ll Hiya. I'm a new member of IwakuRoleplay. I just noticed that there was a roleplay group for Owari no Seraph, and I would love to join. I'm a newbie, but I hope I didn't make too many mistakes! :D ll
"Make no mistake. That was the doctrine that I lived for, and will continue living for."
Name: Shiranui Shinra
Gender: Male
Age: 22
Team: Team 2
Rank: Major
Appearance:
Personality:
Shiranui, despite having the looks of a delinquent, is a rather calm, positive and laidback individual. He bears a rather lazy and bored expression outside of work. To get himself peppy, he takes the title of being the most talkative in his squad; often making snarky remarks in a sarcastic and playful tone. Name-calling is one of the man's specialties, based on observation and first impression whenever he is introduced to recruits. He believes that getting stronger is the only way to defeat the vampires at this point. The only hint of arrogance in his form is when he actively riles up anyone from the MDC, from rookies to even his squad leader (who is the commanding officer of the MDC) into fighting him. He does this not only for him to gain battle experience, but for also the soldiers he is provoking to a fight to get stronger as well. While he expects to win most of his mock battles, he takes losses relatively well as he garners respect towards those who
manage to give him a decisive defeat. He has a habit of patting a rookie's head, shoulder or back as a sign of affection or respect.
Shiranui prefers to work alone, even in the battlefield. He is the first to suggest joining on the front lines. This does get him quite an earful from his squad and peers, though they do not doubt his capability to work singlehandedly. While he does act recklessly, Shiranui is savvy enough to know when the odds are against them. When this happens, he is the first to issue retreat orders. He rarely works together with his squadmates, but nevertheless treats them like family. This also applies to the entirety of the Moon Demon Company, being one of the first few to mourn over casualties. He does tend to question his commanding officer's pragmatism and lack of compassion but never his capability to lead.
Shiranui has immense guilt over his sister's death, believing that his mistake caused it. Two things motivate him to kill the bloodsuckers; with the pursuit of strength being secondary. He is primarily driven by revenge, and getting stronger is just a means to do so. He immediately brushes off the topic of his past when it is mentioned, stating that past is past. Despite his flaws, he refuses to make mistakes, as it was the doctrine taught to him by his father.
Shiranui has deep, justified hatred towards the vampirekind, considering them to be humanity's natural archnemesis. Mephistopheles feeds from his hatred, granting him power in exchange for insanity. When this occurs, his positive demeanor vanishes and transforms to something beyond tranquil fury. He even has a slight tendency to go ax-crazy during his encounters against vampires, with even some of them who barely escape his rampage commenting that he has the face of a monster. His squadmates know this trait well, being the only people who have the ability to calm him down whenever his behavior becomes too dangerous. He does resist Mephistopheles' temptation with little trouble, at least until he decides to get too reckless or when the situation becomes drastic.
Background/Biography:
Shiranui Shinra resided in Hokkaido, Japan. The lad was abandoned by his biological parents until he was found by a maid of an adoption center. Shiranui stayed there from birth until he was four years old, when he was finally adopted and named by a woman named Naomi Shinra. He was trained by Naomi's husband and his adoptive father, Kaido Shinra, who was the master of a prestigious Martial Arts school in Japan. He created the Same-Keitai, a high-risk high-reward martial arts that only few determined individuals could master, with many others who tried ended up failing. He was also taught the doctrine "Make No Mistake", as stated by his father that a single mistake can cause the lives of many. Shiranui rose up through the ranks of the school, eventually becoming its ace student. He has a little sister, Ayumi Shinra, who became his sole motivation to train. The two share an extremely close brother-sister relationship, growing up together and with her egging him on to become strong enough to protect her.
One night, Shiranui and Ayumi woke up to a rather disastrous event. Hearing ensuing chaos outside the dojo courtesy of explosions, they quickly find out that adults were dying one after another, including their own parents. The situation became worse when white-cloaked vampires invaded their home, in search of wandering children. Despite being broken and confused, the duo managed to hide from them. After an hour of recuperation, they walked outside the dojo and headed towards the outskirts of the city, in horror after witnessing the entirety of adults dead and children being captured by the vampires.
The duo traversed through the city unnoticed, planning to escape and seek refuge. Shiranui sees a passing helicopter, and thinking that they were going to be rescued, the young man shouted and waved his arms up in the air to get their attention. In abject horror of making a fatal mistake, he realizes that the helicopter itself was operated by the vampires. They were swiftly captured despite running for dear life, with Ayumi being sucked dry by a vampire and Shiranui being forced to watch. The young lad was then knocked unconscious and was imprisoned.
When he woke up, Shiranui found himself captured by the vampires in an underground area. Then he realized the fact that his dear sister is gone. As that realization slapped him back to reality, Shiranui grew immense hatred for the vampires and quickly tried to kill one the instant he saw one. But the bloodsucker proved to be even stronger than him, despite going through rigorous training. He was jailed for five years for this violent act, restrained and toyed around with by the merciless vampires as they cruelly show their superiority towards "livestock" like him. Only the face of his sister cheering him on in his thoughts kept him alive at this point. As those brutal five years passed, he was finally rescued when the vampires were slain by humans wielding seemingly supernatural weapons.
When he was freed, Shiranui finds out that the people who rescued him were part of a vampire extermination unit called the Moon Demon Company. That, and the virus that wiped out 90% of humanity was caused by the vampires. He was offered the chance to fight back the bloodsappers, in which his choice was obvious. Shiranui had already lost everything; his adoptive mother, father and sister. He had nothing else left to lose, and he wanted revenge. So he accepted and joined the Japanese Imperial Demon Army.
With sheer will and determination, he even managed to tame Mephistopheles, a high-ranking Black Series Demon twins and received his own Cursed Gear. Like his training at the Shinra dojo, he rose up to the ranks of the vampire extermination unit and soon became one of its most accomplished of the elite veteran soldiers. He promises to purge the vampires in retaliation for his family's death, and not to make another mistake like before which caused the death of his sister.
Combat Style: Same-Keitai
The Same-Keitai or "Shark Form" is a combat style that was taught to Shiranui by his adoptive father. "Being a shark means having to charge towards an opponent with sharp reflexes and speed while closing in for the kill." The "Make No Mistake" doctrine is implemented here, as not being fast enough to dodge even a single strike could be fatal and in worst case scenarios, cause the death of the user.
Cursed Gear Name: Mephistopheles
Mephistopheles are Black Series demon twins, in the form of two small double-barreled axe shotguns. Mephisto and Pheles are considered to be the most spiteful of the Black Series Demons and the most difficult to tame. When a single demon is already hard to control enough, two demons at the same time is a challenge that most people who tried quickly backed off rather than risking the fact that they might fail and transform into a demon. It was untouched and untested for years, until Shiranui, who was searching for an extremely capable weapon tested the demon's bloody trial knowing the risks. To the JIDA's surprise, he was able to control and harness their powers with sheer mind endurance and the immense will to live. This garners him respect from the higher-ups of the JIDA, promoting him to a high rank at such a young age despite his lack of experience in commanding soldiers.
Mephistopheles works in perfect sync with Shiranui's Same-Keitai combat style, as a double-barreled shotgun requires firing at point-blank range for maximum effectiveness. As its user swiftly rushes toward vampires with excellent agility, he points said weapon usually at the target's head and pulls the trigger which deals not only massive damage, but instant death to its victim. Another method that he utilizes is letting the target approach him and parry their melee attacks with one of the twins and firing from point-blank range with the other twin.
The shotgun shells are permanently embedded in the cartridge chamber and do not need to be reloaded and replaced, as there is no unlocking lever and breech. Said shells inside the weapon is already imbued with demon explosive darkflame shrapnel that can be recharged; although it does take six seconds for this process to occur, thus allowing the user to fire again.
While his weapons recharge their next shot, this doesn't mean he is easily vulnerable. Cue its sharp-bladed axe attached under the barrel of the weapons. Since it's also infused with the power of the Black Demon Series, a single cut can limit the healing of vampires and can even kill them with one hit.
They can passively reload the next shots faster, firing like a semi-automatic shotgun; at the cost of draining the user's mental sanity. This is due to the demons' feeding at their user's mental state. The causes of this are when the user isn't able to indefinitely control their power, such as prolonged battles. This drawback can be repelled if the user has strong willpower.
Awakened Ability: Demon's Rift
Mephistopheles gains the ability to create connecting portals from a moderate distance. Shiranui (and only Shiranui) can traverse through these portals, thus making his movements much more unpredictable as if he was teleporting. At most though, he only uses his ability to point his weapon through the portal and to the target's head from said distance for a quick and easy kill. The drawback is the heavy strain the user suffers afterwards and continuous use of this ability can strain the user enough to transform into a demon.
