The pup was doing the best he could but the other wolf was much too fast.
All he was honestly doing was defending because the canine was only a blur to even him.
He managed to stay barely one step ahead of getting his throat bitten but he was sacrificing other parts to wounds.

A loud yelp sounded out right after the hunter called to his pup.
There was a bone-crunching sound and then the wolf had the other smaller body in his jaws, tossing it into the ground as it skidded several yards.
Raz was too slow to get up and the wolf closed in again, it's fangs snapping down on the boy's neck.
However, it didn't seem like a kill shot. In fact, it started to quickly drag off the stunned puppy into the tall grass.

The hunter growled at his inability to do anything as he heard Raz struggling against the strange wolf. Just as the pup was thrown, Eska tried to take the opportunity to fire on the larger one. He got a shot off, but it was gone by the time he'd let go his arrow, thus being the first time he'd missed a shot in over twenty years. His eyes went wide, quickly loading another arrow, aiming and firing. This time it hit a tree behind where the larger wolf had been standing, but now Raz and the strange wolf were gone towards the woods the second had come from.

He knew he couldn't waste more time, and quick as he could ran back into the stables, passing the nearly charcoal bat on his way. It took him less than a minute to saddle the new horse, mount and ride in the direction he'd seen the wolves going. Since this strange one was faster than even Raz, Eska could only hope to catch it off guard somewhere if it stopped. And he'd have to do it for a while, cause the man could only follow so fast the trail of dragging the pup's body.

Razgul was trying to fight the other even as it had him from the neck.
It wasn't a fatal injury int he least but he had a broken shoulder on his right side and was being dragged on it.
The boy was growling angrily and flapping his wings but nothing seemed to break the creature's grip.
He hoped it was just bringing him to stand against a territorial threat.
Though the boy had a feeling he was in deeper trouble then he wanted to think.
Hopefully Eska would find him quickly...if he was looking.

The man was looking, following the drag lines across the terrain. He was moving as fast as his horse could go over that kind of ground, which was only a little faster than he himself could actually run. But he didn't want to give up the horse just yet. Judging from the sounds he was hearing during that fight, Raz wouldn't be able to get back on his own easily, and they were going too deep into the forest for Eska to just carry the pup out and back to the town.

Whatever this thing was, it had been there for a reason, purposely burning that bat's body, and that was highly suspicious. But why drag the pup away. Was it because he fought the thing, or was there more to this whole situation and Eska just didn't have enough pieces to the puzzle yet? He really hoped it was cause Raz just pissed the other one off, cause more than that could be a real big problem.

The wolf moved about five more miles in, never seeming to tire even when Razgul finally lost the energy to fight.
As the larger canid stopped Raz remained motionless in the leaves were it was soon dropped.
Then the larger wolf seemed to kneel down and bow its head to something a few feet into the forest.
Perhaps it was its master or possibly pack?
Raz had no idea and honestly didn't care.
Right now he was just trying to pull himself back to consciousness enough to put up a fight or at least fly away.

It worried the hunter as the pattern he was following got just a little deeper, indicating the wolf being dragged was heavier in it's captive's embrace. That meant the pup either gave up, passed out or...no, he wouldn't think of the last option; Raz was alive he just knew it.

Suddenly he saw a couple figures up ahead, one of them definitely the elusive creature that had taken Raz, just coming out of the shadows was a human figure as well. It was cloaked and the face not visible. Whatever was going on, he didn't like it. Slowing his horse far enough, the hunter continued in on foot with as much stealth and agility as he'd ever learned over his years of hunting wild animals. As he got close enough, he could see Raz on the ground in front of the larger wolf. He drew his bow, waiting to see what was going on. It was easy to put together that the other wolf and now possibly this human coming forward were involved somehow with the bat, just how though is what was still on Eska's mind.

The darker wolf gave Razgul an abrupt shake to prove he was decently out and wouldn't struggle much before letting him go and backing away.
It looked like it was presenting the creature to its master.
Whether that was the plan or not it, that was for the other human to know.

Raz did try to get up but his shoulder was pretty messed up from being dragged over rocks and fallen limbs.
So, the pup remained quietly after a moment, waiting to see what this new human planned on doing.
Surely it wouldn't kill him because its wolf could have easily done that earlier.

Eska was maybe fifty yards away crouched behind a fallen trunk, peering over the top carefully. His heart was beating wildly in his chest having no clue what was going on, who this other person was, if Raz was even going to survive. After taking a deep breath, he kept his bow pointed at the ground and stood up, walking determined over to the trio nearby. Since the cloaked figure, he assumed, was human, there was a possibility of reasoning with them, getting information about what was going on. No need to fire from the get go like he would have if the larger wolf had been alone.

With a steady, confident voice, "I don't know who you are, or what you plan on doing, but that wolf has attacked and taken my pet. If the things is yours, tell it to back down or I will force it to back off." He was looking directly at this cloaked figure, the face covered in shadows still. It was unnerving, like something wasn't right. Even under the cover of the forest, the sun should have caught at least a sliver of the figure's features, right?

The large shadowy wolf turned slowly on Eska.
It didn't seem to feel threatened by the bow, possibly because it had easily dodged the arrows twice.
The animal did raise its hackles and bare fangs though. It wasn't about to let the human hunter near its master.

Razgul gave a quiet whine when he heard Eska's voice.
Who cares if he was called a pet, he just wanted to get back to the safety of the hunter.

The cloaked figures' wolf snorted and started approaching the downed canine again, though its eyes remained trained on Eska.

The hunter knew the black wolf was faster than his arrows, so shooting at it wasn't going to do much of anything but ruin his ability to be threatening. But he raised his bow, knocking the arrow back. His eyes were on the wolves, but the weapon was aimed at the cloaked figure's face. "Tell it to back off of my wolf, now. This is the only warning."

Gods he hoped it worked cause he'd not shot without looking at the target head on in a long time, maybe he should start practicing that again, especially since he didn't have Se's vision overhead to give him a better idea of where he was aiming. He'd lost his hawk, he was not loosing this wolf without a fight right now. They were just starting to get along after all.

The cloaked figure didn't seem to move but the wolf did.
It backed off the winged canine slowly, back-stepping to end up in front of the other human-like creature.
It's eyes were bright red in the dim forest and remained on Eska, waiting for orders.

Raz was putting as much energy as he could into recovering.
It wasn't an easy thing to do, focusing energy, but if he was going to help Eska get them out of there alive he needed to do it.

(Are you gonna control the creepy dude and I'll be his wolf or?)

At least the point was made, the larger wolf moving away from Raz. Great, Eska, now what...Keeping his eyes and aim locked on the two dark figures that appeared to consume the sunlight, the hunter cautiously and slowly took the few steps necessary to be standing near his wolf friend. Without looking down on the pup, he asked quietly "Please tell me you're conscious." The man knew if the pup wasn't awake, the situation would be a whole lot worse than it already was.

Suddenly the cloaked figure spoke, or more so, made it's thoughts available to those around it, because Eska was pretty sure he wasn't hearing the being speak with his ears. The voice was a bit echoed, hollow sounding and raspy like the winter wind through the dead trees, "You took care of the escaped one, so I will let you leave with your life, but that one is mine now." It was referencing Raz for sure, "Fight me and you will loose, hunter."

Oh boy, if Raz was awake and able, now would probably be a good time to leave...

((Yea I can...I guess lol))

Raz waited for the perfect time before showing he was awake.
He didn't want to give the hunter a signal because he'd sensed the cloaked person might be interested in him.
He was, after all, an oddity, just like the other wolf.
However, he was an oddity that already had a master.

So, right as the other voice finished speaking he was up and splaying his wings out just fast enough.
Another second later and he'd ducked under the hunter's legs and taken off.
Shit, that was painful.
His broken shoulder was definitely not helping but he should be high enough to clear the trees and hopefully there wasn't another flying vampire bat hiding out somewhere...

Probably for the first time, the hunter was glad to fly off with Raz, maybe even eager at this point. He didn't put up the bow completely, but did so enough to hold on. Under his leg he felt the broken shoulder and did his best not to press on it anymore than he had to in order to stay on the pup's back. The man looked over his shoulder several times, but was pleased to see they weren't being followed. Little did he know there were ways of following the two of them that didn't require physical movement at this time. The shadow man had gotten into Eska's head enough, he could find him now, and the pup, whenever he wished, so for now, it had let them think they escaped.

Razgul dropped about twenty miles away.
He'd gotten them to some type of small city and thankfully it had started raining.
The pup barely managed to land before his wings buckled and they went head over paws into the dirt.
It was raining enough so that humans weren't out and about to see when the pup shifted back into human form.
His wings hadn't gotten any injuries on the fall so he was able to change but that took up most of the his energy that he had left.
"Mmmm....not fun...."

"....Essa...?"

Half way through the flight, the man had put his bow away, and good thing too. The crash landing hand him rolling across the ground about ten feet on his own after letting go of Raz. As soon as he'd heard the pup calling for him, Eska scrambled through the dirt on his knees to come up beside the other. "Damn, kid...you going to be alright?" Already the hunter was assessing the damage the other wolf had done to Raz, his fingers running lightly across the kid's body at each wound. "This might take a while to fix up.." when he got to the broken shoulder.

The pup chuckled and grinned.
"I can heal faster with food but yes. Meat helps a lot."
He started to get up, being really careful not to move his broken shoulder.
There was a quiet growl but he managed to get to his feet without stumbling too badly.
"I want another fighting. That wolf faster but I can get him."
Oh yes, he still had his cocky pup ego.

The man snorted shaking his head at the pup. He helped the kid get up, looking over to the city they were just outside. With a quick nod to it, "Let's get inside, there's gotta be an inn, you can have as much meat at the place as you can stomach, aright? But don't worry about that other wolf for now, concentrate on getting healed up."

With that, he led the kid into the city and they quickly found their way out of the rain into a tavern. So it wasn't an inn, at least there'd be alcohol to warm Eska up and plenty of food. Not to mention, it was warmer inside, especially since the hunter took a table near the fireplace.

The pup sat down near the fire, ignoring the table as he got as close as he could without getting burned.
His wings had been pulled in and vanished again just in case others started to question why a human had feathers.
When the waitress came back with food she gave it to him on the floor after a questioning look to Eska.
The boy quickly downed a whole pile of beef steak and then quickly started working on an entire chicken.
Yeah...people were staring.
At least it was only because of his appetite and not feathers.

After awhile the fire had him nice and warmed up and the food had vanished, leaving a really sleepy puppy curled up in front of the fire, though still in human form.

The man nodded to the woman when she seemed confused about Raz eating on the floor. Yea, so everyone was staring at them, right now, he didn't give a care as long as they left him and the pup alone. The hunter himself had a decent sized plate of food, though it consisted of more than just meat, along with a tankard of ale. Once he was finished, he noticed the kid was curled up sleeping on the floor. Eska paid for the food, which was more than a few coins, and tried to gather Raz up in his arms.

Thankfully the inn was next door, so it wasn't far to carry the kid, and once shown to a room, the man put Raz down on the bed gently, avoiding that shoulder, and covered him up snugly.
