The Legend of Heroes: Tales of the World OOC

So lol I just spent the entirety of my shower imagining the rp as a legit jrpg game and imagining the mechanics of how it would all work and I was just wondering if anyone else has ever done that? Lol

To hearken back to the best days of jrpgs the game itself would most likely be topdown 2D character sprites in a 3D rotatable world like Trails in the Sky is, with the battle system itself being inspired by the Tales of series and having actual controllable characters with light melee attacks and customisable moves with every single character being used, and the number of characters assigned to a battle would be bigger then the typical four due to the number of rp characters to probably 6 or 8 (or in my wonderful hopes of dreams the entire cast depending on the scene 8D) because I absolutely loathe having like a party of eight in an rpg but only being able to use four of them in a battle >:c

Battles and enemies would naturally scale in number as well to make for epic battles, even for lesser enemies, and bosses would become that much more powerful. Boss Fights would also be split into different segments, with each segment being reached when the enemy boss' health is reduced to a certain point which would then lead to a more action packed quick time event cutscene to replicate awesome moves from the rp which a typical game system couldn't repeat. Boss music would probably also take a cue from Metal Gear Rising where each subsequent boss segment would get more and more hype music, beginning with just instrumentals to then incorporating vocals on top. Would be awesome 8D

Dungeons would be inspired more from Golden Sun then some other traditional jrpg dungeons which are a boring case of getting from one point to another. Golden Sun had puzzles, and required the use of magic and other abilities to affect the dungeon/field overworld in order to progress. So things like Moira pushing boulders, Quentin dousing holes with water to create puddles that Marcus ices up to make hoppable columns, Lisette encouraging the growth of vines to allow characters to climb them, Estelle burning down webs and thorns etcetc. Maybe other passive abilities like Thunderhawk granting a wider field of view (since he's a ranger) and Trixie could create a smokescreen that'd confuse and stop chasing enemies from pursuing!

Item and Character interaction would involve heavy, gratuitous amounts of dialogue like Trails and small conversations between characters, such as examining a market stall in Fenaru would have a small conversation between Selan, Moira and Amy offering opinions on it. There'd be lighthearted party skits like from Tales. Customisable costumes. Sidequests such as having Thunderhawk as your main party leader talk to every single female npc, or Amy talking to every pig. Rhythm Minigames with Selan and Don singing and dancing to songs. A first person target shooting practice with Trixie and Lisette. An in-depth pet cultivation sim for Kapi and Cap like the Chao system from Sonic Adventure.

Dear God above first you get emotional now you get sensational

Oooh, I really like those ideas! Personally though, being the angry action type, I imagined an adventure-ish system like Dragon's Dogma or Skyrim. But mostly DD because pawns are awesome if they only knew when to shut up. What was that game again that's pretty good too...? Ah! Brave Story: New Traveler! The friend combos there were pretty cool too. Imagine Lute doing a combo with... .____. I didn't really design him to be a team player, did I? *shot* Someone give me an idea.

Specifically for this chapter (and future ones, maybe) you can play a minigame where you try to calm Lute by thinking happy thoughts! Gather as many potatoes as you can! ;D

Elite Beat Agents but with potatoes and dogs. Bad end includes pictures of a roasted blobfish and Lucien's happy face.

Also, because I'm a sucker for interaction and choices, I really want there to be friendship-building stuff like maybe Fire Emblem: Awakening where people have cute bonding moments after getting hit together and seeing each other's blood spurt about for a set amount of time... But more interaction-y. Gimme those copious amounts of dialogue, baby. And choices. AND INTERRUPTS PLEASE.

Like the boss you are meant to be.

Let's be honest Lute will be that fucking crumb who helps everyone and pets babies. He'd be that guy you adored in Telltale's The Walking Dead or that one Fable who's actually decent to Bigby in The Wolf Among Us, but then he dies in five minutes screen time.

I hope this isn't a reality because let's face it if I can customize what Lute's clothes look like he'd come down with a bad case of the uglies.

Yeah, I had a thought of the more open world and action-y type game for a battle system, and I think that'd be neat too so long as the character's moveset was customisable enough and the battling was fluid. 8D There was a game called Infinite Undiscovery that did this and also did the thing where every single member of the 20ish big party would be on the field battling, something I'd naturally love... but the game was DOGSHIT. It was the first game I played for the 360 and almost soured me on the console completely D| I really need to play DD sometime. Got it on PS+ but... lol

Interactivity and friendship convos and skits would be awesome to help unlock combo attacks and extra funny scenes! 8D Not sure how well a choice system would work if it was to follow the rp's story since the story's pretty much set in stone but it could offer some interesting opportunities. I do try to implement it in the rp though if I can. *laughs at all of you during the Weir chapter*

or that one Fable who's actually decent to Bigby in The Wolf Among Us, but then he dies in five minutes screen time.
Don't lie, there was no Fable decent to Bigby in that game

Even Toad's own son gives him shit gdi

If Lute was there you bet he'd be Bigby's friend. Finally, finaaaallly one episode where you don't have to suffer trash talk from characters and they willingly help you with stuff. And give you free cookies!

Even Snow gives Bigby a ton of shit talk lol

Posted~

Also, sounds like a cool game idea. To put my input in.

I found this video and holy shit I need to check up on this guy more often (and yes, I'm poking fun at myself with this vid)

Also I'll be happy any game as long as it's 3D and gorgeously modeled and animated because I am a shallow bastard.

Weird Al is a beautiful, beautiful man

Switching my posting times back to evenings since I'm at work first thing in the morning! Bah.

I'm trying to draw the Cogsworths, but then I realise I've never really completed a drawing of Xan and I'm having a bit of trouble getting her how I picture it haha! I'll give it a go.

In the meantime I did a warmup sketch of a younger Moira. Maybe in her 20s or something. I've been in a doodle-y mood I guess and that's no bad thing haha.

BUNS DO WARMUP DOODLE SKETCHES OF EVERYONE'S MUGS PLS

8D I love it so much! Moira is so fab and hot and awesome <3 I like how this is before her nost got broked 8D

Sorry that short post is short! I only have a little bit of time between getting together with a friend and DnD. Damn, when did my Saturdays become so fricking busy?

Also, Buns, that's a gorgeous sketch of Moira. I absolutely love it. Keep them coming! Keep spoiling me with your beautiful art!

Moira is a hottie pottatie

EDIT: Just a head's up my internet will be down til Tuesday. -.- By "down" I mean our speed is like 0.5 mb/s, which is horrid lol. So I'll be posting with typos & all from my phone next two rounds :D

Hi everyone~ Wahhh I've been busy all day with homework, my group project is barely coming together and we have to present on Wednesday ;_;

Anyway, I'm going to try and get my post up now, this might count for today's though (meaning yesterday was technically a skip) since I'm probably going to be just as busy tomorrow but I can't stay up until 5am again @.@

Edit: Post is up! I just wanted to put a reminder that Mrs. Potts and Chip are there when the Beast is supposed to appear even if she only has one line, so please don't forget to include Selan and Trixie if writing broadly about everyone in the scene c:

Buns, your art is always fantastic ;A;

Also, I'm going to call the next post @__@ but if it isn't up in the next hour and half, the internet prolly died again. It's been wonky all day...

I'll post after, then. It seems that the scene progressed a lot faster than I wanted, so I'm gonna have to cut back on a few planned scenes. :) No biggie though, Act 1 is supposed to go by fast.

Anyhoo. *waits*

I feel really weird after eating that fried chicken that smells and tastes like cinnamon

Yeah we missed Maurice and Belle's scene together and his wacky experiments! The Dad puns! *cries*

I'll not be posting until quite a bit later today since I'm at my parents' house for lunch, but I'll definitely have one up by the end of the day :) If you want Kei, you could still write Lute and Lucien's interactions together in a short post? I'd love to see it, but I also do appreciate Fox's moving on as well, helps keep the scenes flowing and such. :)

Writing a post~
