Kanda frowned. He couldn't bring himself to his fire aura in his still weakened state and with how much water was around. He took out his blade, stepping in front of Ila and Emily. He pushed them behind him, looking at her with pain in his eyes. "Be careful..." He whispered, leaning forward to kiss her lips and Emily's forehead before turning back to the foe.

He was just going to have to fight as well as he could. Relying on instincts and tactical positions instead of his usual brute force.

Ila covered Emily's ears and turned her to her chest as the guard was devoured under the veil of red smoke. Then she was moved behind Kanda and before she could protest to him facing this creature.. she was kissed on the lips and she could feel her heart lift and sink all at once. He was doing his guardian thing...but in this rain? She feared... but she had a job just as important. To keep Emily safe. "..You too big guy. Don't die.. " She whispered back and took up a defensive stance. Ready to dodge if needed.

The red shroud never left the creature, or better yet.. it WAS a part of it's body, it was large, but as it moved you could just tell where the mist solidified to form large bone-crushing firsts and a snarling mouth of dagger-fangs dropped open to let out a thundering roar before returning to mist again.

It had it's target.. The girl.. but it could also see the threat of Kanda so paced along the top of the train like a lion stalking it's prey, drawing nearer and nearer to where ila and emily were hiding behind Kanda... just waiting for the moment to strike.

Kanda drew his hand over the hilt of the sword, calling into life a blade of fire. It was not as large as usual, nor as strong and it sputtered with the rain. Kanda knew, it could still bite and become deadly enough to kill.

When the sword of flame came to life the beast stopped for a moment to let out a growl, it's face solidifying enough to show an angered yellow eye and row of fangs before the face faded again as it turned to get closer again.

Ila watched the best move along the cars, each step shaking the steel to it's core and when it finally moved closer to the edge, the windows cracked and gave way as the frame bend in under it's claws. Then it came, in a massive leap the beast lunged at Kanda and all Ila could see was a blur as she turned to quickly get out of the way of the pounce.

Kanda raised his sword up to the beast right before it landed on him.

He wondered if Ila and Emily were okay.

The sword caught flesh, and with a pained howl it didn't go in for the kill immediately but the beast pinned Kanda under a paw and within those whirling vapors Kanda would be able to see the creature only a little clearer. There was a physical body within the vapors, and although it's arms were large it's body was actually relatively small as were it's hind legs, whereas it's head was large to match it's arms. The only discernible thing Kanda would do well to notice was a place just under the creatures jaw. A spot that glowed even within the red mists a bright yellow like the beasts eyes. Weak points in the beasts thick hide.

Trying to avoid the sword, the beast snapped at Kanda's head trying to bite it off.

Ila and Emily went tumbling to the ground out of the way, stepping back as Kanda all but completely vanished in the cloud of red and Ila fought her instinct to rush in but couldn't help but to call for him in hopes that he was still alive. "KANDA!"

Kanda gasped, having a hard time being able to breathe. He avoided the chomp from the beast, slashing the sword at the beast with a grimace. It was crushing his chest, making it hard to breathe....but it was also blocking the rain. He yelled out a warcry, his whole body bursting into flame.

He looked up at the beast with a smirk before putting a hand on the claw holding him down. "Heel, boy."

The beast had the upper hand, it was going to get another meal, but then the unexpected happened and before it knew what was happening an cloak of fire surrounded Kanda and the beast growled and roared in the mans face but the flames still wouldn't flinch. It's snaps couldn't get close, and it's paw was burning from the intense heat he was giving off, but the moment the beast tried to withdraw, Kanda grabbed hold of it's paw and there was a long moment where the beasts burning yellow eyes stared back into Kanda's heart of flame.

Then.. it lost all of it's ferocity and did was it was told.

Ila watched the beast take a seat, and her jaw dropped.

Kanda stood with a groan, feeling every bit of pressure the beast had put on him. "Wow, it actually obeyed me..." he muttered in shock.

As it sat back the vapors turned a more docile blue and the flow was a lot more tranquil, less of an overwelming cloud.

Ila narrowed her eyes, but didn't dare get any closer. "..well..Ok. But .. Like... Can you.. make it go away.. or.. something?" She said, shooing it away with her hands, the beast growled at her, bearing it's fangs and turning red once more then she froze and the beast returned it's attention to Kanda once more and went back to it's docile state, as if waiting for something.

"..It.. what did you do to it?" Ila questioned, keeping Emily close.

Kanda looked at it with wide eyes. "I do not know..." He pondered the beast for a moment before pointing at the other dog-like creatures. "I wonder if I can control the others too...ahhhh, nevermind...sick 'em boy!" He shouted, motioning towards the others.

When he pointed, the hound jumped on all fours and with a shake it's body was burning red and a snarl it was off to do as it was commanded, bounding over the guard rail , crushing a magicmobile as it used it as a jump off to land on the back of one of it's brethren, clawing and biting at it's neck before bringing one down. People cleared the way as the brutal tussle went underway and with no small amount of collateral damage.

Ila was on her feet quickly, and as she ran over to Kanda she fretted over him like he'd incurred a great deal of damage. "You always seem to surprise me Big Guy."

Emily watched the shadowbeast carefully, "Doggy!" she beamed. "Papa has a doggy!"

Ila rolled her eyes at the simplicity of a childs mind, then pat her on the head. "I need to get her back to the guild.. you gonna be alright out here, big guy?"

Kanda looked at Ila. "This is a distraction...don't leave." He reached an arm out, hand on his chest. "That hurt..." he groaned at the pain, trying to breathe.

Ila stopped in her tracks and gave a slight scowl. "honestly.. such a baby.." she teased though her jest was transparent. She worried.. .horribly so. Seeing the beast walking on the train was already terrifying.. and that power was just on Kanda's chest.. by all rights the guy shoudl have died, but it seemed Kanda was a lot harder to kill that their enemies seemed to think.

She knelt down beside him taking the extended arm over her shoulders to help hold him up. "Don't worry, We're not going anywhere." She said with a reassuring smile in reference to herself and Emily, then nodded toward a nearby alley. "We'll hide over there and ---"

Just then another one of the shadow beasts dropped from the sky to block the alley, letting out a roar.

"---And.. And you've got to be kidding me!" Ila called out, "Come on guys I know you're out there someplace but we coud really use some help right now!"

Kanda pushed Ila away, standing and bursting into flames. He pointed at the other beast that had appeared with his flame sword. "YOU STAY!" He shouted, hoping that it was enough.

Ila almost stumbled, but picked up her feet to get the hell out of the way as Kanda turned cloaked himself in fire once more and drew his sword. She half expected it to work a second time, but this time it didn't seem to have the same effect.

The beast snarled angrily at the flames but did not stand down like the other, what's more it only seemed to get more upset by the display and swelled with rage before giving a vicious roar and rushing like a bull toward Kanda, claws first and aimed to snatch him up much like the guard had been at the station.

"Look out!" ila called.

"Huh..." Kanda said with a frown, dodging the beast. "How the hell did I do that last time?" He sliced at the beast with his sword, willy-nilly.

The flame backed the beast off, but it only grew more upset with the excess movement and the brightness of the fire agitated it further.

"Aim for it's neck! Under it's neck there should be---" Ila called to Kanda, trying to help in whatever way she could, but the beast had gotten tired of her, and turned it's eyes on her and Emily once more. Ila's face paled and she took a step back. " ---Shit!"

The beast gave a fierce growl, and bound right pass Kanda as Ila turned to Run.

Kanda growled and leaped forward, slicing at the beasts hindquarters. "Hey ugly! Overe here!"

The blade burned the beasts backside and it gave an ugly shriek before turning back to Kanda once more, giving a roar that showed off the yellow-orange glow in it's mouth and eyes before it lunged at Kanda again, aiming to take off his head with it's right claw.
