Once Austin had left, Lee couldn't help but smirk at the sight of the flustered male. Leaning back and relaxing against the couch, he sighed in relief that the awkwardness he was feeling was gone. Closing his eyes, he tilted his head toward the ceiling, letting his mind finally relax. Even if the conversation wasn't as discomforting a he thought, it still made him a bit awkward. However, that warm fuzzy feeling still didn't go away, and he pressed a hand against his abdomen once more, furrowing his brow.

"What the hell..." Lee muttered, opening his eyes to look at the ceiling. Then, the drowsiness kicked in. Standing to his feet, he lazily walked to his room, yawning and scratching the back of his head. After conversing with Austin for a bit, surprisingly, he felt like he was able to get some sleep. After stepping inside his room, he shut the door behind him and fell into the bed, pulling the blankets over his body. In a matter of seconds, his eyes closed and he was overcome with the dark curtain of sleep.

Austin, however, managed to get no sleep. That showed the next day. He, later in the next morning, trudged into the living room, yawning a bit into his hand. He had dressed into his usual attire, but it was more messy than usual. He went over to the couch and sat down, leaning back and shutting his eyes. He planned to do this til Lee came in and talked to him, or until something else important happened to happen.

Now, he didn't sleep not only because of the murder, but because he was thinking of what happened before. Which sucked, because he SHOULDN'T be thinking of that, he should at LEAST be thinking of the case. That was how being paranoid was supposed to work, damnit! But, of course, it didn't for him, and he was left feeling tired and guilty for something he seemed to have absolutely no control over- like the rest of his life.

Finally, Lee woke up, feeling groggy as he rubbed his eyes. He slowly stood to his feet and stretched his arms out in front of him, closing one eye at the strain of his lower back muscles. Then, he walked to his dresser and pulled out a thin forest green long-sleeve, pulling it over his head. Shuffling out to the kitchen, he pulled open the fridge and looked inside, grabbing a water bottle. Then, he turned to see Austin sitting on the couch and remembered the night before. Pressing the bottle against his face, Lee closed his eyes and groaned on the inside. He was still confused about what he was, but figured it was something all people felt, like sadness or something like that.

Sitting down in the armchair with a loud sigh, he twisted the bottle open and took a long drink from it. His eyes looked like he had just woken up and his hair was sticking in different directions. Lee then turned to Austin and looked over his face, seeing that the other looked rather tired. Either that, or he lacked sleep.

"You didn't sleep?" Lee decided to ask nonchalantly, sipping the water as he crossed one leg over the other, leaning back to relax into the chair. He was sure they'd have to do something productive for the case sometime soon, but he just wanted to take a moment to wake up and relax first.

Austin Gallagher
"Yeeep. I feel dead inside." He replied, actually not bothering to open his eyes "Whatever, wasn't planning on sleep anyway. Glad that you got some, though. Probably won't sleep til this case is done, myself."

After this case, as he had said in previous instances, he was going to sleep for 1,000 years. Possibly more. Who really knew? Maybe he'd just fall down and die, that's another option. However, this would get done first.

BbVwKrcCYAAQrHb.jpg

Lee slowly nodded, understanding the feeling completely. He was lucky he even got the sleep the night before, and he was sure he wouldn't be able to until the case was done. Rolling his neck slowly, the detective furrowed his brow at the slight ache in his neck. It had been there for the past couple of days, and he felt like working on the case was just making it worse. Of course, it was to be expected. It always happened every case when he got stressed out or slightly paranoid.

"Yeah, but I feel like that's the only sleep I'm going to get for the next few days." Lee spoke as he leaned his head back against the chair, sighing softly. He really didn't want to do anything. Despite how he loved to do his work, Lee enjoyed spending some time just relaxing and trying not to lose his mind.

Austin
"Atleast you got some right?" Austin's replied, sitting up and finally opening his eyes and glancing at Lee "Question, is it bad that I don't want to do anything today? Because I really don't. No offense to mr murder, but I need more of a break. Im tired and not ready for another day of bullshit."

Lee turned to face Austin just as the said male's eyes opened to look at him. He watched the other carefully and smirked a bit, the side of his mouth turning ever so slightly upward. It always slightly amused him to see his coworkers wish for a day off. It reminded him of his earlier days of just starting detective work. He used to want time off as well, but his sunbaes (older coworkers) would tell him to suck it up because they were trying to bring justice to the families. Lee slowly rolled his eyes at Austin before looking at the ceiling.

"Well, I guess taking a break wouldn't hurt. Plus, a crazy psychopath is looking for the best time to jump us, so maybe going outside isn't the best idea at the moment." Lee finally said, lifting a hand to rub the back of his neck. He stretched it a bit as the crick started to loosen at the promise of a break.

"Thank god! Alright, alright, but on that note, I personally want to go out and get some alcohol. First off, getting drunk will probably rid me of the annoying paranoid thoughts, and secondly, it might actually help me get sleep, which I desperately need." He said, getting up and stretching "I'll bring my stuff back here, but honestly? I doubt the guy's gonna jump us this close to his message time, and I doubt he'd do it when you're not with me, shooting incident aside."

This was mostly excuses. Well, the last thing was a excuse to get him to go out; the other reasons, he supposed, were legit. He did want sleep, and getting drunk might help him with that, no matter the hangover that he got alongside being well rested. It'd be worth it. He needed sleep to thrive, after all.

The detective simply nodded, saying nothing more. Not exactly being the type to drink, Lee decided he might settle with a nice warm dinner and maybe call his parents. It had been a while since they lost contact, and he was sure it was time to let them know that he wasn't dead. After having a fall-out over his career, Lee had been persistent about avoiding calls from his parents, who lived about three hours from his current location. Since he didn't want to follow his father with architecture, their last and final fight was rather ruthless. Afterward, he had left to live on his own and went to college for Psychology, Criminology, Forensics, and Criminal Investigation. Thus, his life as a detective started.

Lee slowly stood from the armchair and waved Austin off as he moved to the kitchen. Like always, he didn't really care what the other did, so long as he stayed out of trouble. Yawning into his hand, Lee leaned against the counter and pulled out his phone, scanning through his contacts. Finally, his eyes landed on the one named "Mom" and hesitantly kicked the green call button. He held the phone to his head and waited. Ringing. Ringing. Ringing. No answer. He heard the dial tone and gave a silent sigh before closing his eyes.

"Mom, it's me. Since you're not answering, I guess it means you're busy with work. Um... call me when you have the chance." Lee spoke awkwardly, yet his voice was soft and gentle, like he always was with his mom. He wondered how she'd react to the voicemail, but figured he may find out soon enough. Shutting down his phone, he walked over to the small shelf on the far counter, holding different cookbooks, neatly organized. Bending over a bit, he looked over the different spines until he found a book he was interested in. Grabbing the book, he opened it and began skimming through the contents, a ghost-of-a-smile tugging the left side of his mouth.

Austin lied. Well, he didn't mean to lie. He kind of did it unintentionally, by drinking a little while he was out, then drinking a bit on his way back, and drinking even MORE at....well, some other point. It got to the point he was drunk when he returned, so much so that any brain to mouth filter he had ever had was turned off completely. Actually, the filters that's connected his brain to anything were utterly demolished by the fact he'd decided to drink.

Which would be the only explanation he had if he even remembered doing what he had just done. This, of course, being going directly up to Lee and kissing him as soon as he got back, regardless of what the other was doing. He would have never done this sober, but right now he was obviously not, si that didn't matter. What did matter is he did think he deserved to do this, after all the hardships and the insufferable teasing Lee unintentionally did. Austin hadn't deserved that! Not at all. So, currently, he thought this was completely justified.

((On my tablet again lmao sorry,,,,))

Lee was reading at a recipe intensely, his eyes slightly narrowed in concentration until he heard the front door open. Lifting his eyes momentarily, he watched as Austin walked back inside, looking rather... drunk, to say the least. Well, he couldn't say he was too surprised. Leaning against the counter with a sigh, he held the book lower, at his belt, and read the ever-growing recipe. However, his attention was quickly grabbed as he sensed someone walking closer to him.

Just as he looked up to see what Austin wanted, knowing it must've been him, Lee was suddenly met with the other's mouth pressing against his. Needless to say, the detective was rather caught off guard, his eyes widening as he moved his hands to Austin's waist, intending to shove him away.

But, Lee couldn't help but furrow his brow at the feeling inside his gut, his lips still pressed against Austin's all the while, his eyes confused as he looked at him. Instead of shoving the other away, he slowly felt his hands grab onto the male's waist gently. What the hell? It was that warm fuzzy feeling again. Suddenly, his ears started to burn and he felt his heart pounding against his rib cage; a feeling he only got while chasing criminals. But... different.

After a few more seconds, Lee slowly moved his lips away, pressing them into a thin line. Unsure if the other was drunk to the point of going in for seconds, he pressed his finger against Austin's lips, narrowing his eyes slightly. To say the least, even if his partner was drunk, he did steal his first kiss. Not that it really mattered, but it would've been nice to have a 'sober' person instead of a mindless drunkard.

"Mr. Touchy-Feely. Even if you're drunk, I don't think something like this should just slide without consequence." Lee spoke, tilting his head slightly as his eyes locked with Austin's. "You've got one hell of a price to pay, so don't act surprised when something happens after you've sobered up." Lee warned, licking at his lips absentmindedly. He just had that sudden urge to kiss Austin, and it kind of freaked him out. At the realization, Lee averted his eyes and quickly pulled his finger from the other's lips, feeling his ears burn more as he pressed his lips together.

[It's fine! ^-^]

'One hell of a price to pay'? Really? Like he wasn't paying a hell of a price right now! However, after mustering up a rather disappointing and lame glare with no feeling behind it, he did little more than find his way to the couch and fall onto it. Why'd Lee have to be so hard to read? He didn't step BACK from the kiss, but he sure sounded like he was complaining. Austin didn't apprieciate that. He wanted to know what was going on in the guys head! But, hey, whatever, he'd just sit here on the comfortable couch and let his emotions stew for a bit while pouting like a small child. That was fine. Maybe Lee'd feel guilty or something! For what? Austin didn't know, but again, whatever.

Eventually, though, Austin did pass out. Which was the original intent of the idea with the alcohol, but of course, even with the goal achieved, if he happened to remember ANY of this he would regret drinking in the first place. The hangover he got might do that first, but this would come second. As mentioned, though, only if he remembered- there was a high chance he wouldn't. He didn't drink often, surprisingly, but when he did, he usually did have long periods of time that he couldn't remember anything from.

Lee watched with a light smirk as Austin turned and left the room, a half-hearted glare written on his face. The detective simply rolled his eyes before turning back to the cookbook, his ears still burning as he read. After a few more minutes of reading, he decided on stir fry and heated up the pan.

As he cooked, Lee furrowed his brow, feeling his stomach bubble with warmth and a bit of fuzziness. It wouldn't go away, even if he tried ignoring it. Biting his bottom lip in slight concern, he put the rice in the rice cooker before stepping away, pressing his back against the counter as he tilted his head to the ceiling. He just couldn't wrap his mind around it.

However, pulling from his thoughts, the male slowly lowered his gaze from the ceiling and locked onto the now-sleeping Austin. The left side of his mouth turned up in a slight grin before he pushed his weight from the counter. Walking over to the couch, Lee clicked his tongue at the male and slowly bent his knees so his face was leveled with the other's. Lee couldn't help it as his lips pulled a bit more at the sight. It was rather adorable...

Shaking the thought from his head, he slowly moved his jaw from side to side, trailing his gaze over Austin's sleeping features. Then, slowly lifting his hand, his placed it against the other's head. Instantly, Lee slowly started to run his hand through Austin's hair, not entirely aware of what he was doing. The softness of his hair only made Lee's grin grow bigger, if it was possible. He was sure Austin would forget the kiss entirely, being in the drunk state he was in. However, Lee slowly started to come up with a way to get him to remember before he puled his hand back, his eyes narrowed in a curious way. Then, standing to his full height once more, Lee turned and headed into the kitchen to finish the dinner...

It took a bit for Austin to regain consciousness. When he did, he felt like shit. His head was pounding and his stomach churned, and as predicted, he remembered nothing. The last one certainly wasn't too bad in his opinion, but the other two were hellish. Annoyed with himself and the slight light filtering into the area, he shielded his eyes, groaning a little.

This sucked. He sucked. Alcohol sucked. But hey, at least he managed to sleep, right? Always look on the bright side of things. He slept, and yet he felt awful. Oh, glorious day, was it so worth it. Totally.

Not.

Dinner had taken a bit longer than he expected, but he turned to see Austin awake again and instantly felt his heartbeat ram against his rib cage. Why was he so nervous all of a sudden? It wasn't like a kiss was a big deal... right? Furrowing his brow a bit, Lee quickly put the food on two plates, balancing one on his forearm while holding the other with the same hand. Walking to the fridge, he grabbed two bottles of water, mainly because he knew Austin might want some for his hangover, and the bottle of asprin with his other hand. Making his way to the said male, Lee placed the plate in his hand on the coffee table, as well as one of the bottles of water and the asprin bottle. Making his way to the armchair, he sat down and picked up his one pair of chopsticks and started gently bringing pieces of food to his mouth.

Closing his eyes, Lee said nothing. In reality, the kiss really took him by surprise, as much as he'd hate to admit it. It made him feel strange things that he never thought he'd feel. Not that he even had a clue what they were, but they were something. Slowly chewing his food, Lee grabbed another piece of his food, keeping his eyes closed in slight irritation. Trying to figure it out only made his brain hurt, and he didn't like that.

Austin instantly went for the asprin and water, because he knew it would help, and it was more productive than anything else at the moment. After finishing up with that, he fell back against the back of the couch with a sigh, rubbing his head a bit. Thank god for Lee. If he was alone, as he usually would be, he'd probably be having a hell of a time.

"Thanks." He mumbled, deciding it was best to show some gratitude. He didn't touch the food yet, though, because he really didn't feel it was a good idea. He'd eat something soon, but now? No siree, he didn't want to feel ANY worse, thank you.

"I see that 'one hell of a price' decided to kick in." Lee muttered, just loud enough for Austin to hear. He figured even if he did, he'd not know what he was referencing to. All the better, at least. It would be even more awkward if he suddenly remembered. Opening his eyes, Lee looked over at the male leaning back. Seeing that he wasn't touching the stir fry, he stood back up and headed into the kitchen, pulling the lid off of a small steaming pot. From past experiences at his home, miso soup was best for hangovers, as he had seen his mom cook it for his dad after meeting with a few guy friends.

Taking one of the small bowls form the counter, Lee ladled the clear soup into it, small little tofu cubes the size of a fingernail slowly moving around the broth. He also added a bit of ginger to the broth, which helped to clear muddiness, if there was any. Walking back to the living room, he held the bowl out to Austin, not budging until the other would take it.

"This doesn't count as food, so drink it. Miso soup with ginger helps more than water. At least it'll take your mind off of it until the asprin kicks in." Lee advised, his tone a bit harsh as always. His eyes were narrowed slightly before he sighed and rolled them, turning to look at the ceiling. The kiss was still replaying in his head, and he closed his eyes to try and push it back into the depths of his mind, but it continued to resurface. Great. It was one of the reasons why he never got into relationships or got too close to people. He always ended up feeling things that meddled with his thinking process. Now, he couldn't even concentrate. With his eyes still closed, Lee furrowed his brow and set his jaw, slightly annoyed with himself.

Austin took the bowl after a moment, deciding to give it a try. Better than water? He doubted it. Still not solid food? Yep! It worked. Maybe it would help, who knew? He'd trust Lee on this one and see what happened. After all, the guy usually knew what he was doing, so it couldn't turn out that badle, right?

He also noticed Lee seemed to be annoyed at something. After having a bit of the soup- surprisingly better tasting than water at least -he raised an eyebrow at his partner quizzically "What, did something decide to toss your favorite gun off the balcony or something? You look more 'i'm going to murder you' than usual."

BbVwKrcCYAAQrHb.jpg

At Austin's voice, Lee opened his eyes and sighed before turning to look at the said male. His gaze moves down to the other's lips in not even a fraction of a second before slowly shaking his head. Rubbing at the back of his neck, he averted his eyes and could feel his ears start to slowly burn. He really needed to do something to keep his mind off of it.

"Tch, it's not like you'll remember anyway, Mr. Touchy-Feely." Lee set his jaw and narrowed his eyes slightly at the wall as he slowly crossed his arms over his chest. "You're lucky I decided to help you with your hangover instead of resorting to poisoning your water. I can't even concentrate on the case now because of you." Lee added, his lip twitching slightly. He was exaggerating of course, but it was rather annoying to keep thinking about one particular thing. And who's fault was that? Clearing his throat, Lee turned back to Austin and sighed softly. It wasn't like he was mad at him, he was just mad at the action that wouldn't leave his mind.

"Anyway, it doesn't matter. Some things are just better not remembered, I guess." Lee spoke with a slight eye roll, a bit irritated at the thought. Yes, it was childish to think that Austin forgot the kiss purposely, but the thought still occurred. Unfortunately. "That asprin needs to hurry and kick in. Instead of wasting more time, we could be figuring things out." Lee muttered, grabbing his water bottle and taking a long swig from it.

Austin's brow furrowed a bit in confusion at the statements. Alright, odd. So he did something. Now he was curious as to what it was and what the extent of the damage was. Did he break something? Why would that distract Lee? What the hell did he mean by 'Mr. Touchy-Feely'? Austin needed to find out. The best way? Directly asking the man.

"Whhhhaaat exactly did I do while drunk? I'll assure you now that I probably didn't mean to. Well, depending on what I did. If it was burning something the psycho brought us, then I totally intended that." He said, watching the other man carefully as he spoke.
