OOC - Discord - Interest Check - IC​

• Story •​

The year was 2015. The world had descended into another World War, although it had ended just as quickly as it had started. The governments of the world had dove into chemical warfare, for this was no longer a fair fight. Nobody knows who dropped the virus, "Virus X" as others called it, or when it had started, but all the survivors remember now is it swept over the world in the blink of an eye. What was once just another world war was now possibly the end of civilization as we know it.

Naturally, survivors had fled to areas that were once less populated. The north, the backwoods of the south, even west beyond the Rocky Mountains. There survivors began to find peace. The woods provided plenty of food, while the colder temperatures of Oregon and Washington made day's slightly more bearable. It was sort of a refuge for those who wished to survive easy, if it was possible at all.

As 2 years passed people began to think they are safe, but problems emerged. Some took to cannibalism saying the animals they hunted could become infected too. This was never proven to be true, but that didn't stop the rumor from spreading like wildfire. Some survivors began to ban together, create groups and families in broken down cities, finding comfort in numbers. Some roam alone.

In addition, some are immune to the virus. It is unknown as to why, and very few actually carry this immunity. Said immunity can be passed genetically.

• Plot •​

Survivors are flocking to the east coast to board the last boats to safety. This has brought them through the town Huber Heights, located in Ohio surrounded by woods and highways. Being in a far out place not many people have gone through the town leaving some supplies still there. A small group of survivors form there in hopes of making it to Norfolk, Virginia.

As the group moves a cannibal pack hunts them, tracking there movements as they travel to Virginia.

• Xelapin Virus •​

Symptoms

5 minutes: Mild headache, cough, and runny nose.
30 minutes: Severe cold like symptoms. I.e Migraine, sore throat, cough, sneezing.
1 hour: Muscle spasm and cold sweats replace cold symptoms.
2 hours: Extreme body heat and lose of muscle movement.
5 hours: Infected has a hard time staying awake and sharp pains erupt through body.
9 hours: Internal organs begin to fail and internal bleeding.
10 hours: Lungs fill with blood and infected dies.
24 hours: The body has restarted and reverted back to primal instincts.

People infected revert back to primal instincts and only think of killing. They have very little energy in the night. In the day they have a lot of energy and can jog slowly. Any shot to the body that would kill a normal human can kill them.

Cannibals - The Pack
The pack is known for their animalistic ways. Much like wolves The Pack has a hierarchy based on strength, the alpha being the strongest. Members of the pack are separated into 3 groups, hunters, protectors, and members. The hunters go out, kill, and bring the bodies back to eat. Protectors do like the name states, they protect the group from any undead or humans. The other members of the group take care of all the other little things like cleaning, watching after the young, washing clothes, or taking care of the elders. The Pack is also known for their inhuman abilities such as heightened senses, enhanced strength or speed, etc. When eating The Pack chooses to eat like wild animals, not cooking their food instead eating it raw.

Mode of Dress/Outfit: Tends to wear what she can find, likes black because it's both her style and blends in. So long as its easy to move around in and comfortable, she's probably wear it. You can't afford to be picky in the apocalypse.

Health Ailments: Bipolar II, mild asthma, nearsightedness (wears contacts when she can find them, doesn't have glasses), recovering benzo addict.
Extra: Wears thick black eyeshadow for intimidation, as Vikings did long ago. While she does have a palette of eyeshadow still, she mostly just uses charcoal.

Outer Personality: Alice puts on a finely crafted facade of toughness and badassery. She acts the part of a bully and will fight anyone, anywhere. Those who just met her or don't know her well, they know she can just be a bitch to other people. She's rough and gruff, and has a shell that nobody is allowed to get past. Her addiction to benzos does show through, and she can become irritable in what seems an instant. She is horribly blunt and rude to people if she doesn't like them. She thrives on chaos and destruction, and loves to just take a bat to something and destroy it. She comes off as a typical bad girl, and likes to keep it that way.
Inner Personality: When people know Alice, they start to realize that everything she stands for is completely a defense mechanism. It takes a long time to get past her shell, but when her walls are down it's easy to see she's actually quite a kind and generous person. Especially when she is in a state of depression, she becomes almost weepy and defenseless, but she hides it as best as she can. She has choice people who she depends on for support, even without saying so.

Alice was born to a very normal suburban family of three. She was not the last child, however, and when she was 7, she got a baby sister. She wasn't pleased with this at all, and really hated her sister. She got in trouble for trying to get rid of the baby a lot. Alice grew up as the middle child, and was mostly ignored. Her older brother, who was five years older than her, excelled in school. He was mommy and daddy's little genius. He was taking advanced classes for his age, while Alice was just average in school. Her sister, on the other hand, excelled at sports. She was the most athletic of the kids, and won ribbons and trophies for her teams. Alice wasn't in sports, nor did she like them. Alice liked to draw, but wasn't very good at it. Alice liked to sing, but wasn't very good at it.
Alice wasn't good at many things, and felt ignored. She held resentment for her siblings far into her teens, and still does hold some towards them.

When she reached middle school, Alice became obsessed with dark things. She loved vampires, werewolves, demons, witches, and everything associated. She started writing about them and drawing them and dressing as them. When Twilight came out, she was upset about it because they weren't real enough. Her parents did become worried about her, but thought it was just a phase. This started to shape her style and music preferences. She started listening to hard rock, and it has remained her favorite music. She began to become a bit rebellious during this time, dressing in ways her parents didn't approve of, staying out late, and hanging out with older kids. Nothing severe, so her parents didn't worry too much.

When she was 15, her bipolar disorder started to show its face. She had panic attacks almost weekly, and could barely function some days. It got bad enough over a couple years, that she attempted suicide when she was 17. It didn't succeed, but it was finally enough of a push for her parents to get her into therapy. She was put on some medications, one being alprazolam. She started to see improvement, but pretty quickly got addicted to her meds. It was well hidden from her parents, considering it was a required medication for her.

When Alice was 16, her party life started to elevate. She went to parties on the weekends, and would black out at every one of them. She did all sorts of drugs she could get her hands on, but nothing really satisfied her like Xanax. Her mental health started to deteriorate, and it peaked when she was 17, which is when she tried to kill herself using a bottle of painkillers she stole from her mom. When she got out of the hospital, she was put into rehab and taken off of Xanax. When she got out, she was sober for a good three years. She went to college for art and design, started to write and get money from a webcomic, and started a job in a marketing company. Her life seemed to be on the right track.

When she was 23, she was reintroduced to Xanax by a friend of hers. She relapsed almost immediately. She was fired from her job after not coming in for six days, she failed all of her classes and was dropped from the university, and was evicted from her apartment. She moved in with the friend who got her back into Xanax, and the two began dating. The relationship was less than optimal, and she was mistreated. Another friend of hers was the one who finally got her out and started to get her back on her feet, and she owed him her life. She went back into rehab, and began to recover. She started to date the guy who got her out, and the two loved each other. They moved in together, and were even planning on getting married in a couple years.

That's when the virus came. Alice and Darren, her boyfriend, packed up what little things they had left and started to drive until their fuel ran out. They continued on foot. They were trying to get to Alice's parents' secluded hunting cabin in the country. She knew there was food, a well, weapons, and animals for hunting. They were stopping for supplies at a small gas station on the highway when they surprised another survivor in the station. He shot and wounded Darren, but he and Alice managed to run away before any more damage could be done. He didn't make it a week before he succumbed to sepsis. They hadn't made it to her cabin, and Alice was out of food. She did what she had to do, and began to eat what she could from the flesh that wasn't infected. He was her first human meal, and she found she unfortunately started to enjoy the taste. Human became her main food source. She found The Pack while she was still trying to get to the cabin, and instead decided to join them. She doesn't like that she isn't in control of herself, but it's a much easier life than going it alone.

Outer Personality: Hiro is a jovial guy. He likes to joke around and wears his heart on his sleeve. He loves to be around people all the time, and really hates being alone for too long. He makes friends easily, and is easy to open up to. He isn't judgmental, and thinks everyone has a right to do what they want. He does fall in love a little too easily, which can often lead to heartbreak. Despite being older, he does enjoy being a little immature sometimes, and likes things that are more for the younger crowd. However, he would never be immature about a situation, and is actually a very mature person when it comes to such. He is very caring and considerate for his fellow humans, almost to the point of being a doormat. He just takes everything in stride, and loves to make people smile.
Inner Personality: Mostly the same as his outer self, Hiro is a joker through and through. However, he does have a dark side to his jokes. They can often turn inappropriate and dark. Once he gets to know a person, he starts to bring out the puns as well. He becomes a bit more down to earth around people he knows, and is more calm and collected. He might be an optimistic joker, but he likes to sit and think things through before he acts. He isn't one to be impulsive. He does tend to become more serious, and starts to use more inside jokes with those he knows well. He still retains his caring attitude, but he becomes much more serious and protective when those he loves are threatened.

Hiro had a relatively normal life. He was born in Los Angeles to Japanese immigrants, and was the oldest child. His brother was born when Hiro was two, and his sister when he was 5. The three grew up together and were inseparable. Their parents were strict, but not overly so, and let the kids go explore on their own when they were old enough. They went to a good public school and never wanted for anything. Their parents weren't rich, but they had money. Hiro and his siblings grew up in a good home with good friends and a good education.

When Hiro got into middle school, he started to get really interested in band and computers. His parents got him music lessons on piano and guitar, and he excelled at it. His school had a few computers, and he was on them whatever chance he got, and got incredibly good at using them. His parents bought one for the house, and he started to explore even further. In highschool, he was very popular for his music and computer skills. It was also in high school he admitted he was gay to his parents, who were thankfully accepting towards him. He didn't date much, however, as he really didn't feel the need to. As he aged, he became a computer whiz and amazing on piano and guitar. He decided he would got to college to learn computer programming, but soon found he actually didn't like it. He changed his major a few times before deciding to actually drop out when he was 25. He had found his true calling, or so he thought, which was making electronic music.

As a DJ, he became quite popular around the small Los Angeles clubs, and had gigs almost every weekend. He DJed for a good few years, and eventually decided to move out of LA to northern California, away from city living, in hopes of finding happiness. He moved into a small apartment, and lived there until he was 31 years old, working at a radio station as a host. Still unhappy with his life, he decided to take a road trip cross country and see the sights of America. He made it to Indiana when he started hearing about the virus, and he was forced to abandon his car in Ohio once the highway started to be overrun with abandoned cars and the dead. He packed what he could of his luggage into his hiking backpack, and left the rest. He ran into a group of survivors shortly after and has been travelling with them.

Outer Personality and Inner Personality -
Etcher is a gruff and straight forward person, saying what he thinks, how he feels, and strongly states his opinion. He butts head with both the Alpha of the Pack, Fiona Black and the Beta, Jasper Night-Hale, and anyone else his interests don't align with.
He is brass and out going, often determine to fight his way out of any situation rather than retreat; both making him brave and stupid. He relies on himself and mistrusting of most others; especially in a group of cannibals.
While he is often rude; he isn't a flat out dick. He likes to drink and cut loose with other members of the Pack when things are going good.

HISTORY​

Backstory -
Before the outbreak
Etcher grew up in southern Kentucky, in a poor family. His father left before he was born, and his mother was a drug addicted prostitute. A single child, he grew up angry at the world. Bullying smaller children and getting into fights with other kids became a common occurrence.
With a lack of discipline at home, Etcher dropped out of high school and fell in with the bad crowd. Eventually his connections lead him to joining the Outlaws, an infamous Biker Gang. During his time in the gang, he committed many crimes ranging from robberies, theft, and murder.
After the outbreak
At the beginning of the outbreak, Etcher found himself with his biker family. They slowly started to push towards the East Coast, but as they neared the coast the groups numbers dwindled. At first it was just due to the infected, then other groups, but then many started to drop due to sickness. Etcher managed to notice it was due to infected animals. He proposed to the rest of the group to look towards cannibalism.The group was disgusted by what Etcher proposed and quickly casted him out of the group.
