Assallya regarded the eighteen foot tall behemoth, clad in black iron, stooping and shuffling awkwardly. Outside the steel monstrosity would be a true terror. However, inside the confines of a dungeon with tight corridors and columns holding up tons of rock it's twelve foot long sword was practically useless. There simply wasn't room to swing it in such close confines.
That didn't mean that it was defenseless or harmless. Used as a spear that long blade was still quite deadly and Assallya was quite glad to be hiding in the far back behind the rebels as it skewered one of their number. For sheer intimidation the thing chuckled, letting the screaming man slide down the length of his blade and then with a foot planted in the chest of the impaled man kicked him off like a catapult stone towards his own comrades.
The elven courtesan had to admit. The monolith's actions had their desired effect. She was intimidated.
Searching through her repertoire of incantations she quickly decided filling the giant armour clad figure with rage to be counter productive and then found herself wondering if the thing before her was even capable of fear. Considering her more powerful spells, those of binding and blindness and those to sap strength she finally decided on one.
"The snail's likeness in thee I tinder
stay thy arms, stay thy feet,
like manacles, thy limbs I hinder!
The spell caught hold. It didn't make the armoured figure harmless not like a spell of binding and paralysis but she hadn't been sure such a spell would affect such a powerful physique. Instead she was slowing the monolith's strikes, making it harder for them to connect with her allies but it didn't make him any less dead and the monolith was large enough that getting by him towards an escape dangerous. She certainly didn't want to risk rushing past if she could avoid it even if he was lethargic in his movements.
"Fetch fire and oil, there must be a lantern about somewhere," the elf suggested, remembering one upon a barrel heard where the guareds near their cells played dice, "we should roast him in his armour!"
