Pokémon Diversity: Dawn and Dusk

@DustBunny

It seemed that they had mistaken her for a student. Erin was too flustered by this, her newest predicament, to correct them in time. The students quickly dispersed into their designated groups, leaving Erin stammering behind. She'd been assigned to a "Team Cove" where she was to rid the beaches of the unwanted Pyukumuku.
"Uh, uh..." She paced nervously on spot. "I'm not a student...? Am I?"

She watched as her group walked into the Pokelab one by one. Poochyena growled as they watched them come out with their new Pokemon companions.
"I wouldn't replace you, Poochyena," she pat its head.
It barked once before lunging towards the beach. It took all of her strength to restrain it.

"Wait, wait, wait!" She struggled. "We have to be careful! You saw the beach!"

Erin trotted back to where they'd come from, wincing as her Pokemon pawed at her stomach. She hoped that her companions would be more than enough to deal with the Pyukumuku. Her hand still stung slightly and she wasn't looking forwards to a second trial.

When Erin arrived at the beach, it seemed that the number of Pyukumuku had significantly increased. They swarmed the sands, angrily spitting out jets of mud and water. They had been joined by a smaller throng of blue and yellow Pokemon, who sent out balls of electricity humming through the air. All in all, Erin was loath to release Poochyena seeing how the danger had increased. Her Pokemon disagreed; upon seeing the beach it struggled to break loose.

"No, Poochyena, no! It's dangerous!"

Another disgruntled growl. Erin's skinny arms could only hold it back for a moment more before Poochyena wrestled free. It ran in happy circles around her for a while, ignoring her frantic pleas. To her dismay, it ran directly into the fray. It bit and tore at the Pyukumuku for a while before getting hit with a stray Mud Sport.

"That's it; no more!"

Erin rolled up her sleeves before jumping into battle herself.
"Argh!"
She wiped her eyes from the mud and water slung at her by the Pyukumuku. Making sure to hop between the hostile Pokemon, Erin tried three times to snatch up Poochyena before she succeeded. Ignoring it barking its head off, she retreated to the sidelines to catch a breather.

It was there she met Kouji. She'd seen him at the presentation but back then he'd only had an egg with him. Now he commanded a spider Pokemon, who shot webbing to cripple the Pyukumuku's assault. Whenever it looked tired, it'd use some strange absorption technique to refuel. Poochyena barked at arrival.

"Erm... some assignment, huh?"
She had no idea how he'd react being interrupted in the midst of battle.
"I wonder why they're so mad. Poochyena, no," she spoke sharply as it kicked at her. "Do you think they're hungry? Er..."
Erin trailed off as she grew at a loss for words. She'd never been able to talk to someone this way before - she'd only been used to promote her parents' maps.

Ajax walked down the street until he he reached a near by beach. He saw a cove near by and got curious. He slowly and quietly snuck over to it to see what was going on. He had to hide in a few places to avoid being noticed by beach security, since he's still in his street clothes. He quietly snuck into the cove and looked around. He wondered why he got the sudden urge to enter, he shrugged it off and walked deeper into the cove, he could hear voices and began to head over to the source. He didn't know is the voices were real or in his head, still Caesar and Genji could fight off any threats that come hus way.

Dawn was soon approaching in the quiet dark sky. The island was still covered in the night's shadow and the people still slept at this time. The night pokemon were to soon go into hiding and the morning pokemon would awake to perform their daily duties. It was peaceful and calming as the night went on, but soon it would be a day to be remembered. A young girl was ready to tackle her first day in school.

Lavender was sleeping on her soft, comfortable bed. She was feeling relaxed there as she dreamed of the many pokemon she was interacting in her dreams. As her dreams continued, she was awoken to a large cry.

BWA DO WA DO WA!

A small, red berry looking pokemon cried as it jumps on Lavender repeatedly, trying to wake her up. Lavender shrugged a little bit, trying to wake up.

"I'm up i'm up!" She joyfully said with a tired voice. The pokemon jumped off of Lavender and ran towards the open door, where her mother was watching.

"You're going to be late to your first day of school honey." Lavender's mother smiled. "I'll have your breakfast ready when you get out of the shower."

"Alright. Thanks mom." Lavender looked to her and gave her a thumbs up. Lavender's mother left to go to the kitchen while Lavender jumped into the shower and cleaned up for her first day at the academy. She put on her swimsuit and then her favorite black dress that goes up to just above her knees. After brushing her teeth and applying her makeup, she skipped down to the kitchen, where her mother finished her breakfast meal, scrambled eggs, orange juice, and pancakes in the shape of a pidgey.

"You eat up now dear, i've got some work to do around the house before I head off to my job. Have a wonderful first day at the academy." She gave Lavender a hug before heading off to her room to get ready.

"Thanks mom!" Lavender gave a wide smile to her as she walked over to the table, where her food was. She finished her meal quickly and headed out to the academy with her backpack and Bounsweet in her hands.

Several minutes of walking through the darkened landscape has made Lavender a bit more calm and relaxed. Bonbon seemed to be resting on Lavender's arms while snoring loudly. Guess she didn't get much sleep either. As she continued to walk, she heard a faint cry a bit close to her.

Lavender looks around for the location of the cry and walked towards it. A injured Zigzagoon laid there hidden under the bush as it was laying down on its side. Lavender checked the pokemon for any wounds, it seems one of its legs got twisted and couldn't move. "Hold on, i'll help you." She smiled as she pulled out a potion from her backpack and sprayed the tiny raccoon pokemon's legs. After a minute of spraying its legs, the wound disappeared and the pokemon got on its feet, with a joyful cry.

"I'm glad to see you alright." Lavender petted the Zigzagoon with a soft and gentle brush. The pokemon ran off into the bushes and out of Lavender's sight. Lavender looked around the area and daydreamed for a bit...Before realizing she wasted alot of time standing there. "Oh shoot! The academy!" Lavender realized what she was originally doing and quickly ran to the academy, interrupting Bounsweet's nap. The little berry pokemon gave out a yawn before

Lavender made it to the academy as it was starting, but she was quite a distance from it. Lavender, who was out of breathe, decided not to interrupt them and stood far behind them to catch her breathe. The professor came up to the stand as he gave a small speech.

Right after the speech, another person came up to the podium after the professor finished. Lavender did know who she was due to the fact she has seen her in person many times. The Kahuna of this island, Mialee. She gave a short speech about the stuff in the academy before giving the students their first assignment. Not surprising there. The first one was at the cove nearby, where an infestation of Pyukumuku has attacked the nearby cove and possibly the town if not dealt with.

The other assignment however, hit Lavender quite closer to her. It was a infestation of Charjabugs located near the Merry Bloom, the flower shop that her boss owns. To think that a bunch of bugs would be that close to the shop, it could mean bad business if these bugs got in the shop and ate the flowers. She felt a bit of despair in her heart and worried for both Edd and her shop.

Just then, a girl jumped up as she introduced herself. Quite the young chipper girl. The young girl, Nova, spoke out to all the other students around the area too. A few others approached her to try to talk to her. Lavender did seem a bit happy, seeing the other students making friends and perhaps finding a partner for this school life. But right now, what matters was her favorite place was in danger from these bug pokemon.

Shortly after, Miralee listed who was going with.

"The final six will be Team Flower: Kai, Nova, Beerus, Lani, Quinn, and Lavender. "Now go claim your Pokemon and report to your mission's destination."

Team Flower? Perfect! She gleamed with happiness as she would be able to help out Edd and his flower shop from being destroyed. She rushed towards the lab as fast as she can, with Bounsweet following behind her.

At the lab, Lavender looked around the room as she admired the well designed room with the pokeball set there for the student's viewing. Alright, just need to find a suitable pokemon that I can use to help out Edd. Lavender scouted out each and every pokemon around the various tables, looking to find a wonderful companion to be best buds forever and ever. After a bit of searching, she found one. Chikorita, a small green like plant animal. Lavender gasped and took the pokeball. "It's so cute!" She fangirled a bit harder than usual. She showed the professor the pokemon she wanted and asked if she could take a look at the pokemon. The professor gave a quick nod before handing her Chikorita's pokeball.

Lavender took out Chikorita's pokeball from the professor's hand held it in her hand. She opened the pokeball as Chikorita emerged from the pokeball. The pokemon seemed a bit shy, if not, frightened. Lavender bent down to get close to Chikorita's level. "Hey there. We're going to be best buds." She smiled. The Leaf Pokemon seemed to be scared of her for some reason. After a while of looking at her, the pokemon cried out for its life and ran away. "Hey wait, come back!" Lavender yelled for it, but it didn't show any signs of stopping. The professor wasn't even a bit shocked that it happened. He figured something like this would happen due to the fact Chikorita was very scared of other people.

"Oh well. Maybe something spooked the poor pokemon." She said, with a tone of disappointment in her voice. She looked around the area more for a second pokemon to try out. One pokemon seemed to have caught her eyes and she seemed a bit excited for this one.

A small owl looking pokemon named Rowlet.

"Oh! This one will do." She smiled, the professor smiled and handed her Rowlet's pokeball. Lavender stayed calm, hoping not to scare any more pokemon and released it from its home. The young beige looking owl with a leaflike bowtie appeared and licked its wings. Lavender looked down on the Rowlet near her feet and waved. "Hiya! My name is Lavender. Pleased to meet you." She joyfully said with a heartfelt smile. The Rowlet looked at her and stared. "Will you be one of my best friends!" She held her arms out as if she waited for the owl to jump up to her arms and accept her as his trainer. The owl stared for a little bit, not sure about this person.

Then the pokemon jumped up and down, excited about meeting its new trainer. Lavender returned his excitement with a joyful smile. The professor seemed to be happy that Lavender found her second partner and gave her the necessary tools for her journey. With that, Lavender quickly rushed out of the lab with Bounsweet and Rowlet happily following behind her.

Rushing to the Merry Bloom, she looked to the back to get a glimpse of the situation at hand. Yeah, there was like a swarm of them right behind it too, and they are awfully close to the building too. She needed to get rid of them as soon as possible, but she did think it was the right call to wait for the others to come so that the problem can be finished easily and with no problems. But since she was early, she decided to check the building for her boss. Finding him just inside of the building, tending to his plants. While Lavender ran to Edd, Bounsweet started to fall in love with the scent of the flowers around the building. Lavender never brings her to work because she might do something to them, but the various scents has have her moving around the building, smelling each and every one of them.

"Edd! Are you alright?" Lavender asked as he sees Edd there looking after the plants with his pokemon by his side. He seemed a bit nervous, considering that the bugs were very close to the Merry Bloom.

"I'm ok Lav, thanks. Why y'here? Your shift ain today." He responded back with another question. Edd knows Lavender as one of her employees of the Merry Bloom. And even though they talk about a lot of things, Edd may have forgotten the part where Lavender was going to enlist in the academy. Lavender pulled out a pokeball from her belt and showed it to him.

"I'm a student at the Pokemon Academy now and one of our assignment was to help clear out the infestation of Grubbins and Charjabugs near your business." She explained the situation to him. Just then, a Grubbin sneaked in through the window of the Merry Bloom. Edd noticed it crawling through an issued a command to the Vivillon.

"Fantastic, we could use plenty uh' help" Edd said hesitantly. He grabbed a broom nearby and sweeped the Grubbin back outside of the building. Edd looked back at Lavender. "The other students with'yuh right? Help em clear out the bugs, wouldyuh? We're needin plenty of help here." Edd gave her a smile and continued to defend the place with his Vivillion and Whimsicott by his side.

"Oh yes! That was the plan, you just defend the flowers at all cost." Lavender nodded back and left the Merry Bloom in a hurry. Bounsweet, who was still enamoured by the smell of the flowers, was quickly snapped back into the world when Rowlet slapped it with its wings. It yelled at her to hurry up before Lavender was gone, with a shocked expression, Bounsweet rushed out of the Merry Bloom in search of Lavender.

Outside of the Merry Bloom, Lavender looked around the area for any students that were in her team. She didn't see anyone at first, walking around the field a bit, just then, she heard someone yelling a command, followed by the attack of a pokemon. It seems they were already there She pulled out Bounsweet's pokeball and pointed it to her. "It's gonna get messy Bounsweet, and since you haven't learned any fighting moves, I would rather you stay safe in this pokeball." Lavender said in a worried tone of voice. The berry pokemon sadly cried, wanted to be with Lavender and protect her in case something where to happen to her if the bug pokemon attacked her, but Lavender gave her a reassurance she'll be alright and the pokemon went inside her pokeball. With Rowlet by her side, they walked towards the sound of the attack.

After a bit of running, she reached the area where the fighting was happening. It seems Edd was there with his pokemon, alongside another girl who's fending off the bugs by herself. Lavender seemed a bit confused. She doesn't look like a civilian who lives here, nor did she seemed to be part of the academy. Lavender looked around, but didn't see anyone else? "Wait, where is everyone else?" She asked Edd. She turned around to the other person. "And are you part of Team Flower?" She asked. Waiting for an answer from either. Meanwhile, Rowlet jumped in front of Lavender, ready to protect Lavender at any cost. @Crow

Merry Bloom Flower Shop

"The bugs can be aggressive if they're disrupted from feedin'." Edd informed the girl about the hungry Grubbin. Charjabug had managed to dodge the white eels blasted bundle of electricity, but the Grubbin in her arms wasn't so lucky. BBIN! The little bug was nearly fried by the Charge beam attack, but was able to stay conscious after it had fallen from Diana's hands. It quickly burrowed beneath the ground to avoid anymore damage before Inkay was ordered to strike. "Good news! Thank you." He said in response to learning that she was a Pokemon trainer.

"Hang in there Fielle. You too, Wayla." Edd supported his paralyzed butterfly on his arm and encouraged his near fainted Whimsicott. He spoke out to anyone near, "Abiliene, My Gardern Pattern, is needin help!" He pointed to his other Vivillon that was immobilized by the pinchers of the Grubbin on the tree.

The slashes of the hovering squid sliced through a line of Grubbin in its path and caused them to faint on impact. The tree limb where Abiliene was immobilized snapped by the sharp tentacles and caused the Butterfly to fall with the fainted Grubbin still clamped to its wings. Squirming bodies lay beneath Inkay and ceased any further movement as their strength left them.The piercing tentacles made impact with the Charjabug as well, but it was able to maintain consciousness as it rolled across the grass.

As a result of the aerial attack, the majority of the Grubbin popped beneath the ground to guard themselves within their burrows and continue indulging on the roots of the Pualani. Jaaaa! Charjabug lit up with more electricity and sent another Spark attack, this time at Inkay. Meanwhile, a Grubbin burst from the dirt and flipped up to bite the distracted Squid with a Bug Bite attack. Grrruh! Another Grubbin breached the surface and slang mud up in desire to slap Tynamo.

"Abiliene... There's no tellin how many roots been devoured..." Edd said with his brows furrowed tightly as he attempted to get to his falling butterfly. "This's gotta end soon or the trees will surely perish!" He shouted to everyone around. The majority of Grubbin were now beneath the earth.

The School

Rustling in the wild flowers nearby a brunette and her playful elephant, were three of the insectoid Grubbin that revealed themselves after being disturbed by the Phanpy's rolling. One of them shot a line of sticky string at the Phanpy in annoyance while the others attempted to bite it (Bite attack) from two different sides. It seems as if the bugs were headed in the direction of the Flower shop to join the small army of them already there.

The lab and outside

"Looks like it." Nessa replied to Gabriel with a look to her baby brother who kept a delightful smile. She caught notice of the Shrew-like Pokemon with Gabriel. "Cool choice, Typhlosion is pretty fierce if trained right." She commented while offering a hand to shake. "Gabriel, right? -The school asked the captains not to intervene in a battle on the assignments." She said to him. "Two of us will be on site to help revive any fainted Pokemon if we're approached. Kick some tail out there!" She told him with a playful grin.

"Let's go, Midget. We've got some flowers to sniff." She joked, and Lyle happily followed her with Popplio bouncing in his arms. "Nice trench coat." She grinned at what looked to be some aspiring detective before leaving.

@Maxim @EchoRun

"Whassup Rose? Sassy as she ought to be." Nessa noted with a friendly wink to Kai. "See you there. Squash those bugs." She said with a close of her fist.

@Shakaai

When they arrived, Nessa was impressed by the spectacular assortment of flowers on top of the shop. Then spotted the pesky Grubbin invading the area. "Just as the Kahuna said, and worse." There were far more than she was expecting. Lyle was too busy playing with Popplio's flippers too notice the mini war zone. Plee! The sea lion gave him a cute smile and was enraptured by the little human's attention to her. The trio waited beside a couple of boulders on the edge of the scene. Nessa staked a sign into the ground that she had been carrying. It reads: Max Revives

~~~
The cove
Yuku!
Several Pyukumuku began to slide through the sand toward the human with the red dreads whom they recognized immediately. He had kicked their friends like a football into the ocean and they would not let it go unpunished. They circled around the guy and began spurting mud and water from their spikes in hopes to weaken his Darumaka and Pichu. They waited for him to attack so they could return damage with Counter. Some began to steam and become hot red in color with Bide.
Chou! Chinchou blasted a stream of water toward the Cyndaquil that hid at the tree line. It couldn't risk a sneak attack while protecting its tubby, spiked friends.
@LoveLust @EchoRun
On the outskirts of the wave of Pyukumuku, a little spider was zapping some of the water types of their energy. This caused one to faint, but the others began to retaliate with Counter attack. The ones around them edged up to one another and began to glow lightly while assisting their family with Helping Hand.
Terrorizing the center of the horde, was a canine/hyena hybrid that was tearing through the sea of them. The Pyukumuku were smart enough to harden themselves so that the Poochyenas bites didn't injure them too badly. However, a few did faint from the relentless attacks. It was only with a successful sling of mud, did the Pyukumuku catch a brief break. Counter attacks were sent soaring at the Poochyena and its master.
@DustBunny @falk
A spiral of mystical power began to form in front of the rest of the Pyukumuku at the edge of the black wave. They protected each other from the risk of status conditions.
Standing under a coupling of palm trees, was a monstrous female in a bikini. (View) She plopped down on her picnic mat to dig into her gigantic basket of food. A sign with a picture of a Max Revive on it stood near her picnic set up. After swallowing a stack of sandwiches, she began to roll back to make sand angels. While turning her head in the sand, she noticed a guy with a mohawk approaching. She stood to stomp her way to get a closer look. When she got a better view, a blush flooded her large cheeks and she barreled over to him.
"MOUMOU." The hefty islander introduced herself to him with a booming voice. She was Moumou, the wonderful lifeguard and volleyball enthusiast. She had won many volleyball championships in Kealu. The poor girls that faced Moumou's team were reckt by the powerful momentum of the ball caused by her and it was quite a horrific sight. "Help Moumou wipe back?" She said to him while holding up a purple towel. Moumou turned to reveal a humongous sandy back from where she had laid in the sand. The sprinkling of rain was barely washing it off.
Kai beamed and gave a firm nod, letting rose get on his back and hold on he then ran towards the shop. "See you there too, Nessa!" He had of course gotten the names and visuals for them all, and so with that said, he ran on with Rose looking over his shoulder, running off to the flower shop to view the scene. Ah? Where were the pokemon..? He saw some and he thought about it, thinking. Where they underground?! This wasn't good for the tree.. but... He looked up the tree, at the blooms. Medicine. If he could find a seed pod and save it then they could replant as worst case sinario. Thinking about it, he used his pokedex, smiling to the friendly rotom. He got what information he needed. Bug lighting? Bugs ate plants and grass, so poor Rose would be hurt pretty bad if she faught. "Rose, we're going to provide support.. we only have two moves and one would be too dangerous for you to use, can't get you too close. So Royal, use leer!" He said, and she hopped down from his shoulder.
Rose held her self proudly and she looked to the pokemon, and narrowed her eyes dangerously at them to make them intimidated enough to not attack so well. Next, Kai looked to the few Oran berries he had. "Rose, we gotta take a bloom from the tree, and we need to try to find and take a seed pod so if the tree doesn't make it it'll live on!" He said, and the little green snake pokemon looked over, listening to him and giving a nod. Rose kept using leer a bit, then Kai had an idea, and he picked up a rock, gulping thickly. ".. Rose, when they swam me, get to the tree, and use tackle to quickly take a bloom and a seed pod." Once the sassy pokemon nodded, he then threw a rock hard at the tree's base, hoping to jostle it just enough to disturb the bugs underground into going after him. If they chased him, he'd run them away from the tree. He could patch himself up after the attack as need be, and Rose hid out of sight so the bugs wouldn't go for her instead of Kai.
Cleo had to think about her choice in Pokemon, and with a nod in confirmation to herself walked up to the Professor, her mind set.
"Do you have a Pikachu, Professor?" she asked. When she was handed the Pokeball she was excited but tried to remain calm as she let her new Pokemon out to meet it.
"Chu!"
f182068d101a76ddc618aef2004e0e9b.jpg
Holding our her hand, she giggled as the Pikachu sniffed it then ran up her arm onto her shoulder.
-------------
Present....
Wow. That was a lot of Pyukumuku, and by the looks of it, it was going to be much harder than she thought it would be.
Noticing that someone's starter was being targeted she looked at her Pikachu.
"Alright Pikachu! Go help that little guy out! Chara, stick close to m--...Chara?" she spoke, looking this way and that for the Charmander while her Pikachu hopped off of her shoulder and went to get in the way of the stream of water intended for the Cyndaquil.
@True Self @EchoRun
Chara meanwhile decided to see what was up with the guy getting circled by Pyukumuku. He kept his distance, but just sat in the sand to watch without so much as trying to help at the moment.
@LoveLust
"That's me! It's nice to meet you." He shifted Cyndaquil into his left arm so he could shake her hand. Nessa explained that she'd be helping from the sidelines. Not quite what he was hoping for, but it was something. "Sounds good! It's nice to know you'll be watching out for us at least."
The Cove
Gabriel was beginning to wonder how he'd get Cyndaquil to come out of hiding when he was approached by on of the other people who had been assigned to the cove. "Uh..." He quickly glanced over at his starter, then back to the guy. "Yeah! We are so ready for this..." Hopefully... If not this was going to be much more difficult than it needed to be. Then again, he was the one who brought a fire type to the beach crowded with Pyukumuku. Some other people were already trying to whittle down the Pyukumuku's numbers. So much for an organized attack.
"Uh... Those guys don't look too happy with you..." Gabriel said, seeing the swarm of Pyukumuku pursuing the red head. "Is it something personal? Or maybe the hair? Y'know, like Tauros and the color red?" He was so concerned with the swarming Pyukumuku that he didn't notice that a Chinchou had tried to use Water Gun on Cyndaquil. Fortunately, another trainer, the girl with a Charmander and Pikachu, had noticed, and she was quick to try and help before Cyndaquil got hit.
"Ah! Thank you!" He quickly said to the girl before rushing over to the tree himself. "Cyndaquil!? Pikachu? You two alright?" If Cyndaquil was ok, he'd probably attempt the strategy that everyone else was using; that is, going in and taking out the Pyukumuku little by little. Although based on what just happened it probably wouldn't hurt to go for a Chinchou. He wasn't sure which would be a bigger threat in this case.
After some time studying the available Pokemon, Quinn nodded to himself, confident in his decision. "I choose you Totodile!" he said, throwing the Pokeball to meet his new friend. Out came a familiar blue Pokemon, and Quinn got out the note card containing some information about it.
158.png
Totodile
Adamant Nature
Ability: Sheer Force
Moves:
Scratch
Leer
Water Gun
Aqua Jet
Entry: "Despite the smallness of its body, Totodile's jaws are very powerful. While the Pokémon may think it is just playfully nipping, its bite has enough power to cause serious injury."
What the detective did not expect however was Totodile's eagerness to get started...started meaning Totodile gnawing on his hand. "Gah get this guy off of me!" yelled Quinn. He thought he heard the professor trying to reassure him that this was a harmless behavoir, though he perhaps misheard. Fortunately after some struggle Quinn managed to get Totodile off of him. Pikipek, rather amused at the behavior, came down to meet the new Pokemon, and they seemed happy to meet each other. "We need to put you in obedience school Totodile. Oh well, looks like the others are leaving, so we'd better get a move on."
Shrugging off the pain, Quinn took his leave, and went to the flower garden, where he saw what all the commotion was about. Grubbin and Charjabug everywhere. Deciding to act, he ordered Pikipek "All right, let's take them out. Those Grubbin will be easy targets, they are Grass type after all. Start off with a Peck attack!" Pikipek hesitated a fair bit, something seemed off to her. Still, she dutifully obliged and started pecking at one of the Grubbin.
~Shores of Ke'oa~
"Looks like it...." Aureus said unconvinced to the dude with the skittish Cyndaquil who claimed they were ready. The chubby black sh*ts began to surround him in the sand. He guessed the Pyukumuku weren't too happy about him kicking their friend in the face. The fools began splattering muddy water everywhere and preparing to gang up on him.
"Ya think so?" He replied to the kids comment about the sea cucumbers not looking so happy to see him. Using the back of his hand, he wiped a glob of mud from his eye. Pichu had shielded itself behind Aureus's dreads, but Darumaka had been splashed by the non-damaging move. His fire attacks were lowered, but that didn't matter against water types.
"Yeah, they're just salty about somethin I did." He didn't have time to explain it right now. He turned his head to speak to Pichu, "Hop off and shock them." Chuu! The mini mouse lept over Aureus's head and used Thunder Shock. Bolts of electricity shot down toward the Pyukumuku. "Wakey wakey!" Aureus shouted at he rolled out of the circle with his sleeping Darumaka in his arm.
The sudden tumbling startled the red troll awake and he looked all around in confusion. Aureus raised a curious brow at the random Charmander that watched them. He looked back at the spiked blobs that encircled Pichu. "Rage on em." He said to Darumaka who was already squirming out of his arm to fight. Aureus let him go and watched eagerly.
MAKAAA! Darumaka dashed toward the Pyukumuku and flipped in the air to make its move. His whole body began to burn red and he dove down to slam into the Pyukumuku. DAKAA! Immediately distracting Aureus, was what looked to be a sumo wrestler in his peripheral.
"Hubba hubba..." He said with a laugh when he saw that it was a giant woman in a two piece swimsuit. She was approaching some unlucky fella with a mohawk in the distance. He then noticed the other students who showed up. "SUP? HOW BOUT SOME TEAMWORK?" He called to them with a high wave. A blonde chick was already helping Dude's Cyndaquil. "LIKE THAT."
While Nova fidgeted with her newly acquired Pokedex, her Phanpy rolled about in a nearby patch of grass. It wasn't until Phanpy squealed, that Nova looked up. To her hour, a group of odd looking bug pokemon were circling Phanpy in an attempt to fight him. "Phanpy!" The tiny brunette screamed. Thinking on her feet she called out "Phanpy Defense Curl!" The little elephant snorted before surrounding itself in a tiny burble to avoid being bitten by the Grubbin. When one of them attempted to use string shot, the other scurried away in the other direction. When all three of the bug pokemon had disappeared, Nova ran over to help untangle Phanpy from the sticky web. "Oh Phanpy I'm so sorry!" Nova said, a small sigh escaping her lips. Phony shook off the rest of the sticky mess before bumping Nova with his snout. However it was so powerful to sent Nova tumbling over. "Oh my okay then!" She said in between a fit of giggles. As she got to her feet and brushed herself off she noticed that few others were around. "Oh Phanpy I think we missed everyone!" Phanpy nodded in agreeance, though he struggled on his feet a bit. "Come on Phanpy let's follow those pokemon." She said, whisking the small elephant pokemon into her arms before setting off onto her first adventure.
When she made it to the flower shop she saw a few people she thought she reconziged from the school. Assuming they were team flower she ran up beside a girl, and tried to follow along with what had happened. From what she gathered, the man standing there, Edd she believed his name was, was pointing out the tree and the small bug pokemon burying themselves in the ground. "Well that can't be good" Nova commented, suddenly sensing how serious the situation was. She set Phanpy down next to her before taking a deep breath and grabbing the poke ball attached to her hip. "Growlithe! Come on out!" The tiny brunette said, throwing the ball into the air. In a flash of red light the small puppy dog pokemon appeared before her. Barking in annoyance at her before biting at her shoes. "No Growlithe! Focus these people need us to help them as a team!" She said in a stern voice. The small puppy pokemon huffing in annoyance before focusing on the bug pokemon. "Well anyone got a plan?" She asked softly, eyeing the situation and trying to figure out the best way of attacking with out completely burning the precious tree down.
Phony sat beside her on the right, completely exhausted from his earlier battle. Growlithe sat on her left, awaiting instruction form his trainer as he barked in annoyance at the Grubbin. Nova pulled out her pokedex, trying to get a read on these new strange pokemon.
Ajax's eyes whidened and his skin paled when he saw the very large woman, he slowly raised a finger to say something but out came a somewhat silenced scream of fear. He then quickly bolted out of the cove and onto the beach, he ran past several students before tripping on a pyukumuku. He quickly got up and looked around. The entire beach was infested with them "Oh boy...." hr said and looked around at everyone who was there "What the helix is going on here?" He asked baffled and a bit annoyed.
"Here they are. Just arrived." Edd answers Lavender about the whereabouts of the students with a breath of relief.
A familiar boy and his Snivey arrived to the area. Not too long after, a guy with his Totodile and Pikipek got there as well. Wait, he was a customer... He thought concerning Kai, but then was distracted by Fielle who began to flutter her wings frantically. Joining them, was a girl and her elephant and a Growlithe she brought out of it's pokéball.
"Easy. You'll get yourself hurt." Edd told his fancy butterfly who was frozen to his arm from the paralysis after attempting to fly. She desperately wanted to help her friend, Abiliene. The Garden Pattern Vivillon was still pinned to the ground by the pinchers of the two Grubbin that began playing tug-of-war with the exterior of the poor butterfly's wings. "Please, help her!" Edd cried. Viv!
A few Grubbin popped their heads above the ground curiously, but immediately hid beneath the earth again at the sight of the owl and woodpecker Pokémon. Any other bugs upon the surface began gathering close to the base of the tree trunk when seeing the fire pup. Before one of the Grubbin could make it any further to the tree, it became victim of the woodpecker's beak attack. It squirmed madly from the impact, but instantly fainted from the pecking. The soaring bird above caused the rest of the bugs to bury under the earth.
Seeing the attack on its family, the Charjabug that had attacked Inkay turned its attention on Pikipek. JABUU! It lit up with another Spark attack and sent the bolts of electricity up into the air toward Quinn's aerial pal this time. @Maxim
Kinda tricky for a 1st assignment... Nessa thought, as she witnessed the scene. Her mind was on high alert at the sight of the battling, and she kept looking back to Lyle in case a rogue bug decided to attack them. Lyle had placed Popplio on one of the smaller boulders and was hiding below her before hopping up to surprise her with his arms held high and fits of giggling. Pop! The little sea lion began clapping her fins in amusement at her new master's playfulness.
She wasn't suppose to intervene on the fighting, but Nessa had a strong urge to do something more than just hand out restorative items. She overheard the Nova girl asking about a plan for the team to possibly initiate. Nessa couldn't physically help them take care of the bugs, but she wasn't exactly told that she couldn't help them figure out how to deal with them.
"Bugs HATE smoke!" Nessa yelled over to the group with a tightening of her glove. Once she got their attention, Nessa continued, "You can try burning some brush and laying them inside the Grubbin burrows.The dirt will kill the flames and you can smoke out the pests that way. That allows the rest of you to ambush them on the surface once they flee from underground!" Nessa suggested to the students. She made sure she spoke loud enough for them all to hear.
"You can use THESE." She held her hands out to show them the dry shrubs around the boulders she stood near that they could use for the fire.
Meanwhile, Kai already sent his grass snake toward the tree for a plan of his own. He had thrown a rock at the tree trunk, but it only provoked a few brave Grubbin to scurry up the tree and notice Snivey with hungry pinchers snapping.
The bugs were smart enough to keep their distance with the birds around. Rose's leering lowered the defenses of the Grubbin after her, but they were catching up to her regardless. When she made it to a bloom, she was ordered to use tackle and it succeeded in knocking one of the Grubbin out of the tree. The other two advanced on the limb to use Bug Bite at the grass type.
Lonn! Snivey's brave act caused Fielle to fight through her paralysis and fly swiftly toward Abiliene. "Fielle, STOP!" Edd yelled, with an outstretched hand. The Fancy Pattern Vivillon was attempting to free her green friend, but the Grubbin's pinchers were beginning to rip Abiliene's wings.
...
Concealed behind one of the Pualani trees, a second Charjabug lay half-way buried in a comatose-like state. It was slightly glowing as if preparing for some sort of metamorphisis. ZZZZzz! A threatening buzzing began filling the air and the light around the Charjabug grew brighter.
The Cove
Chinch! Chinchou's Water Gun sprayed Pikachu instead of its intended target. Cyndaquil was shielded safely behind the electric mouse's body. Now flustered, it used a chance to change targets on Cleo's unsuspecting fire lizard a good distance away. Chinchou blasted a faster stream of water this time toward Charmander with a determined look on its face. The sprinkling of rain grew heavier and would remind the students of water type moves increasing in power as a result.
The closest curve of Pyukumuku, in the circle around Pichu, were zapped by the little mouse's electical shock. Most of them fainted, but a few hung onto what little life they had left. They bounced up to use fierce Counter attacks on the yellow baby rodent. The other Pyukumuku, forming the opposite curve, were taken off guard by the Darumaka that rushed at them. They were crashed into like bowling pins, but kept conscious.
Yuk! One of the Pyukumuku splashed mud from it's spike in an attempt to lower Pichu's attack. Another Pykumuku was flipping up to smack Darumaka with a Counter attack. The others used Harden to strengthen their defense by any future offenses.
Witnessing their friends starting to lose, the outer wave of Pyukumuku began to break off from the hoard and slide their way toward the three students and their Pokémon. Nearly a dozen of the angry Sea Cucumbers came for them. Half of the line hardened themselves and other prepared Bide while the rest splashed mud and water to weaken the mice and fire types.
Moumou waited for a moment with her back turned as if undoubtedly expecting her new eye candy to clean the sand off of her massive body. "HUM?" She turned an eye to see that he had fled and looked down with the same eye to see her back was still sandy. "Maybe he in hurry." Moumou assumed, and tromped after him. "HEEH HEEH...." Even her giggles seemed to echo like thunder rolling across the sky when he tripped over a little Pyukumuku the way he did.
"You help clean beach? MOUMOU'S HERO. HEH HEHH." She began to jog over to her picnic spot and drug the mat over near Ajax while kicking the basket along. She batted her eyelashes at him and smiled with puffy cheeks before slamming down to sit. Her cheeks turned pink while taking out a bucket full of malasadas and cramming them in her mouth while watching Ajax do his thing. She pat her belly and began balancing a tower of malasadas on it for fun before devouring them with no hands.
Kai called out to Snivy, knowing that tackle wasn't just a move to attack.. it could be used in different ways too! "ROSE, try to take a seed pod and bloom, and use tackle to try to dodge!!" He cried, he heard the cry of one of the shop's pokemon and looked over to the scene.. his heart tightening he then ran over to them. He heard the other who watched say that they hated smpke, and to burn the brush to smoke them out.. but he had no firetypes to do that, so he did what he could, and he ran to the grubbin who was starting to tear one of the shop's pokemons' wings. "Hang on!!" He cried, and he dropped to his knees heavily, moving and grasping the grubbin's pincers, trying to force the electric bug to let go of the delicate wings before the pokemon tore them... he planned to treat the shop's pokemon and their wounds, while he kept an eye out for Rose who would try to keep the tree clean of the bugs with her few moves. Kai heard the growing buzzmy sound, and his heart sank, calling to the others. "Somebody figure out what's making that harsh buzz!! That doesn't sound good..!!"
It looked like Pikachu made it to Cyndaquil in time to take the hit for him. Gabriel was glad the attack didn't his Pokemon, since it would have been more effective. He did feel bad for her Pikachu, since it took the hit instead. He checked to make sure that Pikachu was okay before his focus shifted over to the infestation. Fire type attacks wouldn't be any good in this case, so he'd have to use his Normal attacks. So... Tackle.
He quickly thought it over, knelt down, and spoke to Cyndaquil. "Alright, Cyndaquil. Buddy. Show these guys what you're made of. Get out there and Tackle those guys. I'll help!" He reassured this shrew Pokemon. After all, he'd tossed plenty of Pyukumuku back into the ocean with Luvan before. Sure, these guys were being pretty aggressive, but maybe if they'd been weakened by some attacks they'd be easier to throw back into the sea. That, and he wasn't sure if Cyndaquil would be willing to go out there alone.
He stood up and quickly led the way, Cyndaquil hesitantly following close behind. When they were close enough, Gabriel gave the signal, and Cyndaquil went in to tackle the closest Pyukumuku. Hopefully it wasn't one of the ones who were using Counter or Bide...
Before Cyndaquil or Gabriel could make another move, someone suddenly rushed into the sea of Pyukumuku, tripping over one and face-planting into the sand. He was pursued by a rather large woman, who tugged a basket of Max Revives along with her. Gabriel would have to keep that in mind. Or at least, he would, if the sudden commotion hadn't spooked Cyndaquil so much. The shrew Pokemon jumped back suddenly, spewing a cloud of black smoke from its mouth (Smokescreen) before skittering off towards the tree where it had hidden originally. Gabriel coughed, waving the smoke away from his face. "We're trying to get rid of these Pyukumuku." He managed to cough out, looking for his Pokemon. He could see it lingering at the edge of the scene, but he doubted he'd be able to get it to come back any time soon.
Well now what? He couldn't just leave. And Cyndaquil was all he had... Well, actually no. He did have one more Pokemon. But he'd never actually used it for battling before. What other choice did he have?
Gabriel went to Cyndaquil and returned him to the Pokeball so that it wouldn't be scared away by any further unexpected events or targeted by that Chinchou again. He then took out another Pokeball, and tossed it into the air. Out popped a purple, balloon-like Pokemon. It was pretty easy to see why Luvan didn't believe it would be any good to use as a starter on an adventure. Its air-headed personality didn't really help it case. It looked around curiously for a bit, taking in its surroundings, but seemingly ignoring the whole situation occurring on the beach, before it happily floated over to Gabriel. Gabriel gently waved his hand though the cloudy wisp on its head, then used his Pokedex to check its moves.
Drifloon
The Balloon Pokemon
Ghost/Flying
A Pokemon formed by the spirits of people and Pokemon. It loves damp, humid seasons. It tugs on the hands of children to steal them away; however, it often gets pulled around instead.
Gabriel put away his Pokedex and led the Drifloon over to the scene. "Alright, we're back." He said in case any of the other students were listening. He turned to Drifloon and pointed towards the Pyukumuku. "Drifloon, use Gust on those guy!" He watched as Drifloon's body began to glow blue, and then sent a powerful gust of wind towards a couple of the Pyukumuku. Hopefully that would do something.
Ajax watched her slowly trying to move away so she would not notice him, but the pyukumuku were littered everywhere. He sighed and grabbed two pokeballs "Caesar, Genji." He summoned his tyrunt and croagunk. They both looked around at the abundance of pyukumuku "Caesar use tail whip." Caesar nodded and charged at one of the pests, he whipped it's tail with enough force to swat sand wards without touching it. Waiting to see if he made an impact Ajax looked at Genji "Genji use toxic." Genji dripped a poisonous mucus from it's hand and fling it over at two of the pests.
Pikipek swooped in and pecked the Grubbin madly, taking it down almost instantly. Thinking the battle over, she landed and made a pose of victory, only to get nailed by the Charjabug's attack. "Pikiiiiii!" it yelled and knelled down in pain. Quinn, startled, ran over to her side and said "Astrid!". Astrid the Pikipek tweeted, she was still okay, but had taken a huge chunk from Charjabug's onslaught. She turned as though to attack, but Quinn whistled. Quinn, and his family by extension, used whistles to get the Pikipek's attention often, so she turned to Quinn and waited patiently. "Let's not go after that, one more of those and you're a goner." Quinn said, then surveyed the flower shop for anything that would be useful.
He overheard Nessa saying something about smoking out the bugs. "Oh yes, I was just about to suggest that!" he lied, then he turned his attention to the swarm. There were a couple of Grubbin torturing a poor Vivillon. Quinn took a second to think, then said "All right, I shall distract them, you guys work on the fire and I'll keep the bugs away from you." Astrid, for her part, looked intensely at the assaulting Grubbin, and then Totodile came out next to her. "Yes, yes, we shall do that. Astrid, Peck the one on the left of that Vivillon. Totodile, you get that one on the right, and use...uh was it Aqua Jet?"
No sooner had Quinn said that then the Totodile suddenly wreathed itself in water and charged for the Grubbin at an astounding speed. Astrid was not far behind, flying at top speed towards the other one to take it out. Quinn looked in apprehension, and said "Make sure you guys don't hit Kai while you're at it!". All he could do now was wait and see what would unfold.
Chara hissed as the water hit his small frame. Quickly standing at his feet and protecting his tail from the blast of water he snarled at the Chinchou and jumped at it, intending to swipe at it with his claws.
Meanwhile, Cleo's Pikachu did her best to shake her fur out. When Gabriel checked on her she simply smiled.
"All in a days work!" Cleo spoke, before giving her Pokemon a smile.
"Let's do our best! How about Charm for the time being?" she suggested, with a nod the electric mouse would turn towards one of the Pyukumuku and giving it a rather charming and bright smile in hopes of it helping.
"The bugs can be aggressive if they're disrupted from feedin'." Edd informed the girl about the hungry Grubbin. Charjabug had managed to dodge the white eels blasted bundle of electricity, but the Grubbin in her arms wasn't so lucky. BBIN! The little bug was nearly fried by the Charge beam attack, but was able to stay conscious after it had fallen from Diana's hands. It quickly burrowed beneath the ground to avoid anymore damage before Inkay was ordered to strike. "Good news! Thank you." He said in response to learning that she was a Pokemon trainer.
"Hang in there Fielle. You too, Wayla." Edd supported his paralyzed butterfly on his arm and encouraged his near fainted Whimsicott. He spoke out to anyone near, "Abiliene, My Gardern Pattern, is needin help!" He pointed to his other Vivillon that was immobilized by the pinchers of the Grubbin on the tree.
The slashes of the hovering squid sliced through a line of Grubbin in its path and caused them to faint on impact. The tree limb where Abiliene was immobilized snapped by the sharp tentacles and caused the Butterfly to fall with the fainted Grubbin still clamped to its wings. Squirming bodies lay beneath Inkay and ceased any further movement as their strength left them.The piercing tentacles made impact with the Charjabug as well, but it was able to maintain consciousness as it rolled across the grass.
As a result of the aerial attack, the majority of the Grubbin popped beneath the ground to guard themselves within their burrows and continue indulging on the roots of the Pualani. Jaaaa! Charjabug lit up with more electricity and sent another Spark attack, this time at Inkay. Meanwhile, a Grubbin burst from the dirt and flipped up to bite the distracted Squid with a Bug Bite attack. Grrruh! Another Grubbin breached the surface and slang mud up in desire to slap Tynamo.
"Abiliene... There's no tellin how many roots been devoured..." Edd said with his brows furrowed tightly as he attempted to get to his falling butterfly. "This's gotta end soon or the trees will surely perish!" He shouted to everyone around. The majority of Grubbin were now beneath the earth.
Kai beamed and gave a firm nod, letting rose get on his back and hold on he then ran towards the shop. "See you there too, Nessa!" He had of course gotten the names and visuals for them all, and so with that said, he ran on with Rose looking over his shoulder, running off to the flower shop to view the scene. Ah? Where were the pokemon..? He saw some and he thought about it, thinking. Where they underground?! This wasn't good for the tree.. but... He looked up the tree, at the blooms. Medicine. If he could find a seed pod and save it then they could replant as worst case sinario. Thinking about it, he used his pokedex, smiling to the friendly rotom. He got what information he needed. Bug lighting? Bugs ate plants and grass, so poor Rose would be hurt pretty bad if she faught. "Rose, we're going to provide support.. we only have two moves and one would be too dangerous for you to use, can't get you too close. So Royal, use leer!" He said, and she hopped down from his shoulder.
Rose held her self proudly and she looked to the pokemon, and narrowed her eyes dangerously at them to make them intimidated enough to not attack so well. Next, Kai looked to the few Oran berries he had. "Rose, we gotta take a bloom from the tree, and we need to try to find and take a seed pod so if the tree doesn't make it it'll live on!" He said, and the little green snake pokemon looked over, listening to him and giving a nod. Rose kept using leer a bit, then Kai had an idea, and he picked up a rock, gulping thickly. ".. Rose, when they swam me, get to the tree, and use tackle to quickly take a bloom and a seed pod." Once the sassy pokemon nodded, he then threw a rock hard at the tree's base, hoping to jostle it just enough to disturb the bugs underground into going after him. If they chased him, he'd run them away from the tree. He could patch himself up after the attack as need be, and Rose hid out of sight so the bugs wouldn't go for her instead of Kai.
After some time studying the available Pokemon, Quinn nodded to himself, confident in his decision. "I choose you Totodile!" he said, throwing the Pokeball to meet his new friend. Out came a familiar blue Pokemon, and Quinn got out the note card containing some information about it.
Totodile
Adamant Nature
Ability: Sheer Force
Moves:
Scratch
Leer
Water Gun
Aqua Jet
Entry: "Despite the smallness of its body, Totodile's jaws are very powerful. While the Pokémon may think it is just playfully nipping, its bite has enough power to cause serious injury."
What the detective did not expect however was Totodile's eagerness to get started...started meaning Totodile gnawing on his hand. "Gah get this guy off of me!" yelled Quinn. He thought he heard the professor trying to reassure him that this was a harmless behavoir, though he perhaps misheard. Fortunately after some struggle Quinn managed to get Totodile off of him. Pikipek, rather amused at the behavior, came down to meet the new Pokemon, and they seemed happy to meet each other. "We need to put you in obedience school Totodile. Oh well, looks like the others are leaving, so we'd better get a move on."
Shrugging off the pain, Quinn took his leave, and went to the flower garden, where he saw what all the commotion was about. Grubbin and Charjabug everywhere. Deciding to act, he ordered Pikipek "All right, let's take them out. Those Grubbin will be easy targets, they are Grass type after all. Start off with a Peck attack!" Pikipek hesitated a fair bit, something seemed off to her. Still, she dutifully obliged and started pecking at one of the Grubbin.
While Nova fidgeted with her newly acquired Pokedex, her Phanpy rolled about in a nearby patch of grass. It wasn't until Phanpy squealed, that Nova looked up. To her hour, a group of odd looking bug pokemon were circling Phanpy in an attempt to fight him. "Phanpy!" The tiny brunette screamed. Thinking on her feet she called out "Phanpy Defense Curl!" The little elephant snorted before surrounding itself in a tiny burble to avoid being bitten by the Grubbin. When one of them attempted to use string shot, the other scurried away in the other direction. When all three of the bug pokemon had disappeared, Nova ran over to help untangle Phanpy from the sticky web. "Oh Phanpy I'm so sorry!" Nova said, a small sigh escaping her lips. Phony shook off the rest of the sticky mess before bumping Nova with his snout. However it was so powerful to sent Nova tumbling over. "Oh my okay then!" She said in between a fit of giggles. As she got to her feet and brushed herself off she noticed that few others were around. "Oh Phanpy I think we missed everyone!" Phanpy nodded in agreeance, though he struggled on his feet a bit. "Come on Phanpy let's follow those pokemon." She said, whisking the small elephant pokemon into her arms before setting off onto her first adventure.
When she made it to the flower shop she saw a few people she thought she reconziged from the school. Assuming they were team flower she ran up beside a girl, and tried to follow along with what had happened. From what she gathered, the man standing there, Edd she believed his name was, was pointing out the tree and the small bug pokemon burying themselves in the ground. "Well that can't be good" Nova commented, suddenly sensing how serious the situation was. She set Phanpy down next to her before taking a deep breath and grabbing the poke ball attached to her hip. "Growlithe! Come on out!" The tiny brunette said, throwing the ball into the air. In a flash of red light the small puppy dog pokemon appeared before her. Barking in annoyance at her before biting at her shoes. "No Growlithe! Focus these people need us to help them as a team!" She said in a stern voice. The small puppy pokemon huffing in annoyance before focusing on the bug pokemon. "Well anyone got a plan?" Tynamo took the slap of mud like it was nothing.
"Ha! That quite literally did nothing to my partner!"
Meanwhile, Inkay was badly damaged by a Bug Bite, falling badly and sustaining vast damage.
"ALRIGHT THAT'S IT, IT'S SHOW TIME!" Diana exclaims in an angry tone as she caught a toppling Inkay in her arms. As a defense mechanism, Inkay launched a spray of its black ink upon the Grubbin.
"Well, just in case something burns real bad, maybe someone with Smokescreen would be better," Diana speaks.
Meanwhile, Tynamo uses Charge Beam to create a small spark on a shrub, hoping for it to emerge into a larger flame.
Lavender took a quick glance around the infested area. Quite a large amount of Grubbins and Charjabugs roaming around the section. While the rest of the members of Team Flower have finally made it to the section as her boss pointed out, could we be able to defeat them all before our pokemon tire out.
Oh wait, of course we can, we have a Growlithe...and a Rowlet that can peck at them, Pikipek included. Should be easy right?
Lavender looked around each team member's pokemon. Fire, Water, Grass, Flying, eletric, Dark, and Psychic. Quite the selection of pokemon here. But considering the fact that the bug pokemon are hiding underground just makes it more troublesome to get to them. There has to be something she can use to draw their attention, a smell, a ground pokemon, or maybe even...
Bugs HATE smoke!
She didn't seem to realize that one of the trial captains was already at the Merry Bloom. She must've been so worried about Edd and the shop she forgotten how much time has passed. She's right about that. Bugs don't like the smell of smoke and would normally retreat at the first sign. Realizing that the girl had a fire pokemon, surely that Growlithe has some kind of attack to create smoke.
"Hey." She asked the girl beside of her, Nova should've been her name if she remembered back at the ceremony. "Since you're the only one with a fire pokemon, do you think you can start up something to smoke out the hidden Grubbins? Smokescreen preferred if you have it. We don't want to cause potential collateral damage around the town." She asked again, hoping that she already had planned or was planning to do something about what the trial captain said. Just then, she heard some kind of noise.
ZZZZzz!
The sound caught her attention and she looked around the area from where that sound may have originated from, but to no available, the closest she heard it from was from one of those trees. "Rowlet, can you investigate where the sound came from." Lavender gave a order the the Rowlet, with a quick nod, the owl pokemon flew towards one of the trees and observed the back of a tree.
As Rowlet turned around to the other side to the tree, he found a Charjabug laying on the tree. Rowlet wasn't sure what the bug was doing, but decided to get closer to observe it more. He could see light gathering around it. Was it planning to attack with a powerful move? And why form that far away? Then it hit him.
It's not powering up a move, it's evolving. The bug is fully covered in a blue light as it begins its metamorphosis.
With a surprise, the owl pokemon quickly fluttered back to tell Lavender the news...Well if she could speak pokemon.
Lavender could see a small light coming from the tree from where Rowlet was running away from, but with no idea of what happened, she can't be too sure. "What happened Rowlet? What's going on behind the tree?" She reached out to pet Rowlet by its side. The Rowlet flew back and attempted to tell Lavender what he saw. Well, all that came out was cries. Lavender looked at it trying to figure out what it was doing. "Umm...I don't understand you." While both Lavender and Bonbon knew each other for being friends for a very long time, she could understand her, Rowlet on the other hand, is different from Bonbon. Rowlet tried to explain through other means, such as pointing at the Charjabug and trying to stretch its wings in a sense of it growing. Lavender still didn't understand it. But looking back at the tree. Something clicked in her head.
Rowlet must've saw the Charjabug evolving.
And thus, the easy task of clearing a bunch of Grubbins just became more complicated. With a bit a fear in her, Lavender called out to the other team members and Edd.
"Guys!" She yelled, "Be careful! One of the Charjabugs behind that tree is evolving into a Vikavolt" She pointed towards the tree, as the light from behind the tree starts to become more brighter thanks from the evolving Charjabug. "Stick together. We don't know how powerful this Vikavolt will be." She wanted to make sure that her teammates and her pokemon were aware of a powerful foe coming. Rowlet seemed a bit scared, but is ready to defend her new trainer from this new foe.
Nova turned in surprise to see Nessa, one of the island trial captains. She had a fair point and as Nova glanced around she saw that her pokemon was the only fire type. Turning to gather the twigs around the boulder she noticed the girl next to her and nodded as she asked her to try and start some sort to fire. "Right! While Growlithe doesn't know smokescreen his ember is little enough to be maintained." She said with a nod. She looked at Growlithe and moved slowly towards the hole where the Grubbin lay buried beneath the tree and threw as much of the twigs and brush in and around it. Backing away slowly as she looked at Growlithe. "Okay Growlithe, careful now buddy let's not burn it all down." The puppy pokemon gave a bark of acknowledgement before Nova nodded and commanded "Growlithe use ember to smoke out those bugs."
The little orange pokemon yip before running forward and setting a blaze the pile of twigs into a small blaze. Nova clapped as she beamed of pride at her little stubborn pokemon. Phanpy waved his trunk in victory and Nova couldn't help but giggle. Phanpy tried to stand but Nova quickly ushered the tiny pokemon back down. "Woah there Phanpy, don't over do it! You need to stay out of this fight" Phanpy plopped back down at Nova's side in sadness while Nova tried to comfort the pokemon. She looked over to the boy, Quinn was his name? "Uh hey you! Quinn right? Could you keep an eye on this fire, if it gets out of control your Totodile could easily put it out!" She suggested with a small smile.
Noticing that the shop owner's pokemon was being taken care of by others she turned her attention to the grubbing who began pouring out of their smokey hideout. "Okay Growlithe let's take care of these pesky bugs" Growlithe gave a confident bark and began to charge the bug pokemon. "Use bite!" Nova commanded as her pokemon attacked a fleeing grubbing with his steel like jaw. "Alright!" She cheered, fist pumping before she noticed the other Grubbin beginning to surround her pokemon. "Oh no.." She mumbled under her breath as the bug pokemon surrounded Growlithe. "Growlither use ember on them!" She called out but it was too late, the bugs had begun to shot strings of webs across Growlithe. With a tiny growl he tried to use the fire attack on a few bugs but there were too many to make much of a difference.
