Name
Marceline the Vampire Queen
Race
Half-demon originally, later turned vampiric
Nationality
The Land of Ooo
Abilities
Marceline is the daughter of Hunson Abadeer, Lord of Evil and demonic ruler of the Nightosphere, and an unnamed human woman. As such, she was born a hybrid of the two species, this being the cause of her pale blue-grey skin and pointed ears, and she is naturally far stronger, faster, tougher and more agile than an ordinary human. Otherwise her sole demonic power is the ability to suck out and absorb the souls of others, adding their magical powers (if any) to her own, which enabled her to amass the abilities of several powerful vampires she slayed in her youth.
Before killing the then-Vampire King, Marceline was bitten and transformed into a vampire herself. This halted her aging, rendering her immortal and giving a further increase to her physical power, but the price was a painful vulnerability to sunlight and inability to eat anything except the color red. Contrary to traditional vampires, it is the color itself that sustains her, not actual blood-- She can suck shades of red from anything using her fangs, leaving the object a colorless grey. Blood itself seems to be more efficient nourishment, however (albeit one she usually doesn't indulge in willingly), and if she's deprived for too long she will become increasingly feral and eventually attack anyone close enough mindlessly in an attempt to drain them.
The bulk of Marceline's powers come from the souls she took from the Vampire King and his followers after defeating them. These include casual levitation and flying, pyrokinesis, telekinesis, invisibility, necromancy, rapid healing and regeneration, shapeshifting into several monstrous forms, and possibly further abilities that have yet to be displayed; hypnosis and hydrokinesis were among the powers of the vampires she killed, but she herself hasn't been seen using them. A normal vampire wouldn't be so awesome, but being a half-demon who steals souls makes her kind of a repository for powers.
She has magic clothes. They transform and reform along with her without damage, so she never gets naked without meaning to.
She's crazy old, like a bajillion.
Actually a little over 1000. She can recall most of her life with perfect clarity, but she keeps these memories to herself and has trouble truly expressing anything about them except through song.
Though not particularly skilled or trained, she is a somewhat competent fighter who knows how to swing around axes and stuff. However, she relies more on her powers, which she is extremely proficient at using in battle. Still, her sheer tenacity can make her dangerous regardless of any technical skill or lack thereof-- Many of her battles against the Vampire King's court were waged without the powers she takes for granted now, which she only absorbed after killing the vampire nobles on her own merit.
She has an unmatched passion and talent for music. UNMATCHED, VAS. UNMAAAAAAAAAAAAATCHED. She can seemingly play basically any instrument and has a singing voice that sounds like it belongs to a professional singer-songwriter slash voice actress or something.

Bio (IT'S NOT SHORT OH GOD WH-
Once, over a thousand years ago, there existed a planet that could've almost been considered a twin world to the modern Earth that waged war with the Galra Empire hundreds of years later, if there were anyone to make the comparison. Though the planet's name and its people have long since faded from memory, their society, technology, and even architecture was like a mirror image of the world known as Sol before its stand against the empire that oppressed them, enough so that denizens of either world could've easily looked into the other and mistaken it for their own. It was a world too advanced to be considered primitive and too primitive to be considered advanced, and so it went mostly ignored by the various spacefaring civilizations that had already reached out into the stars. There was, however, magic there to be found if you looked hard enough, outlandish stories of entities from other dimensions paying visits or magical artifacts that could spin wonders that went mostly dismissed as fantastical nonsense. Some things were just too crazy to be true. Life, for all its quirks and complexities, was relatively straightforward, commerce and progressiveness leading the way ahead. Perhaps one day they would've been ready to reach out into the galaxies above.
That day never came. But the day the galaxies reached for them did.
The Galra Empire was well into its millennia-spanning conquest of the stars by the time they arrived at this world. Their approach was no different to any of the others they had subjugated, and yet this world fought. Their spirit, too, was identical to that of Sol's a thousand years later; The Galrans, their superiority displayed, expected pacification and were met with revolution.
And they responded with annihilation.
None of the world's wonders, advancements or defiances were enough to save them. Their military was crushed, their cities burned and their societies extinguished, and the Galrans left the world that was of little true interest to them to begin with a wasteland devoid of life. Or, so they thought. True, complete genocide required more vehemence than the casual irritation the Galrans treated this particular planet with. A speck of humanity remained on the rock, surviving and foraging amongst the wreckage of the old world, and resilient animal species endured as they always did. Magic was even more difficult to snuff out, a force now untamed by humankind that began to seep out further and further into the lands.
And then things got weird.
The world that was died, but the land of Ooo is what rose up from the ashes in its place. Post-war radiation and magic made for a strange evolutionary modifier over the next several centuries, interacting and hastening development as though they sensed the planet's anguish and worked tirelessly to heal it. The landscape changed and grew bizarre. Creatures that weren't sentient became sentient, and things that weren't even creatures became so. A thousand years passed and the world, now called Ooo by its inhabitants, was as far removed from its predecessor as it could get, a world filled with magic that shot ahead scientifically and was populated by strange and absurd creatures that would've been considered the stuff of dreams by the people who came before. But they were gone, all that remained of the old world its shadow in the form of crumbled ruins long-buried by the elements.
Well, maybe that wasn't all that remained. Some said a human child somehow roamed the lands, seeking adventure. Some believed the crazy old man who ruled the Ice Kingdom had walked through the old world himself, though he was too deranged to remember any of it. And some even believed that there were those who were true remnants of the world before, who had lived in it and seen it die, who had survived its holocaust and endured to this day.
But those stories went mostly dismissed as fantastical nonsense. Some things were just too crazy to be true.

Marceline's past, rarely divulged, is left vague and mysterious. What is known is that even back then, the child born of a person and a demon was an especially rare thing. Her earliest memories are of living in a trailer with her mother, who she loved wholeheartedly and who raised her predominantly alone. Her father, though he did visit occasionally and try to be a dad, was kind of the lord of a fiery hell dimension and just never had time for her, so as a kid her mother was her only real family. Those early years were cramped, isolated due to her demonism, and plagued by bad dreams, but she loved her mom and that made them happy.
When the final clouds of the Mushroom War dispersed, she was five and left alone without any idea what to do. While crying in the middle of a destroyed street one day, she was happened across by a foraging survivor named Simon, an eccentric man who looked almost as bizarre as she did and carried a strange crown. He refused to leave her by herself, and quickly succeeded in making her smile by bringing her a stuffed doll from the nearby collapsed store. After telling each other their names they agreed to stick together; before long, the kind man became more of a father to her than anyone else she'd ever known, and he loved her like a daughter in return. For all they knew they were the last two people living on a destroyed planet, but even then they were able to bring each other some strange measure of happiness.
It was happiness with a shelf life. They both tried to ignore it for as long as they could, but Simon's grip on sanity was gradually slipping day by day, and after a few short years it reached the point where she was taking care of him more than vice versa. She didn't fully understand it at the time, but there was a reason the two of them survived when so many others had perished: magic. Marceline was half-demon from birth, but Simon, an archaeologist prior to the apocalypse, had uncovered an artifact before the war that was keeping him alive now. The crown was what made his skin blue and his beard white, what preserved his body but twisted his mind-- He spoke to it as if it was more important to him than his companion sometimes, and there were days when he'd put it on and start acting different, even threatening. Eventually, recognizing what was happening to him, he abandoned Marceline by herself despite her pleading him not to, afraid of what would happen if he stayed with her any longer. Not long after that, Simon was gone, not just in presence but in mind. All that was left was the Ice King.
She was alone again after this, though at some point her father materialized for one of his "visits" only to find the world had been destroyed since his last one. He seemingly remained with her for a time, but when she was a teenager he ate her fries without asking and ruined their relationship forever. At this point she was more than capable of fending for herself, and as she matured she wandered alongside a poodle she'd befriended and named Schwabl. Years passed, but she still found herself lonely and directionless after Simon's abandonment. At some point as a young adult she encountered and began to battle a court of vampires who had risen to power after the war by preying on and dominating tribes of human survivors, as much a bid to free herself from the slump she was trapped in as to help people in need. She worked her way through the court, slaying vampires and taking their powers, until she reached the Vampire King himself. She was able to kill him, but not before he bit her and transformed her into a vampire as well as a final act of revenge. Sucked for him because she actually liked being a vampire, and the now-de facto Vampire Queen by right of conquest began referring to herself as such.
Most of her life following her siring is a mystery, but she lived the next thousand years without aging. What is known is that she persisted in Ooo as it was founded, fell in love with rock and roll for some reason and forged a close bond with a fellow immortal in Princess Bubblegum of the flourishing Candy Kingdom, though they fell out at some point over the years as the princess grew increasinglyinsane mature and devoted to her duties. She was busy winning Ooo's space race all by herself and establishing contact with other species, anyway, and Marceline had... guitar stuff... to do. Additionally, at some point during the long millennium the Ice King came across and began obsessing over her for reasons he couldn't quite put together in his muddled mind; though she never felt threatened by him, her heart was freshly broken every time she saw him the way he was and she began frequently moving to avoid him, resulting in her having lived in trees, caverns and caves all across Ooo.
While she developed a laid-back, mischievous and even funloving surface persona over her many years of living, she has a surprisingly low opinion of herself and believes she made no friends during that time. This gloomy view leads her to work under the automatic assumption that nobody she meets likes her, so she doesn't worry about offending them, doesn't bother humoring them and can often come off as unreasonable or just plain mean, without even being outright unpleasant. However, feeling like no one cared about her for the bulk of a thousand years has made her ironically somewhat desperate for attention of any kind, so she often pulls pranks, interjects in some way when she sees people having fun without her, pushes peoples' buttons and generally makes an intentional nuisance of herself so people will notice. This is also probably why she has a teaching job now. Despite this, she is the opposite of malicious and just wants people to think she's cool, often making stories up or otherwise inflating herself to make herself sound more mysterious and unflappable than she actually is. In reality she's surprisingly gentle and heartfelt for a vampire, which shows most prominently through her music.
Ooo (under Bubblegum's leadership) was among the worlds that rallied to reach out and support Earth when they took a stand against the Empire five years ago, and though it was commonly recognized by allies and enemies alike as that strange place that should never be visited they truly gave their all and endeared themselves in the eyes of many. Basically PB played that political game like a champ. Equally politically savvy was volunteering "a noble and harrowed victim of the Galra Empire's heinous past crimes!!!" to travel all the way to Earth as an envoy and support the touted Watchtower academy project. Which Marceline did. Reluctantly.
So she met with the headmistress, and at the interview for position of music teacher she sang about her eyebrows while strumming the bass guitar as a joke, not taking the meeting seriously. Because of this she was immediately hired.
