Story: -This ended up being longer than I intended, there's a shorter version at the bottom if you don't feel like reading-

-Long version-

Jona was born as the second son for the royal couple of Celinnon and was given almost everything during his childhood. Almost. The duties one must face when you have a kingdom to rule tend to take the majority of your time and therefore Jona's parents never really had much time for him or his older brother, Roldan. Jona's relationship with his brother wasn't all rosy either, the usual competitiveness between sibling was fueled by the fact that Roldan would one day become the king of Celinnon and he loved rubbing it at his younger brother's face. Needless to say, Jona wasn't too fond of his family. He barely saw his parents and his young mind blamed it all on them and in addition to that, he was rather jealous of his brother. So there was no happy family dinners, that's for sure.

Things started looking better for lil' pre-teen Jona when his uncle Layne from his mother's side decided to come and crash in their castle. The mighty queen didn't exactly want to damage her reputation by kicking her brother out so Layne was there to stay. Jona was quick to take a liking to his uncle who was the perfect candidate to fill in the role of a parental figure. Or the role of that really cool older brother who spends time with you and makes you feel all around awesome. Either way, Jona really liked him and looked up to him.

However, Layne wasn't there to just make his nephew happy. No, he had plans, big ones. Layne's family didn't come from a royal backround and his sister had only managed to become the queen thanks to 'true love' that gives no damn about class. Though her husband's parents weren't too pleased by the bride their son had picked but that's a whole another story. Anyway, Layne was jealous by the sudden leap her sister took on the social ladder and that envy eventually turned to hatred and he started scheming some rather evil plans in the small head of his.

Layne started bad mouthing Jona's family to the small boy, first off it was very subtle but with years of work, Layne was able to convince Jona his parent's weren't fit leaders, that they were exploiting the commoners, hoarding all the wealth while people starved and once Roldan would become king, he'd continue on the same path. Jona had only ever set foot outside the cozy castle very few times so he never saw how good or bad the situation was among the common folk for himself. Besides, he trusted his uncle, he saw no reason to doubt his words. As a result, the naive teenager started harboring some rather dangerous hatred towards his own flesh and blood.

After years of preparations and bucket loads of patience, Layne set his heinous plans in motion. The royal family had quite the extensive security measures and even the queen's brother wasn't to be trusted, especially since the queen herself was slightly wary of him. However, no one questioned it at the time when the 21-year-old prince Jonah told some guards to take a break. Sure, it was weird but no one wants to tell a prince that they're crazy to leave one of the entrances unguarded. This allowed few of Layne's 'friends' to slip into the castle unnoticed and with the help of Jona, the small company managed to get into the proximity of the royal family rather easily. The plan was to capture the villainous king and his wife and oldest son. Declare prince Jona as king. Return the wealth to the people and bring peace and happiness to all. The standard happy ending. Well, at least that's what Layne told Jona.

What really went down was the murder of the royal family, excluding the younger son. The king had no family that could take the crown after his passing and Layne was the queen's only living relative. With his rather excellent oral skills, Layne could very well be able to wriggle onto the throne. The only one left on his way was Jona but he couldn't bring himself to kill the kid since he had grown rather fond of him over the years. However, Layne couldn't leave him running around either and the lad wasn't exactly cooperative once he found out what his uncle had been up to all along. So Layne decided to lock his nephew up for good, that would solve his problems.

Except this scheme didn't go according to plan. Jona had grown to be quite the able young man and with the help of some burning anger, Jona managed to overpower his uncle and took his life in a fit of rage. After a while of staring into nothingness, the gears clicked into place in Jona's head and the gravity of the situation dawned on him. His family was dead, his uncle was a liar, he'd have a hard time explaining why he was covered in blood and he was pretty much screwed. So he did what almost any other panic stricken kid would do, he ran. The mighty prince of Celinnon left his kingdom without a ruler and in a state of confusion and chaos.

Jona traveled as far from Celinnon as he could to avoid being recognized by anyone. He eventually enlisted as a pawn in another kingdom's army since sword fighting was pretty much the only practical skill he had and even fugitive princes need to eat. He spent two years as a mere soldier and even though he heard stories of how Celinnon had been taken over by a neighboring kingdom quickly after the sudden murders and his disappearance, Jona never seriously considered going back. His whole life he had envied his brother and dreamed of being the king but now the thought scared the hell out of him. So he stayed in his simple and relatively safe new life.

Until the curse, that is.

-Short version-

Jona was the second born prince of Celinnon. He was upset with his parent for not spending time with him and envied his older brother who would eventually become king. His uncle showed up and spent loads of time with him while brainwashing the small boy into thinking his family were evil tyrants in the progress. The evil uncle had Jona help him execute his evil plan of killing the royal family when the fabulous prince was 21 years old. Jona thought they were going to throw his family in jail and make him king but his uncle had his family killed instead. Jona was rather upset by this and killed his uncle. However, he didn't have the guts to try and explain the situation he found himself from and become the king so he fled his kingdom. Jona later joined another kingdom's army and lived a cozy and simple life for two years before the mighty curse swept across the lands and Jona was poofed on Desky Island.
