Powers/abilities:
Red Barrier: Red can surround himself in a Barrier of red light that surrounds his body it acts as a armor but is weightless and doesn't affect his movement either.
Red blast: Matthew is able to fire forward the same light that it's very powerful but can blast forward continuous beams.
Scientific explanation below
Red is able to super heat the gases creating plasma around his body that acts as a shield and a medium to fire energy forward that can be fired as long as needed as plasma is able to sustain itself forever.
Strengths:
Matthew is very nimble and fast and able to move around easily without much hassle.
Matthew is clever and he finds making strategic choices in combat easy.
Weaknesses:
Matthew is quite weak while he doesn't have his Barrier on.
Matthew has a tendency to get enraged easily.
Matthew looses a good bit of energy while creating the barrier so he can only use it 3 times per day if it breaks since one he has it up it can sustain itself.

Reason they are a hero/Villain/Neutral: Matthew always looked up to the many hero's and is still a bit of a nerd around them
History: Matthew grew up fascinated with the many heros of the world, amazed by what they could do and always wished he could join them. He was one of many though but he was clever and tried making some things that didn't work at all leaving him with nothing he could do. Both of Matthew's parents were scientist that worked on figuring out how superhero's got there powers before getting discovered by the military and they were put under house arrest. Matthew was confused about what was going on when members of the military came into the house and destroyed all of his parents research but a single vial Matthew found on the ground and he hid from his parents and the soilders.
Matthew wasn't sure what it was but he was very curious about what it was and when he went to school he waited the entire day and went into the biology lab. While inside he checked the affect of dropping a small bit of the liquid on a piece of onion skin and it looked like nothing happened until it was set on fire and a odd red glow began for a few seconds before breaking. Matthew wasn't sure what it meant and he ran home hoping his parent's wasn't to annoyed he was out so long after school. When he got home he made up some story of being with friends and he went up to his room to look at the vial more.
Later a few weeks later one of the soldiers must have spotted the vial Matthew always carried with him and went to check it out. As Matthew heard the front door open loudly and he tried to stop the door opening by pushing against it. Unfortunately the soldier was obviously stronger than a teenager and he was pushed back onto the floor and he landed on the vial smashing it and the liquid mixed in with his blood and was quickly distributed through his body while he was brought to the hospital. He awoke handcuffed to the hospital with a pain in his side. The confusion caused him to panic as he couldn't move very much as a dim red light surrounded him noticeable to anyone nearby him. One of the guards nearby looked back as he could hear Matthew struggling and called on of the doctors over to check what was going on and they found he had gain some odd power to increase the temperature around his body for a split second. The only people who know of his name and his powers are a few doctors and the higher ups in the government and military after he was released so he could help the public and his dreams came true.
Personality: Matthew is a hero but one that gets mad if someone tried hard enough, he is quite a nerd and while he tries to act calm on the outside he would be freaking out on the inside if he ever met one of the older super hero's or their sidekicks.
