Well...Kaz wasn't intent on fighting these things, which meant he had a self-preservation streak. Good. Which alternately meant these rats could eat them for breakfast, which was terrible. He sheathed his knife, just to make sure while running he didn't stab himself by accident, before starting to move. It took a few seconds to readjust to moving in water, but picked it up again with ease. The water was his home. Maybe not this water, but most water was his people's domain.
Kyrian had to do something to aid the others in getting out. Sure, he could probably debase himself by dunking himself fully in the water and gliding away using his superior swimming capabilities, but he wasn't about to ditch Kieran and Kaz- which meant a more magical solution was needed. He activated his magic, centering it on himself, Kaz, and Kieran- a spell to enhance their running so they would be faster, and the water less of a hindrance to their movement. Now, he could have tried to use a walk-on-water spell, but there were three of them, and that would cost a lot of magic-they weren't 100% out of options yet.
Kaz took his arm, throwing him and Kieran in front of him the moment Kyrian finished his spell, where Kyrian swiftly took on the job of getting Kieran and himself out while Kaz covered their assess. He himself took Kieran's arm before swiftly moving through the water, doing his best to keep the both of them on track. Even though the water was full of gunk and shit, his feet could still find purchase in the water in ways that the other humanoids would have difficulty doing. The water was his people's home "I'll get us through the water. Look for an exit!" Kyrian hollered to Kieran before concentrating deeply on forging a path for Kieran and Kaz- taking care of Kieran long enough so Kaz could catch up.
