Thinking about the fact that this was the last year of summer camp for Hannes was something that had actually made him quite sad the weeks leading up to it. But it didn't keep him feeling excited as soon as he got there, though. Finally getting to see the familiar fields of grass and buildings after waiting to get back there for an entire year.
There was no proper activities the first couple of days, just some random and somewhat organized sports and games while everyone got settled in, caught up with old friends and made some new ones.
Hannes had made a point of it to get to know as many new people as possible every year and the couple of people that had stuck around for the same amount of time as he had gotten used to him finding different groups to hang out with every year and also him just talking to everyone in general.
He was currently standing out in the already blazing morning sun in a small crowd of other campers his age casually talking while one of the counsellors were calling out their names and asking how they would spend their time before lunch with a choice of getting some sport equipment and play whatever they wanted or going down to to the beach to swim. Hannes found the fact that they had to specify what they wanted to do ever so redundant but he assumed it was so that they would know whether to worry about someone they couldn't find had drowned or not.
Hannes name had already been called and he had signed up for doing random sports, even though it was really hot out and swimming probably would be more pleasant, he just figured he'd he'd rather wait until later to change into swim trunks.
Everyone seemed to split pretty fifty-fifty to the two activities and everyone responded quickly to get the day started as soon as possible. That was until they were about halfway down the list when someone seemed to make it a point to not.
"Jayken Matthews" the counselor repeated themselves and people looked around in confusion. Hannes had no idea who Jayken was and he had probably not introduced himself to him properly, "Not here? Could someone go check on him and see if he overslept?"
Hannes looked around at the reluctant teens around him and raised his hand as it didn't seem as if anyone else would. A girl next to him with freckled skin and a curly mess of a ponytail chuckled slightly and mumbled: "of course you would".
Hannes gave her a glare, he knew she wasn't serious, though, The girl who's name was Emma, had been there last year and was only pointing out his predictable behavior for some good hearted fun.
"I'll do it," he said as he was done glaring at Emma, the counselor nodded and went back to calling out names as Hannes turned around and started to walk back to the indoors and sleeping areas. It wasn't that uncommon for people to oversleep during the morning activities, Hannes had done it a couple of times as well although during some of the occasions he just hadn't really felt enough motivation to get out of bed, that didn't happen too often at camp since there always was a lot to look forward to.
"Yo! I'm looking for someone called Jayken, and if you could come out here it'd be totally awesome!" Hannes called out as he walked into the building where people had their rooms. He figured he would call out before starting to knock on doors in hope that they guy would come out by himself and Hannes could tell him to wake up and then go back to the sun outside.
