- Fantasy is my #1; I will give almost anything a chance if it has strong fantasy elements. Post apocalyptic, superhero, alternate history, science fantasy, some supernatural, romance, and a few fandoms (especially Game of Thrones) are also likely to catch my eye.
I think I've figured out why that happens. If you get a notification for new stuff in a thread and then don't open that alert or go to the thread manually, it seems like the system just holds onto that one until you open the thread again. The system is all based on your last visit to the thread, not on whether or not you've seen the alert, so if you care about still getting alerts you should always open the thread even if you don't plan on reading the new posts immediately.

Read American Gods by Neil Gaiman, it will give you a quick and silly but utterly wonderfully modern take on the Norse pantheon.
Otherwise, you can always find some decent translations of the old Norse myths and sagas online or in some cheap book form nowadays. ;)

@DuskNDawn - Just have your character start a rap battle with a baddie. Elendra rolls for how sick your rhymes are. Perfect roll means you burn them so bad they all just pack it in and run home, critical failure ends with you choking on a terrible Dr. Seuss line and being attacked in retaliation.
