Its all a bit...complicated. Hamish has the power of creation. Whoa first of all no, not god-like holy powers where objects just appear out of thin air. Although it does kind of look like that from the get go. What's really happening is the conversion of atoms into something solid and well 'existing' basically. As far as living life forms go he's able to conjure up a few fetus plants and patches of weeds such as daises, dandelions, and clovers. Even food compositions are in his range of power with the added bonus of all key ingredients for a human's healthy diet needs. The taste though is wonky and by wonky I mean undeniably, irrevocably disgusting. He had been practicing on it but no one really wanted to be the guinea pig and have their taste buds permanently damaged.
Now in order to actually convert atoms into, well not atoms, then you've got to know all the inner workings. From its scientific table of elements down to its molecular structure. Basically if he were to build a car then Hamish would need to read up on some engineering books if he hasn't already. With clocks it would need to be gears and clockwork.
Right now though he's a ghost. Literally. The physical body that he currently holds is just a bundle of inert nerves and paralyzed limbs. From the age of seven, Hamish has been in a forced induced coma by carefully measured amounts of anesthesia. The reason being is because his powers aren't exactly something that the government would want to risk being taken advantage of. Especially by a young child. Keeping him in a state of hibernation until they found a way to somehow restrict his powers was one out of two initiatives they could have taken. Everything came to a complete stand still however when they found that he could materialize a separate but identical entity from his solid form.
Along with his new found power came the ability to manipulate human senses but only the perception of sight. Which means he can conjure up illusions to trick the mind and affect all those around him. Unfortunately with the inability of his physical counterpart that's all he can do. No atom manipulations, solid objects, nothing he makes is real. Even the 'body' that others see is just an illusion. Although he's able to 'touch' others and cause them to 'feel' by the electrical impulses of surrounding molecules (that's only by using his mental manifestation) Hamish on the other hand cannot feel a thing.
When he's Dream Wandering is a different story. Yes, he can jump and intrude into others dreams. Maybe even manipulate it a little so that a nightmare can turn into a shower of flowers or a fanciful fantasy turning into a void of insanity. That's the only place where he's able to 'physically feel' anything but even then, having long since lost the memory of 'touch', there's no telling if what he is 'feeling' is anything close to the real thing.

Well technically speaking he can look and appear just about anything. Before you jump to conclusions, no, Hamish is not a shapeshifter. Since Hamish has the ability of illusion then his form isn't exactly set in stone. Although he does prefer his true form rather than anything else. On occasion he might revert to an older appearance to bypass a few age restrictions (such as 18+ clubs...and by that I mean pubs and drinking bars. Nothing else. Really).
Some would like to say that its just because of the illusions but in all honesty, Hamish is a handsome looking young man. Even though he looks as if he's a few years younger then his real age because of being in a bedridden coma for...practically his whole life. Dark brown, bordering on black, fluffy hair with translucent blue eyes and pale but unblemished skin.
As for a female transformation, there is no way in bloody hell would he even attempt it. Unless its a life or death situation its not gonna happen so don't even bother asking.

Depends really. Probably garb that relates to the weather somehow. So if its cold then a sweater or if its hot, then a loose fitting v-neck. He doesn't have the ability to feel what 'comfortable clothes' are anyways along with the current temperature so he copies what the general public is wearing in attempt to blend in.

White pleated silver as shoulder, knees, elbows, and shin guards. Same thing goes for the breastplate as well as the fitted helmet for his head. The rest of the suit is composed of flexible black material that appears to have tiny specks of light that's reminiscent of stars. Its a simple costume and it isn't as if it could actually 'protect' him in a sense.

I'll try to make this as brief as possible since I don't want to put you through another wall of text to chip away at. Its a really, really strange mix of mature childishness. Yea, bet you've never seen those two adjectives shoved together before. Although its more just maturity since he didn't have the luxury of a childhood. You could say that he has an air about him that causes others to momentarily forget the tangibility of reality. What with all the fanciful illusions and sights he could make you see. He could take you to the top of the world if you wished for it. Metaphorically of course. Dreams are the best (or the worst) since he has full range of control for human sensations. That means if you eat a piece of cake he's conjured up in your dream you'll be able to feel the cream melt in your mouth and the soft bread against your tongue (there's also a 100% guarantee of no puke-flavored anything. Unless you ask for it. Which is a strange request...). However none of it is real and when you awake the feeling of a full belly will evaporate.
Apart from the obvious Hamish is without a doubt the most "curious" person you will ever come across, if not a bit perplexing. He has a mindset that basically rather than focusing on one certain perspective, he sees everything through a kaleidoscope of colors. His belief is that there are many sides of life and its up to us to see them. A mind that reaches for the stars when everything else is rooted so firmly to the ground. That's why he takes pleasure in bringing others dreams into 'reality'. If he never could fulfill his desires then helping others reach theirs is close enough in his book.
As you might know there's a distinct difference between knowledge and experience. No matter how much research and novels he had gone through while in the facility, nothing could really prepare him for the real thing. So despite technically 'knowing' he's still got a sense of naivety. It really is his biggest flaw since if he trusts you enough then he'll believe whatever lies you throw at him. Of course he's got enough common sense to know when he's being fooled with but in some occasions he generally is clueless. That and the fact that he doesn't get any modern slang what so ever. A bunch of three time college graduates with a degree in molecular biology don't exactly use any terms from the urban dictionary in their daily vocabulary.

Before the coma, the powers, everything; Hamish was the first born son of Marilyn & John Holmes. An Oscar award winning college professor for Oxford University and a well-known artist with a painting hanging up somewhere in the Buckingham palace. They were both brilliant people that loved each other unconditionally. The unfortunate illness that had taken the life of Marilyn was a tragedy. One that left Hamish motherless and John in a state of depression. The only thing keeping him together was his responsibility and love for his son.
There was however a silver lining. An aspiring author by the name of Dorian Gray rented out the apartment right above them. A series of events transpired leading the young man to become Hamish's part-time babysitter. It wasn't love at first sight or anything cheesy like that but it was obvious that Dorian and John made a good pair. Despite their constant bickering that even little Ham (Hamish) found funny at his young age. The days slowly began to fill up with laughter and for the first time in a long time, John felt happy. Just as their lives were beginning to look up, everything fell apart.
From the moment Hamish was born John knew that he was special. Making objects appear out of thin air ever since he was three. Dorian was the only other person who knew yet somehow, one way or another, the federal agency had found them. Humans with powers were not uncommon of this day and age but something like this was just too much of a threat that could not be ignored. Of course no matter what the government or national bureau would say, there was no way in hell John nor Dorian would give up Hamish. Their opinions however were completely irrelevant to the 'bigger issue' at hand. If someone, especially a villain, could gain access to such power it would be a catastrophe. If they would have to force their hand in order to gain custody over Hamish then so be it. In the end it was the little boy who agreed to their terms as long as his parents were reimbursed with 'whatever that would make them happy'. Whether its through money, connections, or personal safety.
They readily agreed. With that he compliantly followed their guidance after doing something that would ensure both John and Dorian's happiness. He carefully removed all the memories, bonds, and recollections of their time together with him. The final request he made was that they take them somewhere far away. Far enough that they never remember him. The governments consent was hesitant but with that new display of power, they were eager to get the boy under lock down. For the first few years they were content in watching and observing his abilities grow little by little each day. Until the point in which they found it powerful enough to easily break free of the facility they held him in.
Although Hamish was obedient from the very beginning, this was another risk that couldn't be taken. So a simple plan and system was formed. Hamish would be put under a safely regulated coma until they found a way to somehow restrict his powers. This part you already somewhat know. That was until they found that he could manifest himself into a physically identical but separate entity. One that wasn't real of course but is based on his manipulation of the mind and its atomic impulses. After many tests it was found that for now he could only make others see objects as forms of illusions. An ability that was for the most part considered non-harmful. They aren't aware of his dream escapades however.
Currently Hamish is now attending his first year of high school. As a sophomore. It took a lot of extra precautions and convincing from a staff of scientists and doctors who have personally raised the boy for permission with something like this. Their logic was that keeping him captive and ignorant of the world could eventually backfire on them if they weren't careful. In order for him to learn restraint and control, he would need to experience it out there himself. So with much trepidation and arguments thrown back and forth, it was decided that he would be able to attend a high school created specifically for his needs. Although it was international and he would have to move all the way from Britain to the States. Surprisingly enough he had no qualms against it. He had remembered that his mother was originally from the United States and this could be his only chance to see the place where she herself had grew up in.
Although the conditions towards this trip was made clear. In under no circumstance would they let him awaken from his coma and if he could not project himself through the vast distance then he would simply not be able to go. At first it raised all sorts of new arguments since it sounded all about impossible. However Hamish once again agreed to the terms along with absolute discretion over his full powers. Only the staff, principle, and of course the U.S. government are aware of his private affairs. If anyone else should find out then his privileges would immediately be revoked as well as a one way ticket back to the facility.
So in order to 'fit in' Hamish has restricted himself only to the use of illusions and an inconspicuous position as a Sidekick in training. He is by no means allowed to become a villain, train as a villain, but can befriend one if he so wishes. Although its clearly something that his 'caretakers' would not advise at all.
