging from the branch, housing a small, sleeping, white-coated owl. One who often visits the garden would recognise this owl, but any known information on the avian being stops there.

There were other plants, such as an odd, human-sized tulip-like plant that seemed to stare into your soul, bound to a pot, or a- you know, I should stop here. There are a lot of plants here, after all.

Jade Harley and Kriemhild Lebenstein stood on this grassy garden of dreamy flora.

@Mason Moretti @Kaykay @Garden

@Crow @Kaykay

@Crow @Mason Moretti

After the defeat of Agent Smith, ironically enough by his own hands... Neo had believed it would be the end, both of him, and Smith's reign over the Matrix.

Truth to be told? He was only half right.

Smith was gone, and so was who he had once been, but somehow... Neo, survived.

The last thing he could remember was the sun shining through a peacefull, sprawling park, with a city in the background, a serene sight, before everything went dark. Perhaps it was a glimpse into the future that he had created for the Matrix? Or maybe... Further along, a place in time, where the Earth had somehow been restored, and humans and machines lived together once more?

In the end... He'd never truly know, but what he did know was that his purpose was not quite fulfilled yet.

Sometime after his vision went dark, he arrived at the Dreamscaper's headquarters, just a few months ago, not sure where he was... Or why he was still... Here.

This strange phenomenon was unable to be explained by either himself, nor the dreamscapers, but what he did find was that they were Guardians... Guardians of those that dreamed, nonetheless.

Soon, as he ventured into the dreams of others, he quickly discovered that like in the Matrix, he could modify the environment around him... Becoming practically Superhuman in the process, but not quite the god-like entity he once was in the Matrix.

However, it didn't take long for things to start going wrong... As darker, more disturbing dreams began to crop up amongst those that dreamed; nightmares. Becoming more numerous, and terrifying each day, it seemed that some dreamers were never even able to wake up... And this, was something he could not ignore.

Thus, he joined the Dreamscapers in their fight against the nightmares, having a purpose, once more... Fighting yet another, seemingly endless battle, against forces that were beyond the average human's comprehension, and by extension... Ability to fight...

...

Well, on this seemingly peacefull day at the Dreamscapers headquarters, it appeared that Neo was doing his usual wandering, which just so happened to lead him to the Garden by chance.

Rather than interacting with those in the Garden directly though, he chose instead, to find a quiet place to sit down, and begin to brood, or something like that.

Usually in thse cases, he would have paid the Oracle a little visit, but... Considering that this was no longer the Matrix, that option just simply wasn't there. So for the time being, his free time had mostly been spent shrouded in his own thoughts, as he waited for a task to be assigned to him by the Dreamscapers... Or perhaps soemone else.

@Crow @LuckycoolHawk9 @Klutzy Ninja Kitty @Takumi @The Dream

"Groo? (Oh, there's an elevator over there, but there are no buttons. No wonder I thought it was another door the first time. Guess we'll take the stairs.)" the Baku points to the elevator without buttons.

And so they took the stairs to Floor 6.

They encountered the only room to not display a void via a window and entered it.

IiEAN1T.png

"This doesn't look like a hospital room," Luna says.

The setup of the room started off with starry wallpaper and a celestial ceiling. The floor had odd patterns. One was a large, central circle, seeming representing the sun. The next was an earth-patterned circle, and the last, presumably the moon. Each mentioned circle was a quarter the diameter of the prior mentioned one.

rXYuCVt.png

The Earth-circle started to revolve around the sun-circle, while the moon-circle revolved around the earth-circle. The patterns would soon stop at what one might recognise as a Solar Eclipse.

The Earth-circle would flip, revealing a pattern akin to the sun-circle, while the sun-circle would begin to form cracks that leaked a malicious miasma. This urged anyone who was stepping on it to step off.

As the cracks would shatter, a burst of flames rose up. The sun-circle was now an equally large earth-circle.

"Grooo... (I think this is the wrong room.)" 'Benjamin' would grunt.

The flames subsided to reveal an odd human standing on the earth-circle. This odd man seemed to desire battle.

7Dz5inv.png

"Oi, Wizard, you better show your face! Do you have any idea how hot the sun was?" the odd man exclaims, apparently referring to an entity known as 'Wizard'.

zpD1YEh.png

"Excuse me," Luna asks, "we do not know who you are, but we do not have a reason to fight you. Would you mind introducing yourself?"

"You're not the ringed magician Wizard, none of you are! Well, I don't know who any of you are too, and I don't have a reason to fight you either- oh wait, I do."

Flames engulfed the man's body as he transformed into an odd, red being. This being's helmet and shoulder pads were remniscent of birds of prey. He brandished a flaming red sword, with hilts that resembled feathered wings. He was ready to fight.

RAkr84M.png

"You'll all make good target practice until Wizard arrives. By the way, the name's Phoenix."

"Braaak? (You're supposed to be a Phoenix? No offense but I... I honestly don't see it.)" 'Benjamin' comments. As Phoenix charges towards the group, 'Benjamin' would begin to use his trunk to drain Phoenix away.

Phoenix would disintegrate into smoke as he was sucked into Benjamin's nose.

But it was not over.

Another burst of flames rose, only to reveal that Phoenix was there once more, unscratched and untouched.

BPW4ZKC.png

"Kill me all you want, I'll come back stronger!"

For a 'trap' room, this opponent seemed pretty tough... was he?

"It's... best not to eat those now, Jade Harley," Silence Dogood would emerge from the shadows, "go ahead and keep them in your pockets though."

"Krrt krrt..." a spider-shaped familiar, 'Franklin' as it was dubbed by Silence Dogood, stood on a dreamcatcher improvised as a hoverboard, hovering beside Silence Dogood. The spider-like spirit was slightly larger than a chihuahua.

"Benjamin's out for a while with Luna, Holden, Hiruko and Sandy, so I was grabbing my third familiar to keep a lookout," Silence Dogood says with a small amount of sternness in her voice.

Almost no one among the Dreamscapers would be aware that Silence Dogood possessed a third familiar, since she was always shown hanging around two.

Silence Dogood walked near the small snowy owl sitting in a hollowed tree.

n2EFaF4.png

"Hoot. Hoot. Hoot. Hoot."

The owl perches onto Silence Dogood's sleeve-covered wrists.

"I believe you have yet to meet Reed," Silence Dogood would introduce the three present to her owl familiar. There was a good chance that at least one of the three would notice that it wasn't exactly an owl, and this 'owl' felt a little bit... demonic in nature.

If Ariadne were to read the contents of the first page, she would find the following...

XX/XX/XXXX

Mother believes that my oneiromancy is not strong enough to succeed her in the our lineage of women. Maybe that is the case. However, the time to train is not enough. I need a crutch - a familiar, even two. I considered an Alp, but demons may be harmful for my body. As such, I will pursue two possible familiars - the Baku, found in East Asian countries such as Japan or China, and the Asabikeshiinh, found in the Americas, and one of many spirits worshipped by the aboriginals of the land. I have enough allowance for my flight plan. I will prove to her that I am worthy.

Hiruko stood back, arms crossed as he let Formalin float so he could sit on the cane, his briefcase sitting on the floor near his feet. He had no real want or intent to fight Phoenix, unless attacked first. Sighing he crossed his legs and frowned.

"Combat is not my forte." he grumbled, annoyed.
