Could either just wander around, or talk to someone already accepted and see if you can post in their vicinity. Like, I jumped in on the end of Haruka's training session, and kicked it off from there.

Usually best to post your character graduating from the academy then approaching the lieutenant or captain of the squad you wish to join (likely best to pm them first to see if they are available)

Yu is, but he's currently watching his Squad member fight a black thing with a mask named Tobie or something.
