So lol I just spent the entirety of my shower imagining the rp as a legit jrpg game and imagining the mechanics of how it would all work and I was just wondering if anyone else has ever done that? Lol
To hearken back to the best days of jrpgs the game itself would most likely be topdown 2D character sprites in a 3D rotatable world like Trails in the Sky is, with the battle system itself being inspired by the Tales of series and having actual controllable characters with light melee attacks and customisable moves with every single character being used, and the number of characters assigned to a battle would be bigger then the typical four due to the number of rp characters to probably 6 or 8 (or in my wonderful hopes of dreams the entire cast depending on the scene 8D) because I absolutely loathe having like a party of eight in an rpg but only being able to use four of them in a battle >:c
Battles and enemies would naturally scale in number as well to make for epic battles, even for lesser enemies, and bosses would become that much more powerful. Boss Fights would also be split into different segments, with each segment being reached when the enemy boss' health is reduced to a certain point which would then lead to a more action packed quick time event cutscene to replicate awesome moves from the rp which a typical game system couldn't repeat. Boss music would probably also take a cue from Metal Gear Rising where each subsequent boss segment would get more and more hype music, beginning with just instrumentals to then incorporating vocals on top. Would be awesome 8D
Dungeons would be inspired more from Golden Sun then some other traditional jrpg dungeons which are a boring case of getting from one point to another. Golden Sun had puzzles, and required the use of magic and other abilities to affect the dungeon/field overworld in order to progress. So things like Moira pushing boulders, Quentin dousing holes with water to create puddles that Marcus ices up to make hoppable columns, Lisette encouraging the growth of vines to allow characters to climb them, Estelle burning down webs and thorns etcetc. Maybe other passive abilities like Thunderhawk granting a wider field of view (since he's a ranger) and Trixie could create a smokescreen that'd confuse and stop chasing enemies from pursuing!
Item and Character interaction would involve heavy, gratuitous amounts of dialogue like Trails and small conversations between characters, such as examining a market stall in Fenaru would have a small conversation between Selan, Moira and Amy offering opinions on it. There'd be lighthearted party skits like from Tales. Customisable costumes. Sidequests such as having Thunderhawk as your main party leader talk to every single female npc, or Amy talking to every pig. Rhythm Minigames with Selan and Don singing and dancing to songs. A first person target shooting practice with Trixie and Lisette. An in-depth pet cultivation sim for Kapi and Cap like the Chao system from Sonic Adventure.
WHY IS ALL THIS NOT A REALITY GFDI
