The heat was uncomfortable, but not as much as it was to have someone care so much about her well being. The whole situation seemed to sudden and strange to her that she admittedly felt a little afraid. Perhaps she shouldn't have taken him so lightly.. maybe this was his way of keeping her in check like she'd done for him the night previous...

Ila began to fidget, and looked away from him, defeated. "You win, alright? I'll be sure to let you know the second it becomes too much, just please let me go.." the last bit came out as perhaps the single most defenseless thing she'd ever said to anyone.. it felt bad, but she knew he meant no harm.

Kanda jerked his hands away and shoved them in his pockets. He nodded, content with her answer. "Okay..." He cleared his throat and looked at her face. "Sorry." He apologized meekly before turning away and fidgeting. Warmth that was not his own traveled up his spine and he quickly stamped it out.

Ila closed her eyes when she was finally let go, her body was hot and her face flushed because of it. Hands raised to her shoulders and she rubbed them carefully where his hands left distinct marks on her tan skin. It was a little unsettling.. but more so was the guilt she felt when noticing how Kanda was fidgeting.

She didn't like it, but she understood his reasoning. He'd lost enough people, she wouldn't want to add her own name to that list after their first mission.

"Are oyu two finished havin' yer little moment? Or can we just get the hell on tha road?" Jean said but in that moment dropped his cigarette and quickly began fumbling around for it.

Carefully she lowered her hands and stole a glance at the distracted driver before moving quickly and with a oh so simple and slight hop placed a kiss on his cheek. She didn't say a word for it, and before he'd be able to respond, whether positive or negative, she was already quickly moving toward the carriage. "Yes! Let's get this show on the road!"

Kanda looked at her quickly moving toward the carriage, hand going up to his cheek where she kissed him. He huffed as he felt his face flush, walking towards the caravan and trying to keep his composure. "Let's get this caravan going." He said a little impatiently, one hand holding his pack firmly in place.

Jean looked up when he'd nearly burned himself alive and recovered to see the two ready to go while being none the wiser. With everyone ready, he grabbed up the reins and snapped them hard ont he backs of the beats before yelling a quick "Hya!" and setting off on the trail.

"Next stop, Stella!"

Kanda nodded, keeping pace with the wagon, choosing to run along beside it. He knew he needed the exercise after his loss at the hands of the bandits the other day.

As the wagon was pulling off Ila hopped aboard beside (though keeping about as far to her side as she could without falling off the one side) Jean who glanced to her and gave a wink. Ila crossed her legs and thought about joining Kanda in the jog, but figured she'd probably do better to save her energy for what might await them on the road. She wasn't going to put Kanda in danger again cause of her being foolish.

Passing out of town was quiet save for the gentle rocking of the wagon and the slight creak of the wheels turning over rocks and debris. It didn't take much time for Ila to forget the discomfort of her shoulders and lay her head back against the dividing wall and enjoy the autumn air against her face.

Bosco was a nation little bigger than Fiore so it would stand to reason their journey through it wouldn't be short lived. That being said, Ila was the type to get bored easily, and as Kanda had already figured out she loved asking questions to almost complete strangers, no matter how threatening. "So what's with the arm?"

Jean arched his brow at the sudden question but shrugged before replying. "It's a reminder."

"Of?" Ila asked, curious.

The man smirked, "That Dragons are still among us, Sweet Cheeks."

Ila's face contorted into something of disgust at the nickname, but more than that at the thought of them traveling with a crazy person who believed Dragons were real. SHE'D never seen one, and neither had anyone she'd known, so there was no real REASON for her to believe him.

As if sensing her disbelief, the man shook his head. "You young ones these days.. Never believe anything you don't see with yer own eyes. What about you, Flame Wielder? Your guild surely knows about Dragons or their Slayers, right?"

Kanda nodded at the question. "Aye. I've fought one before actually. It was all fun and games of course."

Ila's eyes widened to the size of dinner plates with that little tid-bit of information. "Impossible. Dragons are just myths, and even if you did happen into one, it'd sooner kill you than have a fun little spar with you."

"Such ignorance is what drove the dragons to near extinction." Jean started, and shook his head. "Such was the reasoning man held with them for centuries before.. and after the dragons left us to our solitude."

Ila arched a brow. "Left?"

"Oh yeah." Jean nodded, keeping a careful eye on the road ahead. "The dragons weren't all the destructive beasts we hear about in fairy tales and books. Some were actually far waiser than we could have ever imagined in their immortal existence. While some of them thought of mankind as unfit to share their wisdom with, there were a few of them who sought a select few who we now call Dragon Slayers."

Ila sat back, truly having not expected Jean to know much of anything about anything and yet here she was getting a history lesson that....could possibly make some sense. "So then where could they have gone?"

Kanda listened as he kept pace with the caravan. Only a slight sheen of sweat appeared on his body. "Ila....you are so ignorant sometimes...." he sighed at her lack of knowledge of the dragons.

Ila crossed her arms over her chest with a huff looking straight ahead. "Oh shut up Kanda..At least.. at least i'm not sweaty...yeah. so there're that."

Jean chuckled then looked up at the road when his attention was stolen by smoke on the horizon. "..Well what's this all about?"

Ila looked up too, curious. "...looks like trouble. Kanda.. You think we should check it out?"

Kanda frowned at her. "Sweat shows hard labor." He saw smoke on the horizon and instantly alarm bells were ringing in his head. "Yeah, we better, but let's take it slowly...our mission is to get this caravan to the other town safely."

Ila gave a brief nod and climbed up on the seat with one foot on the seat and a hand on the dividing wall while keeping a careful eye on the smoke clouds. Eyes of violet shifted to an azure blue as she focused on the horizon. Take it slow. She'd respect Kanda's approach. The road they were on passed through open plains so it was easy for her eyes to focus on an upturned cart dawning a cloak of fire. "You got it big-guy. I'll watch your back from a distance. Send a flare if you need me to move in. Got it?"

Kanda nodded, motioning to the driver to slow his pace before he ran off towards the smoke. He reached it quickly, being in great physical shape, and saw the upturned cart on fire. "Crap..." He raised his hand and clenched it into a fist, extinguishing the flames easily.

Jean did as commanded, and watched Ila jump from the cart and dash off the road into the tall grass, at the same time Kanda was bolting up the road toward the cart. It was strange to see, almost like watching super-humans kick into gear.

The fire went out and the bodies of the drivers revealed. Something horrific, blood dried to corpses piled onto the cart as if a beacon or warning of what to expect outside the safety of town. Though something was off about it. Someone suddenly started crying. A child's voice, hoarse and weak from smoke inhalation. how she survived the flames or the attack were perhaps nothing more than a miracle of time. The cart was charred and badly damaged, but the cabin was perhaps preserved.

Kanda remained unflinching as the corpses were revealed. He frowned, the sign of the warning being obvious. His eyes snapped wide as he heard the child's cry. He leaped forward, pulling apart boards from the cart, "Hang on, sweetie..." He called softly. He could easily burn the wood, but knew that the smoke from such an actions could harm the already terrified child.

The child seemed to perk up when the boards were being moved and sounds of Kanda's voice calling to her. "H-help!" The child called, and through the rubble pale blonde hair and rose to see Kanda clawing at the cart to try to get to her. She was small so she was seated balled up within a small space created by the cart after it had been flipped. Surrounding her were the bodies of what could be assumed to be her parents, but they'd been marred beyond recognition.

The light through the hole made by Kanda clawing at the cart forced the girls eyes up and she looked upon him with eyes of a deep crimson, slitted like those of a dragon.

Kanda breathed a sigh of relief as her head popped out. He tore the boards from around her and gently reached in to pick her up. "I've got you."

The girl, on the verge of tears, flinched away from the scraps falling on her from the moving boards then quickly reached up as he picked her up.

Ila watched from the safety of the grasses, keeping her eyes peeled on the surrounding area. Nothing was moving... and it unsettled her a bit. This... couldn't have honestly been so simple. "...Where are you guys hiding... I know you're out here."

He hugged her to his chest. Looking around the landscape with confusion. Where were the people that had lit the coach on fire?
