I lose PM's so fast. ;;; Between site-events, contest submissions and staff work all these PM's EVEN SORTED are a hell to go through. I don't even wanna imagine roleplaying in there.
PROS TO FORUMS:
- You get so many more options coding-wise!!! PM's will SMUDGE them together and make them ugly, or has a much narrower field to code in. They also act differently from the forums, so a neat sheet in the forums will not look as pretty in the PM's!!!
- You can ALWAYS find the old rp in the archives no matter how old as long as you remember username and title or certain keywords of the RP (like character names) by using the search function. Should you ever leave a PM and your partner does as well there is NO WAY to help you find the RP again!
- You can stalk your own thread or that of others offline if they are in the public spaces.
- NEVER WRITE A SAMPLE POST AGAIN FOR A POTENTIAL PARTNER JUST LINK THEM A ROLEPLAY YOU ENJOYED.
Hahaha, MY RPs are so cringy. Like, straight out of the gaia text of predictable stories. Even worse (for some people) they are all one liners. The horror. I enjoy one liners so much. Stress free enjoyment. Sadly both of these get a lot of hate so I hide away so I don't get judged haha. But I assure you, I love and enjoy your site very much.
WE ARE HERE TO ENJOY A SHARED HOBBY. NOT TO REVIEW AND SLAUGHTER EACH OTHER. WRITE YOUR CRINGE. BE SUPER WORD PORNY. DO THEM IN ONE LINERS. NO ONE CAN TAKE THAT JOY AWAY FROM YOU. AND IF SOMEONE TRIES REPORT AND STAFF SMACKS.
Also imagine being so joblessly idle that someone gotta ruin the fun and enjoyment of others. Damn. Don't like don't read.
To be fair I can't keep track of threads as easily. There's not a handy page where I have links, who posted last, when they posted, etc. So I tend to forget where things are and if I've replied, etc.
I know Diana already said this but watching your threads helps a lot. It will notify you in the same way PM's does (as in the alert won't go away until you read that new post) and if you go under the tab of 'watched threads' you can find everything from who posted last, to when they posted last.
For those who want to know when their partners read their rp last, so reading dates, I for one have that turned off. I actually HATE that feature anywhere. So the forums not having that nonsense is a blessing to me.
If you want to be able to sort your roleplays, I use
Trello to sort my roleplays on where I owe a response, where I already responded and am waiting for a response AND anything I'm planning still. It is convenient! And linking threads is much easier than linking PM's. ANOTHER PRO!!!
Well... I don't feel comfortable with public RP.
Part of the content I play and part of.. well.. you know.. those people
Unless you are doing anything that is against the site rules the forums are open for all. There is the Star section after all for all that can't stand the light of day.
And should you do anything against the rules, EVEN IN PM THERE ARE LIMITS AND MEMBERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO REPORT.
Come to think of it, just a synopsis of my main rp in PM's would probably be interesting. But uhhhhh...... After a while people would easily get sick of it. I can't help that I love putting the same characters in different scenarios over. and over. and over.
You'd be surprised if you just put it out on the forums!!! The same character in different settings or with different partners will blossom in different ways, just as that the same story can change entirely!!!
I tend to have a issue sticking with a RP long term.....so I doubt the mods would enjoy a 1000 small rps needing to be moved to the graveyard each time...and that is just one of the issues.
I can tell you that I have about as many threads in the archives by me alone. It is fine, no one will judge you for that. It happens. You lose interest or your partner does. Or you get BUSY.
As long as you enjoyed yourself.
Besides, as pointed out before, we give the option to members to submit a request to revive their threads. Some members do that for ALL of their threads at once and I at least love seeing that happen!
