65TH ANNUAL HUNGER GAMES [ Sign-Ups + OOC ]

Every year, the Capitol ties us up like animals. They rope us in according to our ages, our genders, they pick us out at random. Two of us, from every district, one girl, one boy. We are sent to fight for their entertainment, forced to kill each other as our families, our friends, the whole nation watches. Only two come out victorious, bringing honor, glory, and a year of supplies to our districts. Punishment, they tell us, this is our punishment. For rebelling all those years ago. Their children, their grandchildren, their great grandchildren, all doomed to the same fate of fighting like rabid animals for the promise of their life and their wealth. Some think its no more than a game. Some think it's a living nightmare. But we all have one thing in common; we're going to end up in that arena with fear in our hearts and knives at our throats.

Will you walk out victorious, or die at the hands of your fellow tributes?

red This roleplay takes place before canon events, and in no way shape or form will your characters have any relations with any canon characters. There is only the past rebellion that caused the Hunger Games. You don't have to know anything about the series to join, as we are not going to exactly follow the canon plotlines. You will be forced into an 'arena' with your fellow tributes.There are many things that can, and will, be your demise. Not only will you fear those forced into the games with you, but the arena is also full of dangerous animals, elements, and twists. If you prove to not be entertaining enough, the Gamemakers may kill you off. Only two of you will walk out alive.

[ DISTRICT ONE : THE LUXURY DISTRICT ]
» career district

DISTRICT ONE is one of the wealthiest districts of Panem, it's primary industry being the manufacturing of luxury items for the capitol, and as a result, is one of the favored districts in the eyes of the Capitol. These luxuries include anything from perfumes to jewels. DISTRICT ONE also tends to pack the most punch in the games, as it's not rare for their children are taught that the games bring glory to their district and their families. The richer families of the district often train their children from a young age to becomes CAREERS, or perfect soldiers, to volunteer for the games.

[ DISTRICT TWO : THE MASONRY DISTRICT ]
» career district

DISTRICT TWO is one of the largest and wealthiest districts of Panem, it's main industry being masonry. This is also where most Peacekeepers and recruited, trained, and where most of the country's weapons originate from. They take great pride in producing the most winners out of all the other districts, as they train their children from a young age to compete in the hunger games. This is not always the case, but more often than not, the tributes hailing from DISTRICT TWO are more than ready.

[ DISTRICT THREE : THE TECHNOLOGY DISTRICT ]

DISTRICT THREE had previously been one of the wealthier districts but now is slowly succumbing to abject poverty. This district produces many great techonlogical advances, as well as provides the capitals with anything from televisions to computers. Many of the people living in DISTRICT THREE work in factories and are well adept in engineering.

[ DISTRICT FOUR : THE FISHING DISTRICT ]
» career district

DISTRICT FOUR is one of the wealthiest districts of Panem. It's industry is fishing, which is useful for tributes in the Hunger Games as they have experience using nets and tridents, making fishing hooks from scratching, swimming, and hunting sea life. Being one of the wealther districts, DISTRICT FOUR tends to produce Career Tributes, those who volunteer to participate in the Hunger Games after training for it their entire lives.

[ DISTRICT FIVE : THE POWER DISTRICT ]

DISTRICT FIVE is responsible for producing power and electricity for the entire nation. They are not entirely wealthy nor are they entirely poor, the district stuck in the middle between two such worlds. They are not known to produce CAREERS, since it is illegal to do so.

[ DISTRICT SIX : THE TRANSPORTATION DISTRICT ]

DISTRICT SIX produces the nations' transportation, such as high-speed trains, hovercraft, etc. Ironically, they have little love for travel. DISTRICT SIX is known for being one of the more rebelious of all the districts, and drug addiction is an increasing problem here, especially among the victors who wish the forget and numb the pain the Hunger Games has caused.

[ DISTRICT SEVEN : THE LUMBER DISTRICT ]

DISTRICT SEVEN is a middle class district, and provides lumber and paper for the nation. It's mostly covered in lush forests, and it's people are mostly hard-working and down to Earth.

[ DISTRICT EIGHT : THE TEXTILE DISTRICT ]

DISTRICT EIGHT is a lower class district, it's industry being the production of textiles and clothing. They have at least one factory primarily used for making Peacekeeper uniforms. DISTRICT EIGHT is painfully urban, factories clogging the skies and barely a blade of grass in sight. Like most lower class districts, they harbor a festering dislike for the capitol.

[ DISTRICT NINE : THE GRAIN DISTRICT ]
DISTRICT NINE is a middle class district, responsible for producing grain. It's people are hard working, and the district has many factories, most likely for grain processing.

[ DISTRICT TEN : THE LIVESTOCK DISTRICT ]

DISTRICT TEN is one of the lower class districts of Panem. It's industry is livestock and provides beef, pork, chicken, etc for the capitol. Most of the district is farm land, as they produce countless numbers of livestock.

[ DISTRICT ELEVEN : THE AGRICULTURE DISTRICT ]

DISTRICT ELEVEN is one of the lower class districts of Panem. Their industry is all things agriculture, ranging from orchards, to fields of wheat, to cotton. Almost everything they grow goes to the capitol, despite the growing problem of starvation throughout the district.

[ DISTRICT TWELVE : THE MINING DISTRICT ]

DISTRICT TWELVE is the poorest of all the thirteen districts in Panem. It's located near the mountains, and it's main industry is coal mining. The people here are hard workers but are barely paid off for all that they produce, as most are living in painful poverty.

- You do not need to read the books/watch the movies to join! Any of us who have are more than willing to answer questions.
- You are allowed three characters maximum. One character being a mentor (a previous victor from the games), and two tributes. (Preferably one male and one female). Your tributes cannot be in the same district.
- As previously stated, this roleplay will not follow canon events. Your characters will not in any way know of any of the characters from the books.
- Please, please keep in mind that your character has a strong possibility of not making it to the end. Even when my characters die, I'll be stalking the thread from afar to make sure everything is running okay.
- You can reserve a spot for one week, however, after that it will open up for somebody else to take.
- Posting expectation is at least one or two paragraphs per character, once, preferably twice a week. If you can't meet these expectations, please don't join! I'd like to keep this running as smoothly as possible for a roleplay in which everyone dies. If something comes up, please message me and we'll work something out.
- If you're unheard of from for at least two weeks, your character will be killed off from natural causes.
- Keep this realistic. A smaller, petite character won't have as good of a fighting chance as a career who has trained his/her entire life. Children will most likely not make it as long, either.
- Please be gentle, I've only GM'd my own rps like, twice. Just lemme know if I forget to add you to the cast list or anything!
- If you've read the rules, please add 'Mockingjay' at the end of your character sheet.
- Be friendly with each other! Talk out relations and plot ideas. Alliances will be formed and broken. Romances will blossom. Enemies will be made. And this is encouraged! Feel free to clog up the OOC thread with this stuff.

Marks: A long, thin scar on the side of his face courtesy of a training accident. Julius has many other scars across his body, mostly on his hands and legs from carelessness or small accidents.

Eyes: Dark brown

Hair: Black, coarse and often worn a little messy.

Dress: Mostly preferring dark colors, the only piece of clothing that Julius is truly attached to is an old, leather jacket that once belonged to his father. He wears it almost everywhere and although the collar and cuffs are beginning to fray slightly, he could never bear to part with it. The rest of his wardrobe consists of sturdy clothes, thick pants and cotton shirts, the occasional sweater along with an old pair of boots. Julius doesn't consider himself very fashion forward.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Outer Traits: Reserved but always observing, Julius doesn't say much unless asked. He is a rather serious person, preferring to study and train rather than sneak off with the other kids his age. It's a matter of preparedness, he says, often in a lecture to his younger siblings, whom he feels personally responsible for. His own life choices have encouraged a large ego and more than enough self-confidence to last a lifetime.

Inner Traits: Beneath an often stoic exterior lies a quick, imaginative and strategic mind that Julius uses to get himself in and out of all kinds of situations. Although he doesn't appear to attach to or openly favor any one person, Julius is fiercely loyal to the people in his life and would lay down his life for just about any of them. While he often tries to deny himself the luxury of feeling, there are times when he is highly emotional and can no longer compartmentalize.

Unlike many children in his home district, he doesn't think it would be all that fun to take an innocent life--but he has always done incredibly well with blending into his surroundings.

Strengths: Julius has a strong upper body that allows him to lift heavy objects over his head, adeptly handle a sword and throw weapons great distances. He has very good aim and rarely misses a target. When distance is no longer on his side, Julius is comfortable taking more than a few punches and throwing some of his own.

Weaknesses: Inflexible, and much too tall to effectively hide, Julius will be forced to defend himself at all times. He is also afraid of heights and is partially deaf in one ear from yet another training mishap.

Backstory: The second child of Ruby, a seamstress, and Slate, a Peacekeeper, Julius was born just a few years after his older brother, Richter. The two boys grew up alongside one another, sharing friends, activities and an incredibly close bond that only grew stronger as the family continued to grow. Over the years, Richter's interests in the Hunger Games and the need to one day call himself a Victor became Julius' interests as well and he began to follow his brother to the training center in order to spend more time with him. It was never something that Julius took very seriously, at least not until the 62nd Hunger Games.

At the age of fourteen, Julius watched Richter volunteer on Reaping Day, and a quick goodbye at the train station left him with nothing more than a promise to return. The Games were brutal that year, but Richter made it to the end with the girl from Four. The entire family was convinced that he was going to come home, but one mistake lead to disaster and Julius was forced to watch his idol and hero have his throat cut while in the comfort of his own home. Worse, he had to smile through that girl's victory tour and listen to her speech when she came to visit Two. It was horrible, disturbing and worst of all, it proved that the Games were for nothing.

Most would have chosen to stop training, quietly rebel and refuse to participate in the Capitol's charade but Julius convinced himself that he could beat the system. If his brother had only been more prepared, he would have come home. Julius took the next three years to hone his skills, forcing himself to train in Richter's memory and when the next Reaping came around and his name echoed through the district, Julius was ready.

His promise wouldn't be so empty, he would come home.

She also tends to be sarcastic and snarky, hating when people act like an idiot or state the obvious. Medea can also be very witty though most the time she only makes herself laugh. Backstory: Medea didn't have a pretty childhood. Her mother died giving birth to her and left her father to take care of Medea, tho he didn't really take care of her. Most the time Medea would stay inside and draw but, there were few times when she would go outside her house to train with daggers. Usually all kids were trained in preparation for the games, Medea being one of them. She didn't have many friends and the friends she did have she hated but, put up with them.

When Medea's name was drawn she thought someone else was going to volunteer since that's what usually happened but, no one did, so off to the games she went. During the games she made an alliance with the other careers, but in the end she won by killing her allies in there sleep and hunting down the rest of the tributes one by on.

Outer Traits: Bubbly. That's the first thing people notice about Amilia. She seems to always look at the world with optimism, like there's a greater meaning to the world. Though right after that people usually start to avoid her since the second she starts talking they realize she's extremely talkative and tends to ramble. Amilia's also moody and easily annoyed. Her moods will change so fast it makes people think she's PMSing. Not to mention if anyone annoys her she will avoid them like the plague. Amila can also be quite sarcastic, especially when people state the obvious.

Inner Traits: Unlike her personality Amilia's scared. She doesn't want to die but, she slightly accepted it will happen no matter what she does. Plus, she's really jealous of the careers and people that live in the capitol. Amilia wishes she didn't live in one of the districts, though she is happy with how her life has been. She can also be insecure at times like when people are staring at her or she's looking in the mirror. Oh and don't make her mad she will have an internal rampage if you do.

Backstory: Amilia's backstory is a simple one. She grew up in district 8 with her two little siblings, usually looking after them when there parents went to work. At school she got moderate grades though they were slightly lower than what her parents wanted. Most of her day's she play chase with her siblings or practice dancing, something that seemed to always help clear her mind.

When her name was drawn she had no idea how to react so, she started crying. Amilia didn't want to leave he little brother and sister, not to mention she was deathly afraid her brother's name was going to be drawn but, thankfully it wasn't.

Dress: Despite her love of the outdoors, which often places her in pants, t-shirts and an outer layer of flannel, Orna is actually quite girly. When given the chance, she cleans up nicely, decorating her hair with ribbons, or an heirloom silver band. Color wise, she prefers lights, or anything green that reflects the tall trees surrounding her home.

P E R S O N A L I T Y

Outer Traits: Friendly and generally easy going, there isn't much that truly bothers Orna. Although she prefers solitude and walking among nature, she's not the type to turn away company. Her heart is large and there are times when empathy and sympathy become her downfall. Some would go as far to say that she is naive and much too trusting, but Orna disagrees and does her best to see the good in everyone.

Inner Traits: On a deeper level, Orna is a little more difficult to get to know. Despite always trying to look on the bright side, the idealist inside of her is self-conscious and carries around a lot of unnecessary guilt. She is prone to depression and low points make her more likely to take a joke or slight very personally. While she doesn't usually lash out, episodes of high emotional stress leave her feeling even worse than before. At the end of the day, Orna just wants to make everyone happy, even at the expense of herself.

S T A T S

Strengths: Orna is a very skilled climber. Her lightweight frame allows her to easily reach the tops of the old trees that surround District 7 and if she had it her way, she would stay longer than just the afternoon. Her ability to stay comfortable among the branches allows her to blend in and go unnoticed until she is ready to come down. Her talent for painting could easily serve as further camouflage.

Weaknesses: Orna can barely swim and is afraid of the water after nearly drowning as a young girl. Her slim frame isn't ideal for close combat and anyone larger or stronger could overpower her without much effort.

Backstory: Born during a very harsh winter to a couple who never believed they would have children, Orna has been the center of her parent's world since day one. She is very close with her mother and father, always feeling safe with them and not minding the way they fussed over her, their many rules, or the way they made the outside world seem so scary and big. Orna was never intimidated by the trees just outside her front door, however, and she began climbing and exploring at a young age. At first it was just to tease her mother, to see how high she could go before the woman's nervous laughter turned into demands to come down, but Orna found freedom in the breeze above the district and it soon became her favorite activity.

Years passed and soon, Lavra learned that she was pregnant again. Orna, who had always wanted a sibling to be close to and protect, was overjoyed and excited, only eight at the time. The concept of death wasn't something that she was acquainted with, but unfortunately, Orna found out the hard way. Her mother lost the baby prematurely and nearly lost her life in the process. It was a difficult time for the small family, and the consequences reached far beyond the sadness the three of them felt. Lavra and Yvo became more strict with their only child, scolding her for wandering too far or doing anything they deemed too dangerous.

Of course, nearly drowning in that lake didn't ease their concern any.

Again, the years passed and Orna continued to grow. She went through school easily, flying under the radar of most bullies, and even made a few good friends in the process. Their families were large, and while the Hunger Games always loomed heavily over them, Orna never felt the same. With only three people to provide for, she was never forced to take tesserae--which was why she was so shaken to hear the Escort call her name. The odds clearly weren't in her favor, and now, Orna has to put on a brave face and try her hardest to get back to her parents.

How would they ever go on with another dead child?

However Hyung didn't have to raise Jitae alone, as other members of the district supported the family, leading Jitae to grow up considering all of the district his family. When Jitae turned 12 he got a job in maintenance alongside his father.
