Northern River Bank, travelling East? | Migraine ended. |

"Damn it." Apparently the headache was here to stay for a while and Falkare could only grumble his annoyance at the fact. A look across the river showed that the woman had something to say, but it was difficult to really make anything out given the other sounds that competed with her voice. He simply shrugged off her pompous attitude and glanced at his surroundings again. While the shitty weather might not have dissuaded him normally, with this ailment as well it would have been foolish to venture out.

He drove the tip of his club into the ground next to him as he began to address another problem. Cupping his hands out in front, with the hard rain that had begun to fall it was simple enough to gather enough water for a few drinks, even if it took a while. Surprisingly, and thankfully, it seemed that the water was more than enough to quench his thirst but also somewhat settled his headache.

His lips curled into a wry grin as he grabbed the handle of his weapon and hefted it onto his shoulder again. A glance back at what the others were busy with and he decided it wouldn't make a difference if he decided to venture out alone. With that in mind he began to follow the river to what he guessed must have been East if he had just come from the North, hoping to find some tracks from animals that came down for a drink. As the time flows, the rain continues to pour at a steady pace. Grey clouds swirl above in the skies above, and the wind begins to pick up as the leaves of the bizarre trees howl around you, often stripping a leaf from a tree and leaving it swirling in a delicate spiral up into the air. The river surface makes an ornate pattern due to the Southward winds, leaving the surface of it rippling instead of calmly flowing. Whilst the wind is quite strong, it does nothing but blow the long-haired members' hairdo around.

After a lot of hard work from the group, working together really seemed to get things done. Arn's leadership skills seemed to be on good form - as three of the triangular, simple, shelters stood, ready to be used. Tigress seemed to be really putting her backbone into the work; whilst she couldn't do the fiddly stuff of the shelters, her assistance speed up the construction quite a bit.

Although it'd be a squeeze, the shelters would probably be able to house 3 people each. You could probably fit 4 inside one, but you'd be as tight as sardines. The shelters seem to let a little drop of rain through now and again, but are otherwise watertight, sturdy, and aren't blown over by the wind. Whilst not that comfortable or spacious - they'll get the job done. With the firepit in front of your three shelters, you're finally starting to make a little place you can call 'home'. Or... base camp, at least. Nothing's the same as home, right?

Tigress gives one of the shelters a light kick, presumably to test if it's stable. After it doesn't fall over, she seems to be satisfied enough. Bending over to the river, she briefly splashes some water over her face, before looking round to the half-butchered, pig-like creature.

"Did she literally just pull out the organs? Fucking hell..." Tigress groaned. "...Ugh. Let's butcher that properly and dry the meat. If it's even edible..." Tigress trails off. The only thing that seems to be stopping her properly butchering the animal is the fact she doesn't have a proper knife.

Lilith seems to have made some sort of basic cover that keeps the rain off some of the unknown animal and the organs, but didn't succeed in making any sort of proper shelter. Attempting make a fire with two rocks didn't work whatsoever, especially with the pouring rain.

Westward Exploration
#1 | #4 | #7 | #11
Deciding to head out in some sort of direction in the forest, you head Westward by random choice. Stelva's scouting didn't find anything bizarre here, so the quest for some more usable resources is likely to not contain any danger.

As you head off West into the woods, you realise that there seems to be some sort of uphill slope as the trees become denser and denser, the bizarre logs curving in all sorts of directions to block your path in tedious ways. Though, none of you possess any heavy gear, and none of you are slow as snails, so it's pretty easy to get through the thick forest. Jay finds navigating through the forest particularly easy thanks to his parkour abilities.

As you walk, it doesn't take great eyesight to notice something pretty incredible amidst the dense trees and long foilage as the wind howls and the rain pours. It's a beautiful sight to see amidst the already pretty atmosphere of the place.

A tree. But not just any tree: a thick and fat one with bright, bluish bark. Every now again, some sort of yellowish gem seems to embedded on the side of the short, stumpy blue tree. You can count about 10 of the small little yellowish gems, though they're stuck to the tree very tightly. It's quite an amazing little sight. The tree seems extremely tough, and even Luther's axe back at base camp probably won't cut through it. Curious.

Logic dictates that if you're looking for tree sap, you won't know if some of the trees contain it without cutting into it first. This regards back to the trees in the starting area, too.

There seem to be no tracks to note. There are some new plants here, too.

Eastward Hunt
#10
You crawl alone Eastward through the dense foilage, and over the twisted stumps of the forest. The trees soon thin out, revealing a wide stretch of grassland with a large, broad clay pit, turned gloopy and bubbling a little from the rain and wind. Stepping in it would probably reduce in getting stuck, or slowed by quite a bit. It's a bit like the little clay pit back at camp, only much larger.

Little white mushrooms seem to grow in the grassland every now and again, though your Knowledge gives you not even a remote idea if they're edible or not. Falkare... eat... mushroom...? As much as you try, you really can't figure out if there's anything up with the mushrooms other than them being little. And white.

Then you see it.

Small, prone, with a long and sharpened stick in its hand. Bizarre blue, almost scaly skin, with a humanoid shape and look to it - although it's much smaller than your average human. Short and stubby, a bit like a dwarf, only a little taller. As it's not facing you, you can't make out its face, but in general - from what you can see - this thing doesn't look pretty. It seems to be wearing a loincloth made of some sort of dried blue hide.

It hasn't noticed you - and it probably would've noticed you before you noticed it yourself if it weren't for your stats. It seems to be looking... scouting, even, to the direction of the Starting Area. It grunts to itself, shifting its grip on its spear, as it watches. You have no idea what could be going through its head. It's not too far away from the clay pit, either - and seems to have attempted to smear some clay on itself to cover up the very obvious-to-spot blue skin.

Its wooden spear is covered in blue-black blood.

Arn Woodson
Arn Woodson looked over at both Stelva and Gideon- noticing that they both seemed to have congratulated him- or comforted him, one way or another. It was a bit relaxing, and he felt a smile perk up from within him. He nodded towards them, and stuttered out a "T-thanks..." before finishing up the final part of the camp. He sighed as he believed that he had done his job properly, and was thinking now about laying down in one of those tents and chill out... until the mentioning of a carcass, the rain beginning to soak his clothes and lastly the lack of a fire. Fuck. Fuck. FUCK! Arn approached the tossed aside organs, and immediately took ahold of what he assumed to be the stomach of the beast, and walked over towards the river with it. He opened one end of the stomach, and let the water flow into the stomach- filling it up slowly but surely. "Someone, we need to get as much of the goods as we can under some form of shelter- such as the firewood, the sticks and the rope! We need to get this done quickly before night hits us, because that's going to cool us down to hell!" Arn began to empty the stomach of the tainted water further down the river- to ensure that the water wouldn't suffer from the fact that he's cleaning a... whatever, creature's organ in it. Once the water seeping through the pig stomach began to come out clear once more- Arn folded the stomach in two, and began to very carefully turn the stomach inside-out, allowing him to get a good look at what was inside it. "I need a knife! And someone go on and help Tigress if you got a knife as well- I can make a water container out of this if I get a knife, but we'll need food as well- so just try to help us both out as soon as possible." As Arn realized help would take some time to arrive, Arn set aside the stomach close to a pool of Sand- a bit far off the water: That way, it would begin to harden up a bit- or so he atleast hoped, without actually causing the stomach to solidify. That way, he had done a nearly complete water-sack, using the stomach of the creature.

Now, however: he had another job to do, get a fire started- and he remembered how to do it with numerous ways- albeit, he given that there were no flint, no sun, especially nothing of interest: Arn decided to do it the old fashioned way. He went over towards where he had put the poorly done reed, and took ahold of it- he could atleast put it to some form of use now. He reached over for a bendable stick, and began to bend it over to form into a U. With this, he tied the reed-rope at the both ends of the stick, keeping it in the U shape. He reached over for a nearby twig and began to turn it around in the rope- until it was secured not firmly, but just enough for it not to spring about- if it was held in place, of course. This created the item makeshift fire-starter. Then, he reached over towards some of the dry grass from the shelter, and placed it on some of the stack of the firewood- after he had put the firewood in the firepit, of course. He began to crush up some of the dry grass until it looked like a bunch of fibers were left, and he put the stick part of his fire-starter into the hole of the firewood, and began to zig-zag with the stick, back and forth: back and forth. And hoped to the gods- or whatever was out there, that there would be a hot- although a very small, fire starting to come up from the friction between the stick and the firewood. Arn began to feel a bit... stressed up, like- properly stressed. As in, he'd suffer some form of penalty if he kept on working like this without a damn break. But he began to focus on just getting the damn fire started... and then he'd get to calm down.

[fieldbox="DELVENIA ESME, darkseagreen, dashed, 10, Georgia"]Delvenia threw her smile to another volunteer, "The more the merrier they say~" Without waiting for any command, Delvenia danced her walk away into the unknown forest. Exploring forest at night where her sight limited was not something she would enjoy, normally. However, she couldn't avoid reality that she was now here to survive, she must came home in one piece... to make her father regretted his decision, maybe took revenge for nightmare he cast on her. She would make him see what she was capable of, what she could do, more than just a fancy lady with dress.

As she walked deeper into the forest, she started to lose her breath. The ground was not on her side, she needed to climb, walking uphill to find what they were looking for. Sometimes her foot slipped and made her body touched the ground in the harshest way she could. Rain made the land more slippery than it should be and her umbrella didn't help her much, except helping her body to stay dry. Thankfully, she managed to make her fall as dazzling as she could make. Even falling couldn't kill her stunning aura, she would always stay charming and enchanting. Another time, she would ask other to wait for her when her legs started to beg for mercy. Delvenia could feel some of the group (she didn't want to mention particular person) radiated piercing glare to her when she asked to take some rest. Well, again, not everyone pleased being around her and Delvenia obviously didn't have too much time to please everyone.

Her struggle finally gave something in return. Delvenia and her teammates arrived at somewhere beautiful, somewhere bewitching. It was just a sole big tree, normal one, but the yelowish gems around it made it stood out more than other trees around. Delvenia walked closer to tree, touching its bark with her bare hand. Her thumbs playfully stroked it while her eyes examined the tree. She was pretty sure that this tree contained tree sap more than they needed, but she needed to cut it first to ensure. Then, her eyes shifted to the gems, she was more interested with the pretty gems embedded on it. So, she crouched and let her hand felt the smooth surface of those tiny gems.

After she was finished observing the tree, she looked back at her teammates while still crouching near the tree, "Any of you brings sharp knife? We need to cut this tree to make sure if it has enough tree sap for us. I can't help with the cutting job, but I can take the gathering job after you cut it."

Stelva Mattaro

Stelva was helping Arn move things under the shelter when Serick spoke to her again. Seems like we have a talkative sort here.

"Been a few years." Seven, to be exact. Stelva's attitude towards the man was standoffish, but she could still manage common decency. She honestly didn't have anything personal against Serick. It was just her natural prejudice; she wasn't even fully aware of how obvious her mood was.

"I was once military, too," she added after a while, before changing the topic. "This tent's getting full, put the rest of the wood in the other one."

By the time she looked around the camp again, Stelva noticed the number of people had decreased. She cursed under her breath and hoped they could find their way back to the camp. If the rain got any worse, they might get in real trouble. God knew what kind of climate they were in.

With the shelters mostly ready, Stelva looked around for anything else to do. Seeing both Tigress and Arn complain about the lack of a knife to process the animal carcass, Stelva readily offered up hers temporarily. They needed food now, and meat was invaluable in this situation.

Feeling chilled, Stelva decided to make use of the shelters for a brief rest and dry herself off. It was also a perfect moment to check on the surrounding areas. With the clay pit scanned, she turned her attention to the south instead, where the curious crater lay.

"Whatever it is, I hope it's good news."

Luther Engrem

Luther could see how stressed Arn was becoming. And with good reason. They had no fire real, and the the rain would ruin their collected materials. He stripped a tree of a large piece of bark, and laid it against the trunk. Then using stones from around, he covered on side, and stabilized the bark, creating a nice cubby to store their hard earned supplies. He then went to aid the smith in stoking his flame.

"No need to worry so much. It is natural to be concerned, however if we were to become too hysterical we could easily make mistakes."

Luther stretched his arm out and into the fire, focusing on creating the flame. Unlike with making the bowl and boiling the water, this flame didn't need to be quite ae controlled. It worked it seemed, as the flame grew exponentially. While it wouldn't last forever, it seems the rain and the wind were not about to put the fire out any time soon, thanks to the overhang of the trees, Luther assessed.

After he had accomplished his goal, Luther turned to the discarded. While not the most glamorous meal there had to be something edible there. The liver would be one thing that could be eaten.

Spotting one of the people who he'd be heading out with and began to follow her, he knew they needed warmth first and foremost and he might be able to make a shiv later. He wasn't too sure about the three he was along with, they seemed fine, one seemed to not fit in with the rest of the group and the other fit in much more. She seemed friendly, looking at her she seemed taller and a bit stronger than him but that wasn't a bad thing, he was glad someone seemed to be able to take a hit in their group. The final one in the group seemed fast she was also the first person he talked to but she didn't seem all that interesting.

Hearing Delvenia asking something about if anyone has a knife, in response he pulled out his short sword, "Will this do?" He asked jokingly. Moving over to the tree he began to carve a cut into the trunk to let out the sap, as he does so a yellow sap begins to seep out. "So what's the plan? I'm guessing gathering fire wood, but what are we gonna do with this sap?" He asked slightly walking away from the tree beginning to look out for some wood he could sharpen into shivs.

Gideon nodded in response to the blacksmith's expression of gratitude, but otherwise remained silent, continuing his work. Things seemed to be going smoothly. There were three shelters constructed already. Though roomy, he surmised that only three people could fit semi-comfortably in them, which meant they'd need at least one more to house everybody. The mage glanced up, listening to Stelva as she spoke. She seemed like the military sort. Confident and sure of herself. Little patience for B.S. Maybe that was why she clearly didn't approve of him. He probably seemed rather full of it, didn't he?

Finding this rather ironic, he finished bracing the last of the shelters and armed sweat from his brow, though that was probably pointless since the raindrops that made it through the cover of trees overhead kind of did that job for him. The group was relatively quiet now. Or at least it was. Arn suddenly ran off, grabbing what appeared to be an organ that Lilith had discarded from the pig before going to the river. He lacked a cutting utensil to be of any service, but Stelva offered hers easily enough, and Luther made fast work of making a storage place for their items. Gideon got to his feet and set to work gathering anything that may have been missed and placing it in the makeshift cubby, including the length of cordage that had been in his pocket the whole time.

As he did this, he looked around. Katsuko, Delvenia, and . . . Jay were still gone. So was that other guy who had yet to introduce himself even after tossing the pig carcass in their general direction. That one was a bit of a recluse. Gideon sort of envied him. The mage was starting to feel a little out of sorts, which a good recharge off by himself usually fixed. It was getting dark, however, and who knew what sort of creatures were waiting for someone to wander off by himself or herself. No matter how much he disliked large groups and most social interactions, he liked the prospect of being mauled and beaten to death even less.

And there was still the matter of that last shelter. Arn was preoccupied, Stelva was warming herself and doing some scouting it seemed, and Luther was busy casting flame magic in the fire pit. Gideon smirked. A very handy skill, that magic. When he was finished, Gideon thought about asking him for help, but the man left to go search the rest of the pig organs that were strewn about. As Gideon looked around, he realized that left only one person to talk to. The mage almost laughed when he found that he was slightly intimidated by the fact.

"Umm, Tigress, right? I'm Serick. Would you mind helping me make a fourth shelter so everyone has a place to sleep? Unless you're going to attend to the pig, in which case, feel free to ignore me."

He studied one of the shelters for a moment. "I think I can manage to not screw it up too badly by myself."

Arn Woodson

Arn Woodson sighed in either relief, or because of the matter of fact that now: it wouldn't be too hard to get a fire up and running. He reached over for his fire-starter kit, and began to draw it back and forth, back and forth against a hole in the stock- letting the friction caused by his fire-starter kit to aid in the creation of a fire that would last a hundred thousand years... most likely not. But hey, atleast he would be able to get a fire up in no time. He looked over towards Luther, and gave him a nod "Thanks for uh, helping out. You too, Lilith- right? Thanks to all of you, for helping out." He imagined himself saying that, and thought he sounded like a wuss... but he none the less got it out there. He stopped using the firekit once he realised that the fire had begun to climb up relatively steadily, and also with the aid of Luther. Arn sighed with relief as the fire began to crack with a few bursts of fire spouting up from the campfire. Arn walked down towards the sand pile that he had left the water 'bag' at, and took ahold of it. Deciding that he couldn't wait forever, he looked over towards a nearby pile of rocks, and began to scourage through them until he found a side of a rock that was relatively sharp, and thought that it would have to do. He pressed the edge of the rock against the sides of the bag, and began to very carefully to scrape some residue off the stomach, ensuring that it was as sterile as it would ever become from this, and once he finished it, he tightened up the hole where the water would be poured into by making a few subtle ties-, that would be just enough to let water pass through at a steady pace. Thus he made sure that there shouldn't be too much room for the water to escape from now with the hole slightly tightened by a cramping up the hole that'd go to the stomach normally- thus completing the water bag.

Arn sighed, now believing that he had finally completed his work- and flopped over towards a nearby tent, finally beginning to relax after such a day of working constantly. He had as a matter of fact forgotten two things: one, he was thirsty as hell, and two- he felt his stomach growl a tiny, tiny bit- indicating he could use something to eat. He hoppled over towards the bowl that Luther had made, and took ahold of it- gulping away at the water that was inside of it. He felt the water divide itself evenly throughout his body, how it went through every part of his veins and blood vessels- and holy hell if it didn't feel good. He panted slightly after drinking the water, and set the bowl down carefully. Heck, he definently needed that. He returned back towards the shelter he with the help of a few others had created, and laid down in satisfaction. "There... not sure what else we can do today... I'd much rather just try to relax the rest of the day- and just... y'know, talk." However, Arn suddenly heard Serick proclaim once more- and this time, wanted to make a fourth shelter. Arn sighed and began to push himself out of the tent once more, and nodded once to Serick "Yeah... Let's get this over with, I'm tired." Arn began to do the corner stones once more for crafting the shelter again, this time however he appeared clearly exhausted from his works, but none the less seemed to be doing his best to aid Serick as much as he can.

Lilith traveled with the others, taking in the scenery and mapping everything in her head. She'd always been fond of forests and such things so she was really loving this. Minus the rain. After a few minutes of walking, the group approached a tree with large twisted roots. A smile played on Lilith's lips and she walked up to it. Without a moments hesitation she began climbing through the trunks. It was rather easy and Lilith was one of the first to come out. The two of them waited for the two others before continuing on their journey. After a short while, they came to a clearing with a large tree in the middle. It was thick and the bark was a beautiful blue color. Walking up to it, Lilith rested her hand on the bark, then noticed a yellow sparkle. Looking at it closer, it was a gem but it seemed to be wedged in there. Turning to her teammates, she already saw them carving into the tree like it was a dead thing. Jackasses. She thought before resting her forehead on the trunk, whispering thanks and asking it to grant her the wisdom and knowledge she needs to continue on. While doing this, Lilith heard the leaves move in the distance and quickly stood straight. Putting a hand on the hilt of her sword, Lilith stared at the direction it had come, eyes narrowed. "Hurry it up guys! We don't have all night!" Lilith called to them. What she really wanted was for them to get away from here, in case that rustle in the leaves is a predator. Can't have people dying that quickly.

Stelva Mattaro
Stelva's focus was momentarily broken by the flash of fire. Luther was at the firepit, helping a struggling Arn light it despite the wind and rain. She cocked an eyebrow when the flames reared up, reaching a stable blaze that the raindrops fizzled when they dropped. Luther's fire magic was invaluable in an environment like this one. How she wished she had the time to study elemental magic before she joined the game. It wasn't something even she could pick up within the span of a few months. Judging from his proficiency, Luther must have been practicing for years.

With the fire started, ebbs of warmth began to waft towards Stelva. It was comfortable.

"That is extremely convenient, Luther. I envy you. Elemental magic was never one of my forte, and I gave it up in preference of other pursuits," Stelva said from her shelter. And to Arn, when he laboriously brought himself to continue work on the forth shelter, "Arn, take a break. Don't forget where you are. How are you going to run when you're tired? I have already summoned my soldier and it won't tax me any more if I use it. Let me handle the heavy lifting, at least until it wears out."

With a few mental commands, the armored soldier began to carry materials to build another shelter. It wasn't the most dexterous of beings, so progress was slow. However, it was free labor, which allowed the rest to take a breather. Stelva wondered what her teachers would think when they see how she was using the spirits of war. To them, they were something honorable and sacred, not beasts of burden. Menial tasks were left to the servants, even though magic was so much easier. The old fools, Stelva chuckled.
