You remember Father Tobyn once mentioned the 7 standing stones. You thought it was fucked up that they built the church over an ancient gypsy site. He responded that even the gypsies don't own the stones. They just like to think they do. Truth is, the stones were around even before the gypsies. That was all he said.
In your time with the gypsy tribes, you've never seen them dance inside standing stones. The dances are usually more informal, communal affairs. Not religious rites. You find this part of the story confusing.
The only living descendant from the first tribe is Madame Mvashti, an old... fortune...teller >_>. Back then, there was a skirmish between the gypsies and settlers from the Scarnetti family. Many died and there was public outrage. Mayor Deverin's grandfather intervened and ordered the Scarnettis to make reparations. So Lord Scarnetti gave Madam Mvashti a large house in the middle of town and put a loophole in the deeds that the house would return to his ownership upon Mvashti's death. But the old woman has refused to die. She lives alone in the giant house, shuffling between dusty rooms and complaining about how all the prophecies are not coming true in the current age.
