XLIII: There was no time for survey of this system at all. While they did have a basic picture of what the system was composed of, as soon as the light from the Idioblocium vessels reached the third planet the proverbial ants-nest was kicked over. A Dreadnought detached itself from the shipyards there where it was undergoing retrofit and was joined by it's escort, a pair of Battleships, a Carrier and two dozen smaller escorting vessels, space seemed to ripple around the vessels as they accelerated at a terrific pace warping space with their passage, only then would the Idioblocium commanding the exploration fleet realise that they weren't using reaction drives. Whoever they were, they were terrifically advanced. And very angry. Should the Idioblocium have been watching the signal traffic, they would have been able to translate in short order a simple message.
"We are the Scarazaran Empire. Surrender your ships. We will annihilate your cultural and technological distinctiveness with our own. Your people will be enslaved to service us. Resistance is futile... but welcome."
@FrostedCamel You woke up Space Satan. Oh shit. We might end up being friends after all, just to deal with Space Satan first.

@Brovo Oh Jesus what have I done? I should have known making a race bent on expansion and making itself larger while killing everything in the process would pit me against Space Satan....

Hey, be thankful that you guys didn't anger another nation and the snow-globes turned out to be aborted fetuses...

Look on the bright side, you can slow them down while the rest of us prepare for their arrival :p
I mean looking at my fleet and the one they are sending. If I commit my ENTIRE fleet we would win off shear numbers because Hangerize is a bit insane. But damn I can only imagine I would take crazy losses.

@Kadaeux what would be the chances of me escaping and just, coming back later.... When I have more forces, perhaps a Dreadnought of my own. Or will they just find me, like "It Followed Me Home" kind of a deal?

Not to say I'm not down for a fight, I expected to do a lot of pillaging in my conquest, 25-40% of my Naval and Army forces committed would have been perfectly acceptable for any one conquest or battle. But I can only imagine >70% losses for just my Navy (And I'm talking my entire combat capable Navy) in this one engagement if I can't avoid fighting Space Satan for a good while .-.

.

Glad you asked. (Because it's sort of important.)

You can escape. The best way is to not jump back to your homeworld however, but try for another system instead.

I was thinking just any random position not pointed towards the home world if I could escape.

Cool, I'll be back Space Satan. Mark my words, I'll be back....

I'll have a post up sometime over the weekend, This will be fun to write :D

Nah, the Jump Drives require target stars close enough. Then you're just along for the ride. So long as you can jump out again before the Scarazaran's arrive, you're fine :p

I for one, plan to use my Uzbekistan privileges to avoid Space Satan all together. Though if they come for me I'm probably allying with the bugs.

Uh...I'm not sure how to put this lightly, so apologies in advance if this comes off badly. Could I use a bit more details on these, like did they detect me and stuff? I feel like I got the least amount of intel whatsoever. :(

In other news, my people have decided on the perfect first contact protocol: Kidnapping a bunch of random grub farm workers and shoving probes up their asses.

In other news, I have a few rednecks to dispose of in an airlock.

Indeed you did...

It looks like some of the information has been cut off somehow :/

"Another system possessed of many worlds and even gas giants, but this one was not unoccupied, indeed, it was very occupied, the system was New Mars, populated by the human race, they appeared to take well to cyberneticism and formed a sort of hive-mind of their own technological devising. Eight orbital stations surrounded the planet at equidistant mathematically precise positions. Each well armed. They watched the visitors from these stations. Watching. Waiting. Observing."

Oh yes.

For practical reasons. Exploration is now limited to just 2 systems a turn :p

Waexians: Gains 1040 points in fleet budget. Gains 980 points in army budget.
@Viral

X; The first group of explorers to emerge from the impossible light of jump space emerged in the outer reaches of a Red Dwarf system, inhabited by three worlds the first and last were rocky worlds, plagued by electromagic storms, the closest to the star of which even had a pair of moonlets orbiting around it, their deformed little bodies spinning around their world heedless of the new arrivals.

Apparently my planets are already inhabited! By electromagic wizards! Those are the worst type of space wizards!

Read again :p

The system is inhabited by worlds :p

As opposed to lonely stars without even asteroids to call Bob.

@Kadaeux so exploration being limited to just two systems means that I can jump my one fleet away from Space Satan twice, and I can still move both of my Colony ships in to another system since they aren't exploring that system anymore? Or can I only jump twice or move both colony ships?

Normal movement isn't exploration so isn't limited. Provided it's to an explored system :p

Alright that clears it up, I'll start writing my post tomorrow or whenever my laptop decides it can connect to the wifi that my phone is using just fine.
