Cirque du gothique (Gothic Circus)

As soon as she had finished her act, Aquila had dashed to get ready. She had neatly put all of her belongings into a small black box with a small bit of rope through then side, then handcuffed it to her wrist. Carefully, she helped to carry some poles, head down as she finished loading them. Time to move again..

The circus was packed and put away. All of her belongings were in the train ready to leave in a few. Sophie looked around a bit, knowing where she was but oddly enjoyed it. Sophie got onto the train and looked out her open door. The moon was nice and bright with an accompanied violin. Jamie had one but she never heard him play it until now. He was pretty good at it and it was nice to have something this soothing instead of silence. Sophie happily relaxed and hummed the tune that was played, it was hard not to.

As Jamie played the song few sader with each note, almost like telling a story. In fact that was one of his gifts. He walked out of his room and made his way to the main part of the train and played his song. His bow was engulfed in a blue flame that flickered with the song.

Birdie heard him leave and got out of her room following him and singing along with his playing. Singing was the other reason she was called Birdie. Her beautiful voice blended well with the violin.

Jamie turned looking at Birdie as she sang to his tone. His song slowed and started to an up beat happy fast song. He change the melody and tone quickly yet it was smooth enough.

She caught the tone change and changed her song to a happier one as she dance with the music playing. She smiled at him thru her singing going along with him. Jamie and birdie had been in the circus together for a long time so they were pretty close. She kept singing with him.

Jamie finished his song and the flame vanished. He looked at Birdie before he laughed ever so slightly. He rarely enjoys himself so when he does its crazy.

Birdie twirled around him laughing when they finished together. She grabbed his hand and danced around with him.

Angel boarded the train, the lights above taking a darker pattern, the blues and greens were gone, now it was just reds, and yellows, like flames. He wandered the train aimlessly, peering out windows at the passing landscape. He heard the music and smiled, he looked out the windows again and twirled his finger over the glass in a spiral. The view warped, and all around the train, through every window, the surroundings turned into celestial sights.
He smiled as he thought about space trains, then his eyes flashed and the train was surrounded by false flames, fake fire and brimstone filled the view ports, and dark mysterious forms flickered through them. He walked to the center car and lay down on the floor of the aisle, arms behind his head, and fell asleep.

Aquila danced into the centre car, being mindful of Angel who was now asleep on the floor, and dragged the handcuffs out of her pocket. Attaching one end to her ankle and the other to the bar connected to the thing that held some of the luggage, she hung upside down, watching the illusions created by Angel, slowly wprking her way out of the handcuffs.

The last of the violins song faded into the wind and the night returned to its previous state. At the front of the train near the chimney a shadow deepened and then swirled as bright orange eyes came into view followed by a grey form that seemed to be as transparent as the smoke billowing out from the trains depths. The night was a dark, cold one to be sure. The kind that reminded Alexandria of the depths of the shadows she chose to spend her time in. A small smile curled her lips and she shifted into a seated position, legs folded up towards her chin, to stare up at the glittering stars high above. A hum vibrated from her throat.

It had been a good show tonight. The turn out was decent, no injuries were incurred during the acts, and no one had been foolish enough to venture passed the curtains into 'forbidden zones'. Of course there was always the adventurous tweens and teens that had attempted to prove their mettle by sneaking inside to see the show but those were dealt with easily enough. A few minutes of time-out shadow style left them disorientated enough for her to escort them out of the tent and the smart ones didn't come back. There had only been smart ones today.

A breeze tugged at her charcoal hair and it pulled free from the clip she had been keeping it in.

'I've heard that if you jump off of a tall enough cliff you'll die due to suffocation before you hit the bottom.' She mused, flexing her bare toes against the cold metal of the train. Absently, she wondered if it held any truth in it. The wind was quite powerful, and when she stuck her head out directly into its path while the train was moving she did experience a sense of not being able to catch her breath. 'Well, it is interesting enough to try some day.'

With a final glance at the sky, she gave the moon a little wave before the shadows seemed to crawl across her form and she spun out of existence. Farther down the train, in one of the hallways, a slender shadow in a corner darkened and out stepped the girl once more. Once free of the shadow her skin colored and her eyes reverted back to their original inky black. She blinked, and cast a glance around. Not a soul in the vicinity it seemed. That was for the best, some of the troupe wasn't altogether comfortable with her comings and goings anyways. Alexandria lifted a hand to straighten out her green and gold vest top that was cropped just below her ribcage and then gave a careless brush to the black capris at her waist. Apparently, she was prone to getting soot and dirt everywhere after she came back from outside. She still didn't see what the big deal was. Her gaze roved over her form halfheartedly before she deemed herself suitable and she strode off down the hall in search of food, every shadow she passed through greying her skin and causing her eyes to glow.

Angel didn't open his eyes, or react in anyway to Aquila's presence. He sighed in his sleep and said, "Nick," that's the name of his brother, "you're lucky did you know that?" The floor of the car changed appearances to look like a lush cream carpet, the walls turned to marble and outside the train it looked like it was night and raining. A shadowy form appeared, arms crossed, standing at his feet, as tall as himself, but athletically built. The Joker smiled in his sleep and then a single tear rolled down his ever mischievous face, the illusions inside the train vanished leaving the false flames surrounding the exterior.

Jamie looks around and then out the train window. "Its snowing. Figures yet another cold winter." He says flicking his blue flame to a candle. He loved his flame it was the only real power he had but he could do so much with it.

"Snow, well lets hope it doesn't completely freeze us." She said with a smile putting her arm around his shoulders. "Remember our first show together?"

"Oh when you first arrived? Looks like its story time." He sighs sitting down. "When Birdie first showed up it was winter and she was scared. Hell I think we all were at first. The masters after all kidnapped and out most of us threw brutal training. In fact around this time I was the only one that had even seen them. Most if the others got killed and by this time I was the one to train the newbies." He says telling his story. "It was a cold winter and we where travling to our next destination." Looking to Birdie.

She smiled at him always enjoying his story time, "I fell ontop of you." She said with a laugh.

Sophie was sitting and doodling away in her book, she hadn't tuned anyone out. In fact she heard everything that goes on around her. So when Jamie started to tell a story of their first show she listened, while mindless drawing away. Sadly she was going to need a new book soon but she would find ways to keep herself occupied. Sophie smiled gently imagining how the two were when they had started in this weird circus.

A shadow within a corner of the room blackened and large orange eyes appeared. It had taken her a few minutes of searching but she'd found some fruit stowed away in the shadow of a chair that had been stored with the rest of the supplies near the back of the train. Shadows were tricky things. They didn't vanish altogether when the sun dispersed them but the entrances did for a while before they could cast themselves once more; so timing was an issue sometimes.

She shifted within the veil and brought a scraggly pear to her mouth to bite. Flavor rolled over her tongue and she hummed softly in delight. Expiration set for two days away and it still was delicious-a little frostbitten to be sure, but ignoring that it was a tasty morsel. It would keep her satisfied until she could find her way to the actual food stores anyways. Dropping the pear back into her pocket she turned her focus towards the troupe member she'd appeared silently next to. Brown hair, green eyes; her gaze took it in impassively in a swift sweep. She recognized her. Role in the show: aerial contortionist. Age: 16. Her attention flitted to the pen moving over the page and she tilted her head to the side curiously. What could it be? A sketch? A list? A journal entry? Her form rose from the shadow, tendrils of black and charcoal sliding over form, revealing her not-quite-see-through form up to her hips as she leaned over the girls shoulder to get a look at the page.

"Pretty drawings." She commented, not bothering to leave the shadow of the wall.

Finally, Aquila dropped to the floor, landing on her hands, and then dropping her legs to in front of her head, into a bridge. She looked at Angel as she stood up straight, tilting her head slightly as he talked in his sleep and a single tear rolled down his face. She shook her head, then began to dawdle around the train. She stopped and leaned against the wall, listening to Jamie's story.

"Yeah she feel on me. Other then that we were stuck on the train for three hours because of snow storm. Let me tell you the train was cold there was no heat and when were in darkness." He says.
