What Lurks Beneath the Sky

Maggie quickly pulled together what she needed for the drinks that were demanded, then looked up as a man stepped up to the bar. She gave him a smile that lit up her deep crimson eyes and nodded once, pulling out an additional two glasses and filling them swiftly. Carefully setting them in front of the pair, she gave the woman a smile as well. "Enjoy," she said, scooping up her tray and vanishing from behind the counter once more to dish out the orders. Soon she was back, slipping the tray under the counter and glancing at Pete with a faint frown. "It's awfully dead in here tonight, where is everybody?" she asked absently, pouring herself a glass of water before slicing up some limes to refill the jar below the counter. It was so deserted, she was tempted to start sweeping up already.

Andy sighed as she walked, sticking to the shadows. Skulking around... She suddenly felt out of place, which was strange. Sneaking about at night, staying away from sanctuaries, that was how she had always lived. But now, outside by herself, she felt truly alone. She felt exposed, as if Magehunters could see her from miles away.

Why was this happening? Andy shook her head. It was the beer, it had to be, it was making her emotional.

Andrea stumbled again, falling into the light of a street-lamp. "Damn," she said, pulling herself up. Andy dusted herself off and slunk back into the shadows. She leaned against the wall of the nearest building and slid to the ground, sleepy.

"You shouldn't be here" Victor said, appearing out of the shadows next to Andy. He still rested on his cane but managed to sneak up on her silently, even when compared to vampires. Even though it was dark, Victor still wore a wide brimmed hat to protect his frail body from the left over heat from the suns rays. Coughing up a small amount of his disgusting mist, he carefully lowered himself down next to her. "I'm sorry I followed you, Andrea, but I was worried. Is everything alright?" He sighed and peered into the darkness across from the building, "You know, you're gonna have to help me up after this."

For a little while, Raven was trapped in her mind. The memories, both good and grim, replayed in her mind, closing out just about everything.
She blinked when she realized that the Void Summoner had spoken to her and that the others had gone. She laughed lightly. "It has it's moments. Though there are times one get's fed up and needs to step away."
She fingered the glass of lighter grade booze, thinking back once more to her days in Hiorn. "I don't know if he still does. Haven't been back in 8 years..."

Andy's eyes were half-closed and her voice was quiet, but slurring, as she spoke. "Everything's alright. I haven't had so many drinks for a long time, I may have gone overboard tonight..." She tried opening her eyes for a moment, but they drooped again. "Old man," she said, her voice somewhat stronger. "I don't think I'll get to be as old as you," she told him.

"I respect you." Andrea's eyes flickered open and she pushed herself against the wall, spirit back to a standing position. She grabbed Victor's arm gently and helped him up. "Come on, you need to sleep again," Andy said to him.

Asura bit his lip nervously. "So... Where do we go from here?" He said, taking off his cloak and throwing it beside the bed. He didn't need an answer fomr her mouth. Her eyes said it all... He took her by the hand and led her past he shimmering and slowly flickering red and blue lights towards the bed. They sat down on the edge of the bed. Asura brushed the hair out of Veela's face and behind her ear and ran his fingers down her soft and supple face. "This is probably the first time that I have had the oppertunity to interact with someone so intimately since I started running... I don't want to run any more..." he said leaning a little closer. He was beginning to breathe more heavily now as he was rather nervous as to what her reaction would be to his advances...

Veela was nervous. The sheer fact that she had only once before had anything intimate with anyone made her rather unexperienced in this sort of situation. Though she welcomed his advance as he led her to the bed, she didn't know how else to react, so as he leaned in, she did as well, kissing him. Of course, her outward appearance would make her seem aggressive, the kiss was soft, and sweet. She seemed to, for once, actually enjoy this.

She pulled away for a moment, to speak. "This is where we go from here. Don't count on me leaving without a fight, Asura." She smiled that cute little smile again. "I'll be honest here. I'm unexperienced, so lets take this slow. Besides, I'm worried as to what that Void Summoner downstairs will do." Veela kissed him again, awaiting his response.

((But of course. It's a jump in, which is always open to public entities joining.))

(( Ok Thanks :) ))

Andar opened the filing cabinet to see the only file that was supposed to be there was gone. Where did he put it? He went back to his desk and turned on his light, with a button installed into the desk. He opened the left hand drawer and found it was not in there either. Damn, he thought. He turned to the right hand drawer and found it in there. Andar, relieved, looked at the title to see if it was the right file; it was. It read: Current Vampyr Captives. He opened it, pulled out a paper and read:

Current number in Sector 87: 37

Sector 88: 64

Sector 89: 0

Andar was going to change that very soon. It was his duty as Warden of the city prison, Garnalay. He then went over to the other filing cabinet and pulled out another paper: Most Wanted. The only name on the paper read: Asura. Andar pressed a button and a huge screen popped up near the huge collection of books on the bigger side of the room. The screen sported a list of the wanted people in this province. Asura was at the top. Andar would be the one to catch him. He promised himself.

Being bored had never worked out in Maggie's favor. Already she had dusted all of the liquor bottles, washed the dishes, polished the sections of the counter that weren't being used, and washed the tables. Now she was finishing up sweeping, a cheerful smile on her face as she hummed to herself. Her deep crimson eyes looked almost dark brown when she wasn't directly in the light, and she had long since pulled her long chestnut locks up into a messy bun to get it out of the way. A few pieces framed her face, a marked difference against her pale skin. She had carefully worked around the pair that were still there, taking great care to not disturb them or make them seem as though they were in the way. They weren't, she was just trying to occupy herself by getting things done early. Finally Pete couldn't take any more of her fidgeting and dismissed her for the night, telling her to come in for the afternoon to make up the lost hours. She agreed with a sigh and grabbed her cloak, then slipped out the door.

"Fly away, fly away home," she sang to herself softly as she went down the sidewalk, a slight smile on her lips as she danced her way past a light post. Keeping a cheerful disposition was the only way to stay even somewhat optimistic in this city, it seemed. Pete kept warning her not to draw so much attention to herself outside of the bar, but the streets were nearly deserted and she saw no harm in it. She looked all around, taking in the darkened buildings and the shape of the prison that she had to pass on her way home. "Come, come back to me, sweet birdchild," she continued to sing contentedly, toying with the winged flower pendant that hung from her neck.

Victor walked through the dark allies with Andrea, "Thank you for that compliment," he said, as they strode through the night, "It really does mean something to know that it's not just Pete and Asura that give a damn." He sighed and then continued for a bit in silence, walking through the dark city. "I know you don't want to, but would you accompany me back to the bar?" Even though he knew she wouldn't like it, he had to ask. "Asura can be a real idiot when he's drunk and Pete doesn't say or do much these days but they can keep us safe until the Mage Hunters make the first move." Victor tried to look into her eyes but was rudely interrupted by a fit of coughing, and nearly vomited blood rather than his usual mist. "You're right," he coughed and sighed, "I do need some more sleep. I suppose I'll wake up when something interesting happens in this city."

As Asura's lips met Vee's, a strong tingle ran through his entire body. He shivered slightly with excitement as he took the second kiss. He wiggled a little closer to Vee and they both lay down together on the roundinsh bed. He looked into her eyes that semmed to be oceanic pools that stretched on eternally. "We should probably get some sleep." said Asura finally as he held her head to his chest. He stroked her hair gently as he watched the flowing lights lining the walls.

Andar opened his car door and sat in the passenger seat. A Hunter sat next to him, his pitch black armor shining in the moonlight. Andar nodded. The Hunter did as well, starting the vehicle. He pulled out of the lot and made a right turn. Two cars behind his did so as well, mirroring Andar's car. The wind blew in from the south where they were headed. I have you in my finger tips, Asura. Andar looked toward the moon. It shone so bright it was like a white version of the sun. He looked away when he saw movement in an alleyway. "Stop the car." He told the driver. He poked his head out the window. "You! In the alley! What are you doing out so late?"

"Not a bad idea." Veela welcomed the embrace.

She figured that, in the morning, they'd ask everyone what they'd like to do. She knew it'd be better to stay in a group, and stay out of whatever war is starting between the hunters and well, us.

"Oh my" Victor coughed, shading his eyes from the unnecessarily bright headlight on such a clear night, "I'm sorry sirs." he said, trying his best to unnaturally slur his words. "I losht track of time at the watshamacallit while i was getting shet fasst" He moved infront of Andy, trying to block the view of her from the man in the car, "My daughter here was jusht walking me home" he lied.
Victor readied himself to push Andrea out of the way and fight, but hoping that he wouldn't have to because of her exausted state. 'Ugh, something interesting happens and both of us aren't ready for this fight', he thought, 'this is just like when they came the first time'.

Andy put a hand on Victor's arm. "Father," she began, "I'll be fine." Andrea's voice was strong, as if the chance of a fight had woken her up and taken away any signs of drunkenness.

She stepped forward, standing beside the elder. "If you'll allow us, I think my father should get home," she told the hunters. Andrea smiled at them warmly. She was prepared to fight if it came to it, but she hoped it wouldn't come to that.

Andar looked the man over suspiciously. "Have you been drinking?" It was obvious he has been, from his slurred speech. Andar decided he was no trouble. "Your okay, citizen. Head back home immediately. One of my guards will escort you two home." Andar could not risk a drunk walking the streets at night. The last thing he needed was for a drunken man messing around with the other citizens of the city. Or worse, killing one. A guard climbed out the back of the last car in the column, and gestured for them to move along.

Andy swore under her breath. Now what would they do? They didn't have a home to be escorted back to. They couldn't head back to the bar now, they couldn't go near it. That would risk getting the others caught.

"Sir, I can handle my father perfectly well," Andrea said. "An escort would be unnecessary, I'm sure your men have more important things to do."
