Name: Jaromir Vyache
Age: 21
Nationality: Renala
Gender: Male.
Appearance:
A typical example of a tall northern barbarian male at 6'2 and broad shouldered. His hard it long and falls over his face partially hiding the black bandage wrapped around his head to hide the scars and empty sockets that make up his eyes. He dresses in the standard uniform for his position but has a wolf pelt draped around his shoulders and a bone necklace with a rune that reads "Vyache" carved into it's surface, the only symbols he keeps of his dead family and he honors their spirits even after joining the sword singers. He has the beginnings of a beard on occasion when he forgets to shave, though it still takes a couple of days for it to become visible at his young age. He allows no one to see under the bandages covering his face except for his singer, and then they are removed it is clear whoever removed his eyes used heated implements and what either very clumsy or enjoyed causing as much pain as possible.
Short Background:
Jaromir was born in Sobravna, a small village in Renala who chose to live peacefully and apart from the laws of the nation. Settled in the far north where mountain met sea they make their livelihood fishing and hunting whenever they could. Jaromir, those name means peace, was born as the oldest son in the family that held the traditional ruling seat on the village counsel and grew up to be a hunter, with a bow and knife to fell the great deer that inhabited the inhospitable climate.
In his thirteenth spring they received word from a group of village hunters that a large group of armed men were heading up the pass towards the village and with most of the men away fishing and seal hunting there were only very few left to defend the village, and with his father away it was Jarimir's responsibility to lead them.
He waited until night to take his small band of little less than children out into the lingering snow and sneak to a point above the enemy camp. Their goal was to cause an avalanche to bury the camp or at least seal the pass long enough for the men to get back, but they were discovered and quickly surrounded, and no mach for trained soldiers were quickly subdued.
The men it seemed belonged to a Renalan Baron who had taken it onto himself to rid the north of the "The Barbarian Menace" and despite their village keeping to themselves they would be made and example of for the others in the area, starting with the band who tried to bury the Baron and his man in snow. Those with spears had their right hands cut off, those with bows were blinded, they were then set free to wonder back to Sobravna right before the Baron arrived and entered unopposed. Everyone was captured and then the men returned they walked right into a trap.
With the population under his control the Baron rounded up the Vyache family and had every one of them but Jaromir killed, then the families of those who dares to try and fight here treated similarly and the houses burned. They were then released and told to leave or swear loyalty to Renala and the Baron. They chose the former, heading further north into even more inhospitable territory, swearing never again to let anyone find them and where they lived.
Jaromir though fell into despair his family dead, maimed and blinded and in constant pain he only survived because Radinka Molot and her family who were also on the counsel, and they tended his wounds, still he felt like he had failed the village and that this was somehow his fault. A year after the raising of the village, and now semi-adjusted to his disability it was Radinka who suggested they travel south, and find new lives as swordsingers.
Personality: Jaromir is helpless without Radinka in many ways. She is his eyes, his companion, she cooks the food they once ate in Renala and it is through her song that he can aim his bow as a marsman. Withou her song he can aim as well as could be expectected, he can shoot at sounds with reduced acuracy and feel his way around but should never be without her. This is reflected in the gentle way he treats her and in his protectivness of her, and the others he cares about. To stangers he is gruff and untrusting, to foes he is unforgiving and to anyone who tried to harm Radinka he is brutal.
With the physical, there are emotional scars as well and it is not unknown for him to have difficulty sleeping as he remembers the last thing he saw, or will ever see. Hos main goal however is to make a new life, and be what he can be despite what has happened to him, if anyone mentions what happened to his vilage, or the man responsable however, he will immediatly start brooding and fighting the need for revenge.
