Falkare's head rose when the guard's voice rang out over all others to make the announcement. The man's friendliness only continued to set him on edge, and he scowled when the bright light forced him to squint or otherwise be blinded. He steeled his expression as the magic began to wrap around him and with a throaty growl, its soothing effects were forced aside momentarily. He would not let this magic beguile his mind, but even with such resolve Falkare's eyelids began to droop. As his vision began to fade and consciousness slipped away, the grip around his weapon only tightened.

He woke before the others and had spared them only a glance before he turned his attention to the surroundings. How long had it been since he had seen a lush, if unusual, forest like this? Falkare wasn't certain nor did he choose to dwell on it for too long. He scowled as he stood, feeling his feet sink into the soft clay under his weight, and quickly moved to leave the pit. A small pile of animal droppings caught his eyes, but he ignored them for a moment as he walked over towards the sand and used it to dry out and rub off most of the clay that clung to his clothes. He also chose to put a handful or so into one of the deep pockets the pants came with; it might come in handy later on.

With that taken care of he finally approached the small pile of droppings to examine them. They seemed rather fresh and after a moment he also managed to discern that tracks led to the north, towards the river. Extremely small though, so probably worthless as prey, but knowledge of what lived in this environment would be useful itself. He spared another glance at the others before he lead the clay pit and headed north towards the river to follow the tracks.

He stopped only to pocket a few small stones and palm and fist-sized rock, guessing the projectiles might come in handy if he did find something to hunt. The heavy club rested on his shoulder as he eyed the running water before he crossed it at a shallow point where he could see the bottom. When he finally made it to the opposite bank, he knelt down again to try and find the tracks again. He thought he managed, but with how small they were it was hard to be certain. He had a vague direction that led into the underbrush though and Falkare scanned the woods for a moment before he decided to pursue this further.[/fieldbox]

Making the rope was about as repetitious as one could get, yet at the same time—perhaps because it was so monotonous—it was oddly meditative. Gideon was focused on his twisting and splicing as he combined some of the lengths together to create longer strands for whatever it could be used for. It sounded as if they were talking about building a campsite, so he could use the cordage to help tie the wood together to keep it sturdy. Or he could help with the fire pit. He wasn't picky. Sitting off on his own when a few of the others were introducing themselves (it sounded like another had joined the conversation) probably made him look a bit rude and aloof, but he needed time to gather his thoughts. Gideon frowned as he found his mind wandering again, and he laid the cord in his lap, taking a deep breath. It wasn't like he had much cause to trust people. His family made sure of that, and the reception he got afterward by people who recognized him just proved his point. Fear made people do stupid things . . . .

So wrapped up in unwanted reminders, the mage hadn't even heard the young woman approach him until she was right beside him. He jerked slightly in surprise, almost wincing when she tapped his shoulder as if he half expected it to be an act of aggression.

"I believe you weren't with the group before?" she said.

Gideon's mouth ran before he could stop it. "It was a move made with a reason you didn't seem to get."

Almost immediately after he spoke he felt bad about it. Old habits were hard to break, and relearning how to communicate with people might be harder than he thought. Who knew socializing was going to be one of his biggest hurdles on the island? Besides, she kind of reminded him of his youngest sister, Ophelia. Refined and proud, but gifted, with a quiet strength that was hard to see under the surface, and capable of great kindness when the need arose. Well . . . that was his sister. He didn't know this woman well enough to judge her on any level but a superficial one, which he preferred not to do.

" . . . Forgive me," he said, letting out a breath. "It's . . . been a while since I last discussed anything with a degree of civility. No, I wasn't with the group earlier. I've been listening to the conversation and trying to feel my way around, you understand? Get a sense of where everyone's head is at. What they're like."

Speaking of . . . wasn't someone missing? Maybe he had come to before everyone and went off on his own already. Admirable, but dangerous. And maybe even a tad daft. There was no way of knowing what was out there waiting for them. He picked up bits of Stelva reporting what her scout had seen. Something about a pit and a flower field that was poisonous. Those both sounded like wonderfully cruel areas to hide something of import. Like an artifact. He turned his attention back to the woman.

"Delvenia, was it? I'm Serick. I'd say nice to meet you, but after my careless introduction you probably want to be as far away as possible." The man smirked, which was about the closest he could get to a smile lately, and then began working on his cordage again. He was still listening however, should she choose to speak. If she merely walked away, he wouldn't blame her.

Luther's first goal for asking for the names of his companions was to learn more about his these people. After all, he was must always be polite. It would do him no good to treat the others poorly, as if they were to believe in him, everything would go much more smoothly. He noticed his lady Delvenia had awoken, and was introducing herself to the others. As for the others, Arn seemed to be uncomfortable with others, though he was working hard, taking the lead in building. The girl in glasses, Katsuko, seemed to be unfamiliar with anything. Though just by watching the young one, she managed to replicate his results nearly exactly. Jay as his name turned out to be, was simply a man of small character. A thief, or a common pickpocket. He must be watched carefully. Stelva was a fine young women. Somewhat blunt, but no matter. Then there was the dangerous man. Delvenia was speaking to him. What was intriguing was how he was only willing to introduce himself when pressed. "Serick" he said... Another whom Luther would have to pay close attention to.

"Well, seeing as how we all have described what we are capable of, I suppose it is my turn. I am skilled in elemental magic. Specifically fire. I am not at liberty to say where I acquired these skills, though I assure you I have been well trained. I am a heavy melee fighter, standing tall before enemies ten times my size. I will never quit the fight, due to the inability to continue. So long as I am alive, I am capable of fighting."

...seven... eight... nine... And himself made ten. It seemed one of their companions was missing. He turned to Stelva, who was describing the surrounding.

"Undoubtedly your skill set will be invaluable. Considering your ability to scout out the area without having to move from your current location, I suggest we set up camp. But first, how about we find our missing companion?"

Arn Woodson
Arn looked over towards Luther as he heard his statement: we were missing a companion? Arn looked over towards Jay, expecting him to take up the finish bracers for him, and looked right on over towards Luther. He had seen someone run off into the thick parts of this place- in the direction where there were supposedly some form of animal-tracks were. Arn wasn't really sure what to do at this point: none had so far come up to agree with aiding him when it came to building a shelter- and he had so far only made basic bracers- no, he wanted to construct something big- a project, he'd say. But he began thinking back on what it was that she- the girl with the fancy scout- had stated earlier. A hole to the south- where the plant life was withering? That could very well be an artifact! Arn shot up with the idea that he might've just discovered the first out of eight artifacts that was needed- so much so that he suddenly stood up from his crouched down position, and looked over towards Luther and the gal who had brought him the Reeds. He decided it was for the best not to bring up the fact an artifact could very well be as close as just a few kilometers south- it was a hole with withering plants inside: it spelled a whole lot of problems, who knows what could be inside there. Of course... he could ask her to go and check on what was underneath.

He was beginning to work on the reeds themselves, starting to smooch them up together: crushing the more resistful parts- whilst softening up the resistless parts of the reeds. As he does this, he looked over towards Stelva, eyeing her up and down- before speaking out: as he believed that he needed to be heard out- "Hey, Stelva.About that hole from earlier- you think you could scout that hole out soon? I was thinking if it could have the artifact inside- but uh... You know, if it does: don't get everyone excited. It might, you know- bite us in the ass later if we just jump right on into it. Plus, we'll have to get that reed all fixed up." He extended his right hand outwards, taking ahold of a few of the reeds (if he's allowed to, that is) and said once more. "Alright, reed won't necessarily be the best material for rope making, but it can do the job as well." He reached over towards his hammer, and began to crush them up slightly- forcing the reeds to seperate into pieces kept along the fiber inside of them. He then took ahold of the single-filed reed pieces, and began to wire them around one another in a tight and rough manner- yet not hard enough to actually break off a few pieces of it. After twisting them around each other for a while, he looked at the final result: roughly five centimeters thick was this rolled up reed-esq fibers, and he started working on doing the same thing to another- doing essentially the same process until he had another rope-looking line. He began to twist the two lines amongst themselves, tying both ends up using the ends of the reeds to ensure it wouldn't unroll, and viola- he looked at the final result that would be short-rope. "Lets hope this turns out good." However- upon closer inspection, Arn gave off a loud sigh- shook his head and laid the rope aside. God damn it.

@All but Falkare
A little time passes as you all work hard on improving the camp. With no disagreements yet, and a round of fairly smooth introductions, you can already feel a little sense of camaraderie begin to develop. Those who watched previous shows would know that most other groups had... well... a bumpy start, to say the least. Though in some cases, it was due to them being thrown straight into a challenge.

Thankfully, a sense of peace seems to loom upon you all as you all begin working. Little high-pitched whispers of spirits combine with the strange songs of unknown birds. Though this place is strange and new, it's oddly beautiful to listen to the wind delicately weave around the bizarrely shaped leaves... don't you think?

The strange flickers of light - presumably the spirits - seem to be somewhat interested in you all. Though whenever somebody stops to look at one, it darts away. Almost as if they're shy, or scared of the group.

Those with 5 or higher knowledge...
[spoili]Would be able to summarise that the flickers of light are mostly harmless - as they don't seem to possess any level of power at all.[/spoili]

Nothing seems to attack you, and nothing out of the ordinary happens as you all work. It seems peaceful, aside from the heat. The shade of the trees does little to stop it... though it would be something you'd likely get used to over time.

The one thing that's somewhat strange however, is that three people have yet to wake up from their lay in the spot of clay. Talking to them or physically touching them doesn't seem to do much to wake them up... but they're still alive. Previous groups have had members with this happen... 'late wakers', as they're referred to. It's unknown why it happens - most people think it's some sort of weird 'allergic reaction' to the teleportation spell. Though those are just rumours. All 'late wakers' have been known to wake up eventually.

Those with 4 or higher accuracy...
[spoili]Would notice that the two females and the one male are sinking a little - albeit very slowly - in the clay.[/spoili]

Northward Hunt
@Falkare
You head Northward, hoping to find the owner of the tracks. Your low Knowledge doesn't give you any idea of the kind of animal it could possibly belong to... all you can conclude is that it's a small thing. Agile and able, you're able to traverse through the rough terrain with barely any problems, apart from a layer of sweat from the hot sun above.

After a while of following the tracks - you notice something strange. ...A stain of blood. No - a trail of blood. Blood that's fresh, with a strange blue-purple colour to it. It flows alongside the tracks. The animal clearly got injured on the trail, though you can't figure out where. There's no indications - no other tracks - nothing.

Eventually, following the blood stains and tracks brings you to a new area. It's mostly the same as the starting area... the same oddly shaped/elevated trees (although the trees are a bit more dense here), the same grass, and the same uneven terrain. There's another two of those strange, large-red flowers here, alongside some new flora.

The most interesting thing though hangs from one of the smaller trees. It's shaped like a bee hive, though it's made from twigs and delicately weaved sticks of mahogany-brown. A faint, blue light seems to emit from within it, though you can't hear anything inside it. You have no idea what it could be. Strange.

Regardless, you manage to find the owner of the blood trail. A small animal - the closest thing you can relate it to is a wild pig - due to its snout and pig-shaped body. It has strange, deep blue skin, with rugged navy fur sprouting from its back in a short, bushy tail. The animal's eyes are a sky-blue, and it has tiny little purple-black tusks coming from each side of it. It's truly a bizarre creature - especially the colour.

A large tear in its flesh oozes purple-blue blood on the right side of its body. It lies dying slowly, seemingly without any strength to keep running.

There are no indications of anything other than this strange piglike creature in the area. It can't run from you if you try to slaughter it.

A brunette girl stood out among the group surrounded by soldiers. Not because she was striking a pose or anything, but because of her steely red gaze. Her expression was blank and pretty much impossible to read. Not to mention the fact that she walked with grace and dignity. A strange sight for someone walking into the hell of Shi No Gemu. All around her were shouts of the people in the crowds, yet somehow she heard two voices in particular. From among the crowd stood her best friend with her younger siblings. Her attention was immediately snatched from what was ahead, and she stopped walking. She offered a small smile to her family, and they gave her encouraging words in return. Before she was able to make another gesture, she was nudged by one of the soldiers who told her to keep moving. She glared at him, but didn't argue and kept walking. Almost immediately, her expression and eyes went back to the way they had been before. Lilith, along with the others, walked into a building and filled out the form. But she wasn't completely truthful. Next they were all herded like sheep into another building where they had to change into the boring white clothes with the number on the back. Finally, they were allowed to choose their weapons. Lilith thought on it for a short while, before choosing the long sword. Afterwards, they were fed aplenty as if to distract them from their fates in Shi No Gemu.

Lilith walked into the tall building, followed by the rest of group 8. The room was spacious and the aura of it was rather calming. But it was merely the calm before the storm. The books and the smell reminded Lilith of a Library, which made her feel a little at ease. She enjoyed Libraries, especially the smell of them. Her attention was snagged when she saw a man in the middle of the room, standing above a chalk circle with mysterious markings inside it. Looking up from the circle to the man, Lilith examined his appearance. There was no doubt that he was to be the one who was going to teleport them onto the island. A Mage, if you would. His soft voice rings throughout the now quiet room, making it easier to hear him clearly. She listens to what he says, but is seemingly unamused. Especially when he forces a strange laugh, which makes her tense a little. As he continued, Lilith sighed softly to herself and crossed her arms over her chest, waiting for him to start taking things serious. Thankfully, he did. Noticing his gesture, Lilith takes a few steps forward along with the others, and listens to him speaking. Suddenly, his hair was covering his eyes, and Lilith could hear what he had murmured. Finding it rather amusing, she chuckled to herself. Although she'd much rather get on with the destiny that awaits them, Lilith stands and listens as the others ask their rather unneeded questions, which irritated her. Within ten minutes, all questions had been asked and Conner was now answering them. First one, then two, then three, and finally the fourth. Just after he had finished, one of the guards stepped forward and informed him that it was time. Excitement welled in Lilith chest and she allowed her hands to fall at her sides. Suddenly, Conner starts the magic and Lilith soon found herself wrapped in a purple light that seemed to move like the northern lights. She felt herself become sleepy, but stayed awake long enough to watch as Conner collapsed onto the floor. Then everything went black and Lilith had a strange slipping feeling.

---------------------

It seemed like it had been a dream, but alas, it was not. Lilith was awoken by the voices around her and the cold that had seeped past her clothes to her bones. And yet, the top of her body felt very warm. Opening her arms, Lilith was blinded by the light. She allowed her eyes to adjust before she sat up. Looking around, Lilith took in the scenery. It was truly beautiful and seemed magical. That's when she saw lights dancing around them from a few feet away. Glancing at them, she would watch as one darted away, leaving behind a trail of light. She then felt her leg lower and looked over to see she was sinking in the clay substance. Along with the other two who were still asleep. Standing up, Lilith wiped the little bit of mud off, then walked over to the closest one. A girl. Grabbing her by the arms, Lilith dragged the girl out of the clay and onto the firmer ground. Next, was the man. She eyed him, trying to figure out the best way to fish a guy, who was probably heavy, out of the clay. After coming to a conclusion, Lilith walked over and entered the clay. She bent down, and wrapped her arms around his shoulders. Then, she began to pull. She did it step by step, but she made it onto the firm land and laid him down beside the girl. Looking down at them, Lilith wondered when they would awake. However, that was pushed to the back of her mind when she felt eyes on her. Most likely the others watching her as she suddenly woke up and helped two people without even a word otherwise. Turning to the group, she examined everyone with her usual steely gaze and blank expression.[/fieldbox]

[fieldbox="DELVENIA ESME, darkseagreen, dashed, 10, Georgia"]The green-haired lady gasped hearing the answer. No one had talked to her like that before, no one had the courage to do that. She wasn't that strong or intimidating, it was more like... bewitching, she could proudly said. Before she could open her mouth to answer him, words of apology came out from the man, followed with introduction after that.

Delvenia smiled at the man. She loved challenges, so when he said that she better stayed away from him, it made her wanted to stay as long as she could, "Why would I? I see you have potential and knowing more about my teammates is a pleasant opportunity for me, Serick." Still with mushrooms in her left arms while umbrella in her right, Delvenia made a bow to excuse herself back to the group, "No matter how much I wanna stay here, I must sadly bring myself back to the group and see what my lovely hands can do to help them. I'll see you again."

Delvenia walked back slowly while observing her surrounding. She found something that poked her interest, flickers of light that kept on watching her... not just her, but the whole group. The edge of her eyes could catch their movement, but whenever she tried to focus on them, they ran away. It made her interest grew bigger and bigger. She also noticed the other members that laying on the clay, not awake like the rest of them. One of them finally awake and seemed to help the other that waked later just like her. Delvenia wanted to help them, but her interest laid more on the lights. She wondered what were they, were they spirits? Would they helped them? Maybe they held the secret for the first artifact?

Delvenia didn't want to let her questions stayed as questions. She shouted to her fellow teammates to make sure they knew what she wanted to do, "I wanna go check on something, I will be back later. Also, I find these mushrooms not far from here. I can assure you that it's edible, we just need to cook it, make it a little bit tasty. I assume you don't want to make your precious stomach empty the whole day, right?" Delvenia laid the mushrooms not far from the group before she headed to the 'spirits'. They seemed harmless, so trying to approach them maybe wouldn't lead to any problem, though Delvenia needed to find a way to make them stopped darting away. After walking several steps closer to the 'spirits', Delvenia found nothing around her, but she believed they were somewhere hiding, "Hello?" A musical voice came out from her mouth as she tried to show them that she was harmless.

As he waited for Delvenia to speak, he wondered if he shouldn't mention the missing contestant to the small group that had formed. Stelva's scouting magic could come in handy for that, but if not, locating the man's tracks shouldn't be too difficult. It would cut into the build time for the campsite. Splitting up into teams sounded like a viable solution provided something crazy wasn't out in the woods already. He glanced at the sky. The sun wasn't quite directly overhead, but it was closer to that position than it had been when he first woke up, which led him to believe it had been roughly an hour. Maybe he should mention his thoughts on that pit and a possible artifact hiding there too . . . .

Gideon raised an eyebrow as bits of the conversation from the group caught his ear. It seemed as if Luther and Arn had both beaten him to it. What was that old saying again?

Great minds think alike, he thought with a quiet chuckle. They both suggested the same ideas in much the same manner that Gideon himself would have posed them. This both intrigued him and aroused some suspicion. He wasn't entirely sure why the latter emotion crept in, but it did all the same. Look at me, he thought. Acting as if they're mind readers. He smirked, glancing past the group out toward the vast area of clay again. I wonder when they're going to wake up? The mage frowned momentarily. Something was bothering him about the three in the clay. What was it? He knew they weren't dead. He could see the shallow rise and fall of their chests as they breathed. Something was definitely off though.

Wait a minute . . . wasn't she . . . higher up before?

His eyes flickered to one of the women's faces, her length of long, brown hair stretched out around her. The clay was starting to indent around her . . . . They were sinking.

Damnit! Luckily the process hadn't gone too far, but who knew when that might change, and maybe leaving the three lying in the tacky substance wasn't such a great idea anyways. He started to stand up and excuse himself when the woman he'd been watching suddenly awoke, and then single-handedly dragged both of the sleeping members to safety. The mage blinked, then smirked again, mildly impressed. On second thought, it seems number eleven is more than capable of handling it. Gideon watched her for a moment more, noticing the red glint in her eye and stoic gaze. There was something strangely familiar about her. A dark magic that he could relate to. Her behavior seemed to indicate an intense distrust and wariness that would make communicating with her a challenge. A challenge for another day, perhaps. The mage turned his attention back to Delvenia, finding her words rather surprising. Potential?

"No matter how much I wanna stay here, I must sadly bring myself back to the group and see what my lovely hands can do to help them. I'll see you again."

"I'm sure you will," he said, bowing his head slightly as she left. That was something he hadn't done in a while. It was . . . almost formal. Strange that the thought almost horrified him. The last time he had cause to be formal was when he was still living at the LaVail Manor, attending one form of party or meeting or another. Still, it was . . . nice, in a bizarre way. Reminded him of simpler, happier times. He wrapped his cordage into a circular bundle and put it in one of the deep pockets of his pants before getting to his feet and stretching. That sun was a tad oppressive, but nothing he hadn't felt surrounded by flame magic before. Gideon heard Delvenia excuse herself and glanced up, noticing that she was going off on her own a short distance away, watching the odd, glowing orbs of spirit energy that had been observing them all day. Almost immediately he drew up paranoid conclusions from it. Maybe they were observing the group for someone. Like the crowds that watched Shi No Gemu. He couldn't really detect any power coming from them, so watching seemed about all they could do. Or maybe they were spying on them for something. Something bigger and more powerful than them.

Christ, Gideon, can't something ever just be what it appears? Maybe they were harmless. The mage considered this for a moment, and then shook his head. This is Shi No Gemu. Nothing's harmless.

Since Delvenia was still within eye-shot of the others, he thought she would be okay for now without help, and decided it might be a good time to finally meet the others before he started being labeled a brooding sociopath. He shifted the bow and quiver strapped across his back to a more comfortable position and started toward the others. If the dark-haired woman who had woken up earlier wanted to speak, she'd approach. If she didn't, that was her business. Gideon hadn't exactly chatted everyone's ear off when he'd awoken.

The mage waited for a lull in the conversation before speaking up.

"Luther, Arn, Stelva . . . Katsuko, wasn't it?" he said, nodding to the small cluster of people before him. "I'm Serick. I thought I heard something about building a campsite and sending out a search party for number . . . ten, if I recall correctly. If Stelva is unable to find him with her scout, maybe splitting up into teams would be most effective. A search party, and a building party?"

He wondered if they'd ask him what he could do, or find it rude that he didn't offer the information himself. Truthfully? Gideon was nervous. And he hated that. The man himself had no idea how to describe his own magic, other than the old and somewhat maligned term "black magic," as opposed to white magic which was associated with good. He had no idea how he'd come to possess it, or why, or why the timing had correlated so closely with his older brother's death. No clue where the power for the magic came from, because sometimes it didn't feel like it was from him as much as it was coming through him from somewhere else. He'd been a mage nearly all his life, but never felt anything like this before. It was terrifying.

. . . And just how the hell do you explain that to people without looking crazy or dangerous? Or both?

Jay quickly spotted that Arn was finished with his bracers, "Ah thank you Arn," he said picking up them, he put them on and they didn't seem to slow down his movements. As he began to look around he spotted one of the three that hadn't woken up yet so he decided to talk with her as it seemed that most people are busy with something or other. Jay walked over to the newly woken, "Hello," he said, "So you haven't missed muc we've just been discussing our talents. I myself am quite good at fighting and dodging also thank you for helping those two, I would have done it myself but you beat me to it." He put his hand out for her to shake it, anyway he might as well have one person who may trust him.

Lilith had been thinking about things such as where the Artifacts would be, the types of monsters they'd face, and the such. However, her thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a man's voice. Raising her eyes from the ground, Lilith first saw the man's icy blue eyes. She then examined him, from his matching blue hair, to his long arms, and all the way down to his legs. Before her stood a pale man with blue eyes and hair that matched. Interesting. She listened as he introduced himself then bragged about what he could do, all while Lilith stared with her steely gaze and a quirked brow. In her head, she couldn't help but say bad things, such as Wow, cocky much? or Do you really think I give a shit? However, she didn't say these things aloud. Once he finished speaking about himself, the man named Jay then thanked her for helping the two contestants out of the clay. Would you really have helped them? She thought to herself, though made it so he was unable to figure it out. Lilith was known for putting up a strong front, so people were never able to figure out what she was feeling or even thinking based on her actions and appearance. You'd only be able to if she wanted you to or told you. Glancing down at his extended arm, Lilith noticed he was asking for a handshake. Reaching her hand out, Lilith gripped his hand firmly and shook it twice before releasing and pulling away. I need to at least give these people a chance before deciding who I can and can't trust. She reminded herself. Meeting his gaze again, Lilith spoke. "It's nice to meet you. I'm Lilith." She introduced herself properly, making sure not to give off the wrong aura. "It seems that a few others aren't here. I saw a girl walk off, following one of the spirits, but as I've just recently awoken, I don't know where the others are. Do you happen to know?" She asked. Lilith knew that it was always a good idea to keep track of those around her, just in case. Whether to harm them, save them, or just to make sure all's well. Either way it didn't matter, so long as she knew.

Both Luther and the newcomer, Serick, suggested for Stelva to use her watcher spirit to look for the missing number ten. Unfortunately, the small spirit was already on its way to the second clay patch, and would likely take some time to return. Stelva shook her head.

"We're not children. If number ten is missing, it's because he wanted to be left alone. Whatever reason that is, I don't think we need to search for him right now. We don't even know if this place is safe. Securing the perimeter is more important," she replied. To Arn, Stelva added with a nod, "I will scout out the crater later. It's the most suspicious out of the areas I can see, and I don't want to set off anything accidentally. As we speak, I am investigating the clay patch. It should arrive any moment now."

"Serick, huh?" Stelva repeated after the man introduced himself. He was a tall and rugged man who looked like he would be handy in a scuffle. Stelva felt a certain distrust in the way Serick carried himself, as if they were all enemies to him until proven otherwise. She could hardly blame the man, given the history of this game. With her eyes scanning the forest for anything useful, Stelva casually flung him a question.

"You a soldier or something?" She took a wild stab.

Slowly, soft blue-violet eyes blinked open, greeted by blazing sunlight. One by one, Hei's senses came back to him- the metallic scent of wet earth, combined with the crisp smell of running water; voices, both near and distant, mingling with a slight breeze through leaves and birdsong; the feel of sun-warmed, sticky mud clinging to his body. Eyes closing again, he furrowed his brows. A sensation of spinning, combined with a throb in his temples jarred his mind. The purple light, such powerful magic... He never did deal well with magic. However, it clearly worked- Shi no Gemu had begun.

Letting out a light groan, he attempted to sit up, but ended up resorting to simply turning and propping himself up on one arm. Blinking the spots from the sun from his eyes, he looked up at the two standing near him. A young man, whose name he did not hear, was speaking to a young woman, Lilith. It seemed Lilith, had just woken as well, though the man appeared to be less disoriented. Perhaps he woke first? Shifting his gaze, Hei then scanned the area. A little distance from the mud flat, others were already hard at work, gathering supplies and outfitting themselves with bark armour. How long had he been out?

With a strong push from heavy limbs, Hei sat up. Immediately his hand fell to his waist, where his kusarigama should be wound. A tension released when he found it there, still secure, albeit covered in half-dried mud. He would have to clean it, but first he needed to stand. Though it took a bit more effort than normal, he rose to his feet with only a slight stumble, hardly noticeable to those who were not watching.

Righting his shoulders, he turned to the Lilith and the young man, waiting for a polite moment to speak.

Arn Woodson
Arn passed over the poorly done reed-rope towards Stelva, whilst saying "Well, don't do exactly as I did. Be a lot more gentler with it than I was, but remember to tie the end of the cordage like I did, and you should be good. Two of those cordages, then you wire them all together. Makes it thick, better gripping and- just a lot more forgiveful for the hands." Arn was however distracted with the sudden movement from the clay-'dump' as he would call it, the place that he woke up on. There were still three figures stuck in it, but one of them were movin', no doubt about that. Arn kept on staring as the figure came to, fully conciouss and awake. She started- without hesitation as far as Arn could tell, to move the bodies of the two other late-wakers, until they were both out. She of course began shooting glances towards those in the group who were staring at her, Arn included. Whilst Arn was going to give her the usual 'hello, my name is' treatment: he just felt a lot more solid now- knowing that he was generally considered useful to the group, and for some reason began to revert back to his old ways. He gave her a nod, and just as he was about to open his mouth and speak- he suddenly felt himself interrupted by the Jay figure. He gave off a sigh instead, shook his head left and right and turned back over to his work. Whilst he was planning on continuing up the reed works, he also began thinking about other things. When would his team be ready to move out- to take ahold of treasures, artifacts and metals- or would they ever truely be ready? He had heard of how people had died during this- wether they were keeping to the team or not, they died off one by the other- either by mistakes, miscalculations, to poisoned food and backstabbing.

Arn most certainly didn't want to share the same fate as those unfortunate folks did, and began to think back... What was the mistakes they did exactly, again? It was a hard one to figure out, and his mind went over a lot of options that could've caused the first few members of the group to die. It was most likely the fact they didn't really carry too well maintained gear- but before the group six incident... anyone could bring anything. Then again, this place seemed a lot more cherishful than the other Shi no Gemu's that Arn had gotten the time to watch- and now, he was apart of the whole damn thing.

After being lost in his thoughts for an unknown amount of time, Arn shook off this sudden loss of words and sense of reality, and realised that he had to keep his brain active somehow. Work, was what he was thinking off- and decided: what the hell. He walked northwards- although not far enough to actually get within the range of Falkare, and began to pick grass left and right: he might look like an idiot to a lot of people right now- but the guy said it himself: be yourself. And who knows, maybe Arn just enjoyed picking grass for no particular reason other than it looked quite green. Of course, that wasn't the only reason Arn did pick at the grass, and after picking for a while, he acquired a pile of grass that he was quick to walk back to the starting area, and drop down infront of the clay patch. Wasn't much of course from him- not at this hour, but he could use some easy work.

#3: Gideon LaVail
@ Everyone, @Valeric

Gideon had to all but bite his tongue off to keep from making some sort of sarcastic remark in response to Stelva's question about him being a soldier. He had winced because of this, but it was hardly noticeable, and he remained silent. When he spoke, it was not in answer, which may have made it seem like he was dodging her query.

"A fair enough assessment," Gideon said after hearing what the young woman had to say. She was a natural leader, seemed strong, and had an easy time telling everyone exactly how she felt and what she thought. The mage was almost envious of the ease with which she carried herself. "I'd agree about the perimeter as well. Securing some sort of refuge before it got too late would be wise." He glanced around, noticing that Luther had already started acquiring a fair amount of wood.

"I don't think we'd need anything too fancy if we aren't going to be staying long. Perhaps we could construct a cone-like shelter with some tall lengths of wood. The circular base could be enough to accommodate everyone who wishes to sleep there, maybe minus one person to keep watch. And we could always layer it with leafy branches or brush on the off chance it should rain. It wouldn't be one-hundred percent leak proof, but enough to keep everyone relatively dry."

As he was talking, he'd been thinking about whether to answer Stelva's question, and a mild curiosity had gripped him concerning the clay patch. There must have been something interesting about that area if she felt the need to investigate it with her scout magic when they already had plenty of clay right here. He could easily go the disingenuous route. Tell her 'no' and have the conversation end there. Gideon had no idea if Stelva—or any of them for that matter—had ever heard of his family, but she might have. The LaVails had a long, colorful, mostly reputable line of warmages that graced the battlefields outside Yakazuma. His father was one, Andrew had been one, and Gideon himself had been training to follow in their footsteps. The young man smirked (once again a failed attempt at a friendly smile) and decided to tell the truth.

. . . Just omitting certain details.

" . . . I was for a short time," he said finally, looking at Stelva. "My family has a bit of a history with the military service, so I suppose my involvement was inevitable. My father in particular was a decorated Warmage. There was a certain . . . pressure . . . to tow the line and keep the family name above reproach."

Gideon stopped there, somewhat surprised he'd even said that much. People didn't want to hear his life story. And he certainly didn't want to tell it. He brushed his hair back and crossed his arms, almost automatically falling back into old habits.

"Yet here I am in Shi No Gemu, so obviously things didn't work out." It came out a bit more brusque than was necessary. He gritted his teeth and mentally slapped himself. Wonderful job, Gideon, he thought. You'll be the most popular guy around at this rate. Right next to Spade.

He glanced over at the young man in question, who was having a conversation with recently awoken number eleven. That was when he noticed that the last male was also awake now. Gideon was grateful for this, and glad to be able to change topics once again in case an inevitable awkward silence or arse-chewing came about.

"Two down, one to go," he said. "Better late than never."

[fieldbox="DELVENIA ESME, darkseagreen, dashed, 10, Georgia"]The spirits seemed to attracted by her voice, though they still hiding shyly and not approached her directly. Delvenia watched them for awhile, totally lost with beautiful light that flying around. If she observed it carefully... She could find a same pattern of their movements, they somehow heading to one direction in unison. Folding her arms, Delvenia started to make calculation using her own mind. Was it west? Nope, judging from the coordinate of the sun, they might be heading south. It was totally a bare assumption based only on her knowledge, maybe asking the girl named Stelva could help Delvenia solved the mystery by using her scout.

Finished with fulfilling her curiosity, Delvenia walked back to the group which had been discussing when she was gone. Since she wasn't there when they were talking, Delvenia knew nothing what Gideon told the group. If he managed to tell more about his story, maybe Delvenia would recognize that guy a little bit. His family name rang a bell in her memory. The green-haired lady noticed another man finally woke up, leaving one that still sleeping like a princess. Should she wake her up? She was still her teammates after all and losing one person at the beginning of the game was not a good sign. Delevina stopped in silence... Or... maybe they purposely picked 11 as number because they knew that one person would die right at the beginning? They knew one wouldn't be able to wake up? All of it was planned perfectly only to pour fear and doubt to the remaining contestants? Causing their mind to go insane because of it? Delvenia snorted, What a foxy snake...

Waiting until no one was speaking, Delvenia tapped on Stelva's shoulder, asking her directly about what she needed to know, "May I have the pleasure to know where this direction is heading? I think something hidden there that might be important for all of us. Random assumption, but I am confidence with my observation. Do you notice that flying light? All of them are heading to that direction, I assume it is south? Right? Something... something luring them there or maybe... just maybe, my fellow wise mates, they are trying to lead us there." A smile completed her words as Delvenia waited for her to response.

Falkare paused for a moment to glance in the direction he had come from, gauging the distance between him and the others. With a small frown, he looked at the trail he followed and resolved to return if it didn't bear any fruit within the next few minutes. Thankfully, it did just that as a faint bloodstain caught his attention shortly afterwards. Naturally his grip on his weapon tightens a bit as he scans his surroundings once again for any trace of danger. Unable to notice whatever had caused the injury to what he tracked, Falkare moved ahead again albeit slightly slower and more watchful.
He finally managed to find the creature a few moments later against a tree, drawing its final breaths.

Rather than approach immediately, he surveyed the surroundings and the odd situation. If such a wound had been accidental Falkare couldn't imagine the creature would have worsened its condition by moving about. The sensible scenario was that the beast had fled from something despite its condition. Yet, the creature was simply allowed to slowly expire by the tree by itself. "Hey!" He called out loudly, hoping to draw the attention of any creatures in the immediate surroundings to avoid an surprises. Beyond the wild pig's whine there was no other response, and he finally stood and approached the creature.

The strange structure that hung from a nearby tree didn't escape his notice, not that it tried to blend with the forest in the first place… Ultimately he left the unknown piece untouched since he had no idea what it could even remotely be. Perhaps one of the smarter members would have found it to be of interest, but Falkare focused his attention on the reason he had even come this far out in the first place. He stopped just a few feet away from the wild-pig-esque thing and took a deep breath before he raised the club and brought it swiftly down atop its skull; quick, painless, and out of its suffering.[/fieldbox]

Jay watched Lilith carefully he couldn't get any kind of read off of her, she seemed to have a blank face most of the time. He listened to her question and answered, "I'm not quite sure, I did hear them say something about someone missing, but I only know as much as you. Currently people are either gathering wood reeds or like Arn are making armour, basic wooden stuff though." Looking around he spotted the newly awoken man, Jay looked him up and he seemed to want to talk with the pair of them, "Oh hello there, welcome to the land of the damned," He said jokingly, "Of course I kidding we might have a slight chance of survival. So what do you have on your mind?"

Katsuko Akiyama

Well, she had messed that one up. Working on the bracers intently, she tilted her head down, both to focus on more careful crafting and to hide the red hot embarrassment that was rising up on her face. The rest of her teammates had introduced themselves just fine, made themselves sound very impressive. And she had, to put it bluntly, fucked it all up. She had made herself sound like a complete and utter fool, and now the others probably thought of her as a useless burden they were going to have to drag around the island. And she didn't want that. She hated the feeling of being absolutely useless; she wanted to be an asset, a helpful member of this "team". But there was no way to take back her fumbled introduction, she had to prove herself through her actions. So she quietly and intently set back to work on the bracers.

Once finished, Katsuko found that the bracers worked as well as they could for being made out of bark. That was a relief at least. She listened as Gideon, Arn, and Stelva talked, observing yet not speaking up. Soon after, out of the corner of her eye she saw two... no, not two, three- people still laying in the mud, slowing but surely sinking. Instinctively she began to hurry towards them, ready to drag them out herself if needed, when she saw that one of them had woken up and dragged the other two to safety. A sigh of relief escaped her as she made her way over.

As she got closer, she saw that she wasn't the only one who had noticed, as the blue-haired man from earlier was also there, talking with one of the three. He was the... "procurer of items", from what she remembered, and although she was suspicious of the way he had worded it, he did seem to at least care enough to check up on the others.

Looking at the ones that had almost sunk into the clay, they seemed to be alright. Covered in mud, yeah, but unhurt and alive, and that was the important part. Looking at the three of them, she knelt down near the girl who had yet to speak. "Hey, you alright?" She looked at the two others, the man and the other girl and gave a nod as a quick, unofficial greeting. "Are all of you alright? That was kinda close there."

Blue-purple blood oozes through the grass for a moment as the pig lies still, eyes with no life staring forward. You heard it whine as you approached, but it didn't even make a noise or show any signs of taking pain as you bought down the club. It had a quick, painless, death, and is no longer in pain. That makes it okay, right?

For some reason or another, you feel the slightest bit... stronger... after putting down the animal. One of the spirits dashes past its body, and without the whining and screaming of the pig present anymore, only the quiet and unknown songs of birds continue to flow around you.

You could easily carry the corpse if you'd like to take it somewhere. Judging by how easily its skull broke and its skin tore into a bloody, leaking fracture when you smashed it with the club... the skin could be easily cut with a knife and salvaged for meat, and such.

After some time, suddenly, you feel a few drips of moisture on your back. Turning around to see what it is, it seems like it's about to rain. Sure enough, after a few moments, a light rain starts to shower over the island, leaking through the treetop roof. It's not enough rain to be considered uncomfortable, and the leaves above shield you from most of it.

The weather is a lot cooler than it was before. It feels soothing. And slowly washes the blood off your hands.

Starting Area
@All but Falkare

More time passes, and the birds are still singing as you work and get used to the company of each other. With two of the 'late wakers' now awakened, it feels a little more like a team. The one remaining unconscious lady seems to be slightly stirring, and occasionally mutters an incoherent word to herself.

She does not respond in any way to Katsuko, though.

She seems to be starting to wake up peacefully, though covered in clay. It looks like it'll take a little more time before she awakens... but she's getting somewhere, at least.

Suddenly, a pattering comes above.

...It's started... raining? Sure enough, after a few moments, a light rain starts to shower over the island, leaking through the treetop roof. It's not enough rain to be considered uncomfortable, and the leaves above carefully shield you from most of it. The clay pit seems to be getting a little wetter from the moisture, and seems sticky compared to earlier.

The weather is a lot cooler than it was before. It feels soothing.

Those with 5 or above Accuracy notice that...
[spoili]The spirits seem to be enjoying the rain, too. A little more are present, and seem to be moving a little slower and in a more casual fashion than before. An occasional ethereal whisper passes through their lips now and again.[/spoili]

The strangest part about the rain, however, is that the sky seemed clear and blue before. Even now, it seems clear and blue... though there's now just a patch of grey right in the middle of it. None of you were watching the sky the whole time, so you suppose the cloud just drifted over.

Those with 7 or above Knowledge realise that...
[spoili]The pattern of the cloud is extremely... natural. It doesn't seem to be artificially created, or even warped by a sudden gust of wind - so it's very likely the cloud just drifted over on its own. Magic precise enough to create such a normal-seeming cloud doesn't seem possible.[/spoili]

The ground is getting a little soggy, and tiny streams of water are flowing into the river. It's nothing to be concerned about though. If anything, the very light shower is quite relaxing, compared to the very hot sun. The sound of Luther's hard work at chopping wood, and the occasional talking seems to be all that disturbs the nice sound of rain hitting leaves.

The first night approaches. But there's still quite a lot of daytime left, seemingly.

Hearing a grunt from behind her, Lilith merely glanced over her shoulder. From her angle, she was able to see the man standing up. She noticed he immediately went to check his waist, where his weapon was. As though it was instinct. She turned her attention back to Jay when the man had stood up and listened to what he said. Turns out he was of no help to her. She then noticed his gaze had left hers and instead fell on whatever was behind her. Turning, Lilith say the man who had just awoken. A chuckled escaped her lips when she heard Jay welcome him. Couldn't really blame him though. In her mind, Shi No Gemu was hell on Earth. However, because she had been caught up in everything, Lilith had firgitten they were being watched. Her eyes became cold immediately and her gaze fell to the ground. The mage told us to be ourselves, but what if that winds up killing one of us? The thought itself disturbed Lilith and she shifted, though it was barely noticeable. Her thoughts were interrupted by the voice of a man behind her who spoke of a plan. With a firm nod, she agreed. However, before she walked over to speak with him, a women walked up to Lilith. Looking at her, Lilith listened to what she had to say. "I'm pretty sure we're both alright." Lilith responded, a slight smile on her lips as a sign of friendliness. "Thanks for your concern." She added. Although she may seem to be friendly, Lilith was merely thinking about who could be her allies and who would be her enemies. Maybe the girl before her and Jay could be trusted. However, she didn't that for sure yet so Lilith decided to keep an eye on those two. After finishing speaking, Lilith pushed passed to the man who spoke of the plan. "I'll take first watch." She told him, her voice firm and unwavering. Why did she insist? Lilith wanted to have time to think to herself and she already knew that she wouldn't be able to sleep tonight. Not with the fact that they were in Shi No Gemu and could die at any moment. Lilith then felt something wet fall on her. Looking up, she noticed that it had started raining. She then heard murmurs from the girl that still laid asleep, getting rained on. With a soft sigh, Lilith walked over to the girl and dragged her to shelter under a big leaf. As least this way, the girl wouldn't catch a cold.
