Seth put his head down as Kuro teleported them back to the hospital. He liked the feel of her hand, but when she pulled it away the anger came surging back. Not at her though. At himself and Lucifer. And the man in the room. He wanted to tell her to ignore Jackal, but it would have probably been pointless. It was darker than when they left so the nurse had probably come to find him missing. He would think of an explanation when the time came. Stumbling back to the bed he did not want to lay down yet since he was enjoying sitting up, as painful as it was, so he sat on the floor and leaned against the bed.
Jackal stood up when the two entered the room. He had been sitting on the windowsill, looking out at the dark sky. Nodding his head at Kuro when she turned to him, he gave her sound advice. "Time for the demonstration. I suggest you don't get involved." With that he strode past her and stopped in front of Seth.
Seth glared at Jack, his dark blue eyes meeting gold. If not already dead he would have killed him. Instead he had to settle for words. "You are so low you have to be someone else's bitch? Also, you never answered my question last time we saw each other. What did you do to your eyes and hair?"
Jackal's eyes darkened at the first question, but he remained in control for the time being. "Unlike you I see nothing wrong in enlisting the help of others to get where I want." The second question control was lost for a few moments as he looked like he was about to lunge at Seth. "I did nothing! Mention my hair again and I will tear your skin off you in shreds." He took a breath in through his nose and regained control. "It was experimentation, but that is not important." A dangerous glint entered Jackal's eyes as he knelt down. "What is important is the demonstration I am about to show your friend. Touch me during this demonstration and I can't promise someone won't get hurt. Speaking of friends, I see a lot of Drustan lately. I am sure he regrets ever killing me."
Seth was about to lunge at Jackal when the warning ran through his mind. Was this part of the demonstration? He didn't know, but he did not want to risk Kuro getting hurt (if that is what Jack had meant by the threat). Instead he kept his whole body tense and tried to harm the man with his eyes. "You fucker. What did you do?"
"What did I do? What will I do? Whatever I want. All I had to do was ask and I was allowed to do whatever I want to that worthless soul of his. It must come as a shock to you to hear that did not become a demon. The things he must have done while living, hmm? From the look on your face that reaper friend of yours was kind enough to hide the truth from you."
Seth stared in dismay. "But he..no." Drustan had been such a good guy. It did not make sense that he would have done something so terrible that the only fate was for him to suffer in Hell forever.
Jackal lifted his hands in a shrugging motion. "Yes, but that is not the best part. You want to know what the best part of this whole situation is? When I died thousands of people missed me. 'That poor magician didn't deserve for that to happen.' 'No one will ever live up to his talent.' 'I loved going to his shows.'" Jackal leaned in close to Seth, his voice becoming little more than a whisper. "Who is going to miss you when you are gone?" A broad smile filled his face as he stood up. He allowed a second to take in Seth's pain, looked at Kuro with his smile seeming to say 'that is pain, doll', and then vanished.
Jackal's whispered question was like a slap to the face. Seth turned away and looked down, eyes closed tight. The worst part is Jack was right. No one would miss him when he was gone. This realization hurt, and Seth did something he could not remember ever doing. He cried.
