Stone Eagle Rebellion

Apparently the courtesan wasn't the only dirty player. The goblins Assallya had summoned peered about in confusion, their intended target gone missing, one even going so far as to scream shrilly and stab into the empty air where this Crim once was.

It took a fraction of a second for Assallya to realize that she was now not the only person standing behind Nyx, that Crim was now standing right beside her. Unfortunately, however, she had no weapon. She suddenly regretted letting the others take up arms. It was logical at the time and made it more likely she would survive but she hadn't anticipated a dangerous cryomancer standing toe to toe with herself. Worse still, she knew that her lifespan should Crim stab Nyx in the back would be measured in seconds.

"Lookout!" the Elven courtesan called out, flailing at the archmage with empty manicured hands.

She'd hoped to knock him off balance, to thwart his attack or at least delay him but Crim thrust her aside almost dismissively. Assallya was a small woman, and it took little effort. She fell hard to the floor of the guardsmen's chambers, laying out her length in a heap of golden curls, black silks and pale flesh. She watched helplessly as Crim made his attack.

"Defend", commands Nyx. The defense ward he held sinks into his flesh. As the icicle hits his back, it shatters and creates a sigil beneath Crim's feet. The sigil is weak and can be broken without much effort, but he had bought himself time to pick Assallya off of the ground and jump into the tunnels "we should be going to the courtyard now. Our chariot awaits."

"DAMN IT YOU FREAKS! I WILL GET YOU BACK FOR THIS!!!" Crim screamed. Once they were gone however he smiled to himself. Everything had gone according to plan. The rebels escaped from prison, the king would be furious and in his fury he wouldn't mind sending a squad of machinations to dispose of the threat. The cryomancer simply waved his hand and the sigil disappeared, he then snapped his fingers and was gone.

"Finally here I see. Come on then, chop chop or our heads will be!" Flint had used the time spent waiting to come up with that little rhyme and could say he was quite pleased with it. As the rebels ran down the sewers he caught up with Nyx and Assallya and asked, "so who was that chap? I didn't catch his name."

Assallya buttocks was plainly visible perched atop Nyx's shoulder, her slender legs, wrapped in silk, hanging down his torso and her bare feet dangling around his waist line. Her torso and head, however, were hanging down his back.

She stared at Nyx's buttocks. It's about all she could see while she was draped over his shoulder like a butcher carrying a side of beef. The landing had been rough. Her stomach still ached from where it had impacted on Nyx's shoulder but she had to admit it was definitely better than being frozen into an elven icicle or otherwise made very, very dead. It also had the benefit of her not having to stand in the sewer.

"King's advisor," Assallya's muffled voice replied to Flint's question from behind Nyx's back, "Called himself Crim or something. I don't know if that's with a 'K' or a 'C'."

Luckily, from the sounds of it, it would be a short run and then back out of the sewers to some sort of carriage? What did Nyx mean by "chariot"?

Marcos had ignored Flint's question and his cheesy rhyme, and chased after him. "I think he was a madman."

"They're both right" Says Nyx. "His name is Crim. And he is pretty crazy." They reach the end of the tunnel and Nyx pushes up the hatch at the end and climbs out to set down the slender elf on his shoulder. He pushes open the door at the end of the corridor they came out in to reveal the large courtyard filled with all sorts of rebels fighting off guards to liberate their brothers and sisters from the prison. "Time to leave. They are getting ready to fall back." He lets out a high pitched whistle to let his allies know that the last prisoners had made at out and several magicians summon a thick cloud of fog for everyone to escape through. "follow me close. dont get lost!" He shouts, making a break for the gates.

Marcos runs, eager to make his natural form in the fog, just for a moment, but argues against it as he decides it would slow him down.

At the name Crim Flint froze, his face showing nothing but fear, however as the group exited he shook his head and resumed running. He struggled not to loose them in the fog, mind swarming with old memories.

The fog suddenly clears when they reach the gate and a metal claw grasps Nyx's ankle. He manages to let out a "For fucks sake" before being dragged backwards up one of the walls and is dangled by his ankle. The prison warden, a great big man who is half giant. He holds a massive sword and shield. "Where do you think you are going, little puppies?" Nyx unleashes several strings of curses at him. "Watch your language, fool" He shouts at Nyx and looks at the rest of his party. "You will be returning to your cell immediately."

"Jaren? Is that you?" one of the prison guardsmen asked.

Jaren, the poor sap Assallya had ensorceled into aiding her thrust his blade deep into his fellow guardsman's gut, leaving him to writhe bleeding on the stone slabs that were the tiles of this courtyard. He showed no remorse. Guards at a prison were normally indifferent to the suffering of others. In this land, ruled by a tyrant they often relished in that suffering. This Jaren was one such, reveling in the death of what was probably one of his friends.

"Easy now M'lady," the man said as he helped Assallya step over the writhing, soon to be corpse.

It sounded almost like the man was escorting her on a summer outing, helping her cross a shallow brook but that couldn't be further from the truth. It was chaos. The blonde elf pulled her hair back over one slender shoulder while gazing upon the blood filled courtyard strewn with bodies. The rebels had the advantage of surprise but that element had passed. They'd fared well initially but makeshift weapons, knives attached to broom handles for spears and long knives, weren't sufficient to the task of going up against chained mail and swords. They had begun losing and losing badly. About the only thing they had going for them was the chaos kept the overhead archers on the walls from launching volleys upon those within. They were forced to carefully aim their shots to avoid hitting their fellows.

Assallya's toes were carefully manicured, done in matte black but dusted in silver and gold like they were stars reflected on her nails. A sheaf arrow hit the stone, taking a chunk out of it just in front of them, scaring her near out of her wits. She screamed at the top of her lungs, shrilly. It was dangerous out here. It was only a matter of time before some random arrow took her. That didn't make her happy.

Jaren and she had been following Nyx towards the "escape chariot" when he was snared by the fiend overhead, pulled across the courtyard, head bouncing along the stone and then up into the air, his back striking the wall. Assallya took one look at the behemoth at the top of the wall and realized one simple fact. She was a coward. She didn't want any part of that half giant, especially not when their escape was so near.

"Sorry Nyx," Assallya said to herself, "It was really nice knowing you. Thanks for getting me out."

Then she ran for the gate, her new found protector serving as vanguard.

OOC: Assallya is quite the coward. She was okay inside where she had people to hide behind but this fracas is too much for her.

Marcos was going down with a fight. That much was settled. He wasn't escaping with the rest of his group still alive. At first, he considered forming a distraction, but went against it when seeing the lack of sorrow and pain. A distraction would have him dead, standing still would have him dead, and running would have him dead. Either way, Marcos considered, dead was better than feeling dead and helpless. "What a coward," he muttered, as Assallya left, before thinking about how he could do this.

Nyx breaks the chain with a weaker version of what he used to collapse the hallway earlier and he falls into a heap on the ground with a loud groan. 'That was further than I thought' He thinks as he sits up against the wall to collect himself.

Marcos dashed over as Nyx falls, "Are you alright?" he said, helping his follow rebel up, "What just happened? What if we miss the chariot? We have to leave!" he said frantically.

Assallya was almost to the gate only to discover that the largest assemblage of guardsman was, of course, at the gate and trying to keep the rebels inside. The former slave girl was running, Jaren, her new plaything lagging a little behind after fighting off some other guards.

The elven courtesan took one quick look at the guards lined up in a wall before her and turned back towards Jaren.

"I surrender," she wailed suddenly, effecting a panicked shriek, "Don't kill me! I'm not a rebel!"

Going to her knees before Jaren she raised up her tiny hands over her head in a gesture of supplication and very quietly said, "Play along," as he approached with his bloodied sword.

Jaren wasn't particularly bright, boggled for a moment and then quickly realized what she was doing. With a dangerous smirk that, for a moment, made Assallya think he had broken free of her enchantment, he grabbed one of her wrists.

"Come here you miserable wench," he called out, pulling the courtesan up, lifting her completely off her feet so that her toes dangled off the stone cobbl before setting her down and twisting her arm behind her back, "You are going to pay for making me run slut. You try anything I'll gut you like I did your friends."

The guard chuckled mirthfully and groped at Assallya's bosom, fingers sliding up under her leather bustier to fondle her flesh. An act that made the other guards chuckle.

Her mind working, Assallya considered her options. She considered spells, considered fighting her way through, considered expanding upon the ruse she had concocted to put the guards at ease. No matter what, she had to get through that gate and to whatever "chariot" poor, probably dead Nyx was talking about.

An arrow pierced through Marcos' arm as he tried to explain to Nyx that if they didn't leave now, they'd leave never.

"I'm up. You're right. We need to go." He says pushing himself up off the ground and stumbling towards the gate with his sword dragging behind him. "Did Assallya make it out?" He says just before seeing the scene at the gate. "Well... I guess not." He shouts as loud as he can towards the gate. "Hey, bastards. I think you ought to leave her alone. after all, I am one of the rebels you are after."

Marcos pulled the arrow out of his arm, "I'll fix it later," he murmured, letting his arm fall limo beside her. "As am I," he announced, ready to use the arrow as a small knife as blood tripped down his arm and the arrowhead. Defenceless but determined, Marcos is slightly behind Nyx.

Vela was so confused. How did this all happen so fast. She was following silently behind Ash and Flint as they fled through the tunnels. She'd been disgruntled and gotten turned around in the fog. She began to panic grasping and clawing at the thick gray abyss that began to ring the throes of violent death and torture. She restrained the urge to call out for an ally for she knew she'd risk being caught by the enemy.
Soon the fog began to clear and she panicked even more to have her cover vanish, but then she spotted Marcos bleeding yet calm behind someone she thought she recognized from the cell before. He seemed important. Marcos was beseeching him for something.
Vela made a dash for them. There was safety in numbers.

Having made it alive to Marcos and his companion, Vela feels safer already. "Marcos, what is happening now? Who is our target? I can assist you if I know your aim." She then caught sight of the girl being held against her will by the gate. "I can mentally disarm him for a moment only, if you so desire..."

OOC: Vela is very logically driven. She suffered great emotional trauma as a child, so now relies only on fact and so on. She is like a female Spock... but way cuter...

"This is Nyx. I don't know why we feel safe around you, Nyx, but we do. So, how are you," he said casually. "Nyx and Flint broke us out. I think we are assisting her, over there," he pointed at Assallya, "Though Nyx is trying to work out how without getting us killed." He stepped backwards as an arrow threw itself at where he once stood. He knew moving every now and then was a good idea after getting hurt. "I think we should take out the archers. Though we'd need bows and arrows, and a good eye..." He smiled at Vela, "You stick with us. Can't get all of us lost. I think some have escaped. But I can't bear to leave no one behind."
