The older woman laughed softly and wearily at all Azel questions. "Slow down, young one. I can only answer one at a time," she paused a moment a cleared her throat timidly,"Your status has no effects on me. I do not know if it was common among Silverwing, but among my kind sibling mates were rather common. My own brother and sister were mates. As for both being male, that is an interesting twist. Disgusted not all. Worried some for your sakes. As for Aleris and ruins, I gave up looking long before I came to the town, so I never checked the ruins. One moment." She woobled off to the back.

Calvin's mind tried to wrap around everything she was saying. For some reason, hearing that it was not as taboo as he thought gave him some relief. He looked around the shop as spoke and would tap Azel's shoulder when he saw something he recognized for poisons. When she started talking on Aleris his mind snapped to her. She had his full attention.

She wobbled back in with a map. "This is a map of my travels and planned travels before I got too tired of looking and being hunted," she said setting a dusty map in front of her.

"This is a map..."

His eyes widened slightly. He grasped the worn map, unrolling it. He peered at the extensive detail. His eyes lit up. "T-there are s-so many places w-we haven't t-traveled!" he breathed. His fingers skimmed across the planned marks. Most of her discovered travels were places they already checked. However, his heart filled with hope. There were other places to search! "A-According to legend, t-the entrance w-was hidden in plain sight. O-only the blood of a creature can d-detect it. A-A riddle was composed long ago," he murmured. His fingers skimmed the worn paper, tracing his fingertips along the uncharted dots. Despite his fatigue, he was genuinely pleased. When it came to Aleris, his mood lightened. His optimism prevented him from deflating at the elderly woman's comments about giving up. He would never quit. Finding Aleris was his destiny. Azel wanted to live in a world where he could roam free with his mate.

"On thy full moon, thy path will be opened. Seek where it never been sought. Think where it never been imagined. One drop of blood will show thy entrance. Only those will an open heart will find Aleris," he recited. Over the years, he deciphered most of the riddle. However, he didn't understand the blood sacrifice. Why did he need to spill a drop of blood? Where would he spill it? He lifted his head and beamed at the older woman. His expression softened. "T-thank you f-for helping us," h murmured. A cough escaped his lips. He rubbed his throat absentmindedly. He was at his limit.

Calvin listened the him recite the oh so familiar phrase. He whispered and slightly grumbled along with it by habit. Sometimes he wondered if his heart was open enough to find Aleris with his brother. He only prayed it was. Calvin stepped forward with another statement of gratitude, "You for all that you have done for you." His words were slightly grumbled but the lady knew just how thankful he was and smiled. "You two take care and stop by again when you can. Seeing another dragon is... Hope bringing," she said happily and wearily.

"Go ahead and look around for anything you may need on your travels. Take some bay leaves also," she said as she sat down in a chair behind the counter.Calvin pondered on why she gave up, but it became rather obvious to him. She had lost hope and an open heart. Probably, she had grown old and tired in every way. He looked around the shop and got the bay leaves. There was not really much else he needed.

Azel nodded in response. He presented her a gentle smile. He was pleased seeing another dragon. He hoped her map would help them find Aleris. He was determined to locate the entrance. He wanted to give everyone hope, not just his mate. After he discovered Aleris, Azel intended to show every creature. Some had the audacity of mocking him, thinking he was daft. However, they would regret it! Azel carefully rolled the map closed. He wobbled over towards Calvin, stumbling along the way. He wrapped his arms around his brother's arm. He held out the map for Calvin. He nuzzled his face against his mate's arm. A wave of exhaustion washed over him. He wanted to leave this town. He knew he was suppose to rest, but how could he?

Calving happily accept his brother's love and embrace. Then he finished gathering the supplies they would need other his free hand and took them up to the counter leading Azel along with him. "Oh, you just take what you need. Do not worry about the price," elderly woman said. Calvin sighed and grumbled. She laughed softly. He did not like leaving someone unpaid when they actually earned it and it was obvious to her. She smiled wearily and said, "You left me with enough the other day for what you needed and this." He nodded and let that settle it. He turned to Azel. "Now, you need to rest some more before we move to the next town. We can find a place in the woods or go back to the inn. What would you like?" he questioned softly and with much consideration.

Azel followed Calvin, leaning against him for support. His knees were wobbly. His lack of rest prevented him from gaining enough momentum. He peered at the elderly woman. A warm smile painted his lips. He inclined his head politely, showing his gratitude. He made a mental note to remember her. If she was alive by the time they found Aleris, he would escort her personally. He respected elder dragons. He listened to their wisdom. His eyes averted towards Calvin. A small frown marred his lips. "T-the woods," he croaked. He didn't want to stay in that Inn, not after what happened. A shiver surged down his spine. Shadow walkers are dangerous. His mind recalled the shadow possessing his body, creating a horrific illusion. A small yawn escaped his lips. He rubbed his eyes sleepily. He pulled his hood over his head, obscuring his face from view. He didn't want civilians witnessing his scars.

The woman looked puzzled over this conclusion. Calvin gently helped Azel start to walk towards the door walking his feet making sure he was alright. "I will make sure we sleep close to town so We can come back in a few days and our weap-," he spoke but was cut off. The little woman stood up and talked over him,"No, that is no good. Not in human bodies. You two sleep in back. I happen to have plenty of space and extra blankets. I have no bed to offer but a dry place to sleep. You stay here." Calvin wanted to argue with her about it, but he had much respect for the elder dragon. Something in him just wanted out of the town though. He looked to Azel with much question wondering how he felt about it all.

Azel reached for the door, but stopped. He turned around, peering at the elderly woman. His eyes widened slightly. His expression reflected bewilderment. He never dealt with a kind offer like that. Both of them were never offered a place to stay. He bit his lip. He wanted to protest, but it would be incredibly rude. He respected elder dragons, including their decisions. His instincts screamed to accept. "Y-o-'re a 'ery kind woman," he rasped. He bowed to her respectively. However, he almost fell to the floor. A light blush dusted his cheeks. He wrapped his arms firmly around his mate's bicep. "W-we'll stay," he added softly. His hand rubbed his throat. It was painful for him to speak. A nice cup of tea would sooth his raw voice. He presented her a small, grateful smile. He didn't want to linger in this town for long. Something about it was mysterious.

The woman nodded at his answer and gestured with her arm for them to follow her. Calvin pauses a moment thinking about the division then deciding it must be the best one. He could still do things around the town while Azel was being watching over by someone they could actually trust. Calvin never really trusted anyone but another dragon was a different story. He wondered slightly to himself what this encounter would have looked like before dragons had to hide as he helped Azel after her. He thought it would probably teeth to claw. In the wild, different dragon species did not get along. They were mostly territorial also. Now, any dragon was a friend because they had no territory. They also were just no longer the enemy. It was now played by the humans.

He carefully helped Azel after he taking him first behind the counter as she directed. Then through a doorway covered in a blanket. A small hallway with a few pictures led into a small area with a small kitchen looking area and another small doorway. As he walked through the first hall, Calvin took note of the pictures on the walls finding the paintings of dragons inviting and intriguing. He then turned his eyes to Azel making sure he was coming along with him fine.

Azel peered at the walls. His eyes filled with curiosity. He leaned against his mate for support, clutching his bicep. A few questions formulated inside his mind, but he bit his lip. It would be rude if he questioned the elderly woman about her family. He was in no condition to speak. He lifted his head and stared at Calvin. He presented him a small, reassuring smile. "I'm fine," he mouthed. He stumbled forward, tripping on a loose board. His face flushed instantly. A wave of embarrassment washed over him. "Mostly," he croaked. He regained his composure, following the old woman. He gripped Calvin's arm, strengthening his support. He was capable of walking, but his movements were sluggish. He hated burdening his brother. Why did his body prevent him from simple movement! His condition irritated him. However, he was too exhausted too complain. His instincts screamed to rest. Azel subconsciously leaned his head against Calvin's shoulder. His eyes drooped a little. A small yawn escaped his lips.

The quickly got them blankets and pillows. Then she went to the front again as they could hear the ever so slight creek in the door humans could not. Calvin smiled to Azel and hugged him close. "Today was hard on you. Now, finish resting," he said and he gently let go of Azel leaving him to stand on his own while he set up the pallets for them. Calvin sighed as he looked outside seeing the sun was still high. "I am going to go out and purchase this sword. By the time I get back, the sun should be setting and I will join you," he said, "now, get some more rest. I am sure this woman can protect you." He ruffled Azel's hair taking the sword and leaving.

Azel returned the hug. He relinquished being in his mate's arms. He mustered up a small, reassuring smile. Azel complied to Calvin's request, settling on the floor. "S-stay safe," he rasped gently. After Calvin left, Azel wrapped a blanket around his shoulders. His eyes fluttered shut. A few minutes later, he drifted off. Sleeping on the floor didn't bother him that much. He was use to uncomfortable arrangements. However, it wouldn't matter as long as Calvin was by his side. His brother always made it endurable. An innocent expression plastered on his slumbering face. He dreamed of the possibilities with the worn scroll. Azel intended to explore the uncharted dots that haven't been visited. He was determined to find Aleris. One of the dots had to be it!

Calvin left and returned to the blacksmith's shop. He was expecting hell to come down on him for the way he took off with the sword. He was prepared though. It may have not been his thing to communicate with humans but making deals he could sometimes do. His legs carried him into the shop where he was greeted by the loudly angry blacksmith. "Why the hell did you take off with my sword?" he demmanded answers. Calvin smirked. "I need a long sword and wanted to see if this one would do. I will take. How much?" he asked confidently. The blacksmith pulled it from his hands and said, "For the likes of you, more than you have." Calvin's eyes twitched with a little anger at this.

((sorry it had been so long.))
