Zodiac Anomalies

  1. Every human has a little bit of stardust.

The Zodiac constellation that governs the sky on one's day of birth decides one's element. Humans develop an affinity to their element and are able to affect and control it marginally upon adulthood. These abilities built and destroyed civilizations and societies as history passed. It was nature and it was known.

However, the age of technology dawned on the human race with even greater challenges. Plagues and famines swept out populations by the thousands. Cures that are found don't always work on all elements. New studies prove that there is a real difference in the capabilities of the Signs and their elements. The unbalance is causing tensions within nations and governments are trying to find solutions before civil wars tear countries apart.

You only knew this through the textbooks. Your whole life was spent in a facility and you were named after the Sign you were born in. Experiments done to you were not always humane, but it had changed your affinity to your element in drastic ways.

You are an Anomaly and this is your tale.

There were only ever a handful of you, in your memory. Twelve, to be exact. But one by one, some of your brethren died of cardiac arrest. One, while you were in class. Another while you were eating. One didn't come back from an operation. And so on. You don't completely understand how these things happened and you have a feeling any of you may be next. But Aquarius had an idea.

Aquarius was left the eldest after the others' deaths. While the experiments completely removed his control of Air, he was brilliant and a little crazy, a headache to the researchers that manned the facility. He's organized pranks and games with his creative little schemes. He knows your talents and encouraged you to do even better. If you had a device, he'd let you test it on him. If you had a concoction, he'll volunteer to taste it. So when he said it was time to escape, you believed in him and put your faith in him even if his plan seemed half-baked.

Just when your group has outsmarted the researchers with nothing but your talents and abilities, Aquarius collapses right at the gate.

In the three years that followed your escape and the loss of the big brother you had looked up to, you and the remaining Anomalies banded together with the goal of destroying the research that robbed you of your humanity. You'd act upon Aquarius' plan to take down the Bureau of Advanced Research. It's time for revenge.

    T H E S E T T I N G
You live in an underground bunker made out of an abandoned club's basement. The front door is barred and the entrance is through a dumpster at the back of what's left of the building before the fire you never witnessed destroyed it. The empty dumpster keeps hidden a hole in the wall which you and your fellow Anomalies crawl through. Inside was a makeshift base, the center of all your activity. Your group had turned to a life of crime to gather the funds and resources you need for the big plan. After all this time, Aquarius still guides you.

This is where your story starts.

Welcome, to a role play created by Boss Megu and Mippu.
Before we create your characters, let's have a few ground rules, more of a guide than anything else.

    1. All Iwaku rules and guidelines exist, and are followed in this RP.
    2. @Mippu is my fellow GM. Her word is LAW, just as well as mine. :3
    3. No god-modding. As co-GMs, @Mippu and I are the exception, but only if your character is inactive, or with you give us explicit permission to move them, carry them or shove them down the stairs.
    4. ONLY ONE character per person. There are 12 zodiacs, 4 are dead, effectively. Let everyone have one please.
    5. This is an Adept-leveled RP. Let us write at least 1 paragraph length post. Typo's are fine, everyone does it.

    6. ALERT Boss Megu or MIPPU when you are quitting, going on hiatus, away for a bit, or are unable to post for a few days because of so and so. We would appreciate it. That way we won't wait for you.
    7. Questions are welcome and we will gladly attempt to answer them. If you feel shy, PM us.
    8. Let's be POLITE and PLAY NICE. Arguments are to be taken via PM. Let's not disrupt those who have no part.
    9. If you've read the RULES, please add anywhere in your sheet "Anomaly". ;)

    10. Because I am OC, I will have ten rules. PLEASE HAVE FUN.

    SIGN: (Choose one.)
AGE: (18 - 25 only, we'll stretch to 17 if you convince us.)
APPEARANCE: (A description or a realistic picture would be fine. Preferably with picture, please, please, please add a picture)
PERSONALITY: (What makes you, you? Tell us more about yourself.)
ELEMENT/ANOMALY: (What is your sign's element? What changed about it? No one is allowed to have the Aquarius Syndrome of losing their elements. Only he lost it.)

SPECIALTY: (What can you do? What is it you're really good at?)
RELATION TO AQUARIUS: (How did Aquarius affect you? What did Aquarius help you with? What role did he play in your life?)
RELATIONS: (this can be to be added until the others wrote theirs in, but what is your relationship with the rest?)

Together for as long as they could remember, the Anomalies have formed strong bonds with each other. They've had little squabbles and even some fights but they all understand each other well. The very sudden successive deaths of the six Anomalies hit them hard, especially Aquarius', who was with them the longest. They are practically co-dependent, although the researchers saw to it that they wouldn't learn to use their abilities together.
Elemental abilities awaken at puberty. The moment they were able to establish a connection with their element, they had rigorous element training with those of the same elements. Their capabilities are closely monitored and recorded and later, tested.

Aside from surgery, they are given physically strenuous tasks that challenge the limits of their connection with the elements. Water elements are trained at the pool, Earth elements at the garden and Fire and Air elements at the gym on different schedules. Sometimes, minimally-invasive surgeries follow their element therapy sessions.

Through the experiments and tests, their abilities gradually changed. For Sagittarius, he could not be hurt by fire and high temperatures. Capricorn could soften, harden and even smooth soil at will. Taurus could turn soil and rock into crystals. Gemini controlled air pressure. Aquarius completely lost his ability and Pisces was able to cause evaporation by large quantities.

Some of the tests, they absolutely don't understand. All they know and remember is the pain.
The Bureau of Advanced Research had the Anomalies in a large facility on a plateau, powered by surrounding solar panels and the wind farm not too far away. Its receiving area was the only level visible and the rest of the building was underground. The building, called Aristarchus lab, is part of the network of other facilities all run by the bureau.

As far as the Anomalies are aware, they were born in the facility. There were human nurses aided by droids that helped raise them. At three, they had speech and motor skill therapy sessions and began to learn to read and comprehend. At six, they began studies that were not so much different from being home-schooled. They had their meals together, with their diets closely regulated. Their Saturdays and Sundays were reserved for various experiments and examinations, physical exercise and psychological therapy.

It was a comfortable environment with automated functions and floor-length windows, a consolation for their torturous experiences. There was an infirmary, a garden, a pool and a gym.

Surveillance was active all the time and Security-bots patrolled all parts of all buildings.
Using the remaining Anomalies' skills and abilities, Aquarius organized their escape that got them as far as the solar panels outside. Using his old plans with the elder six as his basis, Aquarius started planning from the end point: to terrorize and bring down the Bureau of Advanced Research. He wrote down everything in a notebook and slowly gave instructions to his friends to get everything prepared. When he was certain that they were ready, he gave them the signal.

The Anomalies were a little worried since Aquarius had an asthma attack not long before the planned escape date but he really pushed for it. He didn't want to miss their chance. With enough researchers unable to work because of a mysterious poison gas leak from the garden, they managed to isolate the Aristarchus lab's security and break out. With their combined abilities at maximum capacity, they were virtually unstoppable. Until, that is, Aquarius collapsed.

The memory is burned in their minds.
Life in their secret hideout was pretty quaint. They had a pretty rough start with no legal identity, no money and absolutely no experience. Aquarius' notebook became their ultimate survival guide and they finally understood why he spent so much time writing in it and having them gather all sorts of tools and information. They learned to use their skills and their talents while hiding from society and soon, they were able to assemble a makeshift home.

They have a kitchen of sorts to one side. Or rather a stove, a percolator, a chopping board, a cooking spoon and a spatula. It was right by the laboratory tools they had collected: beakers, test tube rack and a few chemicals. In another corner were two stolen laptops and a desktop computer. They had a shelf of books and power tools, a box of other hardware. They slept wherever they could. They managed to keep the local water and electric power supply office from noticing that their connection is still active.

  5. relations to Aquarius here

Scorpio since escaping has let her hair grow long. She's about 5'7" and has a lean form that hides her slightly defined muscles, though she's not much good in hand to hand combat. She's often seen in wearing scarves (often red, mostly blue), something that Aquarius mentioned he wanted to try. This scarf, hides a scar from the inhumane torture that she went through as a Specimen.

She mostly wears jeans and a blouse that fits her figure, sometimes with a jacket or a coat alongside her combat boots, but only because it's practical. She actually likes to look pretty, but when one is on a mission, she enjoys looking different. She does wear light make up and will often dress up when the situation calls for it. She is fashionable, despite hiding from the government.

Scorpio is vain in the "I know I look pretty but I'm not going to rub it in your face" kind of vain. She just knows she's attractive and can look good without trying. She's often seen approachable and amicable, and Scorpio, inwardly, is warm and caring, especially since she is one of the eldest. She took it on herself to mother those younger than her, a role she takes very seriously.

While she can be warm and caring, Scorpio has little to no care of those outside her group, being one of the more ruthless ones in her group, especially to those who did them wrong. But cannot find it in her to hurt children.

She's a force to be reckoned with, especially since she's good at pretending or playing a role. While she isn't stubborn, Scorpio can become quite an unmovable rock when it comes to Aquarius' plans. She will not deviate from it, even under the possibility of killing unnecessarily and have their cover blown. Or getting killed herself.

Someone needs to be slap her on the head when this happens, now that Aquarius isn't here.

Water >> Turning *water into ICE
Though she is able to control water, but within the first few seconds of her control, it turns cool then cold in less than a minute, her primary control over water still isn't as strong.
She is weakest during Spring, and strongest during Autumn.

Acting/Pretending = espionage; gathering information by playing a role
Sometimes, being the face of the group

Scorpio has been always relatively been close to Aquarius, but then again, all of them were. In the beginning, her attachment was to Sagittarius, the eldest of their group. But upon his death while they were in class, it traumatized her tremendously. It was Aquarius who kept her from attacking the orderlies who attempted to help their eldest.

From there, Scorpio's attachment moved to Aquarius. He became the big brother who she looked up to. The big brother who shielded her from all the bad things in the world. As they grew up, that fact never really faded. When her mastery of the Water Element changed, it was Aquarius she approached first in tears. She knew that there was a possibility. To become a strange anomaly, Aquarius was her solace in the labs.

She did wonder why her attachment became different. Becoming more possessive and obsessed with keeping his attention on her, feeling the weird butterflies when he smiled at something she did well.

Aquarius was the one who encourage her to play strange pranks on the scientists. Changing her personality with different scientists, being an airhead with one, being rabid with another, being docile and etc. It was good fun, that led to her mastery of pretending and acting. But all in all, Aquarius was her voice of reason, her moral compass at times, and her unbending pillar.

    >Scorpio despite how soft and motherly she looks, can be the most cruel and heartless among them, willing to sacrifice civilians, if needed.
    >She fears swimming due to the experiments. Can get panic attacks if she's forced to be submerged in water, but she's actually one of their better swimmers.
    >Hates tomato. But not tomato sauce. ^^;

  7. SIGN: Leo

    AGE: 25

:downcat: Leo has medium length black hair that consistently spikes up here and there despite his best efforts at taming it. His eyes are a sharp, deep blue that spark with vitality when he's feeling good. He's average height, around 5'10", with a moderately athletic build. He always wears his black leather jacket and dark jeans, partnered with either black sneakers or black combat boots. He prefers blue and dark red shirts, nothing too fancy.

:hammock: Leo is, generally, a laid-back individual. He doesn't really do much unless it's necessary or piques his interests. He needs his space, and hates it when people touch him. He is known to get a bit fidgety at times, unable to sit still once his nerves get going. He tends to bury himself in projects, multitasking with everything, once he gets into these states since it allows him to channel the anxious energy into something productive.
:gloomy: He tends to keep people at a distance, even more so since Aquarius... Well, y'know what happened. He keeps his friends incredibly close, and losing the one he considered his best friend really did a number on him. He keeps all of his emotions on lock down. Once he decides to open up with you, he'll talk about what's going through his mind, how he sees the world, and he'll go out of his way to make your day.
:punch: He is practically fearless when it comes to protecting those he cares about. Nothing will stop him except for maybe death. He has an intimate knowledge of body language, and nothing goes unnoticed beneath his sharp blue gaze. This is always used to his advantage. He tends to be an asshole to those who have done him wrong, often taunting them to the point of lashing out at him. His intelligence can be a major problem for his adversaries as well, since he enjoys making fun of simple minded tactics.

:devilfire: Pyrokinesis- the ability to manipulate and speed up the atomic state to the point of combustion.
:fan: Thermokinesis- the ability to manipulate and generate large amounts of heat.

:fiery: Leo's body temperature has been known to spike when he uses his abilities, often peaking at around 1,000°F. It should be noted now that high temperatures have no effect on him, as his body rapidly absorbs excessive heat as a fuel of sorts for his fire. He doesn't burn. His clothes, somehow, don't get instantaneously combusted when this happens. He used to be able to use his fire as a projectile, but now he's only been able to cloak himself in flames. He would often spike his body temperature during tests at the facility, causing needles to melt before piercing his skin.

:paperbag2: Thievery- Leo knows how to get what's needed. He treads lightly and is great at sneaking around, and was always the one who managed to sneak out of the dorms and steal snacks from unsuspecting personnel at the facility.

:library: Aquarius was his person, his go-to guy, and probably one of the best assholes that he'd ever had the pleasure of butting heads with. They normally didn't see eye to eye, but they had a mutual respect for eachother. He was the refreshing, good kind of crazy that got Leo to open up a bit. He often gave Leo seemingly impossible requests when it came to stealing things, but Leo always delivered. It wasn't until the escape that Leo realized that those offhanded requests were simply a gathering of items needed to build some tools necessary to his plan. Seeing the one guy who could think two steps ahead of him go down during the escape, it broke something inside the young man. His laid-back attitude changed into a more anxious one, and he found that he couldn't sit still for very long. He lost his rock when he lost Aquarius.

Scorpio - That's a piece of work. She's decent as a person, but the way she can flip around from kind and caring to a cold blooded killer is very... Unsettling. Leo is generally alright with her, but also the slightest bit skittish as well.

Virgo - Her attention to detail is impeccable, but it just feels like she's a shell. While he enjoys the work she can do, her personality just doesn't leave a lasting impact on him in terms of positive or negative. They simply glide past eachother without any difficulties.

Libra - Eh, the only rational guy in the group is alright. No complaints there. But, still, opening up to him is out of the question. It's mostly due to Leo's guarded nature, but he knows that there's just something a bit off with him.

Cancer - That emotional train-wreck is simply too much for him to handle. There's just too much going on there, and it's aggravating how she can seamlessly switch emotions. For someone who takes pride in reading people, she is the bane of his existence. It's obvious that he tries to avoid being around her out of fear that she'll snap on him or something.

Aries - She's alright. Perhaps even a friend, if Leo thinks about it for a while. Her need to do things generally clashes with his laziness, but sometimes she's up to something that actually piques his interests. Moderate doses of her energy are actually kind of fun. But he'd never admit it.

    Anemone. Anomone. Anomaly. Same difference.

  8. SIGN: Virgo
    AGE: 19

PERSONALITY: Virgo loves to be of help to others. She is methodical and exacting in everything she does, a perfectionist's perfectionist. Though she is deeply caring, Virgo often seems cool and remote because she doesn't know how to express herself spontaneously. When she tries, it comes off as scripted, because it is (even though she means it). But if she can solve someone's insoluble problem, or give them the exact, perfect gift, the very thing they've always wanted, she will. Virgo loves mathematics, Sacred Geometry, and occult symbolism. She loves beauty and elegance, and finds their opposites to be a fingernails-on-chalkboard irritant. More here.

ELEMENT/ANOMALY: Earth. Anomaly: Provided with a starting "seed" of the desired material and direct contact with the ground or a supply of the necessary chemical elements (e.g. dirt, gravel), Virgo can cause crystal, glass, or homogeneous stone (i.e. limestone or basalt, but not aggregate) to grow into a desired shape and size (larger size requires more time, naturally). Metals require much more time and effort to work with than other "Earth" materials, increasing with the hardness of the metal. She can also change the shape of a pre-existing object of said materials or "decompile" it into dirt or sand composed of the same elements. Virgo also has an affinity for structure. She can tell if a crystal has a flaw, a stone a hidden crack, or if a building is architecturally unstable on sight.

SPECIALTY: Planning/design. Her plans are elegantly structured, created with meticulous care and attention to detail, achieving an exquisite balance between redundancy and parsimonious efficiency.

RELATION TO AQUARIUS: Aquarius was Virgo's first love, though she kept that inside and as far as she knows, he never knew. Like the others, she was a younger sibling as far as he was concerned. He taught her how to play chess and Go when she was a little girl, and helped her hone her mastery. He solicited her help in planning his pranks, not so much because he needed it, but because he wanted to help her develop her skill in making and executing plans. Pulling pranks was contrary to her nature...but, anything for Aquarius. Shortly before his death, he started giving her new challenges: "How would you get past a multiple-biometric lock that is not keyed to you?" "How would you get a dozen people from the dorm room to Section 35-A without being seen by the security cameras?" "If you had to get past a 100-foot electrified fence with concertina wire on top, and auto-actuated machine guns with motion sensors and cameras mounted on its posts, how would you do it?" And so on. It was only after his death that the whole structure of his intention snapped together for Virgo: a plan for her and the other Anomalies to escape the Facility.

In the wake of Aquarius' death, Virgo doesn't know if she will ever be able to love again.

  9. L I B R A 〉〉 T H E S C A L E S

    s i g n : Libra.

    a g e : 19.

a p p e a r a n c e : Libra stands at 5'5" and weighs about 134 lbs. His complexion pale, but with the constant dusting of rose on his cheeks and shoulders, as well as dimples on both his cheeks, and the bottom of his spine, venus dimples. [Ironically, considering Venus is the ruler of his sign.] His eyes are a shade of sky blue, and his hair is raven black, cut short and side swept, cut shorter at the bottom like an undercut. His body is lithe but not too skinny, slim would be the best description.

p e r s o n a l i t y : Cooperative | Diplomatic | Gracious | Fair | Social | Intelligent | Witty → Libra is stereotypically, well, a Libra. He is generally very mellow and fair-minded, not a lot upsets Libra, and he's extremely hard to anger and frustrate. As an air sign, he is keen to intellectual habits, and tends to see things from a factual side rather than an emotional one. He's a very caring person, and tends to put others before himself, and is quick to make friends as he's a very social person. However, he's one to hold a grudge, and can be very, very indecisive. He hates conflict and avoids it at all costs, and his need for making everyone happy can sometimes make him appear passive, and at first glance, maybe he is. Despite this outer appearance, Libra is not weak, and will stand up for himself need be. He can be witty and even sassy at times, and tends to get out of situations with his words alone. He will always try to stand up for what is right. Libra horoscope.

e l e m e n t & a n o m a l y : Libra is an air sign, and is capable of aerokinesis (manipulation of air, wind, and gas), as well as air mimicry (the ability of creating fog, gas, or mist).
Aerokinesis → He can change wind currents, such as creating sudden breezes, gusts of air, or blasts. As of right now, this ability is not strong enough to do anything but knock someone or something over (depending on the weight), but he has been able to hover for a few minutes with air currents before falling straight on his ass. He can change the gases/particles in the air, example; turning toxic air into breathable air, or clearing the air of particles like sand or glass.
Air Mimicry → Decently self explanatory, he can create fogs and mists. (when he's bored, he's found himself putting fog on the windows so he can draw on them). He's unable to make mist unless there's water present already, but using air manipulation, it's possible. As for gases, Libra has yet to create/manipulate poisonous gases, and is unsure with whether he can do so, or if he even wants to.

s p e c i a l t y : Libra is a people person. He has a knack for keeping everyone pleased, solving arguments and conflicts, and being pleasantly diplomatic. He often sees the middle ground when others fail to do so, and has an entire desire to be completely and utterly fair.

r e l a t i o n → a q u a r i u s : It was safe to say Aquarius was like the family Libra was never given. A big brother, father figure even. Libra looked up to Aquarius with stars in his eyes, and would've blindly followed the man. He wanted to be just like him, he wanted to be liked and loved like him, be smart and creative like him. Aquarius always encouraged him to do his best, he reminded Libra that it was okay to fail, that it only gave you more chances for success. He taught Libra how to be brave and comforted him when the experiments became too much for the young boy to handle. When he died, Libra was entirely distraught over his death, it was like losing a father. Being one of only two air signs is a harsh reminder that he's gone, even if Aquarius had lost his abilities to begin with.

    r e l a t i o n s : [[added later]]

    o t h e r s :
    - Libra is bisexual.
    - Despite being idealistic, Libra often finds himself day-dreaming. It's not rare to see him zoned out.
    - Theme : Carmen - Lana Del Rey.

    - Anomaly.

  10. Anomaly. Something that deviates from what is standard, normal, or expected.

Tenacious | highly Imaginative | Loyal | Emotional | Sympathetic
    Moody | Pessimistic | Insecure | Suspicious | Manipulative

Tenacious. She doesn't let go of things easily. She's the kind of person who never gives up and never stops trying (unless her pessimistic and insecure side shows up) – someone who does whatever is required to accomplish a goal. She may also be very stubborn but only because she's driven by desire and success.

Highly imaginative. She isn't afraid to take risks and do experiments thanks yo her imagination. Her mind allows her to think outside of the box, and sometimes it helps her to find solutions to her problems. She often thinks about anything unconventional.

Loyal and Emotional. She is the kind of girl who's deeply sensitive and easily hurt, thus the reason why she have her defenses up to avoid being hurt by others. Nonetheless, she's tenaciously loyal to those whom she trusts. She values friendships and trusts very deeply. She's also sentimental.

Sympathetic. She can be sympathetic but only to those she trusts.

Persuasive. As said before, she's the kind of person who never gives up and never stops trying. She's also manipulative so she can outlast just about any adversary. When she decides to fight for something, everyone can rest assured that she will go the distance and do everything she can to prove her point.

Moody. She is an emotional rollercoaster. One minute she’s perfectly content doing whatever, the next minute she’s in a shitty mood and passively-aggressively taking it out on someone or something. She can turn into a sappy, dreamy, moody mess on a regular basis. She's probably a bipolar.

Pessimistic and Insecure. Thanks to her being higly imaginitive, she always thinks of the worst and became deathly afraid of being rejected. If she feelsthat there's even the slightest chance that her highly imaginative bad scenarioswill happen, she'll immediately pull back.

Suspicious. It is difficult for her to open up and have a close emotionally fulfilled relationship with someone because she is so closed off emotionally and physically to the world. This is driven by her fear of trust and she has a difficult time trusting people. She always thinks that people have ulterior motives all the time and that they do kind things for something in exchange.

Manipulative. She has a reputation for being extremely manipulative. Often she’ll use subtle tactics, hints, and guilt trips to get her way in a quiet and diplomatic way without the other person realizing what’s going on at the time.

Cancer is a water sign and she's capable of toxikinesis or Poison Manipulation. She create, shape and manipulate poisons.

Persuasion and Manipulation. Thanks to her nature and gorgeous looks, she's able to easily manipulate and mesmerize people, especially men.

Aquarius and Cancer have a complicated relationship. They are like cats and dogs. Their friendship was stressful yet at the same time, worthwhile. They were friends and even if cancer hates him, she secretly likes him and treats him like an annoying brother.

(this can be to be added until the others wrote theirs in, but what is your relationship with the rest?)

Cancer gets annoyed when men flirts with her because of her looks
She hates squid. End of discussion.

    SIGN: Aries
    AGE: 22
Aries stands at 5'9" and weighs around 160 lbs depending on how fast her metabolism is on any given day. She has thick and angular black eyebrows, deep brown eyes and shoulder length, wavy black hair. Her hair is naturally curly, but Aries often straightens it with her anomaly because she likes it that way. Aries leans towards shiny and shimmery clothing and hates to wear bland colored clothing. She loves jewelry, especially rings and has a collection of them. Aries wears a lot of black with highlights of other colors. Crop tops, and bustiers are her top of choice. With skinny jeans and leggings being her bottoms of choice. She wears army boots, not for the fashion but because they're practical.
Aries has a go-getter personality and approaches life with never ending optimism. She loves a challenge and hates to sit idle or do repetitive things. She has a slight twinge of ADHD that pops up whenever she's been still for longer than an hour, and she can get kind of annoying when she tries to find something new to do. Unlike her element, Aries isn't the warm and cuddly type. She's friendly, but she's pretty independent when it comes to exploring or making headway. For the sake of her family though she holds herself back and tries for the whole 'sister' role. She gets embarrassed easily when affectionate moments and tears are revealed, so she tends to make inappropriate jokes and comments to ease the tension she feels.

When Aries first started her 'training' and developing her anomaly, she was extremely aggressive. She didn't care about what she hit with her flames and constantly had to be subdued via tranquilizer by the scientists. During one training she hit Saggitarius but due to his invulnerability to fire, he wasn't harmed, Aries however was horrified at what could have happened and became a little calmer after that, although her anger would pop up sometimes.

Aries' element is fire and she has the ability to generating excessive heat from her hands. Her power is best used to melt various solids such as metal or stone. Different solids have different melting points, so some take a little longer to melt. Aries can also use her powers to warm up a friend, food or straighten hair, but she has to be careful so as to not burn herself or someone else.

It is assumed that Aries needs to consume over 2500 calories every four hours to maintain her heat generation powers. For fear of her losing her powers like Aquarius, the scientists never tested to see what would happen if she didn't consume her hourly calories.

During the initial tests, Aries had the ability to produce fire from her hands but lost it after a series of test were done to see how quickly she could produce fireballs in the span of 30 minutes. She collapsed after fifteen minutes and was placed in a medically induced coma. When she woke up two weeks later, her fire manipulation had mutated into heat generation.

Aries cannot use her powers underwater, and if in a cold climate it takes longer for her power to work.

Aries is a skilled negotiator, mainly because she is a great debater. Arguing is an art form to her and she knows how to turn it into a masterpiece. She knows just how to get a discounted item at a mom and pop store or a yard sale, but she also knows how to get someone to give her something she wants ("...like that ring your wearing. It's super cute, but not really your color. I'd say a bronze tone would go better with your eyes. Oh, what? It's a final sale? God damn capitalists, am I right? They don't deserve our patronage. How 'bout this I can take it off your hands and point you towards a great small business antique store that sells way better stuff. Plus you'd be supporting our own people and giving a big fuck you to those capitalists pigs! What do you say?)

RELATION TO AQUARIUS: (How did Aquarius affect you? What did Aquarius help you with? What role did he play in your life?)

Aquarius wasn't afraid of Aries even when she would lash out and surround herself in a circle of fire. He would talk with her for hours about what she thought was stupid shit, but it always made her feel better to just be able to talk about something without their being an underlying plan. It was Aquarius who awakened the philosopher in Aries and broadened her limited world view. When Aries fell into her coma, Aquarius would visit her and have one sided conversations with her. He would ask her questions even though she couldn't answer and he would play their favorite game with her. Aquarius and Aries had a game called 'theoretically', where they would give each other different scenarios (staring them off with "theoretically") and they would just talk about those scenarios until they both agreed on an appropriate conclusion.

Aries didn't know it then, but Aquarius did have an underlying plan when playing that game with her, and when she figured it out later, she wasn't upset. Aquarius helped her think quicker and roll with the punches. He helped her improvise and think of all the possibilities before choosing one.

  12. Addendum to Virgo:

Anomaly: Earth Sense: Virgo can sense vibrations (say, of a coming train), or the weight of people (and animals, cars, etc.) on the ground similar to Toph in Avatar: The Last Airbender. The heavier a person/animal/object is, the "louder" it is to this sense.

Relations: Virgo gets along best with Libra and Ares. The Arthropods (Scorpio and Cancer)...represent a greater challenge to her plans for the formation of successful relationships. Leo is in the middle between the two poles.

Libra: After Aquarius, Virgo is closest to Libra. He's her own age, and his rational, balanced approach to life dovetails nicely with her meticulous planning. His tendency toward indecisiveness gives her the opportunity to help by offering thoroughly-crafted advice.

Ares: Ares is a doer, and Virgo a planner, so they make a great team. Both are challenged when it comes to others' emotions, so they tend to provide each other with an oasis of sanity. Even their appearance and taste in clothes make them a pair of complimentary opposites. They're the Yin and Yang, the Boaz and Joachin of the group.

Leo: Virgo cares about Leo, but their shared tendency toward aloofness keeps them from becoming close. As long as Leo seems content that they "pass like ships in the night," Virgo can accept that, and plan accordingly.

Scorpio: Scorpio stirs a cognitive dissonance that's hard for Virgo to sort out. On the one hand, Scorpio's maternal caring makes her the mother Virgo never had. On the other hand, her expressed pride in her appearance makes Virgo feel peculiar-looking by comparison. Scorpio's capacity for cruelty to outsiders also gives Virgo pause.

Cancer: Cancer is the most difficult of the Anomalies for Virgo to relate to. Her unpredictable mood swings insure that any scheme Virgo comes up with to relate to her will fail in one way or another. Add in Cancer's manipulative streak, and Cancer becomes (from Virgo's perspective) the fly in the ointment, the joker in every deck, the wrecking ball for her most carefully-laid plans. Virgo doesn't hate Cancer, she just...can't deal with her very well, especially when she's being crabby.
