Pokemon: The Disappearance

Uhhhhhh I'm not sure if you're answering my questions but I think you are because you've quoted me but. okay.

-I don't understand how the answer to the question about move gain by leveling is a 'yes and no'; from what you said it sounds like a complete no? And also if the Pokemon learns moves by battling, which I assume you meant something in the lines of "Mawile was fighting with XX and then suddenly it can use Baton Pass!" which also rises the question of what is the condition to learning these new moves [e.g. by a GM's whim] and whether this is for any moves on their naturally learnable moves in that particular order, TM/HM/m.Tutor, or, again, on a GM's whim.

-Second question, I'm not sure why you suddenly talk about mega evolution when I specifically said type/movepool/status/etc. I mean sure mega evo could be considered there but I mean something like the addition of Fairy type, the certain moves which the Pokemon can learn that could not be learnt in D/P/P Generation and so forth.

tl;dr lemme attempt rephrasing my questions since obviously I made my questions not clear:
-Can I get the details on how the Pokemon learns new moves, what is the condition and whether there is a particular order or whether it's on GM's decision?
-Mawile is pure Steel or Steel/Fairy?

Thankies~

Oh, sorry. Misunderstood the question. For the battling I should have explained in more detail. A Pokemon has many ways to learn new moves. Training, certain items, genetic modfification, or having them battle. You can have your Pokemon attempt a move it hasn't learned yet which may fail, but provides the quickest way to learning it. Training can point out flaws and provides a calm environment, but under the stress of battle it fights against an actual foe thus giving reason to make it learn the move. Of course, it will require additional training or more attempt to perfect it.

As for creatures such as Mawile, there exists two types. The hybrid ones are all in possession of the Team just to make things more harder and how they obtained them is a thing swept under the rug. However, it is possible to obtain a hybrid. There's a few ways, but I would be spoiling surprises.

From what you said, at least if I understood right, I think you're reluctant to decide whether to have Mawile be pure steel [pre gen6] or Steel/Fairy [post gen6] due to some plot, so I'll leave it at that and completely ignore any type weakness/resistance that Mawile has, but that begs another question.

Mawile learns Play Rough and Fairy Wind from start for post-Generation six while it doesn't for pre-Generation six. So can Jamie's Mawile use Play Rough and Fairy Wind or no?

EDIT: after reading your post three times, I still am not sure what difference there is by hybrid pokemon and non hybrid pokemon except that one kind is scarce than the other. Sob.

Hybrids are later gen pokemon that got a type change into a hybrid in the later gens while non are simply the single types like Mawile. Therefore Mawile can be a steel type or a steel/fairy type.

So by that logic Jamie's Mawile will be Pure Steel and is unable to learn Play Rough / Fairy Wind since the current Team has all the 'hybrids' in possession, theoretically?

Yep, but it can be changed later on in the Rp if players do so wish.

Alright. I'm fine with pure Steel really, I just wanted to know.

Also @Jared post, is anyone working on that atm? If not I can whip up something along with my intro post.EDIT: ignore this, I didn't realize there were more posts in the IC.

I got a question. I dont have to keep my Pokemon in pokeballs do I? Like say when I go to catch another Pokemon and I want it to walk with me. And about evolution is there a way to keep a Pokemon at second stage without a everstone, like just not let it evolve

You don't, but you do need them for capture and when you have quite a few it can be a bit cumbersome. As for evolutions yea, you can allow it to stay in its second stage. Of course, the stones will be required.

And hurry! Somebody go rescue the person in distress!

I'M READING, I'M READING!

Also, I just learned that Gible learns Dragon Rage at lvl 7. I'd like to say that this was not intentional. I chose Gible for type, because teal is awesome, and Gible is adorable.

Gible would have to repeatedly use Dragon Rage in order to perfect it. Letting ya know!

Well if training is all it takes to learn an ability - like Ash's pikachu and Iron Tail - I guess that means that breeding moves and such from the normal games can be done like this as well?

It can learn an ability through training, even though it will take longer, or it can learn it in battle where it will be a bit sloppy. As for breeding, people have to get permission from your local officer, then get registered, and then you can breed. In our current situation we can do this, but once the Team starts hunting it is going to be much harder.

Also, I'm stripping the old battle system. In place of it, in terms of NPCs, send me a PM if you are about to battle a NPC. I'll tell you that NPC's difficulty, Pokemon, and possible things won. NPC pokemon will include difficulty, what kind of Pokemon, and its moveset.

No, I mean moves that can be learned through breeding. But that was more information that we needed as a group.

Random suggestion; since egg moves are moves inherited from their parents, maybe having it be moves that can be exclusively learnt by learning from other Pokemon that can use that particular move, or from breeding?

Also sob, how to roleplay Pokemon conversations in a 'show, not tell' way with their impaired limited speech...

Possibly both. As for the 'show, not tell' part, I just had Alex imagine what Rio might have said.

Edit: We can always have the Pokemon talk. It will just be that to humans it will be their species name or some other noise, but to the Pokemon they are talking. I recommend someway to differentiate Pokemon dialogue from human.

I've been busy...bleh will have 2nd char up tomorrow and another post.

History: Brandon was raised in a fairly average household, being the youngest of five children. Brandon has been taking care of himself he was sixteen years old, when he ran away from an abusive home after his older brother finally left for the Military. He is now one of the few students with a double major in Psychology and Forensic Sciences, with the hopes of become a forensic scientist and preferably work as a "Blood Splatter" specialist. His ADHD makes it difficult to focus on one particular thing at times and at others it gives his an intense laser focus that can cause him to forgo even the most basic of needs such as eating and resting.
