The native man approached Kieran, he did feel kinda uncomfortable, added to the fact that the man referred to him as 'little guy', Kieran brushed it off. The man may seem unhinged but he offered to accompany him.

"Alright, the scream came this way," Kieran said but just as he was about to walk off, they heard the healer from earlier speak out and offer to help the duo. It was kinda surprising but they gave him a confident yet friendly smile "great glad to have you on our side". When the healer made the comment about Kieran being in the middle he wasn't offended, instead, he chuckled at the comment. "Nah, it's okay, I know I'm not a good fighter and I may be half-elf but I'm bad magic, buuut I do happen to be a pretty good strategist" he replied.

(Good round. Keep it up.)

The Assistant Director quickly became flustered by all that was going on. Between the alarms, the frantic scurrying of the staff, the rowdiness of the individuals before him, and more to come, the older man gave a wide eyed sigh through his nose and shook his head for a moment to get some focus back. He chose to reply to Verity after she managed to snag his attention.

"A Baroness was here? I was not informed. I was busy with my research. I'm sure some of the other staff members may know more, but it's not uncommon for visitors to linger after hours assuming they are making their way toward the exit. Any agreements she had with the staff in charge of security would be between them alone, I'm afraid,"

The assistant Director's reply was just as dry as before but louder to be audible of the din. His eyes looked past his spectacles curiously to the tall open doors of the entrance across the chamber at the approach of several hurried individuals heralded by the clank of metal on the polished stone and ceramic floors. It was a half-dozen unit of Eldritch Knights summoned by the alarms and perhaps anyone running screaming from the museum in the past half hour. While Verity and Solomon were recognized, the unit quickly drew weapons in regardless to the rest of the people standing around the corpses of bandits.

Kyrian's efforts to restore the wounded man to awareness was a success. After the light faded, the man's eyes opened and he sat up quickly before groaning from the exertion. Verity was able to start prying immediately while the man looked around tried to grasp was what going on since he had been knocked unconscious. Distractedly, he replied belligerently,

"I ain't telln you nothin. Let me go!"
"...How do I leave...surrounded...big bro here?...no....those tits though....will big bro come back for me?..."

The man's surface thoughts were mostly visible on his face, but the details flowed into Verity's mind just as smoothly. It was apparent the man lacked depth to his thoughts, but perhaps it was the frantic nature of the moment. His desire to leave the museum, escape his captivity , and not go to jail or into Knight custody was pretty obvious and matched by images of imagined confinement. He more than once was distracted by Verity's feminine figure. He barely seemed aware of his own distraction. A common male behavior. His lower breeding offering a partial explaination for the more base thoughts accompanying his typical ones. More importantly, Big Bro, the apparent leader of the gang that assaulted the baroness, was named Yeothal with no family name. Associated with Mercantile has a low tier member called upon to handle more shady tasks on the cheap with his gang.

Thorne was seemingly in the clear. Although he kept his warps short distance and in eyesight to improve accuracy, no one bothered to pursue him even if they happened to notice him. Good enough. Thorne had more pressing issues. With no easy means on hand to ensure magical traps were disabled on the orb, he would need to take the orb to a specialist. He happened to know of a man(?) who was associated with Mercantile and was good about not asking any questions in regards to the work requested of him. He would be able to ensure the orb was free of anything that would lead back to Thorne or Thorne's employer. The man used the fitting alias Bones.

Kaz heard a voice behind, turning to see the healer (Kyrian) from before, or what he would call a shaman. Either way, having more people made it all the more exciting, he gave a friendly smile, but his eyes gave a more unhinged look. " The more the merrier as they usually say. " The outside Native gave a thumbs up towards him then turning to the newer guy who just appeared (Kieran), Kaz was going to keep walking when he heard him say he didn't know how to fight. Having a very disgusting look on his face, similar to one being told one of the most vile things ever. Kaz grabbed the poor boy by his shoulders and turned him to look at him face to face " What!? You don't know to fight? Well then, you just let me do all the fighting then, little guy. But! After this, I'll show you how to fight. Everyone needs to learn how to defend themselves! Even if you don't know magic or are bad at it, your hands on your brain can be your best weapons. " Kaz looked over to the healer " And you! I hope you know how to fight too, otherwise I'll teach you too another time. " Kaz was going to continue on when he heard the doors open up and a whole group of weirdly dressed people come in, while Kaz would be excited to have more people to fight.

He got a feeling he should leave while he can, and he always trusted his gut. " Shit... Alright hurry it up you two! " Kaz whisper yelled at both Keiran and Kyrian, pushing the poor inexperience lad pass him. He moved over to Kyrian and pulled him along by his forearm, hopefully they could leave undetected. Pushing both men now into the next room as quick as possible.

Solomon pinched the bridge of his nose as the posse of eldritch knights approached them. This is just what he needed, a bunch of bureaucratic cretins to come along and tamper with his investigation. No doubt the order will want him to give a full length report on the situation as soon as possible.

"Gentlemen." Solomon greeted the group as they drew their weapons. "I can assure you, me and knight Verity have the situation under control, there's no need to draw your weapons."

He gestured to the many Individuals behind him. "These brave samaritans helped to thwart a potentially dangerous situation when a band of mercenaries attempted to attack one Baroness Maspira VonRichten. We have one of the mercenary's right here and are extracting information from him as we speak." He explains while gesturing to the now conscious suspect.

"But if you desire to help, I am sure there are some kittens stuck in the trees, or maybe an old lady who needs help crossing the road." He makes extra effort to pause for dramatic effect. "Now that you mention it, there is a thief who just stole something only a minute ago. If you search now, maybe you'll be able catch them before they get too far." He spoke mockingly, the consequences be damned. He was disappointed in the knights response time, it took them more time than expected to arrive. Who knew what would of become of the baroness if he and the others were not there to help. Or perhaps the knights did know, and just valued a stupid trinket some archaeologist dug up, more than the life of an innocent. Whatever the case, he felt he had some leeway in insulting them for their inability to act sooner.

Verity's growing desire to punch the brigand in the face almost reached a point at which she'd actually do so, but the fact that he was still giving her snippets of useful-ish information was enough to hold her back. Upon finishing her investigation, she was glad to leave the man to his own thoughts, as these types of minds were better left alone. She figured she'd share what she learned with Solomon and her newly arrived colleagues alike, unless said colleagues wanted to pursue whatever had made the alarm go off instead.

Considering Solomon had already introduced them to the situation, albeit in his own less-than-diplomatic way, Verity figured she'd skip straight to her findings. "From what I gather, they were from a gang led by someone going by the name Yeothal. They're loosely associated with Mercantile and get hired for the more shady tasks, so this attack is likely to have been organized and paid for by someone." She then gave a slight grin as she would head for whomever was in charge of the group of fellow Eldritch Knights that entered the museum, after which she'd whisper to him. "The guy we captured is scared of confinement, so he's likely to tell you more once he recovers a bit, for as long as he believes this will give him a chance at freedom.

With that 'dealt' with, she turned towards the Assistant Director. The man's lack of awareness of what was going on in his own museum was surprisingly disappointing. "Could you get me in contact with the responsible staff members? I'd like to figure out how this armed group of brigands managed to run into the museum to begin with, or how they knew the baroness was going to be here. I suspect someone of the staff here might've run their mouths." She deliberated taking a peak at the assistant director's thoughts as well, but he seemed genuinely confused by the situation, so she decided to let him off the hook for now.

She could only watch in wonder as the healer (Kyrian), the guy she had asked to restrain the brigand (Kaz) and the young looking guy (Kieran) all wanted to chase whatever had made the alarm go off. Didn't they know how suspicious that would make them look to the Knights that just arrived? They were basically running from a crime scene. With some luck, Solomon's words explained enough of what was going, but in case that didn't work, Verity decided to very subtle and magically make her colleagues a tad bit more agreeable to make sure that they wouldn't try to attack the three that ran off. She'd rather not risk a fight breaking out between them and her colleagues, after all.

Finally, she turned towards the goblin. "Thanks for you help, did I understand it correctly that you are also a staff member here?" Unlike certain others, she didn't try to lower himself to his level. Instead, she tried not to get distracted by whatever in the world was going on with the guy's nose for it to look deformed to such a degree. If the goblin were to answer positively, she'd follow up with another question. "Do you happen to know more about the baroness' visit here?"

Kyrian hadn't always been a healer, and before he had taken it upon himself to help those he could, he had been taught to fight. There had been a few times where he had to defend his patients, or his own items. Contrary to some people's beliefs, he wasn't a pushover. Though looking at Kaz and his frankly unhinged smile, he was sure that he would lose against the man in a fight. Every new piece of information he learned about this stranger only made him more and more concerned. "Don't worry, I can fight. Maybe not as well as you, but I can hold my own. I'd join in just to learn a bit from you, but it's not life-or death." IT couldn't hurt to widen his skillset, and learning how to fight wouldn't take away from his extensive knowledge of healing. Caring for a patient sometimes became a little...intimate, which was a point in his favor in terms of dealing with people he's healed outside of caring for them.

OF course, the Eldritch Knights came in late- he had been surprised that the two Knights with them had even been there in the first place. It was times like this that made Kyrian groan- the Knight's help was late, and they might as well as not even come. They probably hadn't even seen the attackers running away from the scene of the crime. Looking over the motely group of latecomers, he could see that , and even recognized a few of them. He had healed some of them, and as per usual, the Knights did see battle, and thus had the most memorable wounds. He kept to his word, helping the Eldritch Knights, even though some of them were- for a lack of better words- pretentious shitheads. It didn't help that the main Knight's words had that pretentious formality to them. IF their own were making fun of them...well that was telling enough.

While he was assessing the guards, who of course had the wrong idea as usual, a hand grabbed his arm, and he was pulled along, probably with much more force than Kaz had intended, as he almost fell from Kaz's insistent pull. His face was a mask of shock, having been preparing to plead his case. "What are you doing?" Kyrian whispered harshly to Kaz as the other man dragged him into a room next door. "The Eldritch Knights aren't exactly known for their kindness and compassion, and I don't want to start a fight with them because they have no common sense."

Thorne Glowbrew
/\~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~/\

Even though it seemed the coast was clear for Thorne by the time he exited the museum, Thorne still chose to change his clothes. He replaced his dark black cloak with a light beige one, and his red fox mask with a blue one. He went and waited several minutes to make sure he wasn't being pursued, before heading to his next objective.

Experience had told him that these types of objects typically had magical traps on them, and that could end very badly for his employer. He had already caused someone's head to explode by giving them what they wanted once, he would rather not make that amatuer mistake again with another employer years later. His person of choice was a man that went by the name bones. It was very obvious why he had this nickname, as he had no skin to speak of. It was in a similar fashion to thorne himself, except bones didn't have any leftover organs inside of him.

Thorne soon arrived at the shaman's shady shop in a small alleyway. The shop itself could have easily been missed by the average eye, but Thorne knew what he was looking for. Thorne entered the shop. "Hey bones, I need an item appraised. Hope you don't mind me busting in," Thorne said, entering the shop at the jingle of a bell.

With everything around spiraling into a whirlpool of colorful people and colorful sounds, the simple Gattas stood there with a distant gaze. The entry of the Eldritch Knights broke him from his reverie when their rustling metal armor made his battle instincts sharpen out of nowhere. His fingers twitched with an urge to protect himself, but his conscience was able to sneak up behind that primal reaction and suppress it to a mere whimper. He's been sighing a lot these days, and the events today will probably be a source of more of them; the sigh shook him out from his thoughts and gave him the clarity he needed to address the Lady Verity talking to him.

Listening to her words, his eyes drifted around the room, observing his fellow defenders-slash-rabble-rousers with a hint of a smile at the edges of his lips. Retired he may be from the responsibilities of hunting monsters and taking on various jobs, chaotic environments like this always give him a breath of nostalgic air that spoke volumes of his many adventures. The ragamuffin (Kaz) and the stickler (Solomon) in particular reminded him of the folks that used to accompany him in his youthful years, and these thoughts further pushed his small smirk into a large grin, a slight chuckle snuck through the gaps of his teeth as he placed his full attention on the lass in front of him.

"
Ain't a staff member, but ah knows a handful of 'em. Stirred a lotta shit 'ere, them bastards did.", he replied with a nudge of his chin towards the raving consolation prize. "Pretty sure a gobbo like me ain't a common sight in these fancy-schmancy places, but ah had to be here cuz of a meetin' with 'em higher staff. That's me alibi, while this be me offerins: could help ya ask around if any of 'em caught whiff o' why the Baroness was here, but me thinks it should be safer ta ask when this thievin' scene gets dealt with. For alls we know, that entire schtick coulda been a front ta steal whatever be makin' all this noise."

Thick as oatmeal he may be sometimes, his fountain of experience whispered to him other possibilities that aren't so easily seen on the surface of things. Scratching his chin with his arm, he stared up at Verity with a pondering glow in his yellow eyes as he whispered, "Ah can't help much with formal shite, but ah have a few birds 'round town, could ask 'em 'bout this lout an' them runners that left him behind. Heck, large chance one of 'em bastards passed through mah tavern, since it's the best place ta be." He's in the mindset to show his worth outside of legal actions, since that's where he started off with. True, he wants to get into the good books of the Eldritch Knights, but his ink still runs from the Mercantile factions.

Kieran felt quite uncomfortable by the native man holding him too close, but he once again just brushed it off, when the native man (Kaz) offered to teach them how to fight, Kieran just chuckled "If you can teach a stick like me to fight that is" Kieran joked before they continued walking.

"So I guess since we're risking our lives and possibly going to die soon we should get to know each other, we should probably start by introducing ourselves-" before he could finish Kieran heard footsteps approaching, and before he had a chance to react the native man was pushing them forward, and they went along to where they were being pushed.

Once the trio were safe in another room, a strangely placed bookshelf caught his eye. As the healer and the native were arguing, Kieran approached the shelf, he slightly moved it and saw a tunnel small enough to crawl through, they looked into the tunnel and was able to deduct that it lead to an empty hallway. Kieran turned around, "Hey!" exclaimed just loud enough for the other to hear.

@The_Queer_Alien @slifer

Kaz, being the eccentric person he was, only smiled at Kieran's response " Don't you worry, little man, you have a very experienced teacher before you! I'll teach you how to properly rip a man's spine out of their torso and how to turn a still living being into a bomb! If they have a stomach of course... " He almost shouted in a very confident voice pointing at Kieran, but he had this expression on his face that had excitement but mixed with compassion, he probably loved fighting from the sound of it... Or torturing people more like it.

But just Kyrian asked him what he was doing, Kaz had a look of confusion on his face, almost like he didn't know what the healer meant. "
Uh, making sure we're not caught by those other weirdos in there. I don't know about you, but seeing a fully armed force running through the door reminded me of the other fully armed force that just ran through those doors a few minutes ago. Almost like it happened before or something... " Kaz rubbed his chin with his old scarred hand, something Kyrian could take notice of. His hand was scarred a deep red, almost like blood. The skin looked rough and old. It was pretty different from a regular burn, like it wasn't from fire. But soon enough the same hand was pointed straight at him. Kaz' demeanor changed too, from being the eccentric and calm stranger to a aggressive and hostile one. His orange eye slightly glowed, barely noticeable.

"
That's what I'm making sure isn't going to happen. As much as I'd love to see them burn, looking ridiculous and ready for a fight that has already happened. " Kaz had a look of disappointment as he turned his head to the side, looking out at the group they just left, letting his arm fall to his side as he clenched his fists. " Something tells me to not stick around. Those knights, as you've noted, don't look friendly. I'm surprised the goblin stayed, the other two, the beast-kin and uptight human probably belong to them, based on their outfits, speech and presentation of themselves. They are ones not to be trusted. " Kaz showed his resentment. " Now with this Baroness that was here. She was a demon? Strange she'd be here... " Kaz' lips turned to a evil smile as he turned back to Kyrian " Wouldn't you agree? " He asked just for him to be pulled back to reality by the recent stranger that seemed to have a tunnel of sorts?? That museum was pretty strange.

"
Wasn't there a scream just a little bit ago? Ah, this place is strange. " Kaz scratched his head thinking, now having a look of confusion and frustration on his face, but he seemed normal again. Looking at the healer " Oh yeah. I'm Kaz, Kaz Bloodhawk! " The unhinged man gave a friendly smile " Now, stranger, we should probably move before we get found and, uh... Arrested? What a strange word... Doesn't sound good so let's go, friend. " Kaz patted Kyrian on his shoulder with a hard smack before moving to the shelf.

"
What did you find, little man? The scream come from here? " He asked Kieran looking into the hole.

@The_Queer_Alien @Skyhunter

Kyrian threw a quick prayer up to his patron Kasm, feeling that they would probably need divine intervention when dealing with Kaz Bloodhawk. He didn't like to drink, but he had a feeling that dealing with the man. Though...to be honest, he knew enough about most bodies to be able to successfully rip a spine from a person's body.

His focus shifted suddenly at the sight of the blood-scarred hand, and that feeling rose in him- the one that prompted him to want to help anyone, no matter how they were. It was why he was always in danger of running out of materials- it was like a compulsion. "Your hand. I can't heal all of it now, but if I slowly heal it over a few months, I could probably restore the hand's function. If you want it of course. Just putting the offer out there."

Damn, it was hard to argue with a person who may not be the most mentally stable - when he himself agreed with some of those points. This was his life- try to help out and then events just...happened. Nooooo, he could have just stayed silent and let Kaz take Kieran by himself, but he had to volunteer himself, to be helpful. It probably wouldn't be useful to outright go against Kaz unless it was absolutely necessary, but he could provide a soft counterpoint to Kaz- especially as in a fair fight Kaz would probably drop him.

He waited for Kaz to finish, taking the resentment in stride, simply because he had experience with all types of patients- and not all of them were nice. He waited for Kaz to finish before he started, noting the quick switch in personality- and how uneasy it made him- though he kept that little fact to himself. "Hello Kaz, new person, my name's Kyrian Zamir, if you didn't hear me announce myself to everyone after the battle. The Knights can be....a bunch of assholes, and with my luck, they're going to think we're running away because we murdered those mercenaries, even if in the past you've helped them out in the past. Since we've left already...we might as well follow the tunnel. The Baroness was clearly here for a reason, and those mercs knew her location, and were here specifically to kill her before something happened. Which either means the Baroness is one step ahead of everyone and is doing incredible amounts of plotting, or she has a traitor in her midst." He turned to the kid, acknowledging his surprising find. People tended to respond well to legit compliments, and he wasn't one to not show appreciation for something. His arm stung from the smack that probably had been harder than Kaz had wanted, but he was used to people hitting him harder than intended- senile patients had sometimes done so. "Good find."

"This looks like it leads to an empty hallway, if we follow it we might be safe from the knights," Kieran said. "Well since now we're introducing ourselves, guess it's my turn, my name's Kieran Crestwood" they answered. "Anyway, it may be our only way to escape them. They're gonna be looking everywhere for whatever it is they want, we can't hide in here forever, they're gonna find us eventually, this is our best escape" he said. Kieran looked at their comrades "whatever we find on the other side, can't be worse than getting caught by the knights"

Just as he said that a loud noise was heard just outside the door "shit! We better go!" Kieran said before he easily crawled into the tunnel

(sorry for the delay. site and everything seems spiffy now)(due to the story being split 3 ways for the moment, but posting time may increase to reply to specific groups as they conclude their rounds faster and/or hit things that need world response)

While Kaz, Kyrian, and Kieran hastily made their get away from the scene, Verity and Solomon were able to successfully bring the knights up short of pursuing the 3 runaways. The alarm going off in the museum echoed a few more times in the hall they went down before coming to an abrupt end. Shy of the chamber where the theft had occurred, the hidden tunnel they found was a curious enough find to warrant investigation. As the 3 piled into the narrow crawl space, their path forward quickly steepened before sending all 3 sliding face first into darkness. Only the healer had any chance of slowing themselves. Eventually the trio were deposited in a wet pile with Kieran and Kaz getting minor hurts from the fall (-1). It was pitch black without some form of night vision or light.

Around the three was the echoing sound of running water. They could feel it, among other things, running through their fingers or past their ankles. An overwhelming stench of sewage accompanied the feast for the senses. It would seem some would-be thief of old likely tunneled into the museum on a previous errand and had the means to cover up their entry point. As if the ruined clothes weren't enough, they squeak squeak of giant rats could be heard in large number down the tunnel. Beady eyes, glowing red in the dark, blinked that them menacingly. Behind the party, the tunnel stretched off into darkness, following the flow of dirty water and waste.

Around the same time,

Solomon's words had successfully informed and agitated the newly arrived knights. It was only through Verity's presence that another crime scene hadn't developed. It was also her sense to keep the peace that the captive, whom was no longer being watched or bound, was indirectly pacified enough by her power that he didn't immediately seize the moment to flee. He instead turned to the massive tree and gawked at it for a time. Everyone was a bit slower to act as it turned out. Eventually the Assistant Director lazily mentioned the security guards at the front of the building would be the best ones to speak to regarding matters concerning the evening. He was the first to depart now that the knights were there to secure things and the alarm had been turned off. The knights then lumbered about as if in a dream as they secured the perimeter and chased after an equally sleepy thug who was beginning to get his wits back.

At the front of the Museum of Life, two guard stood on watch. Wearing chainmail and tabard in the green colors associated with the museum and armed with polearms, they made for a menacing display despite not involving themselves in any of the action taking place that evening. Neither moved, but both seemed fully aware of those coming and going into the building at present. Both were present when those who came in through the front arrived.

Elsewhere in town,

Thorne arrived at the shop successfully and was seemingly not followed. Bones was present behind the desk. Between the two men was a varied array of novelty trickets and items of undisclosed purpose. The narrow walkway between the shelves and tables of items between the door and the desk at the back was of creaky floorboards worn from use, but the place didn't seem like one that received much business.

The proprietor wore dark glasses that obscured the view of what seemed like empty eye sockets. However, their emptiness didn't explain how he looked directly at Thorne and said,

"Hmm, another interesting item you have there, boy. Quick, bring it over hear that I might see and do that which needs doing."

His instructions came from a body without lungs or flesh in general, but it was perfectly audible and sounded like a slight man not in old age. Whatever magic that preserved his form was likely responsible. His face lacked all perceivable expression, but his next words were troubling.

"Ahhh, you've done it now, boy. This item was not for the taking and there is not putting it back now...."

@The_Queer_Alien @slifer

Kaz was barely able to move through the this small tunneled section, it was weird that there was such a thing within the museum, here he was looking for a job and now he was going through tight hole. His vision was veiled by only darkness, hardly seeing the outline of the newer guy he just met (Kieran) along with the healer behind him (Kyrian). " So how far do you think this tunnel goes for- " Quickly he was cut off as he plunged down a slope, letting out a gasp of surprise as he plummeted down, head first, into some disgusting tasting water. Kaz quickly stood up, rubbing the side of his head.

Kaz began to chuckle a little as he could smell the air, not really aware of where they were at, but knowing it was pretty disgusting. " You know, it smells pretty similar to home. " he blurted out, though he stopped talking once he saw red eyes and squeaking just ahead where they landed. " That doesn't sound good. " Kaz commented, it was hard to see at this point. A current of electricity flowed through his raised arm, lighting the area around him in a dim light. He let the light die out knowing it wasn't doing any good " Ah that won't do. " Kaz mumbled, there was a moment of silence then followed a loud slap, most likely he hit himself, a orange light glowed where his head was and fire erupted from both hands as it lit up a larger area, just around the group, unable to reach the rats. " That'll do! Alright you two, get moving. I'm not sure how many rats there are but we are in their territory. I don't hear any skittering behind us so lets go. " Kaz was, well, covered head to toe in shit and nasty water. He looked pretty unhappy now in their current situation, the fire from his hands burned so hot that both companions could feel its heat. The naive man now looked like a blood thirsty maniac, although he wasn't going to try and attack just yet, he didn't have intel. How many rats were there? How big were they? Are they fast enough to catch up to them if they try to run? These questions he didn't have answers for yet but assumed he would get momentarily before he made his move.

@The_Queer_Alien @Skyhunter
Kyrian took a little more time crawling through the secret tunnel, following Kaz and Kieran silently, trying to listen behind them in case of unwanted pursuers. He didn't hear anyone come after them, which was a relief. Being third person going through the tunnel had given him that extra second of time to react, as he was able to shift himself to the side, using the length of his body to slow his descent. Instead of going face-first into the sewer water, he went body first, sparing some of his face and feet of disgusting sewer water. The water may have smelled like shit, but he could breathe in it just fine. He felt filthy, and goddamn he hated this. If he didn't have magic, he would be much more upset at his disgustingly stained clothes.

"I know a spell for cleaning clothes and people, so when we get a chance I'll clean us up. Thank Kasm for his insistence on cleanliness. Are either of you hurt? This sewer water's going to give any one of you with cuts gangrene." Kyrian said quietly, checking himself over. His pouch of supplies had stayed dry and clean, but that had been the first major purchase he had made- a waterproof magical bag that repelled pretty much everything. That was when he heard the chittering- oh god damn it there were rodents down here with them. Using the bag's magical properties to wipe his hands clean as best as he could, he reached into his pouch to pull out his knife, making sure to close the bag securely to not let his other supplies become dirty. Then, he positioned himself so that he was between anything that would hurt them and Kieran, as he was someone with little fighting experience. He wasn't an animal linguist, sewer rodents weren't exactly known for their friendliness. There wasn't even time to think about Kaz needing to slap himself before battle, as of course they were in danger. They had "escaped" the Eldritch Knights to fall down into a sewer, potentially having to fight rats. Or be lead to their smart leader, who knew.

He looked around, gripping the knife with confidence and the ease that spoke volumes- that he had clearly used it to fight before.- ready to attack anything that came at them. He wasn't going to argue with Kaz on this point- he would run if Kaz started running or he would attack if something threatened him. He didn't want to harm the rats, but he was pragmatic man- and though Kaz checked way to many boxes on his concerning checklist, he would still do his best to protect him and Kieran. If there were too many...he would cast a spell that would increase their speed, hopefully enough to outrun anything that would be chasing them.

She'd been wrong about the goblin's involvement in all this, but she had a bit of issues figuring out what exactly he was proposing. The goblish accent, or whatever it was, didn't make it easy, to the point where she wondered if mind-reading the gobbo for the simple sake of figuring out what he was saying wouldn't be the smarter option. She decided to abstain, as his aid here spoke enough of his innocence. "It would be a particularly risky distraction strategy for a theft... If anything the punishment for attempted murder of nobility is a lot weightier than that for simple theft." She also wondered why Solon and this goblin both seemed convinced that a theft made the alarm go off, as a fleeing rascal running into something would be a likelier scenario, but she wrote it off as accidentally godmodded knowledge as paranoia on their end. She then shook her head. "Regardless, theft doesn't have my priority. Attempts to kill someone, nobility at that, are more important to investigate. Any information you think you can dig up is welcome."

With all that said and done, it was time to get her magic to fade. It had been a bit more effective than she expected it'd be, so she figured she'd try to slowly fade her hold on everyone (other than the thug, so that the dude could be properly caught first). That'd give them a chance to slowly calm down without instantly retorting to violence. She also silently cursed the scar-faced guy (Kaz) for agreeing to hold her suspect down, yet rushing off towards who-knows-where instead and almost causing another fight here. Either the dude had been tricking her or he had commitment issues. Neither option was any good.

In any case, she figured she'd go talk to the guys the Assistant Director sent her too; the guard in front the museum. Before she went there, however, she figured she'd try to involve her colleague (Solomon). "Would you mind backing me up, in case some of the suspects get any stupid ideas?" Neither of them had muscle or brawn to show off, but with Solomon being a walking incinerator, people were likely to be more cooperative.

Whether Solomon came along or not, she'd soon approach the guards. The fact that they hadn't even moved into the museum during all the commotion was a bit too suspicious, so she was on guard when approaching them. Had they been bought off? Were the under some spell? Were they simply dumb as a truck or lazier than a sloth? She wasn't sure, but she wouldn't take too much chances, so she remained at a bit of a distance when starting her conversation. "Excuse me, but I'd like to ask some questions."

The goblin gave a shrug at her words, his mouth curling into an apologetic smile as her words made wheels in his mind turn. "Ah've lots of dealings with y'all surface folks, met some clans that fancy a nickin' ta be more worrisome than a murderin', heck ah had to kill some o' me own mates cuz they's thunk stealin' mah loin covers wassa funny. Them's their last happy thoughts, am sure about that." His fangs flashed alongside his feral grin, but he hid that quickly because he didn't want another misunderstanding for looking like a hoodlum planning some mischief. Though her words did remind him again that most cityfolks don't take kindly to the murdering, or at least attempted, of their bigwigs. Something about lineage mumbo-jumbo that he took as glorified acts to put weight on a name, which he didn't fancy much because his axe and stories are all the weights he needs. He gave her a shrug though at the latter ends of their interactions as he thought back to that name they got from the poor sod that got left behind: Yeothal. He'd make sure to ask about that later, or maybe he'll just remember when he gets the time to sort his thoughts. Who knew what'll happen?

"
Don't much matter ta me, that noblewoman ah means but ah fancy helpin' with the case. Needin' more exercise these days. Gonna ask 'round for ya and yer friends, looks like y'all be havin' burnin' coals up yer knickers. Ah'll just 'ave a runner come along ta fetch ya or send ya if ah finds anything' o' worth. Can look fer the Cringin' Cockatrice if ya's ever wanna check up. Go on thens, do yer legal yammerins, ah'll be headin' out.", his throat was starting to feel parched, and a little bit of booze would surely inspire him with stronger thoughts. Speaking of, he quickly withdrew a bottle of rum from his bracelet as he walked off with a slight chuckle, chugging the booze as he watched the Eldritch Knights flitter about like geese. Though his eyes were also looking for that trio that included the bindlestiff (Kaz), because dingdongs like them would usually cause more problems than solve them. He'll need to knock some sense into their noggins next time he saw them.

It WAS rathe awkward that he and the Lady were going at the same direction even though he said his farewells, but he just focused on the bottle instead of the atmosphere. His ears quirked as they begun their inquiring, but he'd rather be at home right now with his loving family than with the stuck-up Eldritch Knights. He appreciated their concern for public safety and all, but he'd rather just punch someone until the truth shows itself. His thoughts were a flurry as he went along, disregarding any looks that foot sent at his direction as the warmth of alcohol and home filled his mind to settle everything into place.

Solomon nodded at verity's request and followed her to the front of the building to question the guards. As he walked with her, he turned his head to Gattas with a glare. While it may have looked like he was looking at the small warrior with malice or disdain, it was actually a look of curiosity as the sorcerer had never seen a goblin in person before. "Goblin," He said in a business-like tone. "You have the aura of a warrior enveloping your soul, if you stick around I will pay for your brutish services. It'll make this investigation much more easy if we have muscle to speed things along." He explained to the green skinned dwarf.

Once he and Verity make it to the guards stationed outside the front entrance, he followed up Verity's investigative statement with one of his own. "Know this, if either one of you lie to her, I will find out. Deception will not work on me." He punctuated the last sentence to make the guards understand the position they are in.

There are a plethora of ways of using magic to uncover the machinations of a lying schemer. Truth potions, a pendant of veracity, or a lie detection spell, though the latter did have a chance of not working since it relied on the subtle stimuli of the eyes and movements of the subject, rather than outright reading their mind. Unfortunately, the order did not allow the use of mind magic under any circumstances since it was deemed "a violation of privacy and of the human psyche." While many would agree with that benevolently moral statement, Solomon saw it as an obstruction that will only hinder the dispersion of justice. Those at the top of the hierarchy cared more about staying on their golden pedestals of righteousness, rather than allowing sorcerers to use every avenue of magic possible to maximize the effectiveness of their work. Oh how he loathed the anti magic sympathizers. The superstition of magic being evil and a crime against nature has been around since the inception of magic itself. And over the millennia it has engrained itself so thoroughly into the minds of many that the reputation of magic users in several parts of the world is highly scorned and heavily frowned upon. He didn't care how people viewed magic, he saw it for what it was, they key to understanding the universe and beyond.

Walking forward with his throat moistened, Gattas quickly froze when the bloke with the crackling personality called out to him. Squinting his eyes, he took another swig as he deftly plugged the bottle as he twirled it around, using the movement to keep the content stuck to the bottom of the bottle. "Ah like bein' recognized for what ah really am, but that don't mean ah'm some brute, least no more after ah moved 'ere. Pay ain't needed, it'd be nice if ya spokes of me place ta yer mates, wee bit o' marketin'. Can't stay long much, hafta scurry on home, but ah can spare a few minutes.", he nodded towards Solomon, as he paused briefly to watch their interaction with the guards that failed to guard. Looking scary and threatening, now that's a specialty he didn't expect to refine over years, but it seemed him acting normal accounted to being dangerous.

He stood there, a few steps behind the two highly-acclaimed Knights as he casually started doing some stretches. While he was at it he sneakily dragged his fingers along the small of his back, and beneath his clothes flashed a dim glow that was easily covered by the fabrics he wore. Slithering from his tailbone to his nape, a serpentine tattoo manifested without sound, and for a brief moment the predatorial hiss of a snake echoed from behind him, but he chose to disregard it in favor of looking inattentive. After the casual movements he stood there with a smile, waving his hand at the two guards that he believes should be familiar with his face, seeing how his tendencies to interact with "upper management" happen more often than not. Though, where yellowed and simple eyes now stare a pair of serpentine slits, a little side-effect whenever he prepared his dandy secondary weapon.

" Would you two move already! " Kaz yelled angrily as he enlarged one of the flames in his hands into a torso sized fireball, he then took a step forward and threw the oversized fireball towards the squeaking and glowing red eyes. As the fireball flew through the darkness, it created a small ring of flame around itself, looking almost like a disc around the large ball of inferno. As the fireball flew straight at the rats, it crashed into a unprepared oversized rat,, immediately incinerating it as the ball 'splashed,' causing flames to bounce into the air and rain down on other rats, lighting the area up more. Disturbing shrieks and screams came from other rats that caught on fire from the crashing inferno.

Although what Kaz saw was a ungodly amount of rats lingering down here in the sewers. He had many questions, like one. How the hell did they get so big! And two, why the fuck were there so many!? He couldn't even count how many he just saw. The red eyes didn't help with how many there were, and the screaming of rats aflame seemed to only anger the almost unending horde. Kaz took a deep breath after that attack. Using the other flame in his hand, he flung his arm across the air as a rain of hot flame came flowing down over the sea of rats, igniting the darkness around, hopefully they would create a wall of burning vermin to prevent them from being chased by the other healthy and not burning ones.

Kaz hadn't dealt with giant rats before back home, the types of wildlife he had to deal with was massive birds trying to snatch him from overhead, gigantic toads at the base of the mountain when he would go hunting and mantis' that lived on the mountain, catching unsuspecting prey, whether it be tribe members of all types, birds or even other mantis'. But this was somewhat foreign to him, especially in a compact and dark space like the sewers. He was more used to freedom and the open skies above him, which he could easily escape or fight in. Being stuck in, what he would call, a tomb put him on edge. He hated being stuck like this, stuck in darkness with a unknown enemy around him.

The on edge native grabbed both Keiran and Kyrian by their arms, maybe it was his adrenaline kicking in, but Kaz was able to easily drag the two away as he ran in the opposite direction, the only direction that didn't have screaming and dying rats. "
You fucking idiots! Move your ASSES! " Kaz roared throwing them in front of him as he sprinted away, the smell of burning bodies and clothing was in the air. The clothing was most likely Kaz' jacket smoldering from his own fire attacks. Kaz shot a small flame ahead of them to light the way, to see where they were going, it didn't go too far but it flew faster than they were running. Hopefully they would be able to find a exit.
