Animalia

Caspian knelt and shook her roughly awake. "Wake Garrett," he ordered, turning this way and that, keeping an eye on the shifts in the shadows. The number of exits seemed to be dwindling, from which direction were the dogs coming from? He turned once completely, before swallowing, hard. "...Guys, we're... I think we're surrounded."

Kendall shot awake, so much so that she almost slapped the boy across the face. "Right!" she said, following orders.
Kendall knelt down next to Garrett's large frame and put a hand on each of his shoulders, trying to wake him.

"Garrett, we're surrounded!" She tugged at him and even slapped his chest and face-he was a deep sleeper.

Great. Just great. Her sweatshirt ploy had failed. Failed miserably too. It seemed she had risked her life for nothing. She watched as Kendall worked on waking Garrett. How could someone sleep that deeply? She wondered if one of the labcoats had brought a tranquilzer gun.

*Garrett was running, running SO fast and hard it sounded like the ground was going to rip apart at his feet. He looked around and saw rhinoceros' all around him.*

'What the hell....'

*He had a quick look behind him to find out what in the hell was chasing a bunch of rhinos and him. It was ... people. There were jeeps or something behind his herd, and they were shouting and throwing spears at the rhinos. Some of them had guns. He hoped they were tranquilizer guns."

Garrett awoke with a start. Kendall was looking at him like he was crazy, and he was sweating so much he thought he must BE crazy.

"Whats going on?" He whispered to her. Since he heard some other whispers around him, he thought it best to be cautious. He stood up silently waiting for someone to tell him what was going on.

"We're surrounded," Caspian said shortly. He hadn't meant to eavesdrop, but his enhanced hearing didn't seem to be something he could turn off. "Mostly dogs, big dogs, I swear some of the have wolf grandfathers or something. There are men with them, carrying something bulky, hard to tell, might be a gun, but I'm assuming this is what you were running from?"

" you weren't running too?!" Kendall question him out of frustration, simply confused and tired. She huddled closer to Garrett in hopes that she could just close her eyes and wake up back in her autobody shop.

"I have no idea what to do"

"Well, no," he replied, his tone wry. "They were all chasing you lot."

Cecile lay in the tree with her legs wrapped around the thick trunk, holding on with her strong muscles tightly. Her head lolled back and she laid across the extended branch whilst holding on. Her Katana's neatly shaped themselves around the tree and were unscathed by the rubbing of the bark. A grin spread across her face and she laughed just a little bit. Maybe she wanted them to hear her, to pick up on the sound of her laugh.. However, over the controlled dogs they probably couldn't hear at all.

Her hand reached down for the remote in which her slender long nails slid over the buttons and pressed several of them in tact. After giving them a head-start, they're probably aware now what they are. After all, the password was set so simply in order for the idiots to get it. Her hands still brushed over her torso and then placed the remote away after sending the dogs into hyper-mode to the group further in their cosie little camp. Cecile nuzzled her way down into the rather comfy bark, and closed her eyes, but not sleeping.

Ruby knew they wouldn't stop chasing them until they were at least captured. Her sweatshirt ploy had failed. She was scared out of her mind to even think about doing this but...She glanced at all of the others and knew it was now or nothing. Someone had to do something or they would all be captured. Since when had she become this insanly brave? For the hope of suvival. At least that's what she kept telling herself. If she let herself get captured, perhaps she could free others that were still stuck at the lab, if she could free herself if she wasn't dead. She knew the others would probably not want her to do this, so she just took off, hoping to lead the sciensts and the dogs away from them all. She went to let out a shout to draw their attention, but instead she screeched like a hawk, long loud and sharp, just like the bird. She blinked in surprise.

"There's one of them!" She heard a scientist shout.

She turned around to start running again but felt a dart hit her kneck, instantly knocking her out.

Enraged, Garrett roared in pain watching Ruby fall. He ran into the dogs and scientists, wanting to annihilate them all. He ran up to one dog, noticed it was a lot bigger than he expected. Looking like a bloodhound the size of a mastiff or a great dane. He furiously picked the dog up by it's scruff and under its belly, before it could bite him, and tossed it into another dog nearby. He heard them whine in pain when they hit and he cringed, this wasn't the dogs fault, they were just following orders. He went after the closest scientist. He could barely see but he charged to where he thought they would be, screaming as loud as he could and making a huge path through the brush. He felt no pain when the dart hit him, because it bounced right off his skin. He was confused but not enough to make him stop in wonder. He swept his arm at the scientist, mowing him over.

Kendall scrambled around in a circle, unsure of what to do. Her skin still felt tight, too tight. She itched at her arms as panick quickly set into her veins. An attack dog started to chase her, and all she could think to do was curl up. CURL UP?! that's it!!

Kendall screamed as her skin burst open. Areas around her shoulder, forearms, thighs, legs and back expanding. Her writhing removed her leather jacket, but her clothing began to rip and fall from her body. curl up, curl up!
(( I couldn't figure out how to properly explain what she looks like- but i drew it!View attachment 11712 ))

Garrett was flinging his arms around in an attempt to get every dog and scientist off of him. When he turned and saw Kendall screaming and curling up into a ball he yelled for her.

"KENDALL! NO!" He saw a dog going after her. He ran over to her as fast as his legs could carry him, which was very fast indeed, and knocked off the dog trying to get at her raw skin. He noticed she had patches of scales all over that were covering her body from any damage the dogs could do. He roared in frustration. He had to keep the dogs off of her and Ruby but how can he do that AND get them all away? That he didn't know.

Kendall screamed as she uncurled and looked herself over. She was quick to cover her breasts and private area, afraid of Garrett seeing her naked; except she wasn't. Her skin had turned into a shield, dark thick rings of protection covering her body. Her breasts were sheilded by skin that protruded from her ribs, holding her breasts like a bra would and her private area was covered by a thick band of skin that wrapped down and around her thighs-what a freak. When she had curled up, they had flayed out and protected her completely, just like an armadillo's armor would. She got to her feet and began to cry. Her beautiful body was ruined.

Garrett looked at Kendall. She was beautiful. He never knew an armadillo lady could look like that. He saw her crying and put his arm around her shoulder. A brief moment of silence, which was only silent in his mind. Soon enough he realized he needed to stop staring and start protecting. He grabbed Kendall's hand and ran her over to where Ruby was.
"Keep that armor up if you can!" He yelled to Kendall. "The darts bouce off me and they should bounce off you too." He explained to her as he scooped Ruby up in his arms. He looked right at Caspian.
"We need to get out of here NOW." He yelled at the boy as he took Kendall's hand once again and lead her away from the fray. Knocking aside dogs and scientists as he ran. His booming voice yelling at them to get out of his way.

(( Sorry! I was asleep ))

A feral snarl ripped its way past Caspian's bared teeth, which themselves had elongated and sharpened themselves, just a fraction, into a rough approximation of human-sized leopard teeth. The dogs stopped for a moment at the sound of the snarl before barking back a challenge, and Caspian slid into a low crouch before leaping into the mass, twisting and clawing and yes, biting, before sheer numbers sent him halfway up a tree nursing a slash on his forearm and his thigh. He looked down on the others, his pupils completely slits now. "Can you climb?" he called, the hint of a growl in his voice. "They don't have night-vision goggles, I think." No, rhinos weren't particularly known for their prowess in climbing trees, nor were armadillos.

Thinking quickly, he leapt back to the ground, trusting in the 'cats always land on their feet' saying, and let loose another thundering snarl that stopped the dogs temporarily in their tracks again before running to the others, eyes wild. "Do you seriously think they're going to move because you tell them to?" he quipped sardonically, running on the adrenaline of the moment. "Give me Ruby, she'll be safer in the trees, concentrate on yourself!"

Kendall felt Garrett grab her hand and blushed, was he seriously asking me if i know how to control it? she thought. She ran her fingertips over her shoulders and chest, feeling the hardened skin that covered her. He was right though, a dart came out of no were and she blocked it with her forearm. the dart bounced... Kendall smiled and let go of his hand, catching up to him with confidence. "I have an idea, then we run" She jumped into Garretts arms and pulled herself into a ball as tightly as she could. Her head was tucked so far within her chest but she felt like he body was made to do it. Her legs curled in and under and her plating seemed to form a ball around her.

"Throw me!"

Garrett agreed with Caspian immediately. He knew the trees were no place for a rhino and an armadillo, so he gently placed Ruby in Caspians arms, hoping he wasn't making a mistake. When he turned back to Kendall she was smiling. He smiled back but then she jumped in his arms and curled up in a ball and told him to throw her.

'Throw her? Is she crazy?' He thought to himself. His smile turned into a frown but he thought maybe she knew what she was doing now that she had her armor. So the threw. He threw her as hard and as gently as he could. Like a bowling ball made of flesh and impenetrable armor. She flattened a few scientists and knocked over a couple more, including some dogs. He ran after her yelling and punching anything that got in his way. When he caught up to her he scooped her up in her ball form, kept running and yelled.

"ONE MORE TIME KENDALL OK?" Letting her lack of uncurling being her answer he threw her for a second time. Another devistating ball of armor smacked into the scientists. He was afraid she would be hurt from all that rolling so he followed, picking her up again. This time he just held onto her.

"All done sweetie, time to come out of your ball." He whispered to her. He was terrified she wouldn't open up. He could carry her for days but he wanted to know she was alright. He continued running hoping that Caspian and Ruby were OK. He didn't have time to look after them as he ran through the trees and brambles heading for the mountain they had seen during the day. It was still very dark and he could barely make out 10 feet in front of him. He needed Kendall to wake up if for no other reason than to lead them in the darkness.

A rhinoceros and an armadillo, Caspian told himself, even as he slung Ruby over his shoulder (mentally apologising for the rough treatment, though as she was unconscious, and it wasn't like he was ogling her arse anyway). They'll be be fine.

Trusting to the other two to make a sufficient enough diversion that he wouldn't be stuck with those darts, he made his way up the tree, and laid Ruby down beside him on a particularly thick branch that was high enough that they were covered from everyone down below. His arm and leg were still bleeding sluggishly, and he took off his shirt and tore it apart, using the cleanest parts to bind up his wounds, before leaning back against the rough bark of the tree-trunk and trying to get his breathing under control.

"Wake up," he muttered under his breath, glancing over at the girl before studying his own hands. The nails had turned darker, and grown unexpectedly longer and pointed. Experimentally, he curved a hand into a vague approximation of a claw and raked it down the side of the tree, leaving respectably-sized, if not deep, gouges. Caspian smiled. Yes, this was something he could work with.

It was dark, and he was, by now, exhausted, but someone had to keep watch. After all, he wasn't sure they were out of danger, and Ruby's powers were all but useless at night. With a quiet sigh, he shifted her gently so that she wouldn't roll off, and sat straighter up, ears pricked for unfamiliar noise and eyes unceasingly searching the night.

Her eyes fell open steadily, and her head tilted in a side as the digital device in her ear coursed through her hearing. She tapped onto it lightly and heard the calling from the computerized device on the other end. "Accept the call from Officer 142" The voice made it's way and she rolled her eyes and looked aside with a sigh.
"Accepted." There was a slight pause before the other voice appeared on the other side.
"Hey cutie." It made her want to wretch but she just scowled down to the branch above her, whilst her back rested against the tree trunk.
"What is it Jason? Just get to the point will you. No, for the last time, I will not 'accompany you on a night of romance, lust and love.'" She smirked to herself and listened to the lengthy sigh of disappointment from the officer on the other end of the line.
"Well, looks like it's your turn anyway now. They've taken down the hounds and decoy's. All proven positive, especially number 4." Number 4 was what they had named the Armadillo girl. It seemed she had accessed her abilities further. Cecile just lightly tapped the device and let out a laugh before her body agilely fell from the tree and landed directly on the balls of her feet, balancing her fall with her palm she looked up soon after scanning the area via her thermal vision. Noticing them further in the distance her feet took her as fast as she could run, as she passed on-going greenery in the forest her suit allowed her to shape into the area's as it reflected off the image and colour of her surroundings.

In upcoming closer her body acrobatically took itself off into the air, and within the air she withdrew her weapons. In landing heavily on the ground there was a series of rolls, kicks and flips against the mechanic dogs and decoy scientists which had been testing them. Her blades struck through their iron bodies revealing broken wires sparking off to the sides, the sounds of their voices turning into robotic mush as they grew deeper and eventually sounded off with a series of beeps and such. She swung her fair hair on top of her head in it's neat pony tail behind her head, and then finally spun around and directed her sword to the final dog in stationary position, destroying it. It took seconds. Her face turned it's way directing it over to the group of those around her standing around looking panicked and out of breathe. She noticed the girl had indeed got a slight hang over her abilities. Bringing her hand down to her mask she pulled it from her face and looks over to the people with a slight glare, expectant. Swinging her swords back into the cross sheath upon her back, and resting her hands on her exeptionally toned figure. The curves really showed up in the black catsuit which covered her from neck down, outlining the
voluptuous curves in her body.

Kendall uncurled but she wished she hadn't. Garrett was still holding her tightly, and his body felt warm and comforting against her skin. She wrapped her arm around his neck and looked into his face while he watched the mysterious woman. She narrowed her eyes in jealousy as she watched the 'glimmer' in his eye. the same 'glimmer' he had when he looked at her. She jumped down and walked closer to the woman.

"who are you?"
