Bleach: A New Beginning

Given that The title isn't even about stats, right? The original title is all about the applied sense. I get people who are most likely to get it. But it's technically also a title that can be as easily as taken down as the number one headband.

A Kenpachi doesn't necessarily have to be about raw strength. Its all about the winning. Doesn't matter if its a brawler, kido master, or whatever. The only reason why Zaraki was a Kenpachi was because Yama didn't feel like he wanted it. Pretty sure they never tacked on those kinds of limitations in a technical sense.

That's why I said it's like the number one headband.

Good day! Would anyone like a lieutenant for their captain? I've got the link for the previous character I had in mind...riiight here! I'm going to be changing her personality a bit to make her back into the original, secretary-type character - something a bit like nanao (is that how you spell it?) was in the anime.

The squad number is debateable, but her powers aren't - she's going to remain a kido-type shinigami so please bare that in mind!

Well there are plenty of spots open for lieutenants here since we only have 3 so far. So i guess you can pick whoever strikes your fancy.

Yup, exactly like solar said. Maybe Hibiki, since he too is focused more on Kido.

Well Hibiki does have a kido based zanapakuto.

Do as you Wish.

Now, i do have a question for all of you before i post. I have multiple mini-plots and Sub-plots that can extend this RP quiet a ways, and i'm sure that i'll be able to think up more and you all can as well, so i need to know, do you all want to through Sub-plots and Mini-plots before we encounter the 'Unknown Force' (Which will in turn proceed to make this RP much longer, and allow us to build up skills, create new moves, increase stats, and so on) or do you all just want to train, fight, and spar for a few in-RP days before the 'Unknown Force' pops up and we all fight it together?

Well i do like story before the final boss so i'd like Sub-plots to be a thing.

I agree, subplots are good.

Subplots > Rawr, here are the sides. Go.

Well Hibiki does have a kido based zanapakuto.
I'll write up an application, but the reason I asked before writing is that I'll need someone who can balance my character's stern, hardworking personality AND keeps an eye on her well-being, as she'll often pull all-nighters to get her work done.

Hence why I asked - better to check if someone is alright with it instead of forcing the duties onto an unsuspecting person.

(Sorry these posts may have typos, I've been writing up on a phone!)

That down there is a WIP!

HIOSHIMI TSUBAKI || LIEUTENANT || SHINIGAMI || DIVISION 5
Nickname: Sleepyhead

Appearance:
Standing at a mere 5"2', this little runt hardly looks all that interesting or worth your time. Flat as a pancake with short-cropped, forgettably black hair, the only really interesting feature of her would be her striking jade eyes which glimmer like a diamond in the rough. Her clothes are usually immaculate, and her body shows no scarring whatsoever - but her skin is a bleached hue and her eyes are ringed with the dark shadows of sleepless nights. Perhaps that is why her expression is usually drawn into the stern demeanour, a slight frown of dislike passing off as her resting face.

Age:
87

Strengths:
- Observation: You'd think that someone like Hioshimi wouldn't be too incredible at spotting things, but when it comes to the gift of using your eyeballs Hioshimi could very well be a grandmaster. She notices very quickly, but her reaction times aren't quite as fast - this strength works better out of combat as she becomes quite the investigator.

- Intelligence: What's the good of being able to see things if you aren't also able to put together the pieces? Hioshimi's brain is certainly a precious lump of grey matter, as she can advise people upon the best course of action and give her thoughts on matters rather quickly...provided that she's got the jurisdiction to do so in the first place. No captain wants a lieutenant telling them what to do.

- Stamina: One of the strongest and most useful strengths in Hioshimi's arsenal is her ability to keep going even when exhausted. Being an insomniac has attuned her mind and body to working under exhaustion for extended periods of time, and she could quite easily keep working until she keels over, unconscious.

Weaknesses:
-Insomnia: One of her biggest weaknesses. Hioshimi's power uses it to an advantage but it affects everything she does, it hinders her movement, clouds her thoughts. It brings the irrational into this otherwise logical human being and if left unchecked for too long, sends her spiralling down into a teary, sobbing mess of temper tantrums and childish naivety.

-Strength (Lacking): Just...don't ask her to push any boulders around. She's not physically strong so she usually thinks her way around problems, and this also means that she gets hurt pretty easily. This is counterbalanced with her stamina, but she's not immortal - everyone bleeds, after all, and just because she can get up after a punch doesn't mean it's going to bloody hurt.

-Paranoia: Hioshimi tends to overthink things. A lot. Though usually her rationality and reason override this function, you can expect her to come up with outlandish theories and start throwing accusations the more she stays awake.

Place of Residence:
The Soul Society

Personality:
Hioshimi isn't exactly a very lively person. Her movements are quick-paced, but also seemingly unbalanced; she walks with the focused attention and care of a drunk. She yawns periodically and certainly doesn't prepossess, with a low spiritual pressure. Her prim-and-proper attitude leaves her workspace and her living space immaculate - she works in silence and makes sure everything she does is finished to a high standard. She tends to get even more irritable as she tired out, but eventually this gives way to an exhausted resignation and sulky attitude. She also becomes distinctly more childish as she tires.

Despite popular belief, she isn't always in a bad mood; she takes pleasure in being busy and doing something, considering idleness to be counter-productive. She's happiest when she's working alongside someone, since loneliness affects even the strictest of people. Finally, Hioshimi is a believer that respect must be earned, not demanded, and looks for this in her squad members.

History:
The Fujioka Murders were cast aside as a cold case many, many years ago. Nobody honestly considered the depth and the significance of the killings to the friends and family of the victims, nor the importance that fate had cast upon the murderer, right down to the specific times and places he had to be in for the entire death to work out as it did.

Before we approach this subject, however, it would be important to set the scene. Fujioka (Wisteria Hill, in English) is a city in Gunma Prefecture, Japan. It had a population of 70,675 around the time of Hioshimi's birth, but her mother said that her daughter's heart held the tenacity of a thousand people. Her father worked as a construction worker, whilst her mother remained unemployed. They lived in a small house in the suburbs, where her mother liked to read to her only daughter whilst she was growing up. Fujioka was a city surrounded by high mountains, sparkling rivers and flat, still lakes where the sky's reflection could be seen perfectly.

Hioshimi grew up to be an introverted waif of a girl, uninterested in making too many friends and instead retreating into the fictional worlds of storybooks. She had a small group of girls as playmates, and even sported a few idle love interests - but her true lust lay within the immeasurable depths of knowledge. Hioshimi believed that in order to be stronger, she must be smart, for then life's difficulties became easy and simple. Her travels through her teen years were incredibly normal - middle school, high school, bullies, friends, love life, more knowledge, first exams and all of the stress they brought with them. No drinking, smoking or drug abuse, all in all a quiet girl leading a quiet and ordinary life.

Meanwhile, behind the scenes, a 45 year old man by the name of Rozuko Kirashu became sick and twisted for reasons beyond his control. A schizophrenic and a pervert, this man decided that in order to sate his dark needs, a group of people had to die by his hand. He began his plans in the darkness of his apartment and scrutinized every single minor detail, leading towards December the 29th on one, fateful year.

Hioshimi was 19 when she was murdered, and it happened in the town square.

She was out and about with her small group of friends, when one of them - Imiki - stretched and yawned in her yellow parka, admitting defeat and telling her friends she was going to go to bed instead of staying up any longer. As she turned to leave, a sudden bang and a 9mm hole appeared in the side of her skull, leaving her lifeless body in the snow. Hioshimi had exactly 17 minutes to register the situation, trying to save her friend from death, despite the fact she was clearly gone. She heard another girl's screams, and managed to look up just in time to see the large, neon sign of the clubhouse they were approaching speeding towards her skull very very quickly.

The records clearly state that the bullet bounced off of a street lamp and severed the steel wires holding the sign in place, causing the second death, but it seemed like too good of an accident to be one. The police looked for the killer for several months afterwards, and six more people were killed in the same manner - a gunshot to the head of the initial target, then an 'accident' befalling the secondary target. But Rozuko was a scrupulous and detailed man; he left no footprint. The police finally deemed it a cold case around April, with no further murders occurring - mainly because Rozuko subsequently died from alcohol poisoning in his flat in March trying to drink away his guilt.

Hioshimi spent several weeks as a Plus, watching the investigation occur and trying to figure out her own death. Eventually, she was sent to the Soul Society and lived in District 12 of Rukongai with a large family to which she was not related to. She found out two things very quickly - the first, was that she couldn't sleep (or, at least, couldn't sleep well) in this new life. This was later linked to trauma from Imiki's last words, but evolved into something more during her time as a soul. The second was that she was one of the few who started starving - her family fed her regularly until she joined the Spiritual Arts Academy.

Upon entering the Academy, she found it to lie in rubble and ruin due to the external forces that wreaked havoc upon the Gotei 13. Her training was initially postponed as she was conscripted to aid in the rebuilding of the facilities; those years were the hardest in her afterlife, but also built the foundation (and the muscle tone) for her zanjutsu. Without the menial labour tasks she had to endure, the consequential training it would've taken her to be able to endure the exercise routines would have delayed her academic progress.

She flourished in the Academy - mainly due to the fact that she was able to train so hard and for extended periods of time. Her combat with the sword was limited at best, but it was clear that her skills in Kido were above average from the start. She held a high regard for the complex workings of the magics and practised them regularly. After graduation, she was assigned to squad 5, under Nogitsune Hibiki.

It's well known that, at the start, her attitude towards her Captain was rough at the best of times. She loathed the man's ability to remain constantly relaxed (mainly out of jealousy that he had the ability in the first place) and questioned his responsibility as a Captain. Nevertheless, she inadvertently started rising through the ranks as her temper simmered down and she began to tolerate the Captain more and more. Her promotion to Lieutenant was graciously accepted - having been through enough under Hibiki's guard to be able to trust him - and she now uses her new-found authority to simultaneously make sure Hibiki's work is under control and that the squad members are working hard.

Shikai Abilities:
Fuminshiyou's spells are dependent on the level of reiatsu Hioshimi is emitting, because the more reiatsu being emitted means Hioshimi has less control over her reiryoku, meaning she is becoming more and more tired. This means that the more exhausted she becomes, the stronger she gets - but naturally, it's a dangerous method of fighting because she can reach full power for a few minutes and then pass out.

1. Jieido Souga: Simple, straight-forward attack. By slashing downwards, Fuminshiyou leaves a ribbon of green light in her wake - this separates into a metre long ribbon of light, as sharp as the blade on her Zanpakuto but as fluid as silk. Fuminshiyou can summon two of these ribbons at a time - one to be directed by the blade, the other to be directed by Hioshimi. They can become damaged and shatter after being hit multiple times, and act as a way of using sword attacks from a ranged distance. They can only go a certain distance before the crumble away without Hioshimi's reiatsu to power them.

2. Utsutsuzeme: It has to be activated by increased reiatsu; Fuminshiyou's white steel blade turns jade green. Each cut managed by the blade induces amplified drowsiness, weakening her foe slowly and steadily.

3. Riaru Akumu: Using reiatsu and amplified by her zanpakuto, Fuminshiyou is swept in a circle - this casts an illusion around her foe to project their deepest fear in a dark, seemingly enclosed space. It lasts until Hioshimi uses another zanpakuto ability, and works primarily as a distraction and a vision-inhibiting technique. Usually, however, it doesn't last that long at all, because it's the second-strongest attack she can use.

4. Suimin Fuzui: A self-sacrifical move in and of itself, and a very risky one at that. If fired correctly, it can paralyse the target - or mutliple targets - to be finished off with even the most simple of attacks, but done incorrectly and it might hit a friendly target and paralyse them instead. It needs a lot of reiatsu to activate, and the only way Hioshimi can use it is if she's tired, which lowers her accuracy. Essentially, it is a fluid stream of green light which, when it touches another person, paralyses them. It lasts for as long as Hioshimi can remain conscious for, so it can hit multiple targets if necessary. The movement of Shimin Fuzui is unpredictable and barely controllable for a few second after Hioshimi passes out, before it flickers and fades.

Bankai Phrase:
Hioshimi has no clue what her Bankai even is. She hasn't reached that level yet.

She actually probably could have gone to 12 too to mass hilarity given that Shinobu has beyond Kyoraku levels of work evasion. He is, however, a quincy, though captains and VCs are known to often not match in abilities. As long as it fits in the division trend.

@RainyDays i'll make the edit so your character is the Lieutenant, but be sure to finish her sheet before posting ^^.

Fair warning: I'll be at a convention this weekend and I'll be attending a number of events. I don't know the net situation so I don't know if I would even be able to post if I have the time. I'll be back Sunday afternoon, evening though.

Also, @AllThePasta I wonder if I shouldn't give Hibiki converted Kido scores since he had more proficiency in Hado than Bakudo. Like, he'd be at 15 Hado and 9 Bakudo. It would still average to his 12 but would give a better sense of what he can do.

Have fun at the convention! (Don't forget to bring Pics! Jk. But seriously,Have fun, I'd go into something like that in august.)

You could just as well make a note of the discrepancy rather than doing stat splits which can get strange.

Should i add them as seperate stats?
