  • Drow Assassin.jpg Drow Male.jpg
    Name: Pharin Baenate
    Race: Albita
    Age: 237
    Gender: Male
    Role: Ajutor; Hunter;
Gear: Black leather and cloth light armor and hood with mask
Arsenal: Bow, quiver full of arrows, twin scimitars, three daggers hidden within his clothing at all times.
Personality: Cool and level-headed, Pharin very often shows little emotion. He is, however, not against having a good time, and can now and again be found joking around with a few of the other males in the stables. Raised subservient, he does as his Matron asks without question, alongside his duties as a hunter, albeit a bit grudgingly.
History: A male in a female dominant society, and the only one of five children, Pharin never had much of a chance to flourish the way his sisters did. He got to train with them, receiving the same lessons, going to the same practices, working the the same teacher. Often he was used as negative reinforcement to better his sisters ("Oh, come on, Shashari, are you going to let a male beat you?"). But he was never loved as much. Never knowing his father and generally disregarded by his mother, Pharin was practically raised by the staff alone. He was taught what it was to be a male, and soon came to accept this life.
A day came during his adolescence when his mother, the Matron of House Baenate, ordered him to kill the head of her staff, the man who raised him. After a slight hesitation, Pharin grunted "Yes, Matron." and conspired to kill the other male. Sliding a dagger between the servant's ribs while his back was turned, he ended his childhood. From then on he was almost constantly practicing his archery or doing chores around the house. It wasn't very long until his skill, exceptional for a male, was recognized and he was given the duties of the hunter.
Other: He carries with him an amulet representative of the goddess Purpuriu, as his entire life has revolved around death, from his upbringing to his current profession.

Beatrix pointed me to this RP in the chat, and it looks pretty neat. I think I'll join.

Currently planning on making a Cenusiu male, and maaaaaaybe an Otravit of some kind if I do a second character.

  • Name: Argus Maupin
    Race: Cenusiu
    Age: 182
    Gender:male
    Appearance:
    u7RrMnR.jpg

    Role: Scout, hunter, traitor hunter

    Gear: (as shown in picture)
    Full set of armor
    Blackraven Cloak
    Horned Battle Helm

    Arsenal:
    two war axes
    Albita crafted kukri
    several small throwing hatchets

Personality: Argus is stern and aloof at first glance, his eyes almost always perpetually narrowed and he barely speaks except for monosyllabic grunts or terse sentences. But if you get to know him he will become more talkative, his gruff demeanor changing into an almost never ending bout of foul moodiness. He is foul mouthed often and brutally honest, if he does not like something he will be the first to say so. Since he is used to being alone on long journeys and relying on himself Argus' people skills are not the best, but if you catch him in a drunken state he might open up and happily recount his adventures with friends.

    History:
Born as member of House Baltag, Argus was always one who despised the endless politics and grooming the members of the house went through to obtain favor with the Thane. After coming of age Argus shocked his parents when he pledged to join the Blackraven scouts. The Blackraven scouts are a group that has been around for centuries, the Blackravens were created to patrol the borders of the cenusiu realm. The Blackravens are also rather infamous for their role in hunting down accused traitors, something that is seen as unsightly in a society based on honorable combat and the glory of battle. Argus' declaration was shocking also based on the fact that once you join the Blackravens it is a lifelong commitment and members are not allowed to pursue thanehood or any other royalty based position.
After joining the Blackravens, Argus quickly rose in the ranks and soon became a respected leader. Argus briefly came into the spotlight when he hunted down and killed a traitor assassin who attempted to kill the Thane. After being honored by the Thane, Argus turned down an offer to become a member of the Thane's royal guard, preferring to stay a Blackraven and lead a life of adventure. Several years passed and Argus continued to dutifully patrol the borders. Currently the number of Blackravens are at an all time low, the borders have remained stable and the need for scouts has decreased. While many have tried to convince Argus to give up his scouting ways and become a mentor for new riders, Argus stubbornly refuses, determined to carry on the Blackraven ways and traditions for the rest of his life.

    Other:
Argus recieved an Albita crafted kukri knife after saving a stranded Albitan blacksmith. The knife has since remained with him and is one of Argus' most treasured possessions.

  • Name: Hokal
    Gender: male
    Appearance:
    ss1LhH0.jpg

    Relationship:
Hokal is just as foul tempered as his rider, both Hokal and Argus bear scars from when they first met. Hokal has a reputation as being a nasty opponent, he has injured several other riders and their mounts during sparring matches, so much so that Argus has been advised to not participate in sparring matches so as to not injure anymore riders or mounts. Hokal and Argus have a relationship similar to drinking buddies, they regularly insult and lightheartedly abuse each other but when the time to fight arrives they are deadly serious.

I just want to say that Steorra is still a WIP because I have more details to add and a couple of things to change. Learning about the age limitations of the mounts has made it clear that I need to rework her relationship to her bat, big time.

I do have a few more questions about the Lilieci (though I suspect you might have similar info for all of the mounts?). First, their average lifespan is eighty years old, but at what age are they eligible for riders? Second, are the riders allowed to dictate breeding for their mounts? For instance, would Steorra be allowed to be selective in what females or males her past and current mounts are allowed to mate with so that she can ensure the best offspring? One of the edits I was hoping to make is that she always chooses mounts from a specific line of Lilieci until she eventually ended up with her current mount. I know in the racial information, it says the mounts are selected by a handler which sounds like it's done at random, but I was wondering if Steorra would be permitted to kind of sway what mount she ends up with from a select line even if she may not be able to choose the exact Lilieci? Third, at roughly what age would mounts need to be retired due to old age? Albita live for a pretty long time, especially compared to mounts, so I think retiring practices seem pretty reasonable. Fourth, what sort of retiring practices do you see happening? Would there be an area where retired Lilieci go to live out the rest of their lives like "Moonybrooke Retirement Home for Senior Lilieci"? hahah Alternatively, are they just put down once they're no longer rideable? =(

As for making this rp into a Group, I think that could actually be a good idea for the scale and style you want to implement. It opens the way for a lot of detailed information. You could literally have a thread that only you post in that is filled only with posts containing information about the world, races, mounts, etc. etc. It would also open the way for big group rp's and little one-on-one rp's for characters getting to know one another. It would basically be like an entire world with any limitless amount of plots to follow all contained in one area. As the GM, you could implement game-wide plots, but players could also enact their own ideas at your discretion. If that wasn't what you had in mind at all, I'm sorry. I will shut my trap henceforth. =P

WrenIo_zps74295936.png
Name: Io ~ eye-oh
Race:
Otravit ! Clan Umtra-skal
Age: 53
Gender: Female
Role: Rider; Relic Seeker

Gear: Full body wrap of loosely woven fibers. While extremely flexible, the wrap serves as armor against the bites and stings of native flora ad fauna and camoflage from rival clans and the many predators of the islands. Gauntlets, breastplates and other armor are made of multiple layers of leather and the same woven gauze glued and pressed together in molds custom designed for each warrior. At her belt she carries rope, a small pouch for her finds and a vial of her wyvern's poison.

Arsenal: An elaborately carved blow gun passed down to her from her grandfather. A dagger used for close combat and cleaning fish.

Personality: Io has a temper as fiery as the lava flows from the mountain. She prefers her own company but is fiercely loyal to her clan and while she might not always get along with them, she will defend her own to the death from anyone who so much as looks at one of them the wrong way.

She will not admit it but she is drawn to beauty, preferring her calling as a Seeker, gathering flowers and shells to the reading of signs in bones and the entrails of sacrifices.

History: Io was raised by her paternal grandparents. Her mother's clan were rivals with her father's clan. They traded only in insults and rash dares. One night, insults led to dares which resulted in a drunken liaison between her parents. When she was born, her mother brought her to her father having no desire to bring up a child of the Umtra-Skal.

When Io was only 15 years old, her father was killed in a challenge sponsored by the dying War chief to choose his successor. Her grandparents were harder on her than her father had been, but Io was strong and grew into a savage young fighter, though she preferred being left alone to wander the swamps hunting for relics.

It has been several generations since a member of her clan as produced a Seeker. While the clan takes great pride in this, her temper and anti-social nature keeps her at odds both within her clan and without. The Warchief and his council often send her far away to hunt for powerful relics to keep her out of their hair.

Seeker: While none can wield magic, the Otravit are always seeking items of power with which to strike fear into their enemies, to intimidate their rivals, and to instill virtues of various kinds in themselves. Stones, feathers, sea shells and more can be considered relics of power. Some Otravit believed that there were ones among them who were gifted in finding these objects. Io is considered one of these.

There is no word for beauty in her language, yet it is this very thing that sets her relics apart. Flowers pressed between translucent sheets of dried sap. Glass stones from the mountain chipped to reveal their dark facets. Shells strung on braids of leather. All hold mystic energies in the minds of the Otravit and none are better at finding them than Io of the Umtra-Skal.

WYVERN:

AshkWren_zps7b42f096.png

Name: Ashk
Gender: Male
History: Ashk is the single offspring of her father's wyvern, Ishka. Without the care of his mother, Ashk would have died. Their bond began long before she came of age and became a rider. The beast barely tolerates the Handler, much less the stable, which isolates his rider from her clan to some degree, and gets her in frequent fights.

((It is my intention, if approved, to use this issue as the catalyst which forces her clan's leadership to send her on a quest for relics among the other races. ))

Nice CS! I have one knitpick. I really like the wandering aspect of your character but I think it would make more sense to be a temporary thing. I can see a Cenusiu using an Albita for a contract hit or two but it wouldn't beget a great deal of work. The Otravit would make a show of it and do it themselves and Erodate might trade with your character but I don't feel like either race would very open or inviting to the creepy little white folk. If you could tweak it to sound more like he had been gone on a long assignment instead of wandering for year I would be grateful.

Fun fact: I used that same character for my shapeshifter in Thought Manifest's RP. XD
Hah. I referenced Thief while I was making it, and thought "Fuck it. My character shall be Garrett."

Assignment.... Like, say, a thieves guild?

EDIT: Alright, slipped it in.

No worries, it's been a while since I've been involved in such a large scale RP so adaptions will be allowed. Approval is mostly based upon character concept and thorough completion of the CS.

As far as selection, I am sure that a rider in good standing could sway the handler. Given Albita society, this could be easy or difficult for you. The Abita Handler has already been claimed but that doesn't mean you couldn't NPC one. As important as mounts are to the people[all races], selective breeding is probably very common in all likelihood, treacherous just like horse racing.

Think of your mount like a horse used in the old West. Sure, some people kept a horse for many years but constant riding will wear them out, certain injuries cannot be healed [because there's no magic], the world is dangerous, a competitor could poison your mount and the list goes on and on. I doubt that many mounts make it to retirement age. That's not to say someone with the right amount of power and wealth couldn't set up a handler to stud out an old lilieci. I leave these things up to the minds of the players. Your lady might care for her mounts in their final years at her own expense while someone else might just kill it and sell what pieces have value. I am certain there is a black market for the adrenal glands of a wyvern; steroids AND Viagra all at once!

Yes. Yes. Yes. Aaaaaaand yes. XD

Interesting! Since Albita society is so focused on women, men might create a seedy underbelly... Not that it has to be just men but I like where your head is taking this. Two conditions; you can't be the leader [yet...] and your regular job has to be something ridiculously mundane [ya know... so you're spiteful].

Regular job, such as, I don't know, the apothecary gig that is already mentioned?

<_< Congratulations! You passed my test. I wish I would pass once in a while.

That is fine since you wouldn't be running the shop. XD

Right. Also, being in the thieves guild would have its own benefits, like contacts and shit.

Ooh! I might be getting ahead of myself but story wise maybe yuna joins argus as a new recruit/apprentice?

I haven't started my character yet but I'm starting to dwindle away because there's so many people... I'm getting a little scared because I've never truly done a mass roleplay before and things might get confusing for me. I'm also somewhat afraid that I might slow people down... Or worse, my partner...

That is between the two of you.

I am in the process of creating a Group. What this will do is break up the characters into their perspective races. So instead of [I think] 9 characters all on one thread, there will be one thread for each race drastically minimizing confusion. As far as slowing people down, I am only asking for one post a week once we begin. Another benefit of the Group is that I am going to separate the OOC as well. There will be a General OOC, Q&A and a thread for me to post updates, new plots, changes, etc.

I do not wish to strongarm you, Vaewolf, but I am going to do my best to make this easy, logical and fun for everybody.

I thought the one thread for each race was to separate and organize information about each species?

Not to be pushy, but when do you think the group will be up WH?

I honestly don't know. I have it started but there is much to do in the way of transferring intel and whatnot. I have church tonight and a meeting afterwards but I am hopeful it will be done this weekend.

I finished my cs.

Hey there @WarriorHeart - so does this mean my character has been accepted? Isn't accepted? Needs work somewhere along the line to become acceptable? Please do let me know, so if there is anything that needs reworking/revamping/unscrewing in Sahale's CS? I can make it happen while I still have some free time this long weekend. Thanks ;)

@WarriorHeart
Okay so what races aren't filled up? I only made an Erodate because on the first post there's only one character listed for each race except for Albita, so I figured the rest were open. ^^
