Alan
Alan was washing the dishes after dinner. The older boys were expected to help out around the house, we'll all of them were supposed to help but usually the older boys would help out more so the younger ones didn't have to do much. He did his best to make sure the little one's time here was as good as it could be...which still wasn't very good but he did his best...and he still failed at it.
As he washed the dishes he thought about what it would be like to not be here and to have a normal life away from Mr. Wilson and his cruelness. He liked the other boys here but he couldn't help but wish for a normal life, with parents who cared about him or at the very least a caretaker who didn't abuse him.
He had a few bruises from a recent beating, he had stolen a piece of bread from the kitchen and Mr. Wilson didn't like that. If the old man had fed them more he wouldn't have had to steal it. He had only taken one because he knew if he had taken any more than that the old man would have noticed.
Willy
Willy climbed up the stairs eager to play with his toys after dinner. Getting into the room all the boys shared he grabbed the two toy cars they had and pushed them across the room pretending they were racing. Today had been a pretty good day, no one had gotten a beating and he had a decent amount to eat. He overall loved being at the orphanage...well maybe not quite love, but he tried to make the best of it.
He liked playing with the other boys, especially the ones who liked hugs and kisses. No one had ever told him it was weird that he was so affectionate and he didn't care. Showing physical affection was the only way he knew to show he cared about someone. Plus it helped him with his need for affection, so he figured it helped everyone involved.
"Does anyone wanna play?" He called to the other boys who weren't washing dishes. He held up one of the cars for them to play with in case someone did want to play. Besides the cars they had a few books, a ball, and two stuffed bunnies. It wasn't much but Willy didn't mind. He wondered who he would sleep with tonight? Mr. Wilson had only given them two beds to sleep on so every night they would split up and half the boys sleep in one bed and half in the other.
