Name: Leander Esrysson
Age: 48
Birthdate: July 5th 230 NE
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Caerleon
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Height: 5'11"
Weight: 176 lbs
Personality: Leander is a kind gentleman. He is known for his kindness, but also his fairness. He has the confidence and bravery of a true king, and his people know it. While he is courageous, Leander also keeps some level of prudence about him. He will not go blindly into a fight, and will instead watch carefully for signs of weakness before attacking. He is a very determined person, and doesn't give up so easily. He is a leader first, and a strategist second. If the fight seems like it will go south, there is no dishonor in saving his people and retreating for the moment.
Even though Leander does seem hardened and like he has no room for fun, he does enjoy parties and dances just as much as anyone else. He enjoyed watching his young children, and would often chase them through the halls, before they would collapse in a pile of giggles. Of course, those days are now over for the most part, as he has no plans of siring any other children. However, if there is no work to be done, which is quite rare for a king, or if he just needs a break, he might often be found in the town square during festivals thrown by the commoners. He always makes a plan to at least visit the largest of the festivals. Because of his common misfortune, Leander does tend to think of himself as cursed, thus tends to expect the worst. He can be seen as an optimist to everything except for himself.
Backstory: Leander was born to Rodric Esrysson in 230 NE, of which he had only one other sibling, Brandon Esrysson. The two grew up together and were quite close. Leander met Lady Aurelia when he was 19 years old, and the two soon fell in love. They did not marry right away, however, and instead wanted to wait to marry and raise their children in more peaceful times.
Both Brandon and Leander participated in the battle where their father died. They both grieved heavily after they learned of the news, though not for long, as Brandon had to be crowned quickly. Leander was there at the coronation, silently cheering his brother on, even though it was a very grim event having taken place only days after their father's funeral. With Brandon king, and with their father's death heavy on their hearts, his Highness created peace with the Empire, so no other sons would have to endure the death of their father. Soon after this proclamation, their mother also passed, seemingly from loneliness. Immediately after this peace, Aurelia and Leander became engaged and married, and had their first son, Anre. They small family could not be happier. They lived in the castle with Brandon, even though Brandon had offered them their own private villa in the country. Leander wanted to stay close to his family roots, and Aurelia just wanted to stay with her husband and child. The happy couple had two more children, another son, Dominic, and Aurelia's long awaited daughter, Orlagh.
Unfortunately, happy times must come to an end. Aurelia came down with a disease. The physicians didn't know what it was. It didn't seem like it would be fatal. She was kept isolated, and only Leander and some servants were allowed to visit her and bring her food and water. He would allow his children to see her if they asked, but he didn't want to burden them with seeing their mother in that state. It seemed like her illness was getting better, and they rejoiced, saying that they would have one more child together before leaving it at that. Unfortunately, later that year, Aurelia passed leaving Leander in a state of depression that lasted for months. This only deepened when his brother had the same illness as Aurelia. He too visited Brandon every day. However, it took the king even faster than it took Aurelia. Brandon had no wife or children, so it came to Leander to take the crown, which he accepted immediately.
Shortly after Brandon's death, he became close to the lady Isolde Greenwood who helped him along the way with his grieving. She seemed to not mind that he obviously still loved Aurelia greatly. He took comfort in her presence. The two soon married, and she bore him a son, Rodric. Now, as Leander becomes older, he knows he needs to name an heir. His wife urges him to name Rodric as the next king. However, Leander feels as though Anre is much more suitable for the task. He is conflicted, and everyone seems to have their own interests at heart, instead of the safety and protection of his people.

Name: Anre Esrysson
Title: Crown Prince of Caerleon
Age: 26
Birthdate: 3 December, 252 New Era
Gender: Male
Nationality: Caerleon
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Appearance
Anre is a tall, handsome man with pale blue eyes and shoulder-length black hair. He is a slender, well-built man, who often dresses in black robes.
Height: 6'3"
Weight: 185 lbs
Personality
Anre is a polite, well-mannered prince, who is well-shaped for his position as the Crown Prince of Caerleon. He respects all of the kings and noblemen as well as the commoners of his realm, and understands the significance of his future role as the protector of the realm, and thus he aims to shape his personality around that of his father, the king. He is also very kind and caring towards his younger siblings, hoping to be a role model for them in the future. Anre has various flaws, in that he trusts much too easily. He likes to give people a chance without judging them based on their pasts, and therefore he often has shady characters surrounding him. However, although he is initially merciful, when wronged, Anre ensures that he carries out justice swiftly, and he practices justice mercilessly. It could be said that Anre is too serious for his own good.
Backstory
Anre is the eldest son of King Leander, born during the reign of his uncle King Brandon. Once his father became king, Anre realised the expectations that the people would have for him, and began to mould himself to become a future king. He trained in sword fighting, horse riding and martial arts as well as in literature, art and music, and was known to be a very cultured prince.
During his maiden battle in 271 NE, while putting down the rebellion of the rebellious lord Rogen Selroth, Anre charged ahead and personally killed nine enemy soldiers but he was struck by a stray arrow during the battle. Wounded by the arrow, he was cut down by one of the enemy soldiers, but the rebelling lord spared his life and took him captive instead. Anre was held for ransom by Lord Selroth, but before the ransom money could have been transferred, Anre set fire to the lord's castle and slaughtered his entire family as they attempted to escape. This was one example of Anre's mercilessness when wronged.
Anre later began to educate himself with battle tactics in order to prevent such a disaster from occurring on the battlefield again. In 273 NE, Anre was betrothed to a woman named Ashelia Mayne, who was a potential suitor, however, Ashelia's father Denys was secretly plotting to kill the king so that the Mayne family could become powerful. When Anre discovered the plot, he had Denys arrested and executed, and later forced Ashelia to commit suicide when he realised that she had always known her father's intentions. Anre spared the remaining members of the Mayne family and had them exiled from Caerleon. This is another example of Anre's merciless sense of justice.

Name: Orlagh Esrysson ("or" – "la")
Age: 20
Birthdate: August 11th, 258 NE
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Caerleon
Height: 5'3''
Weight: 58KG
Personality:
Somewhat wistful and withdrawn is what she appears to most, her physical anomaly giving her something of a reason to be so. Orlagh is a naïve, peaceful girl. Her head is awash with fairytales and stories of the outside world in place of her own, lacking experiences. In her naivity, she follows the trait of her eldest brother in that she is too trusting of any and all who accept her for who she is. Having suffered the scorn of those more superstitious, however, it is often hard for people outside of her family to become close with her. Many of the few close to her find she is quite different to how most would expect her to be. Beneath the porcelain cuteness and fragile demeanour is a girl with something of a playful streak and an unassuming wit. When at her most comfortable, her servants often talk of how her youthful and child-like energy is a refreshing addition to the day.
Backstory:
Born with eyes mismatched in colour, one crystal blue, the other emerald green, Orlagh was something of a tragedy to her parents. On one hand, the king had sired a strong, healthy boy – her twin brother – yet on the other his daughter was marked with a curse; such a mark often denoted that a great ill would befall the family and all close to them. Children born with this mark, while rare, were often left in the forests to die so that their curse could not bring harm to the family. However, King Leander paid no heed to these superstitions, not even when his wife passed away. Still, upon his coronation he realised that she was a political liability and she was in danger. If many others were to know of her condition they would feel that the very monarchy itself was cursed. So, to protect his daughter and his standing in court, he kept her hidden away to some degree. Growing in isolation, Orlagh found herself distanced from the courtly education her brothers received. Dominic, her brother, continued to be the 'better' sibling though she harboured no malice for that fact. In fact, she came to resent the idea of being a stately figure for fear of what that would mean for her and her family. So, she continued to live a life of luxury in the most comfortable prison in the world – the royal estate. Still, for all of the events that went on beyond the walls of the castle and for all of her naivety, Orlagh remains one of the most affluent people at court when it comes to information, for at court the walls have ears, and words spilled from loose lips often end up finding their way in confidence to Orlagh's ears – such is the benefit of being close with one's servants.

Personality:
Soft spoken but with a strong heart, Rodric is a bright young man swathed in tenacity. He isn't the strongest person or the most intelligent but when he sets his heart or mind on something, he doesn't give up. He sees potential in everyone and doesn't like to judge people without truly getting to know them. He can be a bit naive because of this but if he finds out someone has been taking advantage of him, he will reluctantly issue punishment and turn his back on them. He has a softer spot for animals and tends his aviary with great care. He believes that not only should the well being of the people be priority, but the gifts given to the people by Mother Nature.
He is very close with his mother, but he does not like to be coddled. He loves to explore and loves the freedom that he gets by not being the Crown Prince, but he also envies his elder brother's impending authority at times.

Strengths: A natural strategic and tactical genius, honed by long campaigns and a body straight out of the ancient fairy tales make Edric is a master of all things war, being it strategy or personal martial prowess.

Backstory: Edric is a child of the Wildlands, the untamed stretched of jungles and swamp lands that has never seen the light of civilization. It was the land, according to old tales, where dark beasts and darker men lurk and sleep freely with each other, spawning unnatural offsprings.
During the rebellion from 236-247 NE, Rodric Esrysson led the rebels into the Wildlands, where he found a newborn Edric crying within the arms of his dead mother. King Rodric took the baby back with him and fostered him as if he was his own child, in addition to his two trueborn sons.
Growing up, Edric shown a great affinity for the art of war. Name: Lochlann Bourdillon ("lok" – "lan")
Age: 28
Birthdate: March 5th, 250 NE
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Half Empire/Half Carleon
Height: 6'0''
Weight: 65KG
Role: Lord Conspiring /w Queen
Personality:
Charming, flirtatious and cunning: Lochlann is a noble fresh from a fairytale... or more a swashbuckling rogue from romance fiction. He's a diplomat at heart, casting words from a tongue of silver and striking deeper than any blade ever could. That's not to say he is one to shy away from conflict but he prefers to play the game of politics to achieve his goals. Lochlann is loyal to his family, but those are the only people he is loyal to. If someone is beyond his care, then he cares nothing for them or what happens to them. Some have said that he uses people and that he is a manipulator. Those people soon took back those words once Lochlann had a chance to talk with them and win them over to his side of things.
Backstory:
Born to the noble house Bourdillon, Lochlann is the only surviving member of importance and the Lord of the house. Still, the house itself is not one of the utmost prestige. His father was a traitor to the Empire, betraying them for a promise of land and a beautiful wife by one of the generals of the rebellion. Aiding in the siege of Lavindor, Lochlann's father was the one who opened the gates and ordered an entire garrison to stand down so that the rebels could take the city and his men might be spared. However, the deal that was stricken was then soon forgotten. The general refused to honour his end but it was too late, his daughter Naeva had already began to court the traitor in secret. A few years passed before the general found out, instantly calling for Lochlann's fathers execution and abandoning his daughter. However, the general was summoned to battle by the King, leaving matters to be resolved later. The man fell by the King's side. Naeva pleaded for Ayer, Lochalnn's father, to ride out to the battlefield to find her father. Alas, by the time he arrived he was too late. Rallying Naeva's father's men, Ayer managed to buy the main force time to retreat from the battlefield but took heavy losses. Inheriting the army and marrying Naeva, Ayer sired his son Lochlann.
Despite this great victory, the house was weakened with its lack of forces and the fact that it was headed by a man of the Empire, a soldier of the Empire, no less, was greatly unpopular. Lochlann's parents were assassinated in the night by unknown assailants in 271 NE. Once he caught the assassins, no amount of torture or coercion could convince them to give up the names of their employers, but Lochlann always suspected the Esryssons and the crown, thinking that it was a reprisal for their remaining neutral in the battle against the treasonous Lord Rogen Selroth. While Ayer had given his reasons for not participating, that his house was poor and lacking in troops, the feeling that resentment and suspicion laid at their doorstep was not one easily escaped. Taking lead of the house after his parent's died, the young Lochlann set about a quest to establish House Bourdillon as one of the most prominent and affluent houses in the whole kingdom and to acquire the truth on his parent's murder. How he would do this, however? Well, he would need to be smart.

Name: Keadan Lorgain
Age: 24
Birthdate: March 6th, 254 NE
Gender: Male
Ethnicity: Caerleon
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Height: 5'11
Weight: 160 lbs
Personality:
Keadan is quiet to the point of being nearly silent. He rarely speaks, instead tracking the world around him with a perpetual frown and disconcerting stare. He is incredibly private and withdrawn, rarely seeking out the company of others beyond what he absolutely must. While he may typically come across as cold, he doesn't particularly intend to alienate others, but is rather acutely aware of the difficulties involved due to his handicap (see weaknesses). While he can think quite deviously, he rarely acts on such ideas as he sees no reason to harm others without cause.
Likes:
Keadan is very fond of poetry, history, and writing or reading of any kind.
Dislikes:
He despises loud, busy areas such as large social gatherings or markets, or anything that involves a great deal of noise.
Fears:
Perhaps his two most notable fears are loneliness, and being inadequate.
Secrets:
Only a few of the servants he employs are aware of his ability to read lips. He also has a mental strategy outlined that would allow him to monopolize the entirety of black market trading in Caerleon and most of the surrounding kingdoms (see history).
Strengths:
He is fairly good at business, and his ability to read lips occasionally allows him to learn things of interest without others realizing his awareness.
Weaknesses:
Most notably, the fact that he is deaf can make communication extremely inconvenient, and at times put him at risk as well. He also has a habit of extreme self-reliance and failing to allow others to help him, no matter how badly he might need it.
Backstory:
Keadan was born the only child of a Aranin Lorgain, a general who served in the Rebellion of King Rufus V from its inception. His father was quite middle aged and already in possession of the land (a border stronghold formerly called Fort Hastain which Aranin besieged in 247 NE) granted to him by King Rodric before he had Keadan. His wife died when the boy was only two years old. Entirely attentive to his service to the crown and its military, Aranin Lorgain was rarely home, and took his son with him wherever he went on military business. Unable to participate in anything exciting that his father took part in, Keadan took to observing and remembering. Eventually his pent up boredom released in the form of writing short stories and poems, every now and then putting a simple tune to one of them. He wrote about the battles that his father and the other men spoke of, and shared his work with anyone who felt at all inclined to read it. Within a few years, he became recognized for both his exceptionally detailed and accurate accounts of Caerleon's brief history, but also his more dramatic, romanticized version of events.
During the Plague of 259-60 NE (recounted in one of his most famous poems, The Mark of Death and also referenced in The Eyes of Fate, which describes the birth and early life of Princess Orlagh in dramatized form), Keadan contracted the plague and his father took him to be treated by a so called 'healer' living on the border. For days the 'healer' refused to allow them to see each other while he 'treated' Keadan, insisting that his work would fail and Keadan would die if he were to be disturbed, and other such nonsensical drivel. All the while, he continued increasing his fee by the day. More and more continued going wrong throughout the weeks that followed, until the final straw came with one of the healer's methods rendering Keadan permanently deaf. It took time, but he eventually recovered from the plague, albeit with rather a weak constitution that has persisted ever since. Over the following years he learned how to read lips, and while he can still speak, he very rarely does.
Six years ago, the border city of Gerana near Castle Lorgain began to experience difficulties with trespassers and bandits from the neighboring kingdom of Shancera. Thefts and vandalism were frequent, and for a time Lord Lorgain was unsuccessful in solving the problem. Shortly thereafter, he was killed in a skirmish with the bandits. Even after an appropriate time to mourn his father had passed, he continued to wear black, and even now still does. However, upon hearing the news, Keadan took it upon himself to personally barge into the throne room of the King of Shancera, demanding to know if he had sanctioned the action. The exchange was poem worthy, in part simply for the impropriety of it, but also for the dramatic style of nonverbal communication that ensued.
Due to being stretched thin on other fronts, the King of Shancera chose not to inflame the potential for new conflict, and offered a handsome reward to whoever would bring in the the bandits, dead or alive. Keadan took his time, and eventually set a trap that succeeded in killing more than half of the bandits at once. The rest disbanded, and he and the king of Shancera parted ways as amiable acquaintances.
Keadan used the money from the King of Shancera by way of investment and expansion. In the years since his father's death, he has become quite wealthy through a business in logistics, utilizing his command of his father's soldiers - everything from wagons to horses to escorts; whatever it is, he can move it to almost anywhere while also guaranteeing security. Two main components of his success involve his acquaintance with the King of Shancera (who has granted him certain trading liberties), and the location of Castle Lorgain on the border, with direct access to the main trade route through Caerleon. While Keadan is a King's man by way of loyalty to his father's memory, he could just as easily use his connections to trade in the black market without anyone to be the wiser, and even monopolize it if he wished.

Age: 22
Birthdate: January 12th 256 NE
Gender: Female
Ethnicity: Tincen
Sexuality: Heterosexual
Height: 5'6"
Weight: 127 lbs
Personality: Shadia is an outwardly wonderful and warm person. She caters to everyone's whims, and doesn't leave anyone without what they want. However, those who are close to her can definitely see that she's not a sweetheart at all. She is cold and calculating, never taking no for an answer. Where there is a will, there is a way. She doesn't like being bossed around, but it's all she knows. However, she definitely thinks she would be better fit as a Queen of her own nation, creating the rules instead of following them. But for now, she stays locked up in her master's castle, wishing life had treated her differently.
Backstory: Shadia was born to two high standing nobles in Tincen, a rather technologically advanced and highly spiritual steppe city for its time. Unfortunately, her parents were part of a treasonous plot to depose their current king. They were found out, and her parents were executed, as well as her older siblings. She managed to be saved because she was so young when it happened, only 6 years old. She was taken in by the King, and was raised as a maid by the Housekeeper. Most of her life, she was a laundry maid, but when she reached age 15, she graduated to housemaid.
When she was 17, a peasant and servant rebellion popped up in the country, and she was taken by the ones who raised her, and were planning on joining the Empire. When the group passed through Caerleon, the group seemingly abandoned her there, so she stayed, and decided to do the only thing she knew how: be a maid. She was taken in by the castle maids, and was welcomed rather quickly. However, her heart is forever in her home town, and she will never betray it.
