What Akane saw was a human. At least the shape was the only thing it had in common with an average western human. As for the rest... a smooth silver-skin with purple patches where human joints would have been and a lack of a face. No, that wasn't quite right. Maybe it simply showed its back to her? But no way to know for sure unless checking the other side. All in all, however, it was certainly not as scary as the mouth-monster except the twitching...?

It was a hard phenomenon to describe. A gamer would easily compare it to something like a 30-fps-locked game suddenly running on 120 fps. But ultimately, the thing simply moved head and joints in small bursts of motion here and there. So hard to follow with the eye in fact that it left quickly fading mirages of where whatever part of its body had just been.

Nonetheless, Akane had set her mind on it. This time, she wouldn't run... right away anyway. She couldn't know where the front or back of the thing was, anyway, but if there was one thing she was sure about that clearly its weak-spot must have been the head! With sneakingly fast steps, Akane went closer.

A good smack, a low, distorted growl in response. Akane quickly turned around, a simple rush to the exit, and... out! It likely had cost all her courage to do what she had just done and, once again, the girl felt like running away. As fast she could, not even thinking twice upon checking the results of her courage!

The girl ran maybe 5, 10 meters, before suddenly, literally in the blink of an eye, a big yellow eye replaced most of her vision! Her body ran into it. Like into a concrete pillar, stumbling back in pain.

C9H9NO3

There it stood, once again. Right in front of her. The monster from just mere moments ago. This time, however, its smooth-silver-skin head had actually a big, big, eye taking most of the space. Clearly the front. It had its posture lowered, staring at Akane as the noise continued. The twitching continued. It continued and continued and continued and oh my god was it raising an arm towards her as well!?

What would Akane do? What could Akane do!?
@Ehb @Luma
A moment of heroism. A light in the darkness. A twist of fate.

If this had been a TV show like Politelight, everybody would have cheered for Sasara! The heroine transformed and took center stage! Except... she did not. A comedy relief? A plot twist? Unexpected nonetheless.

There was certainly not another miracle. Another button to push. Actual Magic to cast. Ultimately, Sasara used her weapon rather bluntly, and the poor staff was destroyed.

It was only thanks to Snowball's quick reaction that kept Sasara from death a second time. Making the monster taste all kinds of new things as it went 'Ablublublu' upon the Soda bubbling in its mouth. A strange taste for something alien like that indeed. It bought the two enough seconds that they quickly hid inside a book-store, a now very angry mouth-monster rushing after them!

Bang Bang Bang

The horror scenario quickly felt like a zombie flick as Snowball kept holding the door, the monster rapidly banging against it. As, very slowly, the wood started to crack. The hinges started to yield. Only a question of time until...

Bang Bang Bang

Another kind of bang. Gunshots. An unexplainable, but painful sound, after, and then silence. Until the door was tried to be opened once again, this time however via thehandle, and way more gentle.

Knock nock

"Hello? Are you alright?" A female, soft but concerned, voice now asked from the other side.

A trap in this nightmare scenario? Or a plot-driving savior in last second?
They had to decide.

Sasara had been whisked away from certain death. Rescuied from the clutches of the terrrifying mouth monster by the very energetic methods of Snow, the girl she'd just 'met'. The short statured girl had managed to drag both of them into the relative safety of a bookstore on the street. Though, this was not enough to deter the monster in it's agitated state.

Still somewhat dazed, Sasara turned her head about as she scanned around the bookstore. As if somewhere in there was an answer to all of this. It was at that moment she was able to finally see what she had turned into. Looking at her reflection in a mirrored book display. She looked at 'herself' in awe for just a couple of moments. Just amazed.

Scratch...

The 'magical girl' was returned to reality at the alarming sound coming from outside.

At this moment, it seemed like it was ponderously prodding a way to get in through the door that was comparatively small to itself. The light skritching going on the frame of the door opposite of where Sasara and Snow were now hiding seemed to only be tense preludes to it attempting to smash it's way in.

One could only imagine the thing could somehow start biting chunks out of the door, and then after that, it would all be over.

Sasara's 'savior' spoke, seeming to not appreciate the current predicament they had ended up being rolled into, and Sasara's recklessness. But, snow also apologized. Apologetic and convinced - or rather hoping that this was all some sort of elaborate joke.

Despite Snow's wishes for this to be somehow a controlled environment, it wasn't. Sasara's only immediate answer was a confused but strained expression at the current circumstances.

They were all about equally helpless against what they were facing. The monster was able to take glass being smashed over with a glass orb. And it was able to deflect a physical blow by simply overpowering it with it's scary jaws. Whatever she turned into seemed to have done nothing to really help, and there was an acute shortage of time available in figuring it out.

Eventually the scratches turned into banging onto the door. Snowball began to strain at holding it. By reflex, Sasara joined her. Attempting to prop the door closed just to extend their safety by whatever previous couple of seconds they could. But as the door hinges began to give way, the girl, with rising desperation, began to feel like the more ideal move would've been to find another exit and leave...

Loud shots, and the violent assault on the door seemed to cease.
A jiggle at the door, and a couple of soft knocks. These were a welcome far cry from the chaos that was being thrown at the door a moment ago.

A voice asked if they were alright.

Somehow, in this moment a choice had to be made about whether or not to engage with that voice. After all that had happened Sasara was jumpy at almost any potential threat. Jumpy enough that even answering this character was something she had to summon her own courage to do. Gradually though, she eventually turned her gaze to Snow - that she was only now realizing she was almost pancaking into the door from trying to prop it closed.

Sasara's cautious expression asked for a mutual agreement to answer the voice.

Snow's heart continued to race. It felt like her heart was igniting as she frantically pressed against the door. But just when she'd blathered out things like apologies and wishful thinking, a few loud bangs ended the struggle... for a bit.

She relaxed... slightly; back still to the door as she stole one long breath.

"It looks like your police idea was spot on..." she whispered, half relieved, half terribly suspicious.

The relief side of Snow won out against her suspicion pretty quick. Maybe the pinkie had hired this girl as some top-rate actor, but it was incredibly hard to believe it wasn't actually Sasara, despite looking completely different (and was she taller now!?). The way she moved, the way she'd reacted to the whole situation, and the way she'd just now drawn back from the mirror... it was all very genuine. At least to Snow.

Noticing Frilly-Sasara's look, Snow replied with a nod of her own, gesturing towards a distant counter and holding up a hand with three fingers.

...two fingers.
...one.

As quickly as possible, Snow bolted for the counter, diving over-top and hiding behind it, juuuust peeking over the top.

"It's open!" she called, once she'd established her new hiding position.

Snow immediately ducked for cover. This caught Sasara by surprise; and because of their close proximity to the door Snow's mad jump for going behind the counter inevitably brushed up substantially against Sasara. Enough to completely throw her off balance. Thus, the transformed girl stumbled away from the door before shortly before she began to just fall altogether.

Sasara felt the sharp stick of betrayal as she fell. She knew it! She really should've just escaped on her own!

Thump.

Her train of thought was interrupted as she was 'caught' rather comfortably by one of the frozen patrons. In this case, it looked like the person might've been a practitioner of sumo with his arms opened out like he was in the middle of a big explanatory gesture in a conversation that was now frozen in time. Having her fall broken by this individual was a bit like having her fall stopped by a wall of pillows. Alebit frozen pillows, but pillows nonetheless.

"It's open!"

Sasara narrowed her eyes as she stood propped up by the large fellow.

Snow invited the person outside, seemingly feeling safe that Sasara was the first in the cross-hairs when they entered. At about that moment all of Snow's heroics from earlier were nulled - and Sasara's opinion of Snowball returned back to default. Come to think of it, this wasn't the first time this sort of thing happened, didn't it?

Wait. Lumipallo Snowball.
This girl introduced herself as Snowball... this was that Snowball?

This was that girl that transferred out of the academy not too long ago, right? Yes... this was the one person that Sasara couldn't ever imagine herself getting along with. Should've guessed she would end up getting betrayed by her again! Even after all this time, she was just as trashy as she was back at the academy.

Thusly, Sasara's memories in regards to Snowball Lumipallo were restored - to normal.

Instinctively, she clung a little to the person she was leaning up against. Fully expecting things to not go well.

As she peered out from her hiding spot, she decided to cut her losses. If she stayed it would find her. It was... searching? Oh that was not good. So Akane hit the thing over the head with the rolling pin, it made a really solid thwack she noted, and decided to hightail it out the door. She hadn't quite recovered, but she was no slouch either. Apparently, hauling everyone paperwork and doing all those stairs and steps counted for something.

"Hah... hah..."
Akane started to laugh, having survived her encounter with the strange creature.

Her victory was short-lived, however, when she ran into the eye of the creature, falling back onto her butt. It loomed over her. In all of the ghastly horror of a giant, single glowing eyeball. It was going to attack her. Akane grabbed a handful of dirt and threw it into the most obvious spot; the giant stupid eyeball.

"Why won't you leave me alone?"
Akane yelled, as if that was going to somehow make the monster repent for it's actions. "I haven't... well I just did but still! Leave me alone!"

She was rambling, but she moved away. She wasn't going to sprint away again partially because she was out of energy, and if the thing was this fast... it'd just catch up again. Some distance would help? Maybe? Her legs were shaking... everything was shaking. She'd run so far and fast, and she really hadn't done much to rest in between.

So it was try and make it stop here, or accept that things were going to go south. Either way, she wasn't going to be able to run much further.

"Can you even talk, or are you just some big monster going to around squishing people... here. Wherever here is."
Akane rambled. Shut up! "What do you want?"

Good, now you can die knowing the monster's true trauma was it's sad childhood and that it was a good guy all along. This is why you're so stupid and boring, Akane. Well, at least you managed to stand your ground for once.

She had to block the internal voice out, but the bored tone of Snowball reverberated in side her head.

You cancerous tumor.

"Wait..." Snow hummed to herself, glancing around her safe space and noticing a distinct lack of anyone else. Peeking above the counter, she noticed Sasara, suddenly leaning up against some random frozen guy.

Snow threw her a weird look, hastily beckoning her to join her under the desk and receiving nothing back but a scornful look.

...?!

"Do I need a leash to get you to run anywhere...!?" she exclaimed at Sasara in disbelief through a facepalm, standing up from her hiding spot and making herself visible again.

Whatever the monster wanted to do with its twitching hand lift motion, Akane had stopped it the moment the dust, dirt, and rubble had hit its eyes. Taking a few steps back, the monster made some disgruntled noises as the girl tried to reason with it, behaving very much like any human that would have gotten hit with stuff inside their open eyes.

Flailing around for a good ten to twenty more seconds, it finally calmed down. Or did it? Akane's conversation tactics fell on deaf ears as the monster suddenly stopped mid-motion. No twitching. No sound. Its big eye, now red instead of yellow, focused now on Akane. Then it took one step forward, two steps, then it stopped. Instead, grabbing the next best thing close by - which just so happened to be a bench - with the ease of ripping out some grass from the ground, and flung it at Akane. The next time its red eye blinked it was suddenly an eye no longer, but instead a similar-sized big mouth. With many rows of sharp teeth. Was it... smiling?

@Ehb @Luma
"It's open!"

A second, or two, passed as the door was opened - the normal way - and a girl entered. Walking on some sort of frills of her clothes as she took a few 'steps' forward. She was certainly recognizable, yet... different? In the same way Sasara was Sasara but also different. "You..." She spoke up, taking a good look at Snowball before her gaze rested on the other girl. Sasara. "You two! Are you alright? How..." She shook her head. "That isn't important right now... if you two are able to move around and..." Her gaze on Sasara deepened for a moment. "... have there been others like you? It's very dangerous!" She clearly seemed somewhat distressed of the fact that these two girls, Snowball and Sasara, were present, but tried to keep it focused.

Well.

That went about as well as could be expected when reasoning with a monster who... well now it had teeth instead of an eye. And more importantly a bench which it was going to use to beat her to death. Akane scrambled away, barely rounding a corner before she had to stop.

And here I thought you were going to fulfill your use, at long last, Tumor.

"Hah... hah... shut up Snowball..." Akane said, out of breath. She was too tired to make a witty rebuttal.

Akane pulled out her phone, noting the odd notification, but quickly writing to Hanako. Maybe the notepad would remain safe?

Sorry-

Ugh this was dumb. Pointless even.

Akane stumbled further down the street, zigzagging as hard as she could. That might keep the thing at bay for now. She didn't want to die, but she was...

Stupid enough to split up the group and run off by yourself?

Maybe she was close enough for them to hear her?

"Help!" Akane called out. "Please... help!"

"Anyone..."

"Uunyaa?"

Sasara made some sort of confused sound in response to Snowball.

"Wait, you're plan was to hide the whole time-!?"

There was no time for Snowball to answer Sasara's ceaselessness at that moment. By then, the unknown from outside had already made their way in. At great surprise it was - - - someone Sasara did not recognize. Nonetheless, a feeling of relief came over Sasara. This was another girl who was able to move and not a monster.

However, one important detail was that she was wearing something 'out of place'. A strange outfit and appearance like Sasara.

This girl seemed to understand what Sasara knew herself from experience. The 'transformation'. The girl inquired as to whether she knew anyone else who had managed to transform themselves. Sasara, with all honesty, shook her head.

There wasn't much time to converse or make pleasantries of introduction however. The pleas and screams for help outside... it was the voice of the girl that Sasara woke up to - the one who was with Snow just a moment ago. The one who had ran off. They were now apparently in danger, getting chased by one of the monsters.

"T-that's one of the girl who was with us! She's in trouble!" Sasara sprung out of the embrace of the frozen person. "Yyou know how to fight those monsters, right? Please help her!"

Sasara disregarded the fact that the girl (Akane) had basically abandoned them earlier. If the girl was facing what Sasara and Snow had almost fell victim to moments ago... they had to be saved. No one deserved such a gruesome fate!

Snow returned Sasara a look of pure, dumbfounded indignation. Not one that lasted long, given the opening door...

"Oh, whew..." she sighed, exhaling in relief and climbing over the desk into the main part of the store again. Snow was about to speak when she noticed Akane running past the store screaming for her life.

"I have a lot of questions on my mind right now, but if you know something that can help: spill it quick!" Snow demanded, pointing at the strange white-haired girl.

"Ah..." Kaede was about to say something but was ultimately cut short by an Akane that pretty much ran the opposite direction of her initial escape when she first split with the group. It all escalated in seconds...

"Akane!?" Kaede called out, turning around. The monster was still chasing Akane. Making some relatively slow steps forward before, in the blink of an eye, teleporting some distance every now and then. By now, its mouth had changed back to an eye as it continued to make weird, distorted, laughing noises. Clearly playing with its prey...

"Vile beast..." Kaede mumbled, quickly leaving the shop as one of her clothing-extensions started to grow, glow, and change shape until separating itself into a hand-gun firmly placed into Kaede's hand; with even the material having changed after the glow dimmed. Pointing the weapon at the eye-monster, the girl didn't hesitate to unload its magazine into it.

Three bullets hit the eye as it stumbled backward. Giving up its chase on Akane with a low growl, it instead put enough strength in its leg muscles to jump-teleport towards one of the buildings, higher up. Landing on all four with a force that made part of the wall give in before it jumped again towards Kaede. This time at a more humane speed, however.

"Tzch..." The girl emptied the magazine into it as she used her clothes to jump away from the place she was standing at - already producing a new weapon while mid-air. This time, with the help of multiple clothing strands, something akin to a rocket-launcher. With the monster landing on the spot that Kaede had just stood mere moments ago, it was locked long enough in place for the projectile to fire off, hit, and explode. Creating more destruction, maybe even hitting innocent bystanders, and a big cloud of smoke right in front of the shop Sasara and Snowball had been hiding it.

Was it dead?

...

There was no sound as, this time, the monster re-emerged into the bookshop through one of many new holes created on the front-side. It seemed clearly nearly defeated. Part of its torso, and an arm, missing. With a mouth instead of an eye, it certainly didn't smile as confident as before.

Instead, with one quick look between Sasara and Snowball, it used its pseudo-teleportation-power to close the gap between itself and the ex-bully - who didn't really manage to move too far in the few seconds of battle - in an instant. Its other, still functional arm, wrapping around her throat. Lifting her up and bringing her inch by inch closer to the many rows of sharp teeth that were its head.

A single act of defiance before its demise. Hoping to take at least one of these nuisances with it before its undoing...

Snowball was about to be eaten.

Despite the frighteningly powerful display from the other transformed girl, the monster - shot up as it was, was in the midst of one final swan song. It was drawing the bully into it's teeth. The other girl had to do something! She had a gun! She could stop the monster from eating her!

But...

You should let her die, Sasara.

Powerless Sasara had nothing to fight this monster with but a half eaten and apparently flimsy staff and a card.
She had no guns, or a magical sword. She had no kind of magic - save for doing a card trick... with just a single card.

Snowball had it coming to her.

"Hyaaa!"

With all her strength, Sasara blindly stabbed the stub of her broken staff into the monster.

It was laughing at her.

Of course it was, she was a weak... thing that could barely stand up any longer. But she had to hope that someone heard her. Anyone heard her. "Please..."

Bang bang bang.

Three gunshots hit the monster dead on, and Akane was grateful. It leapt away and she could stumble back towards the others. At least she was pretty sure that was the others. Maybe she was hallucinating but one of them looked cotton-candy colored now. Either way, human looking enough that if she could just get a breath or two in while the monster was...

That was Kaede wasn't it?

Ah. This was all too insane. Time's stopped, Kaede can shoot guns -via magic? probably magic-, and the monster was still teleporting around. However, she was willing to leave it to the professionals. Well, willing was more like... needed to do so to live. The monster was looking pretty hurt when Akane sensed it move.

After spending so long knowing it was behind her teleporting around, she knew it. Snowball made a choking sound and Akane knew that Kaede wouldn't react in time.

Akane wasn't thinking about whether or not Snowball deserved this... she was thinking that the monster needed to stop. She had nothing weapon like on her... so she punched and kicked, being as much of a pain to it as possible. Sweat was in her eyes, so things were starting to swim around, but she wasn't going to let go.

If only I had a weapon...!

Akane wished for something... anything to reach out and grab to destroy this thing. In her mind, it was the reason they were here, and true or not she had to do something to get back to normal. She wished to go back to shopping and laughing with her friends. Her stubby nails clawed the side of the monster as she aimed kicks at it's side.

"Why won't you die?!"

It was all a blur. One moment, there was a third white-haired girl was Sasara just a mistake(?) and the next there were guns, and rocket launchers and bGHRACK!!

What little Snow had left of a sense of security had been swept away and choked out. Not breathing was awful; getting shredded by a living tooth grinder was a whole lot worse.

She tried to scream, but there was nothing. She tried to she her eyes, but they were fixed firmly on the guttural horror below. Maybe it was just as well... Snow had tormented so many people before... well... she had it coming.

...but she didn't want to. Not like this! Snowball struggled, and fought, and kicked, and sent out every "I don't wanna die" signal possible. But it was no use... she was small, and firmly in grasp.

Yet there was one small light of joy in all of it: she could hear the other two doing all they could. Despite everything Snow had done: their gestures... their risk to save her... Snow's eyes began to water. Tears of joy, or pain, or water literally squeezed out of her neck, it was hard to tell. If she had to die, she'd do it with two friends.

...and that was more than she'd ever had before.

The monster let out an annoyed screech as both Akane and Sasara bothered it. Akane like a nasty cat. While Sasara, quite literally, impaled its torso. Without a second arm to defend itself against their not-so-pitiful assaults, it instead used Snowball as an extended weapon. A beating stick. Hitting the two girls with full-force all of a sudden, pushing them away. A second, or two, that Snowball was not getting closer to its razor-sharp maws.

Yet, a second was maybe all that Kaede needed. As maw and Snowball came closer and closer together again, another shot fell. A bullet stronger than the others, powered up by magic, shot forth from the dust cover at the entrance and hit the monster's head once again.

Its head imploded in less than half a second, then nothing. In the blink of an eye the monster's head was missing. No blood spilled. No guts. Snowball could slowly feel its grip becoming weaker and weaker, before completely letting go off her and falling backward. Then, all it once, it simply disintegrated into many, many, small yet beautiful, particles, until nothing was visible anymore.

"Phew..." Kaede let out a sigh of relief, entering the storefront now too. "Anyone else?" She asked in a serious manner.

lifting herself up, Sasara felt a little recoil that dissipated quickly, Despite the force of the blow. It felt like it didn't hurt as much as it otherwise should've. Like how a child falling down could easily recover as opposed to a teenager whose larger body would elicit a stronger impact. Sasara was definitely a little smaller than she was normally used to - but at the same time she felt that her new form was somehow tougher. Did it all perhaps have something to do with the transformation?

Nonetheless, with a bang from the other girl's weapon, Snow was freed. Sasara looked over to the other girl whom had been swinging at the monster to let the other girl go. Giving her a look that said communicated 'did we really do that?' without really saying a word.

Sasara moved on over to Snowball, where she had been plopped onto the ground. Leaning fourth, Sasara looked her over quickly. No real injury was visible like bleeding. Though the monster had seemed to have been rather alarming in the sort of grip it had on her.

Hey, Snow are you alright?

Sasara's lips opened to say those words. Instead however, he stopped herself. Her worried expression turned into one of forcing herself to be cold and unsympathetic. Her best being particularly lacking, but the intention remained clear.

She turned away, moving her gaze around to more appropriately instead look at their savior.

"Thank you! You saved us!"

She stood up, moving away from Snowball and towards the other transformed girl.

"...Nobody deserves to die like that. But, do you know what's going on here? I'm so confused about all this." Sasara said, looking at her own vastly different look caused by her interaction with the app.

One moment Snow was bracing for a toothy impact, the next she was suddenly smacking the others in an unwilling tackle. The collision with Akane hurt bad enough, but weird Sasara... Snow had to hold back a shriek as the high-speed collision produced a disturbing cracking sound from her arm.

It hurt...

It HURT!!

More than sand in her eyes; more than the ghost pepper soda she'd imported from India; even more than that time her Dad accidently whacked her with an ice ski in Finland! At least teeth shredding would've been quick... this was agonizing and it wasn't letting up at all!

Snow's pain had so thoroughly seized her attention, she barely even noticed the monster's grip loosening... at least until she hit the ground. She quietly whimpered in pain, coughing as her throat readjusted to not being violently crushed. There she laid: face to the ground, wishing for any sort of relief.

"Yeah.... thanks... all of... you..." Snowball croaked with the tone of a life-long smoker to double Sasara's words. After probably half a minute of coughing on the floor, Snow forced herself to stand. Even through her jacket, the way her one arm limply hung from her shoulder, plus the way she was biting her lip, clearly broadcast that it was broken.

"Just us... so far..." she answered, voice slowly returning to normal.

"I..." Kaede looked worriedly at Snowball as she emerged from the smoke. At the very least the ex-bully seemed alive. "Yes, I know what is going on." She ultimately said, putting her hand against her head as if dealing with an annoying situation. "You..." She shook her head. "I'm very well aware this could happen, but it's nonetheless... weird. These circumstances..." She murmured more to herself than the others, before readjusting her posture to one of more confidence.

"You're out of danger now, so I'm sure we can go over this in more detail later. But for now...I'm Kaede Kiyabu. A Mahou Shoujo responsible for the protection of this town. These monsters you've witnessed... they're the enemy of humankind." She paused, giving each of them a few seconds to take in her words that were a direct denial to reality as they knew it.

"This place... this space you're in is not something just anyone can enter. Henceforth, I am very certain you have been chosen." She motioned towards Sasara. "You certainly have."

"That's the very, very, short version." Another pause. This time, longer. Would they just accept Kaede's very casual exposition or be in denial?

"I'm Kaede Kiyabu. A Mahou Shoujo responsible for the protection of this town. These monsters you've witnessed... they're the enemy of humankind."

Snow let out a combination snort and cough, as if releasing a snarky chortle at some joke that wasn't worth a full out chuckle. Her face creased a grin despite the pained expression, and she held it for a while until Kaede's life-or-death-serious expression made it perfectly clear that it wasn't a joke. Then Kaede drove it home even further with a 'chosen one' bit.

"Wait... you-- cough --you can't be serious...!?" Snow exclaimed, rubbing her throat with her good hand. It was hard to believe, but then again, she'd just been choked by a tooth beast, so...

"Then... the shows... ya know...? cough They're all some sort of cover...!? And I'm a... ma... mahooou..."

Something inside of Snow was internally reeling in agony over the idea. These were the kind of people she'd made fun of for so long. They were the easiest: chuunbyous, otakus, and the like. The very idea of running around shouting lines about the power of friendship felt cringey beyond belief.

Akane felt the impact as Snow was used as a weapon to knock her away. She was aware as she was knocked into the air and back. It was funny how the time hung on as she fell back. She watched the monster explode, and knew that Snowball was safe. She only dimly was aware that she herself was not fine.

Akane saw stars as she hit the wall of the nearby bookstore. Everything looked sort of like she was watching through static, and her vision seemed to tunnel in. Did they win? It was hard to stay focused.

Akane took some deep breaths and tried to stand up. Well, to the outside observer it looked like she was laying there, but she had seriously tried to stand up. Everything hurt and she was breathing hard. That's it... she was hallucinating this all, wasn't she? No, she could feel warm sticky blood on the back of her head. Too real and too painful to be a hallucination, but she wasn't willing to accept her one imminent demise.

Akane finally got to her feet, shaky but relatively stable. She had to get to the others.

Snowball was hurt, and Akane was jealous that the other girl that had been hit with Snowball was nearly unharmed. Akane moved close to Snowball and leaned on her.

"I feel like I ran a marathon..."
Akane said, touching the back of her head. "Bleeding's nearly stopped... learned from... Nurse. Will make splint... in a moment." Akane mumbled, trying to stay on her feet.

After Kaede's 'explanation', Akane managed to stand on her own more easily, but her hands were still shaking.

"You're not a... magical girl, Miss Lumipallo. There's no such thing, and whoever 'chose' me, obviously chose wrong. The first thing I did, as predicted, was run away and get myself in even deeper trouble."
Akane was suppressing her tears, but she clearly felt guilty. "I'm not worthy of being a hero, let alone a magical girl."
