This is a BUG REPORT THREAD!

We just updated the forums to 1.5.13

If something weird is happening, or giving you errors, report it in this thread.

PLEASE -ONLY- REPORT IT IN THIS THREAD AND IN THE HELP DESK. DO NOT SEND A CONVERSATION, EMAIL, HIT UP PEOPLE IN CHAT OR ON DISCORD UNLESS YOU CANNOT POST ON THE FORUMS.
You might end up messaging the wrong person and getting BAD information. Everyone needs to be able to see what is reported and what has been fixed. Please make sure to report bugs in the right place or we might never get it fixed!

KNOWN ISSUES STILL TO BE ADDRESSED
  • Infinite loading time with the 'reply' button, the same thing for multi-quoting.
    • Text-editor has been reverted to the basic text-editor until a solution is found.
  • Bbcodes not working in the signatures.
  • Several Google fonts, as well as regular fonts not working and defaulting into Times New Roman.
  • Private Messages privacy settings are reversed. Members who are hiding their 'read date' are being shown and these who aren't hiding are being 'hidden'.
  • Image urls automatically pop up the image, instead of pasting the url.
  • Words breaking up into a new line with urls.
  • Rich Text Editor generates the wrong code when trying to insert a tab code.
  • 405 error when trying to post where members have to confirm their humanity.
  • The 'justify' text-align code is not working. Same goes for the background code.
  • Editor is showing problems with large posts.
  • Table codes breaking

I let the generator generate the 'tabs' for me, that's how it generates it
[tabs]
{slide=center}{/slide}
[/tabs]

It doesn't give anything but "slide" "/slide"

So - maybe still a bug just not one that is obvious? I don't know. Pretty new. The other two function flawlessly I think?

So... I'm getting an odd error - gotten it twice now in the last hour... Where basically Iwaku times out (405 error) and then when I refresh I get a message about 'strange activity on my IP address' and I'm asked to confirm I'm not a robot?????

This is very frustrating, as it keeps happening when I'm trying to post ;_;

  • Nice Execution!

Words breaking up into a new line with urls.

Oh, this was confirmed as a bug? I was told it was normal for linked text to behave that way. I mean, I still keep looking at the line breaks (especially in places like my alerts) and thinking, "there's no way it's always been like that...", but, the replies in that thread made me think that I just somehow never noticed... owo""

No idea! However, plenty of people have been talking about it and complaining. I'm also selfish enough to deem it as a bug because it bugs me. Haha, get it? bug, bugs? //shot

@Nemopedia

Words breaking up into a new line with urls.

That's actually not a bug, it's normal behaviour for URLs :)

Kitti is showing up as a new member for me. I'm going to upload an image to demonstrate what I mean properly later, but her title thing says "new member", and she has the default avatar. I don't know if anyone else sees this or if it counts as a bug, but that's the issue. The issue persists in multiple threads Kitti has posted in, and when I view her profile.

HERZI TROLLED ME, THERE IS NO BUG! D:<

Justify is currently not working for me??? ;_;

As in [justify][/justify] ?

Background color code's been all broken ever since the reversion to the simple editor.

Also trying to edit and save large posts is acting weird. It'll save but the editor won't close and immediately reflect the changes. You have to exit the editor and refresh the page.

And finally, the bbcode button that allows you to see all the code and stuff won't work for large posts. It'll just infinitely load but it won't ever transition from the rich text editor.

It had to happen eventually. After its third major rework, I had thought the Colour Guide to be finished—surely there was nothing left to improve?

But alas, the coding crashed, the backgrounds changed, and my ambitions soared.

Here at Iwaku, we have five primary styles: Midnight, Dusk, Evening, Daylight, and Sunrise. Each style has its own background colour, and are split between two standard text colours: white for the first two, black for the other three. When individuals choose to stray from the standard text, however, challenges arise. Tedious as it may be, for the good of the community, one must ensure any colour used provides sufficient contrast to be read painlessly on each of the styles.

Tedious once, perhaps, but no more.

    Though ideally it would be nice if all preset colours in the rich text editor were friendly to all backgrounds, that is not the case. Avoid using any colours x'd out in the aggregate table.

    For reference, the background colours are as follows:
    • Midnight: #000000
    • Dusk: #313131
    • Sunrise: #f6f6f6
    • Evening: #c2c2c2
    • Daylight: #e5e3e3
  • Foreword: [spoili] For those who remember the old hexcode table, there have been some significant changes in format. Due to the decision to expand the array of analysed colours from the 216 websafe colours to all 4096 three-digit colours, revealing precisely which backgrounds each colour did not provide sufficient contrast for quickly became unsustainable.

    In fact, the data was so large that it exceeded Iwaku's maximum post size, even ignoring failures. (trust me, I tried.)

    As such, you'll just have to trust me. Below are all 1450 that passed my tests, sorted by hue.[/spoili]

Disclaimer: [spoili] There is an international governing body for accessibility on the internet, that provides guidelines on the amount of contrast both in hue and brightness needed for text to be approved. I created a spreadsheet that ran each of their tests, and not one of the colours passed on all five backgrounds.

I expected this, and as such went through the trouble of individually evaluating each colour (with @HerziQuerzi's help) against all backgrounds. I used two screens, and I tried to be strict, but not everyone's eyesight is as perfect as mine. This guide will not help if you are roleplaying with anyone who is colour-blind—or just plain blind, for that matter.

Still, it should work well enough for the majority of users.[/spoili]

I hope this proves useful.

Please stop killing my eyes.

IDK what's up with the code here but it's clearly broken ;_; This isn't even my post but I'm posting this here anyway because screw it I use the color guide too much not to say something about it when it breaks a little bit.

uh oh

I'm currently in the middle of a move, so I won't be able to look into workarounds until probably the weekend. (And who knows how long it'll take to recode.)

For now, this backup should be handy.

Borken Table.png

tables everywhere are being borked! -flails-

Easy way to fix your codes for the tables is take and copy it into either word or notepad++ open up the ctrl+F function, hit "Find and replace"

Replace all the { with [ and replace all the } with ]

Just a work around for those who don't want to go through 2342304982340923423 E ^ +0 lines of code...

This is true, cause my tables have [ ] instead of { } and they're working o__o

I shall try this.

I shall try this.
I hope it works for you. It worked for me and I had like... 300 tables in my code lol

Seems like sometimes when you put it in the text auto-corrects into { from [ or } from ] - not just with tables, by the way. It does it with /stabs also.
