War Against Werecats

Somehow, she ended up on the couch with her. He felt a little embarrassed, since he was completely nude, but she seemed to dismiss it. Catherine took a heavy blow to her head, so there was probably not enough mental capacity for her to care. Him being safe was probably the most important thing to her right now.

A tender hand touched the top of her head, his fingers combing through that vibrant, blue hair. "Don't worry about him right now. He won't bother us for a while," he said in a soothing voice, a firm promise behind his words. Catherine was a strong, feisty girl but didn't seem to have very good stamina. Winston took a lot out of her.

Daniel's tears lessened, however his embrace did not. He kept her close, eyes watchful of the bleeding wound on her head. Since she wasn't tending to it right now, he used his medicine-like saliva to help heal it, indifferent towards the flavour of her blood.

Fortunately, or unfortunately, Catherine had very sweet tasting blood, and potent too. She however, decided to take Daniel's advice and simply not worry about anything except being close to him, the fear of Winston vanishing from her mind completely. She loved Daniel and finally was able to admit it to herself. "Daniel... I think. . .we should get you patched up, you look to be in more pain than me... " She knew how to live with head-wounds, she'd had a few in her life time, that was certain. She picked up the first aid kit again and incredibly gentle, began applying what was needed to each of his injuries. Not too many needed stitches thankfully, so she was able to peroxide most of them and wrap them in gauze bandages to prevent infection. But after he was patched up she went right back to resting against him, careful of his injuries. Somehow, her head stopped hurting as bad, and she thanked him by keeping him close to her for extra warmth. Gradually, she even managed to doze, worry gone from her face only in sleep. Falling in love was such a dangerous thing,...yet at the same time, she decided it was worth it. She would do what she had to to keep Winston away.

Daniel was brave as she tended to his wounds. The most noise he'd make was a grunt, while tensing in response to alcohol. Catherine's touch was gentle, and loving, so he simply focused on that. It made him all the more pain tolerant... He didn't think it was possible for somebody like her to make him feel stronger. Invincible, even! With her by his side, he felt that he could conquer the world.

He decided to be helpful too, assisting her with the injury on her head. After helping the bleeding stop, he patched up the wound. The marks on her arm were probably almost gone by now. Daniel had a medical saliva, which he used the day she got those cuts, allowing them to heal much faster. That was one attribute he was thankful for. For once, he could do something that wasn't destructive.

Worn out as he felt, he was wide awake. He watched over the slumbering Catherine, his arms forming a tight embrace around her body as they snuggled in the blanket. Extra fabric was set in his lap so she wouldn't have to be bothered with the bare member in between his legs. He figured she'd like more cushion than his solid, muscular body anyway, so most of his skin stayed covered for her sake.

Catherine slept incredibly sound that night, curled up in Daniel's arms. Her wounds quickly healed, and she felt much more relaxed with him close by, though she hoped his injuries wouldn't take too long to heal either. She hoped that Winston would stay away for a long time, though this seemed unlikely. He probably hated her even more now, and Daniel too. What -did- that guy have against Witches....? Or was it more, just anyone Daniel was friends with? type of scene. She didn't want to think about it, not when she felt so relaxed and calm.

In the morning, she had to work, but she had the late afternoon and all of the evening off. Before she woke, she made sure to lend Daniel a nice extra-large t-shirt and shorts before she took off for her job. But after she came home, she wondered if he was still at home, or if he'd gone back to his own place.

The only times Daniel left the couch were to stretch himself or to glance outside. He wore nothing but the giant t-shirt she had given him. It didn't matter to him, how dressed he was. Daniel was a wild animal, so most of his life, he didn't wear clothes. He rarely even used his human form until he moved into this society. Although he fit in pretty well, there were some discomforts in the habits he had to develop.

When Catherine got to her home, Daniel would be curled up on the couch sleeping. He was very tired from yesterday, plus no matter how often he tried to stay awake, he fell asleep when the sun was out. The only times he made himself stay awake was when he had to work. Of course, during those hours, he had coffee to keep him alert.

Hopefully she wouldn't mind him here. Her house was so much warmer and nicer...

Catherine certainly breathed a barely- audible sigh of relief when she found Daniel asleep on her couch. Of course she didn't mind him still in her apartment. She half-hoped he'd eventually move in with -her- but that would be something he could decide on his own, she certainly wasn't the demanding, bossy or even really pushy type, and let people make their own choices, only offering advice when asked. She thought Daniel looked really handsome fully asleep and without any worry or stress on his face. He looked good awake too, but his relaxed, sleeping pose almost reminded her of a sleeping kitten, which... now that she knew he was, felt slightly ironic to say the least. She smiled, seeing him comfortable, and had even purchased new clothes from the mall on her way home from work. She left them on the floor by her sofa, and went to the kitchen, very quietly getting a can of soda and a granola bar. She didn't feel like cooking just yet, she'd ask Daniel what he'd want to eat whenever he woke up. For now, she ate her snack, and changed in her bedroom out of her work clothes to comfortable t-shirt and jeans. Barefoot, she occupied the living room leather armchair and curled up to take a nap of her own. Already she felt a million times safer in Daniel's company than she would have if he'd gone back to his apartment.

Daniel did hear her enter, but made no reaction to it. There was no threat and no rush to greet her, unless she woke him up, so he kept his eyes shut. The way he slept was almost angelic, an innocent look on his face. Plus, the way he was curled up very much resembled a feline. Soft purrs could even be heard as he breathed during his slumber, a sign he was very content and comfortable.

After a while, he heard munching in the kitchen and then a small form getting comfortable against something leather and plush. One of his eyes opened, watching Catherine as she readied herself for a nap. Instead of waking her, he went back to sleep. He decided he'd visit with her within the next couple of hours. Daniel was in his better moods during the nighttime, anyway.

Catherine woke up, but she continued to let Daniel rest, knowing the sun was going down soon anyway. In fact, he probably had another hour before it turned completely dark. Smiling, she went to her own room and read a book, soon lost in a good sci-fi novel that helped her forget about Winston, his threats, and everything she'd been stressing about. Of course, it also helped that she was thinking more about how cute Daniel looked while he slept...she was tempted to just snuggle with him on the couch... but that might wake him, and she was really reluctant to do that. She did however, put a shield around the house. And no ordinary shield either. If Winston or any other intruding cat tried to sneak in, they'd get a nasty blast of -ice- not just water anymore, right in their faces. The ice would be shot out of the barrier in small icicle forms, like a spray. It would be a very cold shock if they tried to bother her or Daniel tonight. The two of them could pass through the ward just fine, since she'd only trained the ward to guard against specific enemies. But... alas she couldn't keep the ward up forever. It would probably wear out by the end of the next day, she wouldn't have energy left to keep it maintained.

The barrier that Catherine built was sensed instantly. There was no threat pointed in his direction, so he made no physical reactions to it. Daniel could tell she put it up for their safety, probably from Winston. Who could blame her? That monster was determined to wipe out this city as a whole, most likely to build a civilization for him and his pack. It would be just like him to rid the planet of those he despised.

Daniel stirred in his sleep, finally stretching out on the couch while making a yawn. The purrs in his throat quieted down, and he blinked his eyes at the ceiling. A hand went to his face to rub the grogginess from his eyes. "Good morning," he mumbled. These weren't morning hours, but they felt like it to him. Being able to sleep during all that sun felt heavenly for him.

The hand on his face then reached out, digging around the bag of clothing she brought for him. A smile touched his lips as he felt the fabrics and pulled out a pair of jeans, as well as a button up shirt. "Wow, you know me so well already," he laughed, impressed with her selection. Daniel felt like he owed her, but felt he'd wait for the right time to pay her back. Besides, she'd protest if he vocally made that claim.

"I'll be back," he promised, taking the clothes with him to her room with the blanket wrapped around him.

Catherine heard Daniel enter her room and hurried to hug him. "Be careful alright? If.... anything happens, call me." She said firmly, before giving him privacy to change into his clothes. She'd probably worry about him the entire time he was gone, but hopefully nothing would happen. Maybe Winston had a few injuries to nurse himself- she rather hoped he did. She smiled grimly, and could only wait at home while Daniel was out running errands, or working at his job. 'Please let him be safe...' She thought to herself, trying not to think too much of all the possible disasters that could happen to either of them outside the house.
