Silas covered his face with his hand and took a deep breath to calm ravaged nerves. He couldn't wrap his head around the fact that anyone so morbidly ignorant, so blissfully stupid, was allowed anywhere near such important work. How did the man ever earn a medical degree, much less anything outside of human anatomy? "And I'm the head of behavioral studies. I know what I'm doing. You don't." Any monkey could hold a knife and cut something open. "And I've got three more weeks, Shawn. You give me that, or so help me God, you'll be sorry." Silas hissed. He didn't have much in the way of threats, but he did know that he could go the board and file for data interference. It wouldn't be the first time the man had so blatantly disregarded the terms and conditions of someone else's studies.
He couldn't understand why someone hadn't blown the whistle yet. "It's not a theory, it's proof! Have you even read through my work? Have you so much as touched anyone's files lately? Have you not even walked by Joseph's office?" Tacked to the man's bulletin board, clearly visible through his window, was a picture 089 had drawn for him. A picture obviously meant to portray Joseph and 089. Vladislav, Joseph called him. While he didn't agree with how close the pair had gotten, Silas couldn't deny the fact 089 displayed the highest intelligence, the highest emotional resemblance of any human child in the facility. How could Shawn look at that and not see any intelligence? How could he not look at his own and see some tiny, tiny sliver of something, anything, resemblant to emotion? "I ought to have you reported for disrupting my research. When I blatantly told you again and again not to say anything regarding 090's termination! You give me my three weeks, Shawn."
