Cupie
Cupie snickered seeing him jump. Something about that tired sigh of his always made these conversations enjoyable; to an extent. Of course, if she actually bothered him, well she would have gotten the hint a long time ago. She was quick to down her snacks, wanting to get the first dance with Jet and not keep him waiting.
Hearing Masaru's comeback, she hmphed, "At least I can actually ask someone out if I really wanted to. Isn't that right Mister St-St-St-St-Stutters?" Cupie shot back, setting her plate into a bin where the rest of the dirty dishes went.
"Anyway, I'm happy you're here socializing instead of training all night. Have fun, okay? Enjoy yourself! Make some more friends!" Cupie turned to Jet, taking his hand into hers. "C'mon, let's go dance~"
As she led him away, she looked back at Masaru, "Don't forget to save me a dance too, power bottom~!"
With that, she looked back at Jet and smiled, "You know how to dance?"

Octavia
She smiled, highly doubting that K' was as boring as he said. She wondered if maybe she should join him in running (or flying) laps with him... maybe not running, for, uh, two big reasons. Octavia didn't want to "distract" him, so to say.
He started talking about his family, which she was more than happy to listen to. However, she felt K's body had dropped in temperature due to them being so close. Octavia looked a little puzzled, wondering what that could mean. His quirk was tied to his emotions, wasn't it? Considering all that happened and how fast his body temperature was to increase or decrease, it was safe to assume that that was the case. But what did a temperature drop mean?
His father... what?
Adopted?
Rescued...
What happened to K's biological parents? Had they died in the house fire?
This was definitely reaching sensitive territory, and she would certainly not ask to avoid overstepping boundaries. If K' was ever ready to tell her, then she would be more than willing to listen. For now, she was honored he felt comfortable around her enough to share his history with her.
Octavia listened to him as he told the story of his parents, and couldn't help but smile seeing the puppy dog look he gave her. "What's that look? It's adorable~ I promise I won't say anything. It's not my story to tell anyway." She assured him."But thank you for trusting me with this information. I really appreciate it."
At the question of her hobbies, Octavia tensed a little as she quickly tried to think of something to tell him. There was no way she was going to mention her fanfiction account; he might think her a loser or a creep for writing porn of people she now knew!
Fortunately, or unfortunately, Amaris approached her and requested to speak to her.
Despite the hints, Amaris wasn't going away...
Octavia sighed and was forced to acknowledge her.
...
She was angry with herself.
Why did she say that? Why couldn't she just walk away from a situation? Why did she have to be nice?
Well, so much for that... She would just have to suck it up and help Amaris. AS ALLIES.
Thankfully, she was able to use those moments away from K' to think of an appropriate answer to his questions.
Octavia looked to K' and smiled apologetically, "I'm sorry about that. To answer your question, I write stories, read books, and I dabble in Hero stuff from time to time. Sometimes I play video games too during my off time." She answered him. Of course, there was no way she was going to mention that Otome games and visual novels were her favorites.

Ichirou
With some light conversation, the first dance had come to an end, leaving Ichirou to decide what to do as Kanna went to do her own thing. He decided to go to the punch bowl and get a drink, quietly pondering what to do now...
With the song over and the dancing complete, Ichirou would walk with Killian to try and find Aurora. He hoped the conversations would go well and Killian would make another friend.

Ichirou
With some light conversation, the first dance had come to an end, leaving Ichirou to decide what to do as Kanna went to do her own thing. He decided to go to the punch bowl and get a drink, quietly pondering what to do now...
It was a little uncomfortable for Killian to be at the school's dance pretty much alone. He hadn't had much interaction with any of the students. He had talked to two, the panda and the ghost girl, and that was pretty much it. Although he did think about asking the Ayame to dance as a sort of half-serious joke. She did tell him to just dance whenever he was uncomfortable in their first meeting, but he had assumed that she had enough people to ask her out, at least he would expect someone who was as adorable as she was to have enough people asking. The reason that he didn't ask the ghost girl was much, much simpler… he was just still kinda scared of her.
Adding to the discomfort was the clothing he was supposed to wear, although he did make sure he liked the combination, it was still something very unusual for him to be wearing such fancy clothes. At least he got to add his own little bit of personality in the form of a pink shirt to contrast the vest, tie and pants which were all a relatively light grey. For the entirety of the event he had been sitting around, watching people laugh and dance and having a good time and while the second hand excitement was at least somewhat satisfying to him, it was still second hand.
'Well…' He thought to himself, 'I guess sitting alone near the wall is the inevitable end every introvert eventually faces, isn't it?'
...No… No, that couldn't be. That was no fun and that's what this was supposed to be, right? Fun. A fun social event for people to interact and forget about the daily pressure that every student experienced. Yet, he hadn't talked to a single soul yet. What was he doing there if he wasn't at least going to try to enjoy himself?
So, remembering what he had learnt from the one dance course his parents had forced him into a couple years back, he let his eyes wander from person to person, looking over everyone who was standing alone as well. Eventually his eyes stopped at another boy. Pale skin, silver hair, maybe three to four inches taller than him wearing a dark blue button up, a black tie, and a black vest with black pants to match, and not at all bad looking. Killian pulled all his courage together and walked up, 'Well… here goes nothing.'
"Hello there. Would… uh… would you like to dance?" Killian extended his hand a little to the other one after he finished speaking, this was how you were supposed to do this, right? And although he was trying his best to hide it, he was sure his anxiousness still showed plenty through his voice.
Ichirou had been left by himself for a bit while his date had gone and tended to her friends, which was fine by him. It gave him a little break to himself, and the opportunity to talk to people he hadn't had a chance of introducing himself to. Everyone present seemed to be having a good time and the chaperones (namely his mother), weren't being too intrusive. It had been a while since he felt so relaxed in an environment filled with people.
He took another sip of his punch, silently wondering what he should do. Ichirou could ask someone to dance right now, but who? A lot of the girls were no-gos due to them already having dates, he just finished dancing with Kanna, and the boys… he wasn't sure who would accept his invitation, much less be willing to dance with another boy.
Before he could dwell on the thought longer, one of his classmates approached him and asked him to dance. This person was one of the new transfers; pretty handsome if Ichirou had to say, and sounded like he had really fought himself to ask in the first place. Ichirou could really admire this person's bravery; this was also his chance to make a new friend.
He set aside his empty cup before smiling, taking the other boy's hand in his. "Of course."
Ichirou led the other person towards the group of people dancing, though he didn't take his partner into the crowd where they'd be surrounded by so many students. Instead, he took him off to the side of the dance floor where they would have breathing room. Once there, he guided Killian into their dance as he took the lead. He didn't know how well his partner could dance, so Ichirou decided to start with something easy and let the other take the lead if he wanted.
"Sorry but I haven't learned your name yet." Ichirou said to the other. He had heard of who this person was around the class, but they haven't really gotten to talk enough that Ichirou would know him by name and face.
"Oh, of course, sorry… Killian is my name, Killian Eisenschmied." He was still a little nervous. These kinds of things always happened when he tried to speak to someone he didn't know. This wasn't helped by the fact that the other boy was quite handsome. He was quite thankful that the other had pulled them a little off to the side, Killian was already anxious enough about dancing with someone else in general, this was just a sort of "worst-best-case" scenario to him, so he was relieved he at least didn't have to be in the midst of all the other students. Now that he had told him his own name, it also occured to Killian that he didn't know the name of his dance partner. Though he had definitely seen him in class.
"Uhm, speaking of names.... I don't think I can remember yours. Sorry, I'm terrible with names." Killian was now fighting back against his subconscious telling him how much of a mess he was being and just berating himself about his shyness in the back of his head.
"I'm a bit of a mess meeting new people, sorry. I hope I didn't snatch you away from anybody else just now, did I?" Eventually he just said the first thing that came to his mind. It wasn't a lie, meeting new people was usually quite hard for him at first and he could then often find himself stumbling over his own words and thoughts. Though he was trying his best at keeping that awkwardness of his at bay.
'It's not that hard, just have a nice conversation like you could have with your old friends back home, the only difference is that this is a different language… and that you don't know this guy… and that he looks good… oh god…' Killian whispered the end of his train of thought to himself, "Ich habe einen schlimmen Fehler gemacht."
Ichirou took a mental note of the other's name, figuring out quite quickly due to his grandmother's side that Killian was German. That was good! At least he could help the other feel more comfortable by speaking in his native language. Maybe they could have full blown conversations in German and the rest of the class would be left wondering what they were saying? That'd be amusing~
"I'm Ichirou Mizushima. A pleasure to meet you, Killian." He introduced himself with a kind smile. "Don't worry, you didn't. In fact, I'd been standing there at a loss about who I should ask to dance. Thanks for helping me out with that."
Now that introductions were out of the way, all that was left for Ichirou was to pave the way to friendship. Killian seemed really nice, albeit a bit nervous about… everything. Ichirou would do his best to help him relax, at least a little~
Though barely, he heard what the other said in German and understood it perfectly. Still he smiled. Should he? Shouldn't he? Killian said it in German probably believing Ichirou couldn't understand him, and he seemed so nervous as is…
Ichirou would let this slide, for Killian's sake. Maybe later he'll tell him he can speak German; when his partner was more relaxed.
"How are you liking UA so far? Our classmates?" He asked.
"UA is a little… overwhelming, honestly. I didn't even expect to get accepted, since I applied as a sort of half-serious joke. Otherwise… well, you can see how good I am at talking to people I don't know. I only know two people in class… and one of them … one of them honestly scares me. Oh, and I also don't really know any of the teachers here either…" Saying all this aloud for the first time really only made Killian really realize how much of an odd-ball he was in this school. Hopefully Ichirou wouldn't think badly of him for all of this.
He listened quietly, taking a mental note of the other's words. So Killian might need to talk to more people, and Ichirou could help him do just that! He could introduce him to the rest of the class and ease him into conversation; probably take it easy via one on one introductions. "That's understandable. I can help you meet the rest of the class if you want? All of the teachers are really nice, and I know a few people who would love to make friends." He assured the other.
If Killian said no, then introductions could come at a gradual pace.
"Well… I think as long as I don't have to run into a group of people head first. I suppose it might be alright, then." Ichirou seemed nice enough and if he volunteered to put up with his antics, then it would be rather stupid of Killian to say no, wouldn't it?
"I just hope you know what you are getting yourself into here. Don't tell me I never warned you later, alright?" Killian was already warming up at least a little bit. He might be able to get along with him.
Ichirou grinned, "No group introductions, I promise. You don't come across as a social butterfly anyway." He answered him. "Heh, that's fine by me. I wouldn't have agreed to dance if I didn't want to be your friend, you know?"
He thought of more questions, "Do you mind telling me about yourself? Interests, hobbies, whatever you want to tell me." Right now, Ichirou wanted to get more answers out of Killian and help him relax a little more. Maybe finding some common interests between the two could help the other warm up to him and get comfortable.
Killian was already happy about what Ichi had said, he could use some friends here and if he had at least one at his side, that couldn't hurt, yet he couldn't help but think: 'Und ab in die Friend Zone für mich… innerhalb der ersten viertel Stunde. Ein neuer Rekord.'
"About myself…? Well… I guess. I love music, all kinds of music. I'm a bit of a music nerd, actually, I love learning about new instruments. I play drums myself and as part of that I also learned how to play pretty much any percussion instrument as well as piano… and sometimes when I practice I'll sing to myself and along with what I'm playing. Other than that, I guess I really like video games. All kinds of those. Loved them ever since I was a little kid. There was always something relieving about being able to turn off for a few hours and just pretend I wasn't in this world but the hero of a different one." Killian was practically thinking out loud what kinds of things he liked, "Oh! And boxing too! I've always loved boxing ever since I started doing it." Killian did not even notice that as he was getting more loose and comfortable he was slowly getting closer and closer to Ichirou.
He listened, nodding a few times in acknowledgement to the information that was given to him. Ichirou was pleasantly surprised to hear just how much the two had in common, actually! There were plenty who shared his interests, sure, but it was always nice to meet someone who liked more than one thing he did.
"Hey, I do a few of those things too! I sing, play piano, and I love to play video games too. It would be great to hear you play or sing. The girl you fought in the tournament, she's one of my friends who loves video games too. If you want, the three of us could sit down and play together sometime?" He offered.
Surely Aurora wouldn't say no to being able to meet and play with a new person, right? She could be a little… overbearing, but at least Killian would be meeting someone else.
Ichirou realized that Killian was getting a little too close. Flashbacks to Kanna's aura caused a shiver of unease to roll up his spine, and he would rather not be attacked for getting a little too close to another person. He subtly took a step back to put a little bit of distance between their bodies; still close though a more appropriate gap between them.
"Did you fight in the ring as a boxer? Like for competitions? Or was it something you did as a hobby?" Ichirou asked to keep the conversation going. Killian was very nice and seemed to be warming up. Maybe once he was comfortable, Killian could find the courage to go introduce himself to more people? It took a lot out of him to ask Ichirou to dance, but would Killian be willing to gather more of that energy to say hi to a small group of students?
"Oh right… Aurora… I keep forgetting that that was her name. I'm just as terrible with names as I am with people. I… uh, don't think she likes me that much. Because I didn't really want to compete in that tournament. I don't like fights like these were the only real rules are 'No killing'. Maybe that's a bit of the clichéd german shining through in me, but I like rules, they usually make things much easier. Plus… she is kinda… how do I put this? … Beklemmend … I can't think of the word. Scary I suppose, though, it's not exactly what I mean." He was still unsure about that girl. He had seen her around a couple of times and thought about talking to her, but couldn't help but figure she thought badly of him.
"I used to fight in competitions occasionally. I was state "champion" of my weight class about two years ago. I never thought of doing it professionally, though if my nose is any indicator. I am apparently pretty good." Many boxers, even at his age, already had a slightly displaced nose from catching a punch or two too much with their face, he on the other hand still hadn't even gotten a black eye once. Of course, fighting with quirks was a lot different from boxing competitions.
"And I usually don't play for others and rather just for myself… I never really thought I was good enough to really play for others, but if you really want I can show you. I won't promise to be able to work up the courage to sing though. Some people that listened in on me when I thought nobody could hear me used to tell me that I'm alright, but I really don't think so…" He admitted to him.
"I would also like to come with you and Aurora to play a bit… I just… I don't know about her. She really didn't seem to like me at all."
"Hey, believe it or not, Aurora hasn't said anything bad about you." He couldn't help but chuckle when Killian called her "frightening," but he couldn't really blame his partner. "It's okay if you think she's scary. You're not the first person I've heard call her that, and I'm sure you definitely won't be the last." Ichirou just hoped he wouldn't say that to Aurora's face seriously… Then again, Aurora may not mind it too much. She was an odd box, that one.
To be honest, Killian hadn't really come across as the championship boxer. His demeanor said he was shy and easygoing, and yet here he was talking about beating people up in the ring. On top of that he was good enough to leave his fights mostly unscathed.. It was interesting! Ichirou was enjoying learning more and more about Killian; maybe to the point of establishing a new friendship!
Now, Ichirou was curious regarding Killian's potential with musical instruments and his singing voice. A lot of people usually thought they weren't doing good at something they were excellent in. Singers often think they're not as good as others think, artists not drawing something well when others think it's a masterpiece, anyone who played instruments being told they're really good when they think they're off. It was common among creators, so Ichirou would have to play eavesdropper one of these days and listen for himself just how good Killian really was.
"I'd love to hear you play." He could compare the differences between playing in front of someone and playing alone, "As for Aurora, I really doubt she dislikes you. Like I said, she hasn't expressed any illwill towards you, hasn't said anything bad about you, and I'm confident she's gotten over whatever she might have been upset about. Aurora's not the type of person to dislike someone just like that. Hell, Cupie can be pretty rude sometimes and Aurora still seems fond of her." He assured the other. Since Killian had been nothing but kind and respectful, he doubted Aurora would hate him as much as he thought.
"But hey, if Aurora scares you that much, you don't have to hang out with her. It's your decision to make."
"I'll take you with me once I go into the music rooms again, then. Then you can listen a little." Killian answered, now with a happy smile on his face.
"And if you are so sure about her, then I'll trust you with that. I just really hope you are right… I'd rather make a friend than an "enemy", especially with someone like her." He said happily. This would be great, he would get to meet new people and hang out with Ichirou as well. If he could introduce him to the people in class then it would be much easier to get to know them, because then he was hopefully not as awkward as he would have been.
"I feel like we've only been talking about me this entire time. Maybe I should ask you some questions as well?" Killian stopped and thought for a second, "What kinds of music are your favorite? What kinds of games do you - and Aurora too - play together? Tell me a little about yourself." He figured he'd start with the basics and ask more questions later. For now this would suffice.
Ichirou noticed that Killian seemed a lot more relaxed now; the nervousness in his voice was gone, and the scared demeanor he had looked to have faded away. He hoped that his dance partner and new friend could keep that energy for the rest of the party. But that may be asking a bit much.
Now it was Ichirou's turn to talk more about himself. Okay! Hopefully he didn't accidentally bore Killian away.
"Music huh? Well…" Ichirou grinned, unable to feel a little bit embarrassed, "Okay, so. Growing up my mom had a lot of weird taste in music. Dark synthwave kind of stuff; the things you'd hear at a gothic futuristic rave. Aside from the usual rock and anything with a catchy beat, I'm listening to that too. Games, I play a lot of first person shooters, some platformers, RPGs, and especially horror games. I tend to stay away from visual novels and those romantic simulator kind of games. I appreciate the work that goes into it, but it's just not for me."
Mostly, it was because he felt those games targeted a very specific type of audience, one that he wasn't a part of. He just didn't get the appeal of it, but wouldn't judge someone who liked it.
"What about you? What kind of games do you play?"
He knew for a fact Aurora would love this guy if he liked first person shooters.
"I've always been in love with RPGs and strategy games. My favorites are Metroidvanias though, I live and die for those. Surprise, surprise, I was never one for multiplayer games. I guess I'm ok at shooters? I never really played them actively, but I was always ok with losing in a game, so I used to play those with some friends back home and they'd wipe the floor with me. Horror though…" Killian chuckled a little, "I really don't do well with horror… at all. I am a super scaredy cat, I start to scream and sometimes even cry and I get nightmares from the simplest things… Horror really isn't for me." He admitted.
"Say…" Killian began as if to ask a question, and he did want to, there were loads of them flying around in his head, but he couldn't make up his mind as to what he was supposed to ask at all, so eventually he just went with the first thing that came to mind.
"You don't happen to have a girlfriend, do you?" He just blurted that question out. 'This is exactly why I do not trust you with making conversations, Killian! Volltrottel!' He said to himself in his head.
Some differences in tastes gaming-wise, that was fine. He seemed to like RPGs and strategy, so Ichirou could ask him about his favorite titles. He hadn't played many strategy games, but now would be a good time to pick up on some. Maybe Killian would be happy to play some Bomberman 2 with him and Aurora one day-
What?
Ichirou paused in his thinking, realizing what Killian had just asked him. A subtle blush on his cheeks from not just the question but the suddenness of it.
In the end, he smiled. Now he was mainly trying to relieve the two of them of a potentially awkward situation.
"Not officially, no. But I did come to the dance with someone." He reminded the other, still smiling, "I'm flattered you asked, but I'd rather not got in trouble with her. And don't worry I'm not bothered you asked in the first place or anything, okay?" Ichirou assured him. No one taught Ichirou how to properly deal with these types of situations, and he didn't want to completely ruin a blossoming friendship.
"I hope you're not mentally beating yourself over that." A part of Ichirou thought that maybe Killian might be calling himself an idiot or something.
"I- that-" Killian was fumbling over his words, he could feel that his face had gotten much warmer than it was before, his ears and cheeks were likely beet red. Eventually he stopped trying to press out some half-assed flustered apology and just sighed. If it would be possible for his consciousness to gain human form, it probably would have hopped out of his body and smacked him in the face right about now.
"Sorry," 'alright, good enough start.', " I just- Sometimes my head can't keep up with what my big mouth is spewing out… and then something like this happens. Really, sorry." He forced a smile on his face again. He was just going to take the other one at his word and not think into it too much. If he said it was alright, then it was alright. These were the times when Killian wished he had been born as a stupid child, so his mind wouldn't automatically think into every single word someone said.
Killian also made a further mental note that, he didn't just ask a friend to come with him, but was likely already taken or at least trying to get into a relationship. Bummer. He had hoped for the opposite to be the case, but at least this way he didn't have to embarrass himself trying to awkwardly flirt with someone.
"It's an automatic thing that my mind beats me up over things like this." He admitted to Ichirou, maybe letting him know that he was also more than just a little embarrassed by what he had just done helped his case at least a tiny bit, "I was never that much of a smooth talker… as you can see… guess that also never helped me get any better at all."
"And, uhm, if you are here with someone else… should, uh, should I bring you back to them?" Killian wasn't just trying to be nice and polite now. He also just wanted to offer Ichirou a way to get away from him if he wanted to. Killian really couldn't blame him if he did, conversations with him were usually already uncomfortable enough, this was just the pinnacle of his lack of any semblance of charisma or understanding of how humans and conversations work.
Ichirou gently shook his head, "There's no need for apologies; all you did was ask a question and I answered. Nothing bad about that."
One again, he was doing his best to let Killian know that he didn't do anything wrong or bad. Sure automatically saying something like that could cause problems depending on the person, but Ichirou was technically single since he and Kanna weren't officially dating, so there was no reason for anyone to be upset. Killian would be fine, and Ichirou still wanted to be friends with him. Maybe more reassurance? Ichirou really did still want to be friends with Killian, and wouldn't let a blurted out question ruin that.
"Hmm, after this song. I still wanted to ask you more questions though; like your favorite game titles. Once this song is done we can find Aurora here and maybe set up a plan for the three of us to do some gaming, if you're still interested."
"Uhm… alright. Yeah. That sounds good. I hope we don't disturb her though." Killian said, briefly letting his vision swoop through what he could see of the room to try and find her. No luck so far.
"It'll be okay." Ichirou assured him, knowing that the way to find Aurora was to find either Ayame, Shizui, or harassing Kanna in some way regarding him.
With the song over and the dancing complete, Ichirou would walk with Killian to try and find Aurora. He hoped the conversations would go well and Killian would make another friend.
