Lea gave a triumphant grin when her nails reached skin, and that too, breaking through skin. She could smell the blood, it was tantalizingly close, and for a moment she wanted to go after it instead of stopping Kohana from pinning her down. She came to her senses quickly enough, however. She moved her free arm away from the werewolf before changing her mind. Her speed was fast enough that she grabbed Kohana's wrist instead. Now they were both caught.

"Y'know," the vampire said with a wicked grin, "I really think y'do like me." She jerked her knee upward, trying to catch Kohana in the back. At the same she pulled the wrist she had in hand and brought it to her mouth, grabbing on to it with her teeth, not breaking through skin, but the threat was still there. Lea knew she wouldn't draw blood, but no one else did.

(Kinda appropriate that I wrote this listening to Loca by Shakira lol)

Instead of grabbing the free wrist as intended the werewolf had managed to get her own wrist caught. At least for now the assault with those nasty claws had ceased. Kohana didn't know what Lea was about to try next and it put her on edge as she attempted to jerk herself free. The blood on her wrist trickled down and a small drop landed on the vampire below, most likely pretty tempting.

Looking down Kohana noted Lea's wicked grin, the gesture making her skin prickle without her control. If Kohana was in wolf form her ears would have flattened at the vampire's comment. Of course she didn't like the vampire anyway, even despite the charm and the dangerous attractiveness. Such traits could be ignored for now and concealed with the mistrust Kohana was taught to feel. Before she could challenge the comment a knee was brought into her back, jerking her forwards so she was doubled over Lea's torso and much closer than she would have liked.

Before Kohana could move away Lea had grabbed her wrist with her fangs, not yet puncturing. The werewolf froze where she was and snarled, deciding two could play at this game. Moving closer to Lea's pinned arm Kohana rested her own fangs on the girl's flesh, placing them in a standstill. The tension was evident and their closeness too great to ignore.

Lea had once more been distracted by the blood that she could now smell on herself. She wanted it now, she could practically taste it, warm, delicious, life giving... the pressure of her fangs increased on Kohana's skin... And then, she flinched, eyes widening. She hadn't expected that Kohana would fall on her. For a moment she was strangely flustered herself, feeling the obviously female werewolf against herself. It was a little strange, her heart hadn't actually thumped this quickly any other time a guy or girl was so close to her.

And then she heard the snarl, and such thoughts were gone with the wind.

Her eyes shifted to look to her own wrist, where she could now feel fangs against her own skin. Well s***, she thought to herself, seeing that the werewolf had used her own tactic against her. What now? She knew that biting wasn't allowed, but would Kohana abide by this rule when her dislike for vampires was more than obvious? Dammit... Lea didn't want to be the one who let go first. She also felt that a wolf's bite was nastier than a vampire's, and she wasn't about to test that theory on herself. Sighing inwardly, she moved her mouth away from Kohana's wrist, though her hand kept a hold.

The closeness was making Kohana's face grow hot, something that rarely occured in a brawl. She blamed it on heat from exertion. For a fleeting moment she wondered again if Lea was going to make any jabs about this position later or if she'd keep that big mouth of hers shut.

Pleasure and relief ran through Kohana's system when the vampire ceased holding her with the fangs, breaking the stand off. The vampire had caved first, something she may tease the girl for later. A moment after Lea pulled her mouth away Kohana did the same, although still holding Lea's wrist. Now she attempted to yank herself free from Lea's surprisingly strong grip on her wrist.

Lea was rather relieved as well when the fangs were off of her wrist. She really hadn't been sure if the werewolf would let go, which made sense, seeing they still didn't really know much about each other. She was just about to wonder what to do when she felt Kohana trying to pull her arm away from her. Now there was no way she could let that go, could she? Or should she, and instead try to free herself from Kohana's hold?

She didn't let go, and instead jerked her hips up, pushing against Kohana both from her lower half as well as the wrist she was holding, trying to move her to the side so that she could at least be on top rather than the bottom.

(lol I see this failing bad XD)

If Kohana's hands were free she could have maintained her balance, but none were and Lea had both pushed and jerked her away. So the werewolf fell on her side and tried to scrabble up as best as she could while still latched onto Lea's wrist with her hand and still trapped in Lea's own tight grip.

Kohana hadn't expected Lea to try a move like that and she certainly didn't expect to have rolled off. Mentally she lamented and wished she wasn't holding back. If she wasn't she'd be more willing to try releasing Lea's wrist and reigning down punches. This was avoided since no bones were to be broken. Also, it wasn't wise to riddle her partner's face with bruises since that wouldn't look good for her to be beat that badly. Such a condition could warrant punishment, whether it be at the hands of the instructors, Fergus, or even Lea herself. The slyness of the vampire worried her and the last thing she wanted was to be wounded while asleep or something or humiliated at a later date. So for now Kohana stuck to grappling instead of kicking and punching.

Hell yeah, Lea thought to herself triumphantly when she felt she had knocked Kohana off of her. She was however not too pleased to discover that the werewolf still had a hold of her wrist! It was getting a little infuriating. If this had been Sven, she would have simply bit into his hand until he let go; she had done it plenty of times. However, he would let her go; she was sure Kohana would have plenty of offense to give if Lea left a tooth mark on her.

Why wasn't she hitting her?! Lea had been so sure that the first thing she'd get was a sock in the face, or at the least in her gut! She lifted a knee, trying to get Kohana again, but ended up missing. Dammit, she thought to herself before letting go of Kohana's wrist, quickly trying to throw another punch to the werewolf's shoulder.

After Lea released Kohana's wrist the werewolf released Lea's wrist in turn. The punch to the shoulder caused a burst of dull pain, but Kohana disregarded it. Fueled with a new anger Kohana rose to her feet quickly and began to circle lea threateningly, aiming to strike uncertainty to allow a decent attack. Her movements were fluid and her body was lowered, head hardly moving as her bright amber eyes were trained purely on the vampire. The way she moved was predatory and more fitting for an animal. Rumbling in her chest was a low growl, very unlike the sound you'd expect the human looking girl to make.

Kohana was angry that Lea had confused her emotions and had even made her withhold the brunt of her pent up violence and now wished to pick things up a bit. The circling had given lea plenty of time to get to her own feet so Kohana was now examining the girl for any preferable points to attack. While Kohana would have thrown a hard punch to lea's face, she was not brawling with a werewolf or other beastly opponent that could handle such force. A hard hooked punch could knock the vampire flat on her feet, making the fight unfair and over too soon. To combat this issue Kohana settled on a slap, still swinging hard and aiming to make the impact knock the girl back. If it missed Kohana was prepared to pursue instead of back off.

Carefully Susana weaved her way through the battles, Malek doing the same. Now as Susana approached Malek she was focused on Kohana and Lea's brawl, and had been for a while. "These two already amuse me. That petty rivalry doesn't cover up the fact that they are totally holding out on each other here. I find it sort of cute," she chuckled to her partner.

Lea had managed to scramble up indeed, feeling rather tense and out of place as she was circled by Kohana. She didn't like the feeling, in fact, it really pissed her off. She was the predator, not the prey! She was the one who stalked her prey unknowingly and killed them before they even knew what was happening! Yet here it was the opposite. She almost felt as if all eyes were on her, probably laughing, seeing a vampire look like a stalked lamb, unable to decipher what move her opponent was about to make!

And what the hell was with the with the growling? Was her partner pissed off, or was it just a scare tactic? Lea was losing focus, and she didn't like it. This was why she had never been interested in close combat and stuck to the shadows. The spotlight was only fun when everyone was having a fun time... or well, at least she was.

So distracted and unprepared Lea was, that she didn't even see the slap coming. It hit her quite had on the side of her face as well as a bit of her ear. The force as well the momentary lack of balance had Lea stumbled back, swaying a little before falling on her rump, holding a hand to the side of her face. She was seeing stars for a bit, still trying to figure out what had just happened.

Malek couldn't help but chuckle as he heard Susana's words. "You have a good eye as usual," he said in agreement. "Well, I'm sure they'll eventually get over their differences, it always happens." And if it didn't, that was just a loss.

Satisfiyingly, the oppenent was sent reeling backwards before collapsing from the disorientation. It was a success in Kohana's mind, although she was almost upset that the fight seemed pretty one sided, even if Lea had managed to push her over at one point. Kohna reassured herself by thinking she'd do much, much better if she allowed herself to punch, kick, strangle, or bite. Feeling sort of dissapointed with her inabiliy to display all of her skills, the werewolf hoped that there were other tests to better present her abilities. Throwing around a lesser off oppenent wouldn't look good even if it may have proved to be satisying.

Just to continue the brawl Kohana rushed forwards and attempted to tackle Lea, aiming to pin her back on the ground. More attention was paid to stunning the vampire enough to pin her wrists on the ground this time. It would be wise of Kohana to show the best of her talents in the close combat or swordplay tasks since she didn't want to draw anyone's attention to her inability to successfully use a bow or other ranged weapon.

"If they don't get over it soon enough, you can trust I have ways of making them cooperate," Susana replied with a twitch of a grin before her usual hard expression replaced it. The vampire took a look over the brawling werewolf and vampire before turning to look at other newbies.

"Oh, I know that," Malek replied, chuckling a little as he recalled how Susana had dealt with others like the new werewolf and vampire recruits. "See you in a bit then." He raised a hand and gave a wave by wiggling his finger. Thereafter, he started walking once more, though it was as smooth and easy as a slithering snake, just like his species implied.

Meanwhile, Lea was just coming to the realization that once more she was pinned to the ground, and this time by both of her wrists. All the cuss words in the world weren't enough for her at the moment; she was feeling humiliated, and the throbbing feeling that continued because of the slap just made it worse. She felt as if this wasn't just about the brawl, the werewolf was singling her out for this punishments. Dammit! What the f*** did I do to her?! Did her insinuations or general annoying attitude get the werewolf this pissed?

An angry sound escaping her, Lea once more tried to use her legs, jerking her knees up, wanting to catch the werewolf somewhere, send her flying back. She was no longer in a joking mood, it seemed. She also brought her head forward, hoping maybe to knock noggins.

Susana bid a brief farewell to Malek and headed over nearby to see a scrawny looking bird shifter female and a beefier male horse shifter. The two seemed to be making a game out of this with Mark shoving the smaller girl around and watching as she darted around and dished out precise jabs, always quick to back away. Their styles were so very different from another's, making the fight drag on as they grunted and laughed.

Most of Kohana's sudden anger had been caused by her frustration. She was frustrated at Lea for her race and charm and frustrated at herself for beginning to fall for the girl. In order to distance herself and replace more intricte emotions with violence, the werewolf was particuarly feisty. Luckily the pinning had been quite successful, but the vampire would not go down easily.

The legs battering against Kohana were tolerated and recieved winces, nothing unlike what she had suffered in the slave arena or when rough housing with pack members. However, the headbutt was not taken as easily and knocked her head back so that she lost her grip on one wrist. For a moment she was dazed and struggled to regain her senses as she maintained a grip on Lea'a other wrist and remained atop her.

It was becoming increasingly frustrating for Lea when the attack she was giving with her knees didn't help any, so she was more than happy when the second attack worked. Yes! Lea didn't know she'd be so pleased to see Kohana knocked back a little. The grip on her wrist was gone, she had a chance for freedom! This time she wasn't going to botch it. She couldn't! She had been humiliated enough! It was strange, the vampire had never felt such determination before.

Unlike the first time, their closeness wasn't making her flustered. Her heart was already beating quickly, but it was due to the need to win, or at least prove that she wasn't just a damn pushover! If Kohana thinks she is the alpha, then she better learn that I'mma topple her!

The voice in her head simply laughed at her.

She bared her teeth for a second before her free hand shot forward, grabbing at the front of Kohana's shirt, attempting to pull her close before shoving her away with some force. She didn't know if it would work, but her assaults with her knees weren't working at all.

To say the least Kohana had been surprised when her shirt was yanked. the tanktop was balled up in lea's fist in one moment and then in another she was being thrown. To avoid potentially dislocated either her wrist or Lea's Kohana was forced to released her grip on her tight grip on the vampire's other wrist. With a thump she hit the ground and was quick to roll and throw herself to her feet with another small grunt of excretion.

Now Kohana wore a smile again as she faced off with her partner, body lowered and hands readied at her sides. "Ah, so now you're alive and moving. Maybe we can have ourselves a real right now," Kohana taunted, throwing another challenge. It was only the werewolf way to constantly demand responses from the opponent while potentially throwing them off a bit.

After the verbal jab was thrown a physical one soon followed and Kohana aimed to hook a kick behind one of Lea's legs, beginning to become more warmed up by the brawl.

Lea had been hoping that the fight would be over by now. They were warm enough, weren't they? Letting out a breath she quickly scrambled to her feet, breathing a little heavily as she moved back, seeing Kohana was up and back at it. And... she was smiling. That smile! Why couldn't it be there at any other time? Why did she had to be vocal now?

The confidence that Kohana was feeling was obviously absent from Lea. She knew that if she had had such a hard time before, then now would be even worse. But there was no way that she could call it quits. She didn't even know if it was a possibility, to simply give up, since this was just a workout to get them warmed up!

She glared at Kohana's taunt, gritting her teeth and clenching her fists so tightly that her nails were piecing the skin of her palms. Later in the day, she would probably realize it was best to get rid of the long nails. Right now, she couldn't even feel the stinging in her hands.

The jab had made her lose a little focus, so that Kohana's kick caught her in the calf. She stumbled but didn't fall, instead bringing her head down and throwing a punch at the werewolf, trying to catch her anywhere.

Now Kohana never wished to quit fighting, nor did the prospect come to mind. In a battle she became preocupied on the movements and the thrill of them rather than when it was deemed complete or not. Brawling in such a form almost devolved her mental awareness and allowed her wolf side to seize control. You'd think the werewolf was addicted to pain, and maybe she was. The strain of muscles, the pulsing of her heart, the heavy rising and falling of her chest, and the collection of perspiration only made her feel more alive.

The extreme tenseness in Lea's hands was noted carefully. The maintaining of balance of Lea's part was not expected so the head bursting forth nearly collided with her. The punch met a shouldet and impacted, landing more dull pain on Kohana's durable body. That would probably leave a bruise, but she didn't mind such marks since they were proof of her tolerance to what life through at her. Just like the scar across her eye.

Now Kohana lunged forth, pushing off of a strong leg and opening her arms in a grasping fashion. She attempted to catch Lea in a headlock of sorts, feeling in a rougher mood.

Susana looked all around her, letting them begin to finish up their fights. To amuse herself and others she quietly instructed somr pairs to stop, leaving the most passionate to be unconsiously watched by their peers. Among the last three fighting pairs was Kohana and Lea of course. Abby was beaming at them and grinning like an excited fool, tapping one o Mark's thick, sweaty arms to get his attention.

The strange thing was that while Lea's head butt and punch worked, the vampire wasn't really feeling any joy anymore. This was becoming tedious for her, making her feel frazzled and no longer sleek and in control, as she usually felt. This wasn't her style, and she was beginning to hate it now. An angry sound escaped her when she stumbled back as Kohana caught her in the headlock. She struggled to get the werewolf's stronger arms away from her. She couldn't believe she was stuck in a damn headlock!

She tried to push her shoulder against Kohana, even trying to elbow her in the stomach, though it was hard in her position. In her last attempt to be free, she lifted a foot and tried to slam it down on Kohana's foot, hoping it would work to a degree. The pressure around her neck wasn't fun and she knew she looked like a fool.

Malek had finished his rounds and joined Susana, a hand to his chin as he and quite a few of the other newbies were watching Kohana and Lea. His eyes turned on Abby for a moment, chuckling at her excitement. He had seen the warm-up she and the larger male had had, and he had to admit they had a rather odd partnership that seemed to be working great already. He wasn't sure he could say the same for the werewolf and the vampire though.

"Hm, they seem to be much more serious than I first thought," he commented to Susana, a foot tapping against the ground. "Perhaps a little too serious?" He chuckled. "Reminds me of our first brawl." A teasing look came in his eyes. "It sure was fun slithering away from your attacks."

Susana waved off Malek's concern. "I'll step in if it gets nasty," she assured idly, focused on the brawl unfolding before them. She could tell that the vampire's strong suit wasn't close quartered fighting, especially judging from the bow and arrows that had been discarded among the other rookies' weapons. However, both opponents seemed to be just testing the water so in a different scenario perhaps the vampire would perform better. As for the werewolf, it was clear this was her element. Even so, there was quite the lack of discipline it seemed. This would change soon enough.

Brought back to the present by her partner again, Susana made a scoffing sound in her throat and rolled her eyes. "You were a slick bastard from the start, that's for sure," she grumbled, although in good humor. She would never forget their first brawl and the sheer frustration it brought her when she discovered her opponent was very sly. The hopelessness could be related to what she was now witnessing in the newbie vampire.

The frantic elbowing was taken in stride by Kohana and she didn't budge much. It was the foot being brought down that made her flinch aggressively, the arm around Lea jerking up before losing some of its initial strength. In frustration Kohana allowed a short growl to escape, trying to shift so that her feet were not as easy to stomp on again.

After the last few fights died down, Susana decided it was time to move on. With long strides she approached the last too fighters. A hand grabbed on the back of Kohana's neck firmly, yanking her away. For a moment she resisted, but upon realizing who was willing her to cease Kohana snorted and released the headlock. "Cool it. you two. You'll need that strong fight in you for the rest of today's ordeals,"Susana said with the remnant of a grin as she looked between the two new soldiers. Something told her these too would prove to be interesting characters in the newbie mix.

  • Nice Execution!
Reactions: Greenie
Malek chuckled a little. It was fun to tease Susana about their 'good ol' days', knowing he had really been a bit of a slick bastard and something of a prick as well. He was no longer like that, of course; well, perhaps he'd always be a bit of a bastard. However, not with his partner; he owed her after all. A person couldn't really last here unless they got along well with their partner. Not in his opinion, and he knew his counted for something, seeing he was an instructor.

He watched placidly, leaving the intervention to Susana. It was amusing to watch, seeing these two fight. With the difference that they were both females, he was reminded of himself. Well, enough of memory lane for now. The two were separated, the werewolf clearly not happy about it at first. They would learn eventually, or they would go. Too much was going on in the world for soldiers who cared more about their pride than of the whole.

Lea stumbled back as she was finally let go of, eyes red and watery, coughing slightly as she rubbed her neck. There was a glare on her usually cheerful face that look rather out of place there. Her face was rather hot and red as well, especially when she realized that everyone else's fights were over and they had been watching her and Kohana. Every single one of them had seen her humiliated and unable to pull herself from a headlock. Not only that, she knew that this would not be forgotten by her squadron, especially Kohana. For once, the attention seeker wished she could disappear.

As Kohana stood there, sides heaving lightly with effort to regain her breath, she noticed that everyone had been watching. While she should have been proud, she felt as if she could have presented better skill if given the opportunity. Even though Kohana believed she could have done better, at least the other soldiers had seen her trap Lea and essentially claim victory in the brawl. Perhaps they'd respect her from having spectated the feat. It would certainly protect her from future harassment.

On the other hand, now people may harass Lea for the loss. While Kohana may hold the small victory over the vampire's head for a while, mocking was only acceptable for her to participate in. As much as the thought brought her grief, Kohana was in this whole situation with Lea. They were partners and had to cooperate and protect one another. A slight on one of them was a slight on both. If anyone dared think little of her partner, than that made Kohana herself look bad, which was unacceptable. The victory of humiliating Lea was short lived since now Kohana may have to deal with fending off the teasing remarks of some of the other rookies. They'd regret picking on the vampire, that was for sure.

One look at Lea had made Kohana feel even worse. The vampire looked very upset now. Even if her race deserved to suffer for their injustices against werewolves and even though Lea was annoying, the girl didn't deserve to be singled out like that. However much Kohana tried to justify her defeat of Lea, it left her feeling bitter. As she took her place near Lea's side, she offered a brief smile and a sympathetic look as if to say, 'tough luck, kid.' It was the closest thing to an apology that she'd give.

Susana took her place in front of all of the rookies again, standing near Malek. "Now that you're all nice and warmed up, how about a nice relay race. Before I explain, each partner must join another duo to make a group of four," Susana began.
