Miria nodded and left with the Avermans as her elder brother left with the High Guards and Fenris.
Zach watched the Princess, his chest tight. "You never told me you had a brother," he said softly. He listened, not daring to go near her. He knew he'd upset her, disrespected her in her own throne room. His heart ached for her as she finally looked at him, his eyes showing her his pain. "Mine? But-" he shut his mouth before he could disrespect her anymore. "Yes, Princess," he said instead, bowing to her. He felt a gap between them form, a large wedge. "Edrea," he said softly. "I'm sorry for before," he apologized on a personal level, rather than a formal one.
He exited the room and headed towards where he felt the source of his infection coming from. He finally found the room and entered, the Avermans and his mother upset that they could not get an answer out of him. "Brother," he said, entering. He put his hand on his forehead, looking more into his essence. He studied it, deep in concentration. "Father's soul is kept in chains," he read from his brother's mind and backed away. "His shadow isn't harmed, but he is tired from fighting them. The Queen likes him near her at all times."
