Disclaimer: This RP will contain plot spoilers for the novel Ready Player One and its film adaptation.
The year is 2045. The Earth of this time is the result of decades of rampant conflict, greed, and hubris. What cities remain are plagued by lack of nearly every resource, and subject to harsh weather conditions.
The human race has retreated from the hard realities of this age, into the aptly-named Oasis. The magnum opus of James Halliday and his partner Ogden Morrow, The Oasis is a virtual reality game that has become The Game everyone has played or is playing.For some it has all but replaced their normal, real life. It contains the virtual world of every game and media genre to have come before it in one form or another, ensuring there is something for everyone to indulge in.
Halliday's Easter Egg Hunt has been going for years now, and is currently in stagnation as the world collectively scratches their head to find the first of three keys to unlock the grandest of all prizes; control of The Oasis.
This is where our/your story picks up. We are residents of this world who have retreated into an inner world that contains even more worlds.
In the bleak real world we are humans struggling in our own ways to live in any kind of comfort. In The Oasis, we can be almost anything and do almost anything.
Are you ready, Player One?

My partner Camleen and I have put our brains together to emulate to the best of our abilities The Oasis as envisioned by Ernest Cline in his novel Ready Player One.
For those unfamiliar with The Oasis here is a little more detail:
- It only costs 25¢ to buy at startup.
- It is accessed by a console with an internet connection, and played using at its most basic level with a VR headset and haptic gloves. There are more advanced consoles, suits, and rigs to allow a greater degree of immersion, up to entire rooms to allow full range of motion.
- Players control an Avatar that can be customized using any creation engine imaginable. Humans, aliens, demons, the limits are your imagination and tastes. These Avatars level up to 99, and have a nigh-infinite number of Skills to place in their Skill Slots. They can 'die' when their Health reaches 0, and the player will lose all their current inventory and have to resart with a new Avatar. There can only be 1 Avatar per account.
- There are in-game Credits used as currency to buy virtual property, vehicles, items, 'companionship' , anything one would buy in the real world and more. In fact, Oasis Credits can be exchanged as real world currency or even flat-out used in place of it in some cases.
- There are countless items from all kinds of media franchises available as Avatar weapons, vehicles, clothing. But there are special Artifacts in the image of very powerful items from your favorite media to be obtained as well.
- Have an MMORPG you are currently playing or have played? The Oasis has it and we have already done a lot of brainwork to adapt a Skill and Level System that should be applicable to most settings, but will work on an individual basis if something is missing to achieve your vision.

Due to the level of detail involved, we are asking only Adept to Advanced level players to join us. The posting schedule will be as varied as there will be variation in most everything else, and so please bear with all of us if you join.
Once we get going, we will have a clan page created to archive characters, Skills and Levels as they evolve, and see/access our various sandbox freeplays for the many worlds available.
If we have intrigued you, please post so below and we will get everything going properly.

Also, here is a plot bunny to get some people interested.
The Oasis is about to unveil a new planet, one that has many players very excited.
It's Yautja Prime, the homeworld of the Predator aliens that have only been rumored to appear randomly around The Oasis to hunt down worthy prey.
But now the planet is about to unveiled to the public after years of floating as a mass of grey and white blocks. Details are scant as to what will be on the planet itself. Speculation is all that can be done until it's opened to exploration.
But there is one thing for certain to be found on Yautja Prime.
