A Lark Is Not Always A Bird...

Kiss and Hug...

Life is not a roleplay game.......

It may have felt like one, in this moment, for Kimba. Something purely out of some person's wild imagination, flung down on a page. Or tick-tacked out on a computer keyboard. Method didn't matter. Kimba presently lived with the results of what Real Life threw at him, all within the last twenty-four hours. Less than that, in fact. Unlike a roleplay, Life came with consequences. No walking away from the written word and the decisions made.

His life. His choices.

Not only him affected, but her. Future offspring. Others they and their offspring would affect just by living. "No man is an island." True, even though he wasn't a "man". Just another living, sentient being living his life as all living things did. He could trip over a turtle and bite his tongue off just by stepping out the door today. In a way, he felt like he already had. Or should have.

Him and her, still in that awkwar*.......

Kimba had watched Avira gather up the pictures, sort them, put some in her bag. His ears kept going back and forth, tail's tip a-twitch as he rubbed her "kiss"... a tingle sparked on his nose's end. A towel of his own, to replace the one he'd given to her. Watched her dry as he, himself, did so. Though he started with his tail, which helped the twitch, and worked his way up to his mane, only a slight hesitation as he dried his crotch. With her around, he had to be careful...

... "Yes, we will..."

... and then all caution got thrown to the winds. And Kimba found he did fit. Quite well, in fact. Yes, Avira's hug took the wind out of his lungs. Blew away his doubts as her kiss hadn't quite done. Stirred his hormones into a swirl, again.

He melted into her embrace. Buried his own face into her shoulder, so he could breathe in her scent...

... and hum his own delight.

She held him at arms length for a minute, eyeing him suspiciously before licking his nose directly, her tongue going in a smooth swatch over all four of his nostrils and leaving the end of his muzzle wet and she smiled, ruffing up the fur on top of his head and slinking out the arching doorway or the bathroom and into other parts of the house, presumably following her memory of the building and heading outside to get some fresh air, satchel slung over her shoulder.

As she strode from the room Kimba was in with a sway in her hips and a flick at the end of her tail periodically, she turned and look over her shoulder for a moment before going on her way, clearly expecting him to follow her at some point or another.

"Well, we'd better get going on our adventure then? Wouldn't want to keep your lady waiting. Or my family for that matter, we have a nice walk ahead of us. Just you, me, and nature."

She flashed another sweet and tender smile his way before practically prancing along, a bit of a spring in her step as though she were simply elated to be going on a journey with someone to accompany her in her explorations. She rarely left the homeworld because believe it or not, she was a little bit afraid of leaving, but she never told anyone that, Kimba might be the first to find out...

Nature Boy...

Kimba found himself held at arms length, her examining him... well, perfectly natural in those seconds for him to eye her as well, ears turned a slight ways back. Perfectly natural for ears to flick forwards, tail to stiffen, fur to ruffle all over when she gave him such an... involved "nose-washing". Natural for a male to respond in a "male" fashion to such intense and surprising stimulation. Never in his life had he ever experienced anything like this! Yes, when still a very young kit, his mother had been quite thorough in her tongue washings.

But Avira was not his mother. And he was a mature... maturing male. The whole dynamic, quite different. Yes. Nature at work.

Muzzle's end wet, scalp under mane still a-tingle with her touch, Kimba did his best to regain his "composure"... so, yes, at some point.......

....... well, what with Avira's words and all... ohhh, yes! that all!... he did indeed walk nicely ahead, though not sure if he'd trip over his own feet in the attempt. Just her, him, and Nature. Yes, he could do that. He could do that very well. Even with his head floating in the clouds right now. Him, so focused on her, when he followed her out, through his workshop, he didn't even notice the note from Thoee and his returned tools... the ones he'd taken off and forgotten about, last night. Left in Thoee and Deen's backyard. Didn't need his tools on this trip!

"Yes, we'd better get going... Nature's always a good thing to bring along......."

He couldn't help the silly, sotted grin on his face as he followed her out his front door, damp towels left behind.......

Avira could think of only one word to describe Kimba right now, adorable. Adorable because of the goofy little grin he wore, and the way he bristled up when she so diligently licked his nose the way she had and he stiffened up, she knew perfectly well the effects she had on him and she was exploiting her power and femininity in every way she could, she was a horrible tease...

She smiled, a warm and cheerful kind of smile that openly displayed her enthusiasm to finally be going back out into nature, and with such a charming male no less, one she fully intended to spend lots of time with and possibly become mated to in the future. An idea for naming a litter of kits nagging at the back of her mind, she scribble down experimental names later... yes, save it for later.

Anybody seeing them strolling along together would look at them and see a couple of Nism youth that were perfectly and completely smitten with one another, what with the way Avira kept brushing shoulders with him, her tail swaying behind her and occasionally winding around his only to release it and start acting all coy again. The edge of this 'town' wasn't far off, and Avira seemed to know exactly where she was going as she darted forwards and into the wood, diving straight into the underbrush.

Maybe Kimba could find a way to get her into some mud while they were out here...

Goofy Little Grin...

Kimba could think of many words to describe Avira. Or could have, had he been in his "right" mind. Yes, "smitten" fit his present state to perfection. So much so, if a porcupine had fallen on his head, he wouldn't have noticed. Probably wouldn't have noticed, even if he'd sat on an open box of razor blades...

... been run over by a truck...

... skewered on a pike...

... struck by lightning.......

Oh, yes! Avira, a horrible tease!

Also funny how he... also had kits on his mind. His dream last night, again in his thoughts. And again, every time she wound her tail around his. Or brushed his shoulder. Or smiled. Or.......

....... darted away into the underbrush.

Kimba couldn't help but shiver, his fluff and grin indeed adorable. If not careful, it could become his permanent state of being. Oh, the sensations dancing over skin, a "tingle" through flesh to bone and back again, blood in the middle all hot and bothered! Zing! of heartbeat!

Catch of breath.

And yes, a dive into underbrush, to catch Avira. If he could. And yes again, find a way to get her into some mud. If only so they could bathe each other, again.......

She seemed to have vanished, but a rustle in the trees gave her away as she crawled through the branches very carefully, only choosing the thicker ones and leaping from one tree to the next. She looked so elegant in the air, bounding through the trees and occasionally pausing to stick her head up through the treetop and get a breath of fresh air before heading on her way again.

She glanced down when she heard Kimba dive in after her, a smile on her orange tinted muzzle. Her eyes twinkled with a mischievous glint as she perched in the tree, pausing to say something before sneaking through the branches, weaving in and out of them with a gracefulness only she possessed.

"Try to keep up sweetheart!"

Sweetheart... that had a nice ring to it, perhaps she'd call him that more often, maybe she'd use other names of endearment on him, see what effect they had. She guessed well enough that he was in a love-struck daze with her, and she wan't any better... Smitten indeed.

Something Realized...

Through his smitten fog, though it seemed he'd forget his head if it wasn't attached, thoughts still worked their way. Him, going over every precious little detail, before and after Rass and Prim. So yes, "Sweetheart!" had a nice ring to it, indeed. It had such a nice ring, the sound of it rang through his brain. And made him realize something important...

... he remembered Avira handling her satchel, pictures stored within, over her shoulder as she slipped oh so... as she left for the outside world. But he could not remember her handling his Gift! They couldn't visit her home... her family... without it!

So Kimba froze, so fluffed up, his fur and feathers threatened to shoot straight off in every direction. He almost stumbled. Did indeed look like he'd just stepped on broken glass. He wanted to run back, but he also didn't want to keep her waiting. So...

... "Wonderful...!" Two could play the endearment game... "Do you still have the Gift I gave you...?" He did his best to keep his voice from cracking under load. Focused on his inhale, exhale, as each nostril pair flared in turn. Tail and ears and fingers and toes, a-twitch.......

She glanced back at the fluffed up male following her, Avira's mind in just as many directions as Kimba's feathers were. she bounded across to another branch, leaves sprinkling onto the ground from shaking the branch with her weight. She gave a musical laugh, realizing why Kimba seemed so on edge. His Gift. Of course, she hadn't forgotten it. Avira wasn't wearing it, for fear of loosing it on the trip, so she kept it safely stored in her satchel, where she kept all her valuable items.

"Yes, I have it Kimba, don't get you're feathers in a knot."

Another laugh, a leap, a bound, a quite beat from one limb to the next, climbing higher and higher into the trees, her bright orange fluff of a tail the only real indicator of where she was, the color so bright against the dim greens and browns of the forest. There were, of course, flowers on the ground, but none in the trees, so the bright orange splash of color was very... obvious.

Colorful Directions...

It wasn't his feathers all in knots. Just the area right under his belly-button. Or where his belly-button would be, if the "wound" hadn't regenerated just seconds after his umbilical was severed, leaving no mark or scar. Yes, poor Kimba had felt so tight inside... such a sudden weight... the flowers about him had drooped. But at the words "I have it..." he felt that weight lift, so much so, the flowers about him stood straight up, and he felt such relief... no, he hadn't wanted to leave Avira, to take his eyes away from her, but... yes, he would have run back... flown!... to retrieve his Gift. Her Gift. For her.

Not only the flowers felt so light. Kimba danced on his toes for a few brief seconds, then chased after Avira's quite obvious orange brightness...

... eager to catch up.

Wasn't difficult, given her flash and her laughter. And with his pale fur, it wasn't like he also didn't show up his own ivory-furred flashiness amongst the leaves and branches. What was difficult? Planning and executing his maneuver to get ahead of her. Yes, he had to be quick! He had to be.......

....... There!

Suddenly, Avira would find herself leaping straight towards him, perched on a branch ahead of her.......

Avira would gasp, collide with Kimba, wrap her arms around him and coil herself into him from the startling movement as they tumbled to the ground. She would yelp when she hit him, and yelp once more upon falling into the flowers on the ground beneath them in a shower of leaves and petals.

"KIMBA!"

She glared at him, but in a playful manner. Smiling and giggling wild like a school girl in love. She hit his eat but not enough the hurt and then she tried to roll off of him, unsure of how he might react.

While yes the fall had shaken her a bit, she brushed it off along with the leaves and petals showered too her fur.

THUD! ...

Nism tended to brush many things off, especially those things that involved falling out of trees and going THUD! on the ground. So, like a pair of toons, Kimba and Avira didn't break bones or otherwise suffer any serious injury. Still funny, though. What with her yelping, him, seeing stars. Yes, poor Kimba had the wind knocked out of his poor lungs. No, this hadn't been his intent! He'd planned things quite different...

... but his execution had been off a tad.

Her, colliding with his chest, rather than him, tapping her as she leapt by, and yelling... "You're it!"

Well, best-laid plans, and all that.

Kimba spat out some flower petals he'd managed to somehow get in his mouth. Then Avira gave him a whack to the ear, and tried to break their physical contact. Again, being Nism, he brushed off the impact, regained his breath, flicked his "abused" ear... and grinned...

... "No, don't try to get away!" He reached out, wrapped his arms around her like she had him, and held her close in the moment... "I caught you fair and square... you owe me a kiss!"

To seal his "demand", his tail entwined hers.......

Avira squirmed in his hold eventually giving up and sighing in defeat. She turned over in his arms so she was chest to chest with him, giving him a wet lick over his nose, and kissing him with a cute little smooching movement right on his crest, that little patch on his forehead right between his eyes, tapping hers against his and feeling the spark between them.

But then she pulled away, wiggling out of his arms, and threw some flower petals at him, the pink and purple things falling on his un-groomed mane and getting all in his fur, she thought it was adorable and she laughed, scaling the nearest tree and waiting for him, perched elegantly on a branch.

"You goof. Come up here so we can keep moving, we can't stop every ten minutes for a kiss."

Goof Move...

To say Kimba enjoyed Avira's kiss would be an understatement. To be honest, Kimba had no words for what he was feeling... spark, perhaps... indeed, yes! But only in part. Just very hard to describe the sensation passed through body, mind, soul...

... ohhhhh... ummmmmm.......

Ungroomed mane, yes. Poor flower petals all in fur. Handsome male. If Rass had been there, a flash would have recorded a very sexy pin-up pose. But Rass wasn't present... no camera to make record for posterity... just Avira's laugh to remember. Wonderful sound!

Beautiful female.

Goof... heh. Certainly a goof move, with a bit of pain attached. Followed by...

... "Goof?" Kimba didn't need an invitation. Perched beside her in a flash, all fluff and grin and flower petals, with a bit of musk on the side. What with them having been so recently chest to chest. And... "I can live with that... don't know if I can live without a kiss every ten minutes......." His grin turned mock-contemplative... "Guess we'll have to learn how to kiss on the run."

She gave him another lick, this one right over his crest before she leapt to the next closest branch, prancing through the trees again. it was her preferred method of travel apparently, instead of walking on the ground so much as she liked to jump through the treetops. She was so graceful and elegant, she didn't know what happened when the branch under her snapped and she went tumbling down from a particularly high tree.

She crashed into a pile of leaves and petals, sticking her head up dazedly and looking up whee the snapped branch hung from the side of the tree she'd just been in. She was very... confused... Where was Kimba, did he fall too?

"What even? How? What!? I NEVER FALL. HOW? How did this happen!!!"

She was ranting now, her tail slashing through the leaves and petal angrily.

Snap Chat...

For his words, she gave him another lick, right on his forehead badge... trail of saliva, trail of chi. Like being kissed twice in the same place, at the same time. Kimba let Avira prance away through the trees. Gave her a head start, while his own head settled back on his shoulders. Figuratively speaking. A shake. A shiver. Then their chase renewed.......

....... for about ten seconds.

Kimba almost fell off his own branch, the one Avira had just used, before her next leap...

... ended quite unexpectedly.

So, no, Kimba didn't fall, too. But he did indeed wince. Intake his breath quite sharply. And fluff up all over in sympathy. First their mutual crash. Now this! Not long at all into their trip, and it seemed "somebody" didn't want them to go. Or at least wanted to delay their progress. Of course, it had been a slender branch. Avira had, perhaps, let too much of her weight loose. Then again, with his large, sensitive ears perked alert and forwards, he did hear a sound coming from the tree. And living in a tree as he did, he'd learned quite a few things about said trees. This particular tree species, along with the buzz-click sound... yes, to be sure, he leapt over, clung to the side of the tree near where the branch dangled, precarious...

... birrzz-beetle nest, drilled in the crook of the branch, right where said branch had snapped. Avira, ranting below. She'd probably missed seeing him arrive just after she'd looked up.

No, the beetles weren't any happier than Avira. The tree probably wasn't all that happy, either. But...

... Kimba was quick to leave the bugs to their business. Avira, not physically hurt by such a fall. Though at her use of the words "I NEVER FALL"... well, he couldn't help hurking a little in amusement, given she had indeed...

... "I seem to remember you falling for me."

Yes, there he was, wrapping her in a comfort hug...

... "I think we both know how that works." Yes, he pulled back, looked her in the eyes, grinned, ears turned back... "If we can't stop every ten minutes for a kiss, then we shouldn't stop every ten seconds just because a branch breaks." He gave her a return lick to her forehead "crest".

Then he helped her to stand... "We should keep our feet on solid ground."

She cleaned out her fur of petals and leaves, until it was pristine again, smoothing it out and fluffing it a little, very self aware of her grooming, as always. Avira was quite the meticulous creature indeed. She shivered a little when Kimba licked her crest, but it was a good shiver, a sensual kind of shiver than tickled her spine and curled her toes.

She huffed at his saying 'we should keep out feet on solid ground' when she knew she could travel faster through the trees. If she had wings she[d just fly, but Nism didn't have wings as far as she knew. But she didn't argue with him, she didn't need to fall again and possibly hurt herself. Not that hurting oneself caused many problems.

"Alright. But if you dare get mud on me I'll have your feathers for it."

She didn't mean to follow through with her threat to remove his fan of feathers for getting her muddy in the possible future, but she knew how to crack a pretty cruel joke when she wanted to.

Learning Experience...

Throughout the Universes, pretty much every creature experienced relationship problems. Some solved it with a wham! bam! thank you ma'am! approach. Some just ate their partners, afterwards. Or had other weird, perhaps wonderful ways to solve the issue. And some just had to give it time. Procreation could be a complicated thing. Complicated rituals. Licking. Perhaps biting. Or at least the desire to bite. Perhaps due to other desires, frustrated. Followed by unexpected events.

Straw that broke the camel's back, and all that.

Perhaps Avira's "cruel joke" just came from such. Her personality, coupled with recent events...

... Kimba of course had his own personality, coupled with recent events. And he'd lost it, himself, not that long ago. So he didn't take Avira's "cruel joke" as cruel. Short as he'd known her, he'd learned enough to know how she worked. And he very much wanted to learn more. He'd seen how Thoee and Deen had built their own relationship, to the point they now had two kits. Thoee, once so formal and serious, now relaxed and able to laugh freely, while still being formal. Growth...

... how successful relationships worked.

So Kimba didn't allow Avira's huff to discourage him. He did give a very quick "cross my heart, hope to die" gesture, but with equal quickness, and in an effort to aid her hurt pride, he slipped in beside her as she started to walk away. Brushed shoulder to shoulder and hip to hip...

... "It's difficult being this close when I have to chase you through the trees."

Yes, he gave her a reason to be happy. Warm male by her side, still dressed in a few flower petals and other bits of nature. All fur, feathers, scales, there for her to look at as much as she pleased. And yes, now close enough for her to touch. Him, with no objections.......

Avira snuggled up to Kimba, rubbing her side along his and nipping his ear, tugging on it a lit in a playful manner before leaping into a bush and vanishing even with her brightly colored splashed on tail, cheeks, and ears. She seemed to disappear even though she wasn't hard to spot...usually. But now she was well hidden, clearly playing a game of Hide and Seek with Kimba.

Her mood had lightened already, she was fickle indeed, but Kimba had done a good job in aiding the lift of her mood. She giggled from one direction, and poked him from another, keeping herself well hidden from Kimba as she taunted and teased.

"Come find me lover-boy."

Then she slunk off, heading towards a little surprise of her own.

Hide And Squeak...

Nism could indeed "vanish" when they wished. Even to the perceptions of other Nism. If they so chose. Then again, Avira may have just been very good at hiding herself, bright fur and all. Just before this happened... yes, Kimba returned her snuggle. Took her ear-biting playfulness with a mock wince of false pain. Just for the effect. And yes, fickle indeed. Kimba had well learned how quickly she changed mood.

He also learned just how delightful her giggle could be... and that he liked to be poked. Especially in this game. Yes again, another challenge!

Lover-boy.......

This label sent a zing! through his whole body. He would find her... catch her... even if he had to give both nads in the effort. After all, they would grow back.......

....... and so, Kimba slunk off after her, all four nostrils a-flair in aid. One sense Nism couldn't well hide from each other. Though he did find slinking through bushes gave him a personal, experiential demonstration of the term "bush-whacking".

How Avira managed to get very far without going "Ouch", Kimba didn't know.

Avira was practically tip-toeing through the grass and flowers, careful not to make too much noise. She knew where Kimba was mostly, her nose giving him away. She also figured Kimba could smell her as well, she was willing to give him a chance at least, at finding her.

Once she was where she wanted to be, she climbed up the rocks of the little waterfall she had lead Kimba too, and perched there in hiding where he wouldn't be able to see her, hear her over the rush of water i the open area surrounded by thick forest on all sides, a mountain nearby behind them and the waterfall hiding a cozy little cave.

All she had to do now was wait for him to find her...
