Name: Bellatrix Achillia Romella
Age: 25
Sex: Female
Birthplace: Scupi
Species: Infelix
Appearance:
Standing at a full height of 6'4", Achillia is surprisingly lanky for an Infelix. Her muscles aren't exactly bulging hunks of meat, but are more like sculpted, coiled wires of iron beneath a layer of fat: a combination of her gladiator diet and Infelix regeneration. Bronzed skin, hazel-green eyes and messy flaming red hair lends her a somewhat exotic look. With her body language quite open and back straightened, she uses her personality to intimidate, not only physical appearance.
Biography:
Born as Bellatrix Romella, Achillia was always a rambunctious child. The first child, of seven, Achillia enjoyed the perks of her blood all throughout her childhood. Her branch of the Romulus legacy believed they were the descendants of the first born of Romulus' sons, largely due to the surprising strength of all firstborn children in their lineage. These children were often considered the next head of their respective families, regardless of gender, when their alpha parent died. Unless, of course, the alpha was challenged by one of their younger siblings and loses.
Achillia's family line loved the violence they could bring, and were well known as soldiers and hired muscle. The pups (as they were called) learned weapon arts from their parents at a young age, and trained often with weapons as well as with their claws and fangs daily.
Before Achillia's tenth summer, she and her siblings visited their cousins while their parents were off fighting. Her uncle fraudulently sold her and two of her brothers to a slaver after he was unable to pay back the money he lost on bets and drink. The young Infelix fought tooth and claw to save her siblings until she was overpowered by three men, collared, and dragged off.
She was sold off to a noble's wife in Novum Comum to act as her daughter's handmaiden. She stayed for less than three months when the woman persuaded her husband to open and sponsor a ludis. The woman was convinced that she'd make more money than she had been bought for, once she saw the girl viciously kill assassins that had been sent after her young mistress. The nobleman agreed, bought out a failing ludis, and brought in veterans as well as other fresh slaves to participate in the games, in addition to Achillia. Her young mistress allowed the young slave to be parted from her, but only if she had a proper name, as she did not have one at purchase (Achillia refused to confirm her name). The noblewoman allowed it, and registered the slave under the name of Achillia.
She spent a few years training alongside the slaves, under the watchful eye of the Games' veterans. She began as a Bestiarius, until she managed to fight her way through the ranks until she was a fully fledged Gladiatrix. Soon, she lost herself in the carnage and killing, and often forgot that she was a slave. As time passed, it became less of a job that she was forced to do; it morphed into a job she loved to do. She saw herself not as a slave, but a warrior, a sanctioned executioner.
By the time of her nineteenth summer, she was a veteran of the sands herself, well known around the city, and had secured enough coin to secure her freedom two times over. Her lanista, however, gifted her with her freedom, when she defeated his rival's prized gladiator in a fight to the death over their masters' estates. The gift had been unexpected, as she'd gotten comfortable and resigned herself--and her loyalty--to her master.
In spite of being free, she continued to fight in the games on behalf of her ex-owners'--now patrons'--ludis, and taught a new batch of gladiatorial slaves there. They, of course, paid her for well for her services and expertise and furnished a new room in the ludis for her to live in. They showered her with good money, good food, and better equipment. They knew that she could leave whenever she wanted and could find work at almost any ludis. She let them, since after a while she gave up trying to refuse the gifts.
Achillia, now in her seventh year of freedom, has acquired quite a lot of money. She continues to fight on the sands for her patrons, long addicted to the feel of iron against her skin and the roar of the crowd in her ears. It is only her nightly transformations that allow her to remember her lost parents' and siblings' faces. She travels every once in a while to Remanus Proper to visit her ex-mistress and her husband, a Senator.
Mandatory Trait:
Bloodlust- While in battle, there is a chance that you might berserk, losing all common sense and becoming killing machines with no sense of teamwork. In this state, you become an amazing weapon, but it would be suicide for your teammates to try to plan around this unpredictable state.
Infelix:
Lumbering: You strike an imposing figure, standing taller and broader than most, with the strength to back it up. Whether in your human or beast form, you can throw a punch harder and carry a heavier load than those around you.
Regenerative: You have the ability to heal cuts and even slightly deeper surface wounds if you focus hard enough on the restorative process. Greater injuries do also heal slightly faster for you, but you don't have conscious control over that.
Claws and Jaws: The claws you've been cursed with are actually quite strong, and capable of tearing through all sorts of things, including leather armor. The huge, wolflike teeth are just as strong, able to dent metal and tear limbs, if given the chance.
General:
Gladiator: Not a trained soldier, you are either a criminal or a slave, and you have weathered several grueling battles for the sake of the crowd. Gladiators use rather unusual weapons: short swords, tridents, hammers, maces and nets, and your grit and determination to survive make up for your lack of fighting finesse.
Custom:
Blood of the Alpha: Achillia is surprisingly confident and charismatic for an ex-enslaved Infelix. This manifests biologically as well as mentally: she hits that much harder, she moves that much faster, and she stands that much straighter. She is a werebeast, and she revels in that knowledge as well as in her strength. She is Alpha, and she will make sure that every opponent knows it.
