"It is my job to protect our students, Logan." He seemed to be implying he meant James as well, in this case. He gave Annette an exhausted glance before briskly assisting the student in proceeding down the hall.

Jake paused at this. "You sure you wouldn't want to talk to the guidance counselor? I'll see what Mr. Wilson is doing, but I think you should talk to ehr as well, at least." Jake interrupted Aviv and Kisho for a moment while he made use of the phone himself. He called the extension for the office. "... Hello, Sasha? Can you tell me if Logan has a class at the moment?" There was a pause while Jake listened, before soon turning to Minori and giving her a frown. "... I understand. Thanks." Sighing, he hung up the phone. "Sorry, Minori, Mr. Wilson's gone home for the day."
Troy grunted at that as he entered the room, practically carrying James. Jake's eyes went wide at the sight. "He was kicked in the chest. I don't know if he can talk."
"Is he breathing okay?" Jake asked. Thankfully, there were two exam tables in the room, so Jake directed James and Troy to the second one. "Nod if you can breath," Jake requested as he dug into a cabinet.
